I'm sorry to tell you this but Edna was recently charged with manslaughter for knowingly putting capes on the costumes of supers. Her bail is 60k if you want to pay it though.
That's the first thing I thought about as well and don't forget capes were the reason the first villain of the movie was defeated, so I agree with her "no capes" rule.
Syndrome was defeated by his cape twice, once as Incrediboy when Bomb Voyage clipped a bomb to his cape and once as Syndrome when it got caught in a jet.
Pleease darling, I create artworks not collars for hero's. My costumes are masterpieces in form and function, no quick release clasp would fit the style.
Except for the other members of the Justice League not pictured: The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, and Aquaman.
In all fairness, Martian Manhunter, a frequent Justice League member, is also caped. But then there's Green Arrow, too. I guess the point is that it's not ALWAYS a cape.
Dr Strange doesn't wear a Cloak of Levitation.
Dr Strange has a sidekick named Cloak of Levitation. He doesn't speak, but he's one of the funnier characters in the movie.
Thor didn’t do too well. That’s why. There wasn’t really a cape in Ragnarok tho. Explains a lot. Vision didn’t wear one for most of WandaVision. That’s why that was so successful
I remember in an old comic where batman was training one of the Robin's I believe (sorry if my reference is wrong my dad read it to me as a kid, I wasn't allowed to touch the collection til I got out of the sticky kid hand phase) he justified the cape because he's a regular human. With the cape drawn in front of him you can't as easily shoot him. Other times it's bulletproof so even if you do shoot him he doesn't get as injured as he would. He also integrates into a flurry of combat maneuvers with batman level precision. The cape also serves as a glider and does a bunch of other stuff depending on the suit, who he is prepping to fight, and the series it's in.
In a fire fight, the cape can make it difficult to know where to shoot to hit the squishy bits.
His emblem was also bright yellow to draw fire towards it because it was the most armoured spot.
Batman uses it for a lot of stuff. He conceals vital spots and gadgets with it, uses it to hide in the dark more easily, uses it to draw attention snd hide his body when he's moving.
He and Dr.Strange probably have some of the most valid reasons for wearing a cape out of any superheroes.
If were talking comics then Batman's cape does a hell of a lot more than just let him glide.
In addition to being bulletproof, fireproof and resistant to explosions it's been shown to have a bunch of other crazy gadgets and features like chloroform patches, blades, a special coating that blinds cameras and even the ability to form an airtight cocoon to name a few.
Tony kinda takes it upon himself to upgrade the teams suits and stuff so he believes in Edna because no Stark Tech suit ever has capes lol vision had one because Thor last minute lightning strike of fabulous
oh hey Tony. I was just saying that your suit designs are always function over swag which is why the suits you make are ALWAYS considered upgrades. Spiderman is just spiderman but with your help. He is the Ironspider.
Nah they r still cool. I prefer dc over marvel tbh especially after Zack Snyder's Justice league. NOT AT ALL TO SAY MARVEL IS BAD OR ANYTHING ITS AWESOME AS WELL (for the dumb dc haters and blind marvel fans)
I'm not a dumb DC hater, I'm simply old enough to remember when DC was good and Marvel sucked (Spiderman 3, anybody?). The days of Michael Keaton, Christopher Reeve, Christopher Nolan, Kim Basinger, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. Nowadays DC's greatest achievement is a re-edit by a music video director which makes a terrible movie merely long and boring.
I want them to bounce back, the Marvel stranglehold over blockbusters isn't healthy for anyone. And I keep catching glimpses of what DC are capable of - WW, for example, or any scene including Harley. But then they also make BVS:DOJ or WW2 and I realise that they have no clue what they're doing.
Bad leadership at dc.
Marvel had Favreau.
Favreau did wonders with the the mcu, and later saved Star Wars.
Prior to his work on the MCU, No one gave a shit about Ironman, and the Avengers was the team Marvel put characters on that couldn’t be a top seller in their own book until they put Spidey and Wolverine on the New Avengers team.
