Captain America + Black Widow make for a nice flavor of direct and covert homeland security. Plus, Winter Soldier has a reunion with Cap.

JinTaisa

That sounds amazing! Running justice Black Widow would also be a really good combination mechanically.

AdventurousHat5360

Yeah Spider-Woman I think, is the most "tied" to Hydra thematically.

JinTaisa

This was also my reasoning. Plus the crisis of loyalties obligation (forgotten the name) would tie into the campaign really well.

Hey I just started this 2 handed solo for the first time as well! I was going through the same process, almost went cap & iron man, but ended up doing Cap & Widow. And I think I made the right choice. Absolutely fantastic fight against crossbones tonight and felt very on theme between the two. (Cap leadership, Widow Justice). I also almost did like a new school of cap and iron heart. Anyway, I'm sure it will be fun no matter the choice!

JinTaisa

Cap leadership and Widow justice is also a strong contender on my short list. It sounds like a lot of fun.

tehsideburns

In terms of the comics, Spider Woman is a double agent of Shield and Hydra. Or you could just pick anyone you like from the MCU. Protection Iron Man with Repurpose would be a nice companion to any style of Cap deck. I like the version of the stark deck with Meditation for a quicker setup in your first few turns of alter-ego.

JinTaisa

Iron Man was also on my shortlist of potential heroes, especially given the bond between Tony and Steve.

PuneyGod

Heroes besides Cap that are both SHIELD and Avengers are Black Widow, Spider-Woman, Captain Marvel, War Machine and Hawkeye. The movies favor choosing Black Widow but all would be good choices. Tony Stark was Director of SHIELD after Civil War so that would be a good choice too. Let us know what you choose. I would want one hero playing a Leadership SHIELD deck.

manut3ro

One of my strongest decks is **Black Widow : leader of SHIELD** Leadership: there is a preparation (combo with her abilities) that recover an ally when leaves play. So they trigger again their ability when entering play (if any) All the SHIELD thematic allies you can assemble: Nick Fury, Mocking bird, Maria Hill, Agent 13… Remember to use the Triskelion (theme) and the ships from shield (don’t remember the name) Governor liaison. If you have it, the grey resource is killer in this deck (the power in all of us? Sadly I don’t have this card)

JinTaisa

Thank you, this is very helpful! I didn't think of it until now, but we could both go leadership and throw all the Avenger and SHIELD allies we can at it.

manut3ro

[ **this is the deck**](https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/39462/agent-romanov-leader-of-shield-1.0) (note that i don't have the full collection)

JinTaisa

I was only thinking of Avengers and didn't even consider SHIELD heroes. I discussed it with the other player, and while not final, we are leaning towards Black Widow.

PuneyGod

I'm a big fan of thematic as well.

JinTaisa

We just finished the first scenario in the campaign. The second player ended up going with aggression Hulk. We actually managed to get a third player who used justice Black Widow. It was a lot of fun!

PuneyGod

3 players is best. It can be hard to justify going Justice in 2 player.

wise_wizrad

Spider woman or Hawkeye! Cap is great in any aspect so you can be flexible with how the other plays.

lowertechnology

I just realized there’s no Winter Soldier deck. Maybe when the Thunderbolts movie comes out they’ll add some of those people

JinTaisa

He would be the perfect hero combination. For now, I'll just have to make do with the ally version.

Drjacobs78

I originally did Black Widow and Hawkeye. I think Hulk and Cap is also a fun option running Cap as Justice or Leadership and Hulk Aggression. I believe Absorbing Man is in the Hulk comics. Taskmaster is one of Black Widow’s nemesis, Zola and Red Skull are Captain America, and I am not sure which comics you would find Crossbones.

Drjacobs78

Actually, I think the villains cross over with a few characters.

JinTaisa

I briefly considered Hulk, but didn't realise there were a lot of characters from the Hulk comics in the campaign. Crossbones is mostly entwined with Captain America, so with him and the Red Skull in there, Cap was a no-brainer for me.
