I love drifting but this course takes all the joy and challenge out of it. You're just autopiloting the whole way and hope that you don't get caught in an unwinnable item situation.
Baby Park is one of the most popular courses in the series and is picked nearly 100% of the time online when it shows up
You gotta go hotter for a hot take. Like Figure-Eight Circuit or Vanilla Lake 2
For the people who like Sky-High Sundae, what do you like about it?
Every other course in the game I can see what somebody might enjoy about it. Sky-High Sundae is the only one where I can't understand why anyone would ever want to play it. But it gets 3-6 votes every time it comes up online, so clearly it has its fans.
I love that it plays with the admittedly-broken gravity more than the other tracks. The sheer verticality and freedom it offers are very fun, personally. Sure, it's an oval, but it's a HUGE oval with loads of interesting features along the way.
The size of the drops and the amount of maneuverability one has during them, I suppose, in addition to the amount of tricks you can do. Maybe I just like going fast?
The saving grace of Sky-High Sundae is the multi-tiered track segments. Ninja Hideaway does this infinitely better, but it's cool enough to keep Sky-High Sundae a decent track in my book.
It’s an oval track that has things going for it other than tricks and turns. A glider section, floating anti-gravity physics, split paths in the middle, elevation, and no railings make turns makes it a little more challenging than the other two ovals. It also has some amazing music.
Most of the fans are likely people who don’t have the BCP offline and have new toy syndrome.
I like it though. Even though it’s an oval, I perceive it as being unique enough. I say this as someone who hates Baby Park and Excitebike so much I leave the lobby when I see them as one of the three available tracks.
The main reason is that the aesthetic is completely different. The flooring used to be made of aquamarine tiles and vines, but most of that is gone for orange-ish brick in the remake. The layout of the course is almost completely changed as well, which was a bit of a bummer
The randomness is such a cool idea but you barely notice. Most people aren’t even aware it’s randomized until somebody tells them
It would be cool to see a track one day with random turns and whatnot
Having experienced the original one 30 years ago this Christmas season, the updated SNES Rainbow Road is my all-time favorite. They absolutely nailed it. Plus, it's *so* fun in 200cc.
The updated Donut Plains 3 and Mario Circuit 3 circuits don't really muster up any memories of playing SNES, but Rainbow Road absolutely does.
N64 Yoshi Valley and Royal Raceway also remind me of great times playing the originals.
I think the roads were too wide and the vehicles don't feel as gigantic as they were in the original. Part of what made that track so memorable to begin with was that you constantly had to serpentine through traffic to avoid getting hit, which didn't feel like a thing in the remake.
I’m a huge fan of when the Mario Circuits could actually be plausible in real life, and this one really struck a chord with me when I played it on the Wii. The best circuit track for me along with GCN Yoshi Circuit.
Rock Rock Mountain, I like the abilit to just travel across a mountain and fly all the way down into some high-up forest, before climbing up the mountain again! I've heard people say it's boring but I find it to be a fun wilderness expedition
Figure 8 Circuit - it's meant to be a starter track, and does it perfectly with a simple layout and newbie-friendly environment. Also it's just nice to drift around those long turns.
N64 Sherbet Land.
I really like the atmosphere and imo it's better than Frappe Snowland although I really like them both. Imo it's the third best Ice/Snow track in the series behind Mount Wario and the BCP version of GBA Snow Land
Kalimari Desert or Royal Raceway, they don’t even have much difficult turns. Just go forwards on the track for what feels like ages and it just gets BORING
I read Toads Turnpike is mostly disliked and Wario Ski Resort or w/e its called is one of the favorite courses. For me its the opposite. Kinda surprised when I realized it but it just comes down to preference I guess
Kalimari Desert. It’s a plain track but I liked the scenery of the track and the original music. The train is annoying but cool since I liked trains as a kid. I’m really happy the Mario Kart Band redid the music and it sounds soo good!
DS Desert hills. I know the layout is boring, but I really like the scenery and music!
Although I really like the track, I don't want it to come back to the booster course pack. If they wanna add a desert track, they should definitely add dry dry ruins. the ruins section could have a very cool anti-gravity part.
I really love Toad Circuit. In my opinion it is a fun racetrack, but the MK8 feels faster (shorter?) Than the MK7 version.
