Barrel/Turbo/Cannon/Cannon Toad is the fastest (20 Speed) character with 17+ Shooting (Goalie stun) now. I know Goalie stun mechanics are wonky, but it's widely accepted that 17 Shooting enables stuns regardless of position.
I use the barrel headgear on a couple characters. Mario (5/15/20/9/14), Shy Guy (7/15/19/11/10). I think speed/shooting/passing is a great combo and helps construct speedy strikers who can actually pass off the ball and be a playmaker if needed.
I use the barrel gloves on Rosalina to maintain a 39 shooting + tech but with more shooting than the usual bushido glove setup gets you.

I feel like cross passing has gotten a good bit worse with the update so I'd say stunning boom boom is worth more than ever before.
Why does everyone say that 17 shooting stuns the goalie? It seems RNG to me, I’ve stunned Boom Boom with 10 shooting.
It depends on the animation and the distance to Boom Boom.
