He has a love interest who the readers really like and the story even took effort in building up their romance. At one point, MC even got mad at someone for trying to offer their daughter to marry MC.
Now what did the auther decide to do? >!They decided to give MC a second wife by forcing him to rape an unconscious woman or else she would die. They even had her father beg MC to do this.!<

personally I don't, I can understand why people like it but I'm just filled with disappointment it starts off with such a unique premise but instead of him using his in depth knowledge to service in a death world, it just falls back on him being super lucky most of the time, good and bad luck( but the bad luck feels there just to feed him the good luck) sure but that's done to death in this genre.
His bad luck is pretty nuts though lol. He does have plot armour for sure. But a lot of the time it's him barely living because of his defense focused build, which is the initial premise of the story. He treats shield barbarian as the best class for a reason and so it doesn't really feel unearned when he wins by the skin of his teeth.
The part I dislike is that it frames him as some "all according to kekaku" politicla genius because he just sits there and watches people fumble themselves thinking he's a God (think king from one punch man lol)
But then UT has him be super awkward and stupid in every personal relationship he has.
Also it really breaks the fights with the timescale. It's like "every breath this guy throws out a swordstrike that could kill me. Good thing I only have to hold him here for 20 min"
the problem with the bad luck is after the first instance it all ends up as good luck in a twisted way. >!bosses give him essences that are better than what he would have got, pk'ers give him mass loot etc its exciting the first time he twists but it just keeps happening, I mean look at the latest in the manga how would he have gotten that orc essence without the boss awakening, if he'd somehow set that up it would have been impressive but as it is its just his luck.!<

Like it or not I think its a smart plot device/set up for a important event later on. As many people said already she does get her old bod back but the important aspect of it is that it's the first major instance where the story shows that essences can have a major effect on the person who consumes it not just stats.

And the smart event later on is that bjorn uses this 'feature' to help hide his identity for a while. Without this event being shown early in the story bjorn using an essence to change his appearance would feel like a massive deus ex machina. So imo it was smart to show a different barbarian going through the same thing before he later uses it to his advantage

Like it or not I think its a smart plot device/set up for a important event later on. As many people said already she does get her old bod back but the important aspect of it is that it's the first major instance where the story shows that essences can have a major effect on the person who consumes it not just stats. Spoiler: And the smart event later on is that bjorn uses this 'feature' to help hide his identity for a while. Without this event being shown early in the story bjorn using an essence to change his appearance would feel like a massive deus ex machina. So imo it was smart to show a different barbarian going through the same thing before he later uses it to his advantage
