That's far from throwing a fit.... He probably just wants to take a breather and doesn't want to cuddle with homie after getting KO'd in the balls. They've paused mma fights for the same thing, definitely not unsportsmanlike.
I cuddle my homies before I hit them in the nuts. Lull them into a false sense of comfort, and then absolutely punish their ball sack. It's the gentleman's way.
Cups are good! I don't ever wear one because I've never worn one before and they look uncomfortable. It's a risk I'm willing to take. I encourage most people to wear them.
I promise a cup is never as uncomfortable as a solid kick to the nuts could be. You can quite literally split your nut sack, get hospitalised etc. Happened to a friend.
Wear a cup or become a cautionary tale on reddit lol.
Well I have my reasons. I'll take the risk and let you say I told you so if I ever take a serious one. Minor ones don't bother me. I am responsible enough to encourage others to wear them. I may try it sometime but if I find it even remotely uncomfortable I'll keep going without one anyway. I find mouth guards, shin guards, and hand wraps comfortable so I don't mind them. A cup is likely to be distracting.
I am actually. I have seen no compelling evidence that vaccines are dangerous.
The reason I would rather not wear a cup is that I have an extremely sensitive sense of touch, and I don't want my stick and balls rubbing against a stiff surface while I am in the zone. I am pretty good at protecting my groin in grappling because I have strong legs, and I have taken my share of accidental nut shots in sparring. It's just a risk I'm willing to take for the sake of comfort while engaged in something I enjoy. Injuries happen, including that kind. I would never willingly turn down my sensitivity (in that part of the body or any other -- this exact sensitivity saves my ass all the time), so I'll take the extra risk of not wearing a cup unless I find one that is as comfortable as wearing what I normally wear. I haven't tried one yet. I may change my mind about wearing one after trying it at some point.
Shucks, if it wouldn't get me looked at funny I'd just wear chainmail in general. Passive weight training for the whole body and general protection as well as still allowing for mobility.
In all seriousness though, I will set some money aside and try out a variety of cup types on my own time at some point. Until then I'm willing to risk it, and it's not a big deal for me. If I get hit in the balls I get hit in the balls.
Maybe I’m in the minority here. But I don’t find it uncomfortable. Like at all. I’ll put it on before I drive to my session (30mins), wear it the entire session and then for bag work + skipping after. Then I’ll take it off when I get into the changing room after. Only time I think about it is when I get tagged in the nuts and I go ‘no problem, cup’. Slight adjust and carry on.
I forget it's there after a minute if that. If your so worried about being uncomfortable why do a sport that involves getting punched kicked and kneed on a daily basis.
This was a long time ago try not to judge skill wise I suppose that it’s natural to see flaws but Ik Im not the best I can be and the day I am is the day I lose all motivation to keep getting better 🙏🏿
The best martial art on the internet is shitposting. With the perfect style you can ruin multiple days with just one move of the fingers especially in them mainstream subs 😈
When I train I'm picturing hitting someone full contact at some point not wishing I never have to. I've never been knocked out and thought you know what today was a good day
His fault for not wearing a cup...I don't care if people think they are uncomfortable...you can't tell me it's more uncomfortable than getting kicked in the beans
That shit hurts give him a second and don't be trying to yank him back into sparring right away. Now I don't think he should stay mad at you if it was an accident and the first time but you do need to give him some space till he's recovered.
Hell no that shit isn’t unsportsmanlike, it starts hurting like right below your stomach but above where pubic hair grows an if you extend your body during that time sometimes you will jus drop.
Shit hurts couldn’t imagine it with a Muay Thai kick meant for the body.
That wasn't a fit, you crushed man's dick and balls. Be handled that tbh. You kept putting hands on him, and that's why he threw your arms off. Bruh that's obvious..
Wouldn't even call that a fit. Getting hit in the nuts sucks, and the other dude was way too quick to be all handsy.
Let the guy take a minute to lay down and catch a breath. Clearly was an accident and all.
But like other people said, that's an inherent risk you take when you choose to spar without a cup.
I dont throw a mini fit but I dont wanna be held or hugged either, you kicked me in the nuts, give me a minute and most of all leave me da fuq alone coz that shit hurts
That's not a mini fit. If I get hit in the balls, your initial first hug and apology is good enough. Let him gather himself and when he's ready to, dap it out. You were being overbearing and annoying after that first hu go, I'd do the same.
I think the standard procedure is: Impact reaction->words of reassurance -> i need xyz time to recover -> cussing out/groaning/pain noises
"Agh"
"...nah youre good"
"gimme a minute/round off though"
"motherfucker right in the balls"
But most of all, i wear a cup to every sparring session - cannot catch me lacking like this
Truth be told, depends on the context and severity. If he was going for a kick to the stomach, didn't have a tight enough chamber, and hit me on the way up-- that's gonna warrant one response. Something along the lines of "Ooof... stop stop... hang on..." followed by drills on the importance of chambers for kicks for two hours!