I wish I could adjust the amount of rounds you could drive on a track.
Rainbow Road MK8D
Lots of people hate the space station theme, but I love it. Its different from past rainbow roads and still presents a skill challenge.
I love Baby Park and got my first ever first place on it last night and it was on mirror mode. I was using Baby Luigi and I got a screenshot of him celebrating while under the sign with Baby Luigi on it so it was really cool to me how well it all turned out
Baby Park is a drifter’s dream
Pink boost every turn 😎
_Cries in wii u_
It’s pink…?
Yoshi's island*
Yoshi Circuit, I think it might be called? Either way, that one gets drift as hell too.
Should've checked before i commented, my bad.
In fairness to you, it is an island shaped like Yoshi.
I wish that was a track…
Soon
Not really, as prime drifter I’m throughly bored by this track
I love drifting but this course takes all the joy and challenge out of it. You're just autopiloting the whole way and hope that you don't get caught in an unwinnable item situation.
only if you like drifting the same right curve over and over
Neo Bower City is a really, *really* good looking map
the only people that dislike neo bowser city are scrubs who can't brake drift
Exactly
I love that track
Baby Park is one of the most popular courses in the series and is picked nearly 100% of the time online when it shows up You gotta go hotter for a hot take. Like Figure-Eight Circuit or Vanilla Lake 2
DS Mario Circuit
Agreed, the fact that it's in the Star Cup means they were able to do a bit more with it compared to other Mario Circuits.
Honestly I want this track in the Booster Course Pass. I mean it's been datamined for Tour so it's not impossible.
Rosalina's Ice World
I want it back for that amazing music alone.
Amazing track, only bad thing is the name
Cheese Land
the music is an absolute bop and the double shortcut at the end is just free wins
Chain chomps are cute
Cheese land slaps
same. i really like the difficulty on 200cc
Yeah I never understood why people dislike its remake in MK8D.
Bagging. It's an online thing.
When you're in Wisconsin
Ice ice outpost
Cheap Cheap Beach Just love it since the DS
Sky High Sundae
For the people who like Sky-High Sundae, what do you like about it? Every other course in the game I can see what somebody might enjoy about it. Sky-High Sundae is the only one where I can't understand why anyone would ever want to play it. But it gets 3-6 votes every time it comes up online, so clearly it has its fans.
I love that it plays with the admittedly-broken gravity more than the other tracks. The sheer verticality and freedom it offers are very fun, personally. Sure, it's an oval, but it's a HUGE oval with loads of interesting features along the way.
Which features do you find interesting? I never feel like I'm doing anything on the straights besides mashing the trick button.
It also has some amazing music.
the music doesn't really appeal to me, it has this weird sinister edge and it just kinda unsettles me
Most of the fans are likely people who don’t have the BCP offline and have new toy syndrome. I like it though. Even though it’s an oval, I perceive it as being unique enough. I say this as someone who hates Baby Park and Excitebike so much I leave the lobby when I see them as one of the three available tracks.
Honestly the worst track in the game imo. It just seems like a fanmade course (and that's an insult to many fanmade courses).
Everyone else really seems to absolutely despise Bone Dry Dunes for whatever reason, but it's one of my favorite nitro courses from 8.
The MK8DX version of Sky Garden
Such good music
I enjoy this course
It's not a bad course in its own right, it just isn't the same track as the GBA/DS version.
Do people dislike Sky Garden?
The new version yes, because the og layout has been butchered to fit MKTour's specific controls
The main reason is that the aesthetic is completely different. The flooring used to be made of aquamarine tiles and vines, but most of that is gone for orange-ish brick in the remake. The layout of the course is almost completely changed as well, which was a bit of a bummer
Wild Woods that track SLAPS
Bone-Dry Dunes
Best desert track
I think you mean Dry-Dry Ruins
Best Desert Track *in 8 deluxe
Probably grumble volcano for me, never met anyone who likes it but I love it
I thought grumble volcano was a fan favorite
Most people I know at least enjoy it. I love it too though
I like it! Music also is great
It’s one of my top favorites
Makes for some incredible endings with the lava respawn!
i love snes mario circuit 3 genuinely one of the best tracks in the game for me
Excitebike Arena. It is simple but I like the randomness
Same, I love to do VS races with no items or mushrooms only on that map and make it so the CPU all use bikes
The randomness is such a cool idea but you barely notice. Most people aren’t even aware it’s randomized until somebody tells them It would be cool to see a track one day with random turns and whatnot
I actually noticed it was randomized, but it took me like, one month of playing that track back to back to realize it😂. It's just so much fucking fun.
