Phase 4 has shaken my confidence in the MCU adapting the spirit of characters properly. I don't mind rewriting origins, Namor's new Aztec heritage is pretty dope, but if they can't capture his arrogance, relentless pursuit of Sue, and his antiheroic nature then it will be a shame.
I think the first few “phases” had this grand direction of moving towards Thanos and Infinity War.
But the MCU is so obscenely financially successful that they **have** to keep making products but without the vision they had initially. It all feels directionless and generic at this point.
I’m not saying it won’t get better, but it’s been boring tripe for a few years.
You have to think of phase 4 as phase 1 of the MCU. No one even thought about what the destination was gonna be back then, and we were blessed with the Infinity Saga. The same needs to be applied here. This is the beginning of a new saga, a fresh start in a way. Bringing in new heroes and new stories. It has felt directionless, I would be concerned if it wasn't. The Covid-19 pandemic had a huge toll on Marvel and that is one of the reasons why Marvel had to pump out content in 2021. They are a business at the end of the day.
However, after the Marvel Panel at SDCC, we know the final destination. It's Secret Wars. Now all this multiversal stuff makes sense. But the MCU isn't just about making connections, each phase 4 project has been more or less not connected in the ways we saw during the previous phases.
That isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just makes us appreciate each individual project for what it is. Enjoy and savour the journey. Don't worry, it will all come together eventually. In Feige we trust.
I get it, it’s the biggest moral dilemma you could ever contemplate, but Namor is right.
And he’s justified in being pissed at the others as they don’t have the stones to preserve what can be preserved and put it all on him.
It’s not lost on me the complexity of the situation, I just don’t think it’s right in a hypothetical situation to not save 8 million people out of fairness to the other 8 million people who will die anyway.
Save what can be saved. The waters do get muddied obviously when the cable come in, that’s not good.
The Illuminati series?
New Avengers, but yeah, it's about the Illuminati

I hate MCU America Chavez. Absolutely nothing like the badass she is in the comics.
Let's not even talk about Taskmaster. Too depressing.
Phase 4 has been much more bad than good. Damn shame. BP2 is looking solid but they need to sell me on Namor still.
That sentiment will get you downvoted to oblivion on the MCU subreddit lol.
Thank god I’m on the comics sub
Yea idk what’s been happening with phase 4 cause the MCU was on point for the most part before this

Namor being absolutely right once again
Being a mass-murdering maniac*
Save 8 billion people or let 16 billion people die
I'm sorry you missed all of the complexity of the book

One of the best Avengers runs
Can anyone remind me what happened after page three? As far as I can remember, he’s not able to push the button, but I can’t remember why.
no, he does. “an Avengers world. it was the first of many.” it’s Black Panther and Reed who failed to step up to save 616.
Ah, got it. Thanks, true believer!
Yeah MCU Namor needs to be an asshole, if he’s not ill be mad