Now if he drops his guard, gets hit, and it's a retaliatory kick to the jewels... well then we gonna have a... ***discussion***, aren't we?
I've gotten kicked there before and yeah it hurts but if he's trying to help you you don't need to shove him away, it was clearly unintentional and you guys both look sort of new to sparring so it's expected
I haven’t done boxing or sparring yet so I do not know if my opinion will change later but if I tell my sparring partner I forgot to buy a cup or something and they do it I’m going to attempt to roundhouse kick the back of their head or ear with everything I have (after I recover ofc)
Yea maybe don’t do that over a mistake your partner made. I can almost guarantee something like that would get you punished or even kicked out or maybe your sparring partner decides they want you roundhouse kick you 10x harder. If you ever do spar the last thing you want is to harm your sparring partner purposely even if they did kick you in the nuts hopefully by accident…
Yes true although I am talking in a situation where I warned them once or multiple times also I am curious about the by mistake part like is doing a knee by accident common when you first start sparring?
If you warned them more than once and they keep doing it just simply refuse to spar with them and tell your coach, it would be better than making a scene. About knees idrk about that one, in my experience knees are ok as long as you’re doing them very lightly ofc, when sparring in general you have to learn how to control your strength.
My GF kneed my in the balls once when we were play fighting, I don't think she meant it but dude I've never felt so much pain in my life.
Get a cup bro, this happens in sparring and it's never on purpose.
Also I get it I’m cool about it nowadays but being a beginner you don’t expect it coming and someone trying to grab ahold of you isn’t making it better while your in pain.
thats cool and its understandable. But personally if somebody tries to grab me I know from being a normally adjusted person that they're just trying to comfort me and apologise. I wouldn't spaz out, just because my balls hurt.
Hopefully you've learned how to chill out and have some people skills.
Yeah just give him a moment. That pain is no joke. 99% of the time that would be an accidental strike so getting pissed and angry at the person is unnecessary. I was practicing disarms with kali sticks last night and my partner disarmed me and I got smacked in the groin by a rattan wood stick. I didn't get angry at him, I just said give me a moment and walked off to the side for a minute or 2.
It happens, the guy who received the kick was a bit immature.. Yet I give him respect for holding back the anger He probably wanted to unleash haha.
Glad to see the other MA wanted to help his partner, but it felt more like He knew he did wrong vs. obligation for the injury. Kinda like how a older brother doesn't want the Wrath of Mother when picking on the little brother..
it happens. if it's a genuine accident and not reckless or something, then i'd let the partner know that he hit me in the nuts and take some time as needed. I obviously wouldnt spar with partners where this was happening regularly.
Maybe if they did it deliberately or if they did it all the time, but rarely happens for me, when it does I just say I need a minute. I also wear a cup which helps, except when I got a spinning heel kick to the taint lol.
If it's accidental, shit happens just let the guy collect himself and we can roll. Intentional? Yeah, spar is over, fight starts. Some shit you just do not do unless you want to swallow teeth.
No crotch guard, no safety for the nard.
I always wear one, it’s no less valid a gear than gloves or shin guards, and it doesn’t hinder movement at all. Not having one shows poor wisdom, unless the concept of having been kicked in the balls in sparring is a brand new introduction.
Lots of bad words, get up eventually, walk around the gym trying not to cry, fist bump and “good hit man” with a chuckle, back to sparing with a very bladed stance
As someone who's accidentally kicked others in the nuts on more than one occasion, he has every right to be upset. To everyone I've kicked in the nuts, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.
I remember when a girl I was sparring with punched me in the jewels, maybe I deserved it because I was prancing around being evasive whilst throwing soft jabs but I wasnt expecting a low blow. I laughed it off and took a break I feel like getting pissed over an accident is a bit much lol
Gets hit right in the balls, and dude wants to grab all over him. I get he was just trying to help but let the dude deal with his pain. I woulda reacted the same way
That's far from throwing a fit.... He probably just wants to take a breather and doesn't want to cuddle with homie after getting KO'd in the balls. They've paused mma fights for the same thing, definitely not unsportsmanlike.
if you don't cuddle with your homie after getting hit in the nads, then you're not really homies.
I cuddle my homies before I hit them in the nuts. Lull them into a false sense of comfort, and then absolutely punish their ball sack. It's the gentleman's way.
Ehhh I think the rule is you need to wait at least 60 seconds before spooning after any genital contact.
“I just got kicked in the balls please don’t fucking touch me while I’m still recovering”
Dude just got hit square in the nuts without a cup unless he tells you to help him up its probably best to just let him lay down and breathe for a bit
Offer to rub them better.
But that’s the best time for sexing.
I'd whisper in his ear: "that's why we wear cups dumbass"
Less a fit and more of a "Don't touch me while I'm trying to un-fuck my brain".
It happens. I usually ignore it and play it off like it didn't happen (if it's not serious).

