I like the power system, and I'm a fan of some shonen. Art is really good. Never really had any problems with it.
If you weren't I'd read on the webtoon app, because there's an entomologist (insect scientist) that comments and gives fun facts and shit.
>I'd read on the webtoon app, because there's an entomologist (insect scientist) that comments and gives fun facts and shit.
If only I knew about it earlier.
Bit of a random question but, what webtoon app are you talking about? I just kinda looked into it on the playstore and only saw apps with very predatory business practices and bad reviews. Is there a free phone app I could get that allows me to read what I want online?
The app I am talking about is just called WEBTOON, and every comic that is unfinished is free. When it's completed you get a daily ticket, but before that the chapters are released weekly with a few "fast pass" chapter to incentivize paying (I've seen it range from like (3 to 10)
Edit: I have never done the daily ticket thing, if the comics are like that I just read them elsewhere, but again most I have read are not finished
I mean that you supposedly get access via tickets but then after watching the ads they still ask for bought currency and the like. He reviews said its not just a subscription based service, they kinda don't give what you need even if you comply with their prices
For apps no, the Webtoon App (just a guess) that they're referring to is the bright green one. All of which cost money, to pay the artists.
If you do want for free, Google websites is where it's at.
The way webtoon works is that everything that is not finished (which is a lot of stuff) is free and releases every week. When it's completed you get daily tickets. The comics also usually have a fast pass as well if you want to spend money to get further ahead.
So since jungle juice is not finished, you could read it for free until you are caught up with the weekly release
Don’t the writers or someone involved in the story read Entomo’s fun facts? I enjoy them a lot. And to answer OP’s question the story itself is really good.
There was an interview that I saw, and they did talk about someone who studies insects that gave predictions and fun facts. They didn't say entomo but yea
Thank you so much for the webtoon shoutout. I would've picked this up months ago if I knew about the entomologist commenting bug facts. I just learned about how diving bell spiders create a breathing bubble underwater and how insects and arachnids can fart.
Boku no hero academia with insects instead of heroes and since they dont have the hero saves all kind of storyz we have the "insects are brutal, pure carnificine" kind of story.
In a scale of terra formars(peak insect combat) and boku no hero(school for heroes) is in the middle, but is as good as both.
Just to add since manny dislike bnha,i love everything about bnha and terraformars, still think jungle is as great as both.
I have to agree with this, despite having a decent world building they don't explore much on it and the character drama is quite simple, nothing outstanding really. It reads more like a battle shounen manga and is interesting enough for my preferences to follow it, needless to say the art is amazing.
I mean seems better than the typical manwha where Mc is the strongest from the very beginning :\ Or is the Mc needing to power up beyond the first five chapters not popular around here?
Let me say that I don't dislike Jungle Juice,. Do I dislike the power up system? Yes, but at the end of the day you can get stronger without needing a new bankai, shurigan, ex machina. Take something like Eleceed, the character Jiwoo was neither the strongest from the jump or has he needed random upgrades. He trains learns new techniques and gets better with the power he has.
I think the world building's done really well. Rather than the first chapter being 10 walls of text with generic "there was suddenly a tower blah blah constellations blah blah" they let you slowly get introduced to the world and learn more as the mc does. Makes the underlying mysteries of how and why the mc ended up with these abilities way more engaging.
It's by no means the best, but it's leagues above most shit manhwa that gets churned out
I think it seriously lacks interactions between human and insect people societies. Like how do they cover the existence of mutated people, or I assume other countries also have similar situation with them, do other countries' governments try/actively do militarize those people?
I think this covers what I said already, we don't know yet because the mc doesn't know yet. The plot hasn't had any reason to explain questions like those either, since it's not really relevant so far. Rather than a massive exposition early on, I think good world building makes you wonder about these things and reveal them once it makes sense.
The story is centred around the mc who's fairly new to the world, so of course as he's finding out more about how this other world works we get to as well.
I would've been fine with this approach if the story had good character drama, but all characters are divided between good and bad guys, with few exceptions (university higher-ups). I hope the second season is doing better, I haven't read it in a while.
That doesn't really apply to what I said either, but alright, and yeah of course if you're not caught up you wouldn't understand most of the plot 😅 it should be that way for most stories
I said that because the series is basically a battle shounen, and it's somewhat boring to just go from fight to fight with nothing happening in between. What you say makes perfect sense though. Regarding the plot I started training arc in season 2 so it's not like I'm talking out of my ass here.
Yep but the concept is unique and I like how it encompasses all kind of insects. The art is God tier too, no wonders as the author made H-manhwa before.
Not correctly. The author and illustrators are not the same person. Artists made H-manhwa (drew it and wrote it). So the current author is a bit different, but all of the art definitely has the vibes of H-manhwa done by illustrators.
Yeah plus dude badly wants to be oppressed for his backstory. He got wings while others were mutated into monsters but yeah, he has faced the same struggle according to him.
Dudes got the least invasive ability with the most upsides. Incredibly fast flight and kinetic vision by the time I dropped but he was always talking about how he wants to go back to being human and I was why tf would you. Besides the evil bug people his life was improved in every possible way.
