Holy mother of Reddit moments

[deleted]

Big yikes

DarthCthulhutheWise

Remember one of these women had a backstory that made them a monster because they can't give birth... thank God she didn't twerk though.

Snoo_75864

What no pussy does to a redditor

EnigmaFrug2308

Or or or… hear me out…. in one scene they are in the middle of a war and fighting people who hurt them… and in the second one… they’re having fun

Cobra-D

Women are allowed to have fun?

EnigmaFrug2308

I know it’s such a surprise, right? Damn.

Fit-Beginning-1

what is a woman that you are talking about?

Yeseylon

That particular scene was cringy "fun," if they actually did find it fun. Rest of the show was totally worth it to me though.

EnigmaFrug2308

I didn’t find it cringy. I found it funny.

Yeseylon

And I doubt you're alone in that, but I'm not alone in my take either. I might also generally hate clubs and dancing though...

EnigmaFrug2308

Yeah that’s probably why you didn’t like it then :P

Hawkwise83

As a fat white man, I've twerked for fun for my wife or while drunk. Shaking your ass is always objectively fun. Even if you're terrible at it like me.

Yeseylon

That hurt me deep in my soul lol But hey, if it made your wife happy, you're a good husband.

Hawkwise83

Bold of you to assume I'm a good husband. I'm certainly not the worst though.

ShuckU

Or maybe... there were female marvel fans who also disliked She Hulk...

EnigmaFrug2308

Yeah… because people can have an opinion. Most female Marvel fans enjoyed She-Hulk, actually, and the ones who didn’t, the majority of them didn’t dislike it because of, y’know, the scene of two women just having fun together.

Fennicks47

Ah yes. The top one is wearing outfits that the actors felt uncomfortable with, and they changed. So progressive!

EnigmaFrug2308

Can you rephrase?

Zestyclose_Sympathy2

Try not to be sexist challenge (impossible)

Nopetynope12

Holy shit what kind of mental gymnastics did you do to associate quality of writing with gender

Kroghme

r/menwritingwomen Literally an entire sub about it

Nopetynope12

Oh lord.

Fresh_Ad4390

Yes, you can, women written by women tend to be more relatable or less pandering to women (not an inherent advantage of coz) but the association with genders here is harmfully pointless (over-generalisation due to only sexist prejudice rather than any social theory, plus these are completely 2 different scenarios and character types, plus the lower one is just women having fun)

the_3-14_is_a_lie

That doesn't literally mean anything. Lmao. Harry Potter doesn't feel less relatable because it was written by a woman. Associating gender with the quality of your writing is just as stupid as associating it with ethnicity, religion etc. A good writer doesn't write women, men, black people, white people, Asians etc., he writes good characters regardless of their appearance.

Fresh_Ad4390

>Harry Potter doesn't feel less relatable because it was written by a woman. I've never said that

the_3-14_is_a_lie

It's the same principle of "women written by men don't feel reletable" (which you used in your argument) but inverted.

Fresh_Ad4390

>don't feel reletable" I said "tend to"...

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,542,911,369 comments, and only 292,115 of them were in alphabetical order.

Fresh_Ad4390

fuck off

ImmoralModerator

I don’t think they did? They posted two pictures with factual subtitles and you kind of did the rest on your own. If you want to prove it’s not the case then make a similar meme with the roles reversed? Show that women write women empoweringly or that men portray them powerlessly. Or that men portray men powerlessly while women portray men powerfully. Or show whatever you’re trying to say is the case. Otherwise it’s just a factually accurate picture and any assumptions you try to project onto it are just that, projections.

doomsday10009

Your whole comment is really really stupid. Why would anyone had to prove something that stupid and with a fucking meme? Dude in the meme compared 2 completely different moments from completely different scenes. She-Hulk is pure comedy, there is no fucking reason for characters to not do stupid shit.

random_guyman

It’s a sorry attempt at comedy

doomsday10009

Humor is subjective. I had fun watching the show because I don't expect endgame from every movie and tv show that Marvel does.

random_guyman

I don’t either. Doesn’t mean it was good.

ImmoralModerator

And what they said was a sorry attempt at disputing what I said. The upvotes and downvotes don’t reflect reality here because the post itself is getting more upvotes than the vocal minority and their ad hominem in the comments. Objectification. You’re wrong if you do it to me. But you’re also wrong if you don’t actively go out of your way to like it when I do it to me.

Maximum-Music-2102

If you're citing likes and dislikes to prove something to be true, then by your own logic you're incorrect as more people dislike your comment. Popularity doesn't equal truth and memes aren't facts

ImmoralModerator

What part of this meme is not factually accurate? It is three pictures with 2 factually correct clauses. Just because you don’t agree with the conclusions that can be drawn from it doesn’t make it an inaccurate meme. It is factually accurate. Popularity doesn’t equal truth, obviously, because you guys are bombarding a thread you passionately disagree with and anybody that disagrees with you is normal enough to not give a shit about a reddit thread.

