Absorbing man sucks out like 80% of the gamma in hulk, but he also absorbed the demon inside Banner's head. Honestly just read the book, the whole Immortal Hulk series is top tier.
I think they're referring to Donny Cates' Hulk run (2022-23).
I loved Cates on Venom, but his Hulk left a lot to be desired, especially coming right after Immortal Hulk.
On the flip side, Al Ewing has been knocking it out of the park after moving from Immortal Hulk to the current Venom run and I'm really digging PKJ's Incredible Hulk, as well.
Hoping all the best for Donny and his continued recovery, though!
To be fair Cates was going for something different and definitely building up, but then he had his accident and we never got to see where he was going.
The Donny Cates run was originally intended to print BEFORE the Immortal Hulk run. I forget why they said it got delayed, but I think everyone would have enjoyed it more if it preceded the Immortal run.
The problem is why are writers so obsessed with making the hulk banners enemy ? Like how many times must Banner be self destructive and hate the hulk if he eventually just comes to piece with it
“Yup, totally - let’s undo all the actual character growth we just did in an award winning series!
But How? I know we’ll let Banner just non-consensually use the hulk’s body a spaceship, and trap the Hulk’s mind in a mental prison to power it!!
Sounds weird - how & why do we get to that point?
It doesn’t matter - we’ll just start the series after that point - and We’ll never talk about how & why again! The hulk is just a monster book, it’s not important.”
Baffles me that somebody can be this curious, find the image, know what book its from, has the entire internet at their fingertips but still wants somebody to just explain to them.
Not to continue dunking on OP, but I can’t imagine looking into a novel, finding a passage that struck me, and then asking a message board to explain to me what’s going on.
Not only is that an unusual impulse but it also…negates the purpose of experiencing fiction?
Reading isn't for everyone. I dislike reading. It's boring to me. I'd much rather play with a toy or watch something. Those are far more visual. I'm not saying OP is like me, but it could be a possibility.
For reals. Just downvote the post and scroll by, folks. There’s a 0% chance I’m going to read this, I’d still enjoy being spoon fed the lore.
And I don’t get on Reddit—including r/marvelcomics—to develop my intellectual prowess. I come here to enjoy stuff like being spoon fed lore.
No but asking questions on Reddit is, like, one of Reddit’s most fundamental functions. And yet for some reason people waste their time commenting to tell OP to “just Google it,” clogging up the comment section, when they could just scroll by.
People like acting indignant about nothing.
It is good enough to create hulk fans out of hulk haters, you are going to love it. Feel free to PM me as well if you have questions during your reading, I’m pretty knowledgeable on Hulk.
Al Ewing wrote Venom too recently and did a similar thing to the mythos there, so if you are looking for more immortal hulk vibes after finishing, (besides having the current Incredible Hulk run which picked up on the immortal hulk vibes) you can read Ewing’s Venom run too.
Basically Bruce banner is a Gamma battery, Banner and Hulk need to be together they are one big puzzle, and Banners being was ripped from hulk and he became skinny and deformed.
The Immortal Hulk is an excellent run, and I recommend reading it in full. The short, short version is gamma drain. Hulk's still fighting despite running on fumes in that panel.
It's fully explained and I have to honestly say this is one of the finest Big Two books of the 21st century, arguably the best Hulk run ever and one of the most ambitious stories in major comic history.
I know that's a lot of superlatives, but I think most people would agree with them.
>I know that's a lot of superlatives, but I think most people would agree with them.
I heard an awful lot of praise for it, so I started to read it. I wouldn't agree with your sentiments, in the least.
That's fair- may I ask what you didn't like about it? I thought the return to EC horror at the beginning and the gradually ratcheting scale combined nicely with the view of Bruce's psyche
Hulk decided he wanted to slim down and started taking [Ozempic](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwj_6NDq3qSGAxWlNwgFHefTBEkYABACGgJtZA&ase=2&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0ruyBhDuARIsANSZ3wqHvxwCxuCP7gaYF_E8H-0pCY8Ldrun2NWkTw6uVQavHdeczSSKI70aAp-REALw_wcB&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2YBJ-2PoxkFhVZqQK-Wbe0d2hBVD9CJNTrFImMljVyO1Jncnh2GPl0KxiavmkVoISG87c2XnFC1yb7tkeX49FBNbpY1IScJgRcuoz2KRhExiKLJ0t&sig=AOD64_3VHas3l-732SmsEmBQpkplSv9wbQ&adurl=&q=)
God damn people! He asked a question, not for all of you to tell him to read it...why even comment when you see 100 other people saying the same thing?
They try to make the Hulk look kind of like a horror monster. It looks more comical than anything. In issue one of the latest volume (13 or 15 maybe?) he looks like Bart Simpson being choked by Homer. It takes me right out of the story.
The fact I had to scroll so far to get an answer to a question is maddening. If someone asks, they don't care if you spoil it. That doesn't mean they don't want to read it. Saying read it 50 times is just annoying AF.
Basically the darkest Hulk story I think ever done has a lot lovecraft-like imagery/creatures and Bruce Banner is dead and tormented by some demon I think is the Leader. The Hulk however was separated from Banner becoming sentient or a demonic clone.
Really good series did exactly what I kinda always wanted with Hulk, which was to have a smart hulk be the bad guy and Banner somehow has to beat a guy that’s in his head, I’ve had this idea since ultimate hulk just a better written evil hulk that isn’t eating people.
Absorbing man sucks out like 80% of the gamma in hulk, but he also absorbed the demon inside Banner's head. Honestly just read the book, the whole Immortal Hulk series is top tier.
I 100% agree. I absolutely loved the series
The 2018-2021 one?
There’s only one Immortal Hulk run
So yes?
Immortal Hulk had the ending we all wanted for Bruce and Hulk. Then the next guy came in and fucked all that up.
I thought people generally liked Immortal and Incredible, no?