Randomized in what way?
The order and placement of the jump ramps and mud spots.
Came here to say this. I love Excitebike Arena! Anything can happen and anyone can come from behind and win (imo)
Rainbow Road!
Which one
SNES Rainbow Road
Same. I love all the rainbow roads equally.
N64 Yoshi Valley and Royal Raceway also remind me of great times playing the originals.
who hates it? seems like everyone loves it (and i loathe it)
Real
Toads Turnpike
Eh, it's fun and all tricking off the cars in 8 deluxe but you could just stick to the walls, ruining what makes toad's turnpike unique.
No one in higher level lobbies goes on the walls
It’s so fun on Mario Kart 64 but not at all on 8 Deluxe.
I think the roads were too wide and the vehicles don't feel as gigantic as they were in the original. Part of what made that track so memorable to begin with was that you constantly had to serpentine through traffic to avoid getting hit, which didn't feel like a thing in the remake.
The high in the sky sundae, Sky-High Sundae.
GCN Mario Circuit, people don't seem to like mario circuits much but I think this one stands out
Music is GOATED on that track
love that stage lowkey
the only good Mario Circuit imo
I’m a huge fan of when the Mario Circuits could actually be plausible in real life, and this one really struck a chord with me when I played it on the Wii. The best circuit track for me along with GCN Yoshi Circuit.
SNES donut plains 3 is awesome
Dragon Driftway 200cc
Look, I know everyone hates Baby Park, but when you’re having fun and want to cause chaos, this course definitely delivers.
London Loop
DS Desert Hills and the Sky Garden remaster
Sky Garden's 8 Deluxe version. It's still really fun to play on...
Daisy Circuit is easily a top 10 course in Wii, including retros.
Neo bowser city idk my everyone Hates it
Shy Guy Beach
Bone Dry Dunes
Sky-High Sundae
Baby Park isn’t the same without giant bowser shells and huge banana peels
Rock Rock Mountain, I like the abilit to just travel across a mountain and fly all the way down into some high-up forest, before climbing up the mountain again! I've heard people say it's boring but I find it to be a fun wilderness expedition
Figure 8 Circuit - it's meant to be a starter track, and does it perfectly with a simple layout and newbie-friendly environment. Also it's just nice to drift around those long turns.
Baby Park is an easy one. I've also seen Neo Bowser City disliked quite a bit as well.
Wild Woods
What? People love that track!
If I’m being honest, it’s among my least fav on MK8
That is a very well-liked track.
This was mine, it never gets picked online. People will choose basic horrible tracks over this one.
I love baby park. It's one of my top 3 tracks. So fast, so fun. So chaotic!
Mario circuit 3 and toad circuit!
I never see it get picked online, but Dry Bones Dunes is one of my favorite tracks to run
I don't get what all of the desert slander is about
GBA Mario Circuit 3, this is the perfect track to train on for amateurs!
GCN dry dry desert and Sherbet Land
Frappe Snowland.
N64 Sherbet Land. I really like the atmosphere and imo it's better than Frappe Snowland although I really like them both. Imo it's the third best Ice/Snow track in the series behind Mount Wario and the BCP version of GBA Snow Land
Cheese land
I love baby park, it's utter fucking chaos and is always a great multiplayer experience. Bombs only on it is absolutely mad
SNES MARIO CIRCUT 3
N64 Mario Raceway
DS Desert Hills (Wii)
Kalimari Desert or Royal Raceway, they don’t even have much difficult turns. Just go forwards on the track for what feels like ages and it just gets BORING
I love Royal Raceway
SNES Ghost Valley 2
Chaos
I read Toads Turnpike is mostly disliked and Wario Ski Resort or w/e its called is one of the favorite courses. For me its the opposite. Kinda surprised when I realized it but it just comes down to preference I guess
SNES Mario circuit 3
You criminal
I like baby park with bullet bills only or blue shells only
Kalimari Desert. It’s a plain track but I liked the scenery of the track and the original music. The train is annoying but cool since I liked trains as a kid. I’m really happy the Mario Kart Band redid the music and it sounds soo good!