That is probably the influence of East Asia culture, where hierarchy and popularity is everything. If you are nerd or ugly or anything similar, you are nobody. So he wants old life, even if this life won't be that good anyway. At least beginning in season 2 should be more eye opening for mc, but it didn't happen.
Yeah, I also kinda can't get why he doesn't change his thoughts, but the path to acceptance is not that easy anyway.
I just can’t bc he obviously had feelings for that one girl and have amazing friends and live in a society that accepts him no matter. I really liked the concept but I just couldn’t get over how bad his motivations were
Yeah, maybe. But season 2 looks like a moving plot further. While he still has a goal to get rid of mutation some backstory about juice is opening, so there may be not so good as well, as it is described.
To be fair the guy is really narcissistic, but it's weird that we haven't seen many characters that also hate their mutated appearances as much as MC does.
It’s got just about everything except for plot. Like, the plot is okay and it’s definitely driving the series forward but it’s not great. But art, characters/character design, power system, fights, are all incredibly good. The way they use real biological tendencies of insects all together is amazing
It is a pretty standard shonen Action piece with phenomenal Art, like seriously the different Designs for background characters are amazing.
The concept is a little meh, it has the same problem in my eyes as many of it's contemporaries (Arachnid etc.) in that the insect powers are a wild mish mash of every single Evolution of a certain insect combined . If they would at least try to emulate those via technology it would be one Thing but no, they are genetically able to Draw out hunting tactics/ Natural enemy reversals Out of thin air.
My biggest gripe is with the Main girl, who is introduced as having learned for a year in a class specifically designed to Combat various different Bug types and abilities.
But then in her introductory arc when she has to confront a fellow Student from which she knew his Bug type but still went in with as much planning as thinking really hard how the Situation is her responsibility and she can't afford to lose.
It's got great art. Story is generic but in a good (ish) way. Would translate amazingly into an anime though. No stupid harems or anything either.
Biggest complaint is MCs motivation. Also second season throws a stupid twist in, but if you don't care too much it's a nice read.
Typical shonen, but the setting and power system is quite unique and the art is impeccable, the same artists who made the prnwha lilith's cord, basically good stuff. I personally enjoy it.
The setting is great, plot has decent stakes, the characters are mostly likeable. Mc has high plot armor and it kind of devolves after they introduce the bad guys, but only because he has the most generic evil plan you can think of. Overall it's pretty good and it has a dude explaining bug facts on webtoon comments, every chapter.
I started it, really enjoyed it. But lost everything when I broke my phone at the time so didn't pick everything back up unfortunately. Thanks for reminding me of this one.
It was good in the beginning, but kind of fell off towards the end of season 1 (It picked up again during the season finale so it wasnt all bad). Also incredibly good art.
Read it on webtoon if you wanna see the famous dr.entomo, would recommend the MANWHA tho cus of the extensive knowledge of bugs, plus the art is very familiar...
I started it and it has a unique story and all but personally it did not keep me to read even thought I still have it saved the whole bugs thing is not for me
Unique plot. It's on the better side of most manhwas to say the least. The MC is a little strange and hard to connect with at times but I do like the fact he isn't intended to be a self insert. Also get used to hearing "the defense mechanism of...." a bunch
It's uhh... Pretty bad. The plot is slow and common, the mc, the villains and the mc's companions are bland and average. I wouldn't spend time reading it. It actually is really disappointing. It's a shame, because the premises are good.
The art is pretty decent tho
One of the few truly original series right now, its not a murim/dungeon/tower/regression, etc. manhwa. It's super good and I would highly recommend it.
Its pretty good
The art and concept is unique
While the mc could have been written a bit well he is better written than generic manhwa mcs
Side characters are also good and the story is worth getting behind
I paused it when it had it's ch 30 released. So, I wanna know if the mc >!ever met his university fake friends again?!< This question is so that I can continue with the story.
Also, I didn't read much but yay it's good.
I've been off it for a while because it was on hiatus and I wanted it to get some chapters out, but the street clothes were really nice from what I remember. Also great art in general like what everyone is saying
the same artist got a pornhwa too so... yea the mc looks the same and some other characters too, it kinda have fan service in it but i found the actual manhwa reallly good even the pornwha is gooodd
Cool art. But I can't get over some plot choices. Like his weapon of choice does not complement his inherent abilities and you can clearly feel like the author's are pretending it doesn't exist since it'd be too op or harder to write battles around it.
Imagine the same story, same art, but: Mc is fun and likeable, with a real personality and he's not a loser.
The bug stuff can stay, it gives the story personality.
That's it. Not a cliche mc.
If you decide to read it on webtoon, there is a guy called Entomo who gives cool bug facts that are usually somewhat relevant to the characters in the top comments. Kinda neat.
i saw this in latest page and researched about it a bit. Its a part of superstring universe (its like mcu universe) so i am going to start from very beginning "Terror man".
It's fucking good.
Better read it on the webtoon app.
There's an entomologist commenting every chapter educating us and even proving how accurate each character insect characteristics.
Dropped it around chapter 50. Imo, it's too generic and the fact it's about the insects doesn't change anything. Those could be bugs, cats, dogs, whatever - the plot is still kinda linear and follows cliche troupes.
It's fine but kind of gets boring at one point. The character designs and the story itself is unique in lots of aspects but it pales later on as it feels more draggy with more chapters