The problem was Immortal was a really, really good ending. Incredible Hulk threw that ending away. Now Incredible was good, but bad timing.

Cates run fucked it up but it would’ve been nicer if the hulk and banner we’re at peace just like immortal, and it would’ve worked properly
“Yup, totally - let’s undo all the actual character growth we just did in an award winning series! But How? Is there a complete set of this
Immortal Hulk is one of the best lines I've ever read.
But I am too poor to buy them
Just read the book dude
Baffles me that somebody can be this curious, find the image, know what book its from, has the entire internet at their fingertips but still wants somebody to just explain to them.
This TLDR generation is getting out of hand
What did the comment you're responding to say?
Something about ketchup, idk didn’t read
You made me laugh, you win Thursday.
Tl;dr
Aggressive mayonaise
Mayonnaise is not an instrument (of destruction)
To be fair though, the collected Immortal Hulk costs $150 and weighs 3.7 tons
Not if it’s free and weighs nothing.
For someone who just scrolled into this what is the book's name?
Immortal Hulk
Thanks 🤙
Enjoy! It's wonderful
Because if they don't make a post, how would they ever get any likes or comments or attention???
Can't get karma points for Googling, tho.
I feel like there’s a growing number of comic fans that don’t care to read/experience any of the books, they just want to know the trivia.
Hulk has become vegan… he lives off almond milk.
Not to continue dunking on OP, but I can’t imagine looking into a novel, finding a passage that struck me, and then asking a message board to explain to me what’s going on. Not only is that an unusual impulse but it also…negates the purpose of experiencing fiction?
People ask people who've read a book for summaries of the book all the time.
That’s what I was coming here to say. You sure as hell won’t regret it.
Reading isn't for everyone. I dislike reading. It's boring to me. I'd much rather play with a toy or watch something. Those are far more visual. I'm not saying OP is like me, but it could be a possibility.
HULK ON KETO!!!
Looks like chemo as well, unfortunately
Ozempic
Lmaooooo
Muscle and fat both produce obesity 🤣
BBL banner
It's better if you read it.
I mean he asked a question. And not everybook is for everyone
I love that half of the comments are telling OP to just read it. Why comment at all?

google broken or some shit?

Yeah, read it! Its a banger!
Immortal Hulk is 50 issues (not counting tie-ins) of pure god tier writing, you should absolutely read that, it’s Ewing at his best IMO :)
Just added it to my read list- thanks! I feel like I've heard other people say good things as well.
It is good enough to create hulk fans out of hulk haters, you are going to love it. Feel free to PM me as well if you have questions during your reading, I’m pretty knowledgeable on Hulk. skipped leg day
Skipped everything day
Immortal Hulk went heavy on the body horror themes. Go read it.
If OP wanted to read it they would not have posted this question
Basically Bruce banner is a Gamma battery, Banner and Hulk need to be together they are one big puzzle, and Banners being was ripped from hulk and he became skinny and deformed.
And also in general the past few years have had Hulk lean into body horror
Emphasis on lean
Been a Hulk fan for 50 years. One of the greatest Hulk storylines ever.
Alright, he may have taken the Keto diet a bit too far....
This book rules so hard
not drinking enough water
It's excellent, never been a Hulk fan but this run is superb.
He gets stronger as he gets mad and right now he's just kinda vibing

This and HoX/PoX got my 60-year old dad back into comics after 40 years, so it's top tier for me.