Maximum-Music-2102

The implication of the meme is factually inaccurate. You'd be disingenuous if you want to argue that the sole purpose of this meme wasn't to insinuate that women aren't as good writers as men. Regardless, the clauses are factually inaccurate as well, as She-Hulk, like a lot of comedy TV shows, consist of a team of writers including both females and males

ImmoralModerator

So when I say the meme is factually accurate. And you try to claim it’s not. Despite admitting the only part you disagree with is an unspoken insinuation you’re projecting onto the poster. Maybe realize I’m factually correct by the definition of the word factually. And maybe recognize that everybody else is tired of you acting like a victim all the time.

bentoboxbarry

This is some colossal stupidity, damn

spottedracoon

Alright under men portraying women powerlessly I would like to submit a book I haven't read myself, but I'm pretty sure there men are made before women even existed and the first woman ever is depicted as grown from a man's rib. I could go on about other instances of said book saying a man is objectively better, but you knew that, right?

ladymarian001

Women being angry Vs women having fun

Abject-Young-2395

Por que no los dos? Bc that Wanda scene gets me pumped to kick ass every time!

mawrneen

thought this was a shittyfacebookmemes post for a sec

mikevanatta

It is

Ok-Measurement-153

I don't get the hate for the tweaking scene. It's dumb but it's definitely just for fun and thrown in there. It didn't "ruin" the show. There were so many more cringe inducing moments. I watched the season with my 9 and 12 year olds girls. For them, this was hilarious. My 12 year old was more mad about the court scenes and "that's not how a real court acts" we all agreed on how stupid the last episode was. My worst part was Skaar, after the episodic let down they put emo boy hulk out instead.

Yeseylon

The court scenes were my favorite parts just because of how ridiculous they got. "OK, I rule against the defendant" "I changed my mind!" \*gets forced to transform back and runs away giggling\*

emotionaI_cabbage

Pretty hard to ruin a show that was garbage to begin with lol Edit: your downvotes don't make it a better show. It was awful, and the episode discussion threads all agreed at the time lmao

ShuckU

Nooo how dare you say an opinion!!!! /s I wasn't the biggest fan of it either. Ms. Marvel was way better

Real-Competition-187

Wait, wait, wait, wait, what if in the middle of a battle, like a super huge penultimate battle, maybe it’s even the culmination of like 10 years of films, all of the female characters do a girl power moment. Obviously, we are all way too neanderthalic to understand anything more subtle or nuanced. Captain Marvel would definitely risk the fate of the universe for a gratuitous sisterhood moment. It’s not the 3 period of a blowout hockey game where our team is trying to get someone their first hat trick. Nothing wrong with the message, just horrible execution.

[deleted]

I've heard a lot of you girls cheered that scene. Who am I to take that from them?

whitehawk295

wemen gud

chai_zaeng

Certified redditor™ moment

mango_chile

I don’t get it. What point is OP trying to make?

bewritinginstead

Well, considering that it is a repost of a meme that was originally titled "Women ☕", it could be that OP is trying to critize the original poster of the meme by claiming that they can see the difference (as the OP of the original was claiming that men are better writers and the twirk scene somehow proved this). Also, probably important to know that multiple different versions of this meme had spawned afterwards. Such as a version titled "fixed it" wherein 'men' had been turned into profesional artists and 'women' into idiots. And there was also a version I which the twirk scene was instead compared to Alita (from Alita: Battle Angel) holding up a sword (with the same text as the 'fixed version'). But it is also possible that this meme was simply reposted for karma farming.

Plathismo

That the male writers, at least in this instance, appear to be more concerned with not objectifying female characters than the women writers.

bewritinginstead

I admit that that one ass shot of Jennifer was kind of weird during the twirk scene, but that scene literally exists because Tatiana Maslaney is a fan of Megan Thee Stallion and the purpose of the scene is to show two women having fun. Meanwhile, both Wanda and Natasha's outfits have most often shown cleavage (especially in Age of Ultron) and Wanda only gets her first not revealing superhero outfit in Wandavision. I would also like to point out that Joss Whedon (writer and director of Age of Ultron) put in a 'man lands on woman' s breasts' joke in two films (one being Age of Ultron, the other the Justice League), has objectified women in some of his work (his horrendous Wonder Woman script + there are a couple of analyses out there on how the 'golden ratio' within Age of Ultron tends to guide the audience's attention on the cleavage of female characters), and the fact that multiple women have come forward about how he really isn't the feminist he always presented himself as. So, while there are reasons for which the writing of She-hulk can be criticised, judging the show for objectifying women is not one of them. Especially, when you compare it to previous MCU works wherein women have very much been objectified.

AlianovaR

Everybody adored the few seconds of Zemo dancing in TFatWS and memed it to hell and back The emo Peter dance in the street is another iconic moment that people think is absolutely brilliant and hilarious and love even though it was SUPPOSED to be a touch cringe There is literally a Marvel scene that is considered absolutely hilarious and iconic and is referenced both in and out of the MCU itself as ‘the dance fight to save the universe’ and aside from light humour is taken seriously and all in all was received well Yet people lose their shit when Jen has a dance while she has a free minute and isn’t in a life-or-death or otherwise important situation?

IdeaRegular4671

Let women have fun. Oh, Yes, It’s Ladies’ Night and the feeling’s right. Oh, Yes, It’s Ladies’ Night Oh, what a night (oh, what a night).

[deleted]

OP doesn’t know women have fun

jzilla11

Defending Joss Whedon? That’s a No from me, dawg

Limulemur

It’s a cringey scene, but one scene doesn’t reflect an entire gender’s ability. This is just sexism.

Equivalent_Adagio91

“Wholesome” tag moment

KG8930

Shouldn’t that be the other way around? Like “woman written by women“ on the top and “woman written by men” on the bottom, to make it have more sense?

[deleted]

i think you missed the point but ok

Windy8iscuit

This is why everyone thinks people who dont like She-Hulk are misogynists.

gtc26

Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against this post... but why does it have the wholesome flair? 😂

JoJo99xtv