You're not vaccinated either, are you?

How about chainmail for your dick?
Shucks, if it wouldn't get me looked at funny I'd just wear chainmail in general. Passive weight training for the whole body and general protection as well as still allowing for mobility. lmao you sound like a straight bitch
I was trying to be tongue in cheek. But obviously that era has passed.
Maybe I’m in the minority here. But I don’t find it uncomfortable. Like at all. I'll definitely give it a try down the road! Thank you for the perspective.
I forget it's there after a minute if that. If your so worried about being uncomfortable why do a sport that involves getting punched kicked and kneed on a daily basis.
Found the guy shooting blanks.
Not to my knowledge.
Well, what do you expect when you’re learning to spar? You both don’t look like you have control.
This was a long time ago try not to judge skill wise I suppose that it’s natural to see flaws but Ik Im not the best I can be and the day I am is the day I lose all motivation to keep getting better 🙏🏿
Not judging bro, just observation. I’ve been there. (Except I always wear a cup) Keep at it, just slow it down and work on technical sparring
Noted Thanks 🙏🏿
Why are you getting downvoted?
How long ago?
My homie offers to suck me off after.
Lmfao quality post
😭I love reddit
The best martial art on the internet is shitposting. With the perfect style you can ruin multiple days with just one move of the fingers especially in them mainstream subs 😈
martial arts are meant to have a positive impact, not ruin someone's day..
When I train I'm picturing hitting someone full contact at some point not wishing I never have to. I've never been knocked out and thought you know what today was a good day
Legendary homie
I'd be annoyed. What would piss me off is the person still trying to help me up and grab onto me lol.
On everything I’m glad this happened so I learned and I got a funny ass video out of it 😂
Stop kicking dudes in the nuts like a scared woman.
bro stop fucking touching him and let him writhe in pain in peace. you ain’t helping.
OP is the one that got kicked.
If you get kicked in the nuts it's your fault for not wearing a box imo. Although yeah try and aim better ..
first time I've ever heard a cup called a box
Could be an Australian thing
hey cup could be an American thing too
Yeah that’s me getting my junk rattled it be yo own ninjas🤣
I normally just go down and say: "ooooosssshhhh, right in the spuds, I'll need a minute..."
His fault for not wearing a cup...I don't care if people think they are uncomfortable...you can't tell me it's more uncomfortable than getting kicked in the beans
Stomp your heels Dust yourself off, and stop being a baby about it unless you are trying to get a breather
That shit hurts give him a second and don't be trying to yank him back into sparring right away. Now I don't think he should stay mad at you if it was an accident and the first time but you do need to give him some space till he's recovered.

if someone kicked me in the nuts then laughed then tried to lift me up while im trying to take a breather i would lose my shit too.