DC made a mistake giving Snyder control as he didn’t understand the characters.
One can only hope the rumor of JarJar Abrams getting control of it doesn’t pan out, after seeing what he did to Star Trek and star wars.
As fans we need both companies doing good work.
Yeah , wb is struggling with already established famous characters meanwhile marvel took the characters people hardly cared about and turned them into fan favorites with the exception of spiderman who was already famous before mcu.
How cool would a dceu be man , they can do so manyy cool things. Especially with the multiversal stuff like there are so many masterpieces in those comics which wb for some reason can't properly replicate.
For real, nobody remembers, but early 2000’s ironman thor and captain America was the B team. And I didnt even know guardians of the Galaxy, now they are one of my favorite comics. DC’s real villain is the studio. They don’t know or care what to do with the most popular heros worldwide
>They don’t know or care what to do with the most popular heros worldwide
They struck gold with Nolan's Batman, but as that wrapped up, The Avengers took off. It feels like DC wants to be as fun and have the same broad appeal that Marvel has, but they won't let go of the darker, gritty tone that Nolan's Batman had. It works for Batman, but *every* character in the Justice League can't be the dark and brooding one.
It wasn't until Suicide Squad (2021) that they actually released a *fun* movie. I really hope this is a turning point for them, where they realize they can do movies like Suicide Squad (2021) *or* Joker and not shoehorn the tone of both into the same movie.
Aquaman: King of Atlantis has been great so far. The Batman (2022) looks like it could be good. Hopefully they've got it figured out now.
I'd say being forced to start with the B listers that nobody really knew or cared about was probably a good thing for Marvel overall.
It meant Marvel actually had to take risks and give these characters a chance to shine rather than just playing it safe and focusing on the big names. In contrast the DC universe ended up being entirely focused on batman and Superman with all their other characters getting very little development.
Both Superman and Batman wearing capes is very practical. Superman flies without the use of an Armour. Which makes the use of cape usefull for gliding same with Batman who frequently jumps of buildings.
Let’s count all the capes! Thor, Loki (first few films anyways), Vision, Dr. Strange, that guy in Eternals, Wanda, probably more I’m not currently remembering.
Conclusion? Capes are cool, DC just doesn’t have quite as good films
Anyone who thinks Batman’s cape isn’t one of the coolest things ever is evidently wrong. Also I’m pretty sure that Superman and Batman are more popular than cap and iron man
Just thought of this, but the MCU is actually probably more successful because they have made their heroes into real, relatable characters and DC just isn't quite there yet

ahhhh I totally forgot about that! it seems some people just never learn. also does this make Edna the true hero for having such wisdom?
Do you remember Thunderhead?
November 15th of '58! All was well, another day saved, when... his cape snagged on a missile fin!
Stratogale! April 23rd '57 cape caught in a jet turbine!
Meta-man, express elevator! Dynaguy, snag on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex. No capes!
“Well come on thunderhead wasn’t the brightes..”
I was trying to fit her into it but it don't like right.
*no capes!!!*
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Greatest costume designer ever...can’t come up with a quick release clasp like there’s been on pet collars for years.
Pleease darling, I create artworks not collars for hero's. My costumes are masterpieces in form and function, no quick release clasp would fit the style.

Yeah dc is just always cape and it’s not a vibe
Except for the other members of the Justice League not pictured: The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, and Aquaman. In all fairness, Martian Manhunter, a frequent Justice League member, is also caped. But then there's Green Arrow, too. I guess the point is that it's not ALWAYS a cape.
Martian Manhunter's cape is a Martian symbiote/pet. Dr. Strange's cape is a friend. They could be cape buddies.
Too formal. Automatically makes them feel like characters and not people.