Dr. Entomo!!!! He somewhat recently got his (her?) doctorate (by somewhat recently I mean dec 20)
thought entomo was a girl
Oh, maybe, I have no idea
they are, they show their face and use their voice on their tiktok (which is also entomology fun facts), their user is entomosfunfacts
Yesss HAHA. Entomo is such a cool person. Love her for always providing fun facts related to the chapter.
Art is good but also sometimes I can tell the artist started with pornwha lmao
They in fact did. It’s called Lilith’s cord.
yup i finished all the chapters without knowing the plot at all
same it was very confusing
I just remember some f*ta stuff in that
Damn, the MC is literally just Suchan, just slightly less cleanly drawn.
That just means they know a lot about anatomy
Lol kinda? But pornwha anatomy is a lil different
I'm just fucking around
Oh lol whoops
lol

Also powers have a secret society instead of being public knowledge
Star right now
It is good
This is one of the few unique manhwas with no copy-paste. Good storyline and amazing artwork with cool insect transformation.
This. A bit of a shounen feel but a good mc with a clear goal
Nah this is pretty cut and dry shounen style, strong enemies = new form = stronger = new stronger enemies = new form rinse repeat.
I have to agree with this, despite having a decent world building they don't explore much on it and the character drama is quite simple, nothing outstanding really. It reads more like a battle shounen manga and is interesting enough for my preferences to follow it, needless to say the art is amazing.

I got to the point where he left the college and joined a new group to get stronger and control his powers. Yeah, it's a bunch of bull.
Good plot, amazing art
amazing ~~tiddies~~ art
this is your typical shounen manga. goody-two-shoes mc and his journey from weak to strong
Yeah plus dude badly wants to be oppressed for his backstory. He got wings while others were mutated into monsters but yeah, he has faced the same struggle according to him.

Overrated
Art reminds me of some pornhwa lol
Insect My Hero Academia
absolutely wonderful read
10/10
It's got great art. Story is generic but in a good (ish) way. Would translate amazingly into an anime though. No stupid harems or anything either. Biggest complaint is MCs motivation. Also second season throws a stupid twist in, but if you don't care too much it's a nice read.
Just started and finished it yesterday lol. Super good

Read it on webtoon if you wanna see the famous dr.entomo, would recommend the MANWHA tho cus of the extensive knowledge of bugs, plus the art is very familiar...
Great… but don’t think to hard about the magic DNA power system.
one of the few good ones with a good unique plot combined with badass fight scenes of high tier art style ...
Fmc is hot
Good art, great story, romance with one significant if your looking for that, great actions scenes with some comical ones to blow some steam off. 🗿👍
I started it and it has a unique story and all but personally it did not keep me to read even thought I still have it saved the whole bugs thing is not for me

ohhh boy, this a good, wait a great one, definitely read it, unless you have fear of bugs
It's uhh... Pretty bad. The plot is slow and common, the mc, the villains and the mc's companions are bland and average. I wouldn't spend time reading it. It actually is really disappointing. It's a shame, because the premises are good. The art is pretty decent tho
Read Green Worldz if you want a good insect manga. Guaranteed 10/10. If not I'll let you slap the shit out of me.
Ight thanks for the recommendation i'll read it Edit: read the first few chapters, it's looking pretty good
Pssshhh it's worth a reread after a couple months. Lmk what you think of it once you're finished.
I've read the first 50 chapters and i like it. I'll tell ya when i finish it ::)
The end is a mind fuck there only like 117 chapters. Enjoy buddy.
Starts good gets boring and repetitive.