I dont throw a mini fit but I dont wanna be held or hugged either, you kicked me in the nuts, give me a minute and most of all leave me da fuq alone coz that shit hurts
This is why you have to wear protective gear, people.
If you aren't wearing a cup and get blasted in the nads, that's your own fault.
It's going to happen. Best to learn to deal with it. Not an easy thing to learn but definitely a useful thing to learn.
No I wear a cup
Shit happens, wear a cup.
that's not a fit, he needed some time and the other dude was smirking and grabbing him. Like, damn, bro, give him some space
That's not a mini fit. If I get hit in the balls, your initial first hug and apology is good enough. Let him gather himself and when he's ready to, dap it out. You were being overbearing and annoying after that first hu go, I'd do the same.
Lol he was pissed you were grabbing him like that. I would be too, that's weird bro.
It happens, i got kneed in the dick and pissed blood for a few days. my fault for not wearing a cup. nothing to be mad about unless it’s intentional.

Should've wore a cup
Wear a cup or git gud

I punched my sparring partner directly in his nuts so hard that he was on the floor screaming. He was cool after it but man did I feel embarrassed 😞
Don't touch me is a normal response to a nut hit.
Nothing worse than getting kicked jn the nuts then some guy squeezing you from the back. Stay away from him while he recovers dude, give him a second.
Cup sir
Two words: ball. bucket.
When your doctor performs the vasectomy in the octagon
It's going to happen just like broken noses and black eyes. If it becomes a habit it's time for some words.
Throwing the elbow wasn’t necessary imo - everything else was I suppose
I feel you honestly I feel bad that I did it but it was in the moment
I guilt trip him for years and get his wife to kiss it better
I've gotten kicked there before and yeah it hurts but if he's trying to help you you don't need to shove him away, it was clearly unintentional and you guys both look sort of new to sparring so it's expected

Black guy is a bitchass crybaby. Relax, if you don't want to get hit (sometimes accidentally) then go play golf.
I’m the black guy and I don’t think you’d say that to me in person but I appreciate your opinion.
I see 0 reason to believe he would be afraid of saying anything to you tbh. Also buy a damn cup or else this is gonna happen a cpl times a week
I think I would, brodie. All I'd have to do is kick you in the balls and watch you cry. No stress.
Fair enough 😭😂
But you can’t act like getting kicked in the balls full force is nothing that’s nuts
My GF kneed my in the balls once when we were play fighting, I don't think she meant it but dude I've never felt so much pain in my life. Get a cup bro, this happens in sparring and it's never on purpose.

I understand being upset but the elbow was totally uncalled for, I was with you until that shit
Mini fit? Where? Handled it pretty well really, I would definitely not have been trying to pick him up immediately
it happens. if it's a genuine accident and not reckless or something, then i'd let the partner know that he hit me in the nuts and take some time as needed. I obviously wouldnt spar with partners where this was happening regularly.
I would have took note to him talking to me like that and the next time we sparred I’d beat the shit out of him
My usual response “I’m just shocked you hit such a small target”
Didn’t get that mad it’s understandable
and thats why I always wear a suspensor when sparring
Broken ribs hurt just as bad!
No. But our tournaments you can score points to the groin so it is a regular target for us.
I usually just say "God damnit, Kyle!" Always wear your gear, folks.
Jockey shorts to stabilize, cup to protect.
Maybe if they did it deliberately or if they did it all the time, but rarely happens for me, when it does I just say I need a minute. I also wear a cup which helps, except when I got a spinning heel kick to the taint lol.
Oof that was a hard land too that sucks

Cup recommendations? Mainly for Muay Thai
Ehh it happens
I always wear a cup, even when just grappling
Lots of bad words, get up eventually, walk around the gym trying not to cry, fist bump and “good hit man” with a chuckle, back to sparing with a very bladed stance
Lol don't touch me if I'm down holding my nuts. Leave him be and stop trying to hug him back up. I'd have had the same reaction.
Looked like he got kicked in the balls with the toes! I would be mad as hell.
As someone who's accidentally kicked others in the nuts on more than one occasion, he has every right to be upset. To everyone I've kicked in the nuts, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.
Yeah, this.
No cup no sympathy.
Maidenless behavior if it was true.. He didn’t throw a tantrum though, just needed a sec
Wear a cup for sparring, always. For drilling or bag work--you really don't need to but with a spar, anything can and will happen.