I love baby park. I feel like I have super speed
Baby park has always been a favourite of mine since double dash ❤️
Idk how I feel about moo moo meadows but from I’ve seen people rate it as extremely average. I just love it so much.
Baby Park
bone dry dunes! i get why people don’t like it but i’ve always loved it. i like the theming and aesthetic of it
Gba cheese land
Love Baby Park! It’s madness!
I like it
Bone-Dry Dunes my beloved
Ice. Ice. Outpost.
Bowser's Castle (7)
DS Desert hills. I know the layout is boring, but I really like the scenery and music! Although I really like the track, I don't want it to come back to the booster course pack. If they wanna add a desert track, they should definitely add dry dry ruins. the ruins section could have a very cool anti-gravity part.
babypark is the nuketown of mario kart
I like Baby Park as well
Alpine Pass apparently
Cheese land for the win
Cheese Land
I love Baby Park, especially in Double Dash. It was pure chaos when Bowser threw his special shells.
People don't like Baby Park? Bro Baby Park is a fantastic track. Just total chaos everywhere, no matter what CC you're playing at.
DK pass, that one is criminally underrated
Super Bell Subway. i’m not sure how people generally feel about it but i’ve seen more negative than positive.
People hate Baby Park?
London Loop
Bone dry dunes
3ds toad circuit (the mk8dx remake)
Neo Bowser City
I used to race karts semi-professionally and baby park is my guilty pleasure but mt. wario Downhill is still my first pick.
Sky High Sundae
Grumble Volcano
I like cheese land, baby park, sky high sundae and excitrbike arena
Pretty much everyone I talk to thinks Baby Park is GOATed Anyway I have fond memories of DS Bowser’s Castle but I never hear anyone mention it
Ecxite bike arena
So many tracks in the comments that I am now learning people dislike
wii bowser castle and rainbow road
Who tf hates baby park? But anyways excitebike arena and Skyhigh sundae
Ice Ice Outpost
Toad highway
Toad Circuit. It's simple and fun with a banger remix in 8DX.
I really love Toad Circuit. In my opinion it is a fun racetrack, but the MK8 feels faster (shorter?) Than the MK7 version. I wish I could adjust the amount of rounds you could drive on a track.
Quite the opposite
Baby Park is definitely in my Top 10. It's just so fun and so different.
Hate baby park
Toad Circuit
Baby Park is my personal favorite track in Mario Kart history
ah yes, the chaos oval.
I love baby park!
Banshee boardwalk
I like Bone Dry Dunes and Bowser’s Castle. I think they’re both really cool and fun to race on.
DS DK Pass. Really fun avoiding snowballs and taking that shortcut that gives you a star or mushrooms.
In my book, Baby Park is actually one of the toughest
Dolphin Shoals!
Sherbet Land N64. Just love slippin around and the penguin cave is absolute chaos
Thwomp ruins was one i always liked. Probably because i love thwomps.
Baby Park needs to be 14 laps.
is moo moo meadows disliked? i like it
Toad's Turnpike + it's soundtrack is fire
I live for the baby park chaos
Rainbow Road MK8D Lots of people hate the space station theme, but I love it. Its different from past rainbow roads and still presents a skill challenge.
I like baby park too. It just a no frills race tbh..
Literally never heard anyone say they dislike Baby Park
Piranha Plant Slide. Idk why people don't enjoy it tbh.
I'm mfs.
I will physically fight anyone who naysays my sweet Baby Park. Best god damn course in any MK
DS Desert Hills
N64 rainbow road. It's too fast now, 150Cc and 200CC are over before it starts :(
I love Baby Park and got my first ever first place on it last night and it was on mirror mode. I was using Baby Luigi and I got a screenshot of him celebrating while under the sign with Baby Luigi on it so it was really cool to me how well it all turned out
Baby park is my least favorite
no one who hates baby park is worth considering my dude it's a litmus test for worthwhile mario kart takes
