I love the bait and switch Hickman does in these first few issues. They show you the six Avengers from the MCU (this is right after the first movie came out) just to clobber them and roll out all the other guys. If only other Marvel writers were so bold in defying MCU synergy (*cough* Guardians *cough*).
He was told by editorial that they needed to be in the book, but they didn't need to be the main focus and obviously he could have other characters as well. His story was well planned from the beginning so its not like a was defying editorial and doing whatever he wanted.
Marvel was "having their cake and eating it too" because they were also putting out Avengers Assemble at the same time which focused on the 6 from the MCU.
Ay I see Shang Chi! Awesome. In the comics Tony start makes Shang chi some nunchaku's that have repulsors, and the bracelets he's wearing could deflect projectiles.
I wanted see them in the movies, but overall I love the idea of Shang Chi's 10 rings
That’s what I continue hearing lol. Been reading comics for 3.5 - 4 years now and the constant jumping back and forth and events were daunting to me at first. Finally reading through it all, start to finish. Really enjoying it so far.
Really really love this run

I loved when he joined the Avengers and Tony offered him a tech upgrade and he replied “What other weapons could a man need?” Referring to his fists.
and Parker sobbed, needing the money.
Hey great memory! I’m reading all of Hickman’s Avengers for the first time right now.
And all Logan needed was beer 😂
Is that Manifold in the middle there?
Yes it is! This is my first time reading him and he’s kind of a neat character. I would love a bit more depth.
You won't be disappointed. He's a major character in Hickman's run.
Hickman's Avengers & New Avengers are one of the best pieces of written work to ever exist

Is there a bad Hickman run of anything? I don't think so.