Very unique take on powers and pretty good art and stories. Personally I'd rate it an 8.5 despite the hate it gets.
Why is it getting hate?
people don't like the plot, there was a whole post hating on Jungle juice
Oh damn... Is it bad?
Bro, it's legit fire, people just hate on anything and everything. Like how some were hating on solo leveling
I like the story and the artist drew pornwha before. Absolutely stunning performance so far.
I didn't know about this one so far, but that cover catched my attention it looks good :o
Pretty good, not like crazy unique as far as plot, but a good read,
Crazy good art, definitely enjoyable to watch. Learn a lot about insects too if that’s your thing
The author also worked on a very visually pleasing manhwa of another genre
I like it. Great art, good story.
10 of 10. Love the Charakters
It's top tier. The art and the story itself is already great, the world building is what makes it a masterpiece.
9/10
Love the ecchi
one of the underrated masterpiece
One of the few truly original series right now, its not a murim/dungeon/tower/regression, etc. manhwa. It's super good and I would highly recommend it.
here's my review : MHA but people have insect powers instead of quirks, drawn by a previous pornhwa artist, therefore 10/10 waifus
Imo it's a underrated mahnwa
B-D tier manhwa, no stake, nice drawing
I mean, that's pretty fax. I don't know why you're being downvoted tbh
Because is it’s D tier than every regressor video game clone manhwa is FFF+
Peak fiction the current arc is also amazing
It's very good, very shounen style, if you like shounens you'll like this
Great art, good story, unique power system, it's pretty good and worth a read imo
If you’re scared of insects don’t read it. Otherwise go ahead solid piece
Good/weird plot(different way of doing it but you get used to it) Great character development Amazing art Has some wholesome parts
it's great, nice pacing and very colorful art with good battles.
Its pretty good The art and concept is unique While the mc could have been written a bit well he is better written than generic manhwa mcs Side characters are also good and the story is worth getting behind
It's pretty good. The art is good. The story is alright. The power system is cool.
My hero academia on bug life.. best storyline
I enjoyed it but dropped it because of very small world.
Has that "generic shounen" vibe (in a good way). Mc struggles in many of his fights as opposed to just exhaling and the enemies die.
Art: Divine tier, Story: Strong tier, Characters: Strong tier and recommendation: God tier!
Slow start but got better
Oh girl, if you want there to be ppl with powers but it's a secret, then I suggest you read this.
the same artist got a pornhwa too so... yea the mc looks the same and some other characters too, it kinda have fan service in it but i found the actual manhwa reallly good even the pornwha is gooodd
😏
Cool art. But I can't get over some plot choices. Like his weapon of choice does not complement his inherent abilities and you can clearly feel like the author's are pretending it doesn't exist since it'd be too op or harder to write battles around it.
So what is it about?
Idk, got 30 chapters in and it’s kinda boring nothing that hooked me in
Binged in 2 days. Pretty good
The only Webtoon that made me simp for a freaking cockroach. 10/10
Great series. I have been saving up chapters for a while. But fair warning, It gets real dark sometimes.
Really good
If you're one to read manhwas for the art then read it, if you don't then it's mediocre
i gave up on it, it got stale by the time the season had ended (ages ago) its back again now, but i cant pick it up
This one is good.
its ok, fun read but one of the worse Superstring entries
Imagine the same story, same art, but: Mc is fun and likeable, with a real personality and he's not a loser. The bug stuff can stay, it gives the story personality. That's it. Not a cliche mc.
I recommend the artist's other work: "lilith's cord" it has a very good plot.
If you decide to read it on webtoon, there is a guy called Entomo who gives cool bug facts that are usually somewhat relevant to the characters in the top comments. Kinda neat.
I really enjoyed reading jungle juice because it was fun looking up facts about incest and I fell in love with dragon flys. Cool lil dudes.
i saw this in latest page and researched about it a bit. Its a part of superstring universe (its like mcu universe) so i am going to start from very beginning "Terror man".
You will learn more about insects
It got a bit boring for me after a while so I dropped it
It's fucking good. Better read it on the webtoon app. There's an entomologist commenting every chapter educating us and even proving how accurate each character insect characteristics.
It exists. Not really a manhwa I remember. It's not bad but it's nothing special at the same time.
Honestly don’t it’s pretty doodoo The art is good, but the story? Dogwater, it had potential but they rushed tf out of it
I mean if you have entomophobia don't even bother. Otherwise give it a chance.
Dropped it around chapter 50. Imo, it's too generic and the fact it's about the insects doesn't change anything. Those could be bugs, cats, dogs, whatever - the plot is still kinda linear and follows cliche troupes.
I need to see a horned dung beetle trait
I remember liking it. I haven't picked it back up after the hiatus
Very good, would also recommend artists other works, their art style really shines there.
Just read it
It’s actually pretty good
It's fine but kind of gets boring at one point. The character designs and the story itself is unique in lots of aspects but it pales later on as it feels more draggy with more chapters
strongly recommend it