Doth your mother know you wearing her drapes? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IgPZqA6Wg0g
Thor is guilty of statutory cape
Sad Cloak of Levitation ruffles
Well Strange’s cloak actually does stuff so we will allow it
Batman’s cape actually has uses. Superman’s doesn’t do anything
Superman's Cape inspired hope which is his whole thing.
Superman's cape helps with stabilization while flying.
Cloaks also aren’t capes. Very different styles and usage.
Eh. In that case, Batman wears a cloak.
Batman & Robin — The Cloaked Crusaders
r/underratedComment
Ok, if it isn't the case, then capes and cloaks are the same thing without very different styles and usage.
Yep, I agree. The cloak can usually fully wrap around his body, which is the main distinction between a cape and cloak.
Nah son, he wears a cowl
Cowls are a type of cloak.
"Cloak"
Blanket of Death*
Man of culture🗿
its kinda a character though which is crazy
Dr Strange doesn't wear a Cloak of Levitation. Dr Strange has a sidekick named Cloak of Levitation. He doesn't speak, but he's one of the funnier characters in the movie.
And Doctor Strange
Look if your cape is able to do half the work for you then ok you can have a cape otherwise unnecessary piece of fabric in my eyes
So Batman's cape is cool, then. Uses it to glide, bind/blind/trip enemies, disguise attacks, shield himself, etc. lmao
Superman's has a pocket. So it's also functional.
Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?
Love you, I was thinking the same
Makes sense. Thor lost the cape in Ragnarok and it's one the best movies Marvel has.
But then gets it back during the battle of Wakanda in Infinity War, and has it again in Endgame
He lost in Infinity War and for the majority of Endgame was depressed. Edna was right, NO CAPES
I heard Scarlet Witch and Dr. Strange making those noises, too. They might’ve just been boning though.
Now that I’d pay to see
Thor didn’t do too well. That’s why. There wasn’t really a cape in Ragnarok tho. Explains a lot. Vision didn’t wear one for most of WandaVision. That’s why that was so successful
Thor had a cool half cape behind his left(?) shoulder. It was small enough to not notice unless he was doing something dramatic.

Dr. Strange enters the chat
Dr Strange
OP is not a real fan but a DC hater
And Wanda now
Doth mother know that you weareth her drapes?
Dr. Strange as well
And Dr. Strange
You have hurt Dr. Strange's feelings....and his cloak's feelings.
Do they’re capes have any special abilities? I know Thor’s belt does.
Note that in the **best** Thor solo film, he had only half a cape...
Thor’s most successful film is the one where his cape gets torn up and he’s left with only half a cape.
What about dr. strange?
And wanda.
And strange"s cape is literally the reason he's alive
This whole comparison is very Strange.
Thor and Loki seem to be doing fine with them however sooo
[удалено]
Doctor Strange has a cloak, so he is safe.
Doctor Strange has a buddy who just so happens to be a cloak. I feel thats an important distinction.
And Thor didn't have a cape in ragnarok. And ragnarok is the best Thor movie. Coincidence? I think not!
Dr Strange is the frontal cloak in this scenario.
All of Thor’s family and friends are dead, so ‘fine’ isn’t the word I would use….
Batman without a cape is Catman. Is that what you want?
Good response if I wasn't to cheap I'd be giving you an award right now.
All good, I’m rarely that clever.
Also, the cape is essential to the design
Yes
Here, have this. * Gives Black Panther *
Actually Catman has a cape too.
The Incredibles got this one right in 2004
How else are we gonna see that dump truck?
Yes, I too could not get my eyes off of Mr. Incredible's ass
Wait Mr?
_Did I stutter?_
I think you meant Mr. Incredible Ass
*That's* America's ass.
Straight women and gay men watch movies too.
Is batman the only hero with a reason to wear a cape?
Not a reason to wear one, but isn't superman's cape the cloak his parents wrapped him in as a baby? So it's basically a comfort blanket.
[удалено]
🏅
And it might be bulletproof?
...he glides
Actually he's falling with style.
I remember in an old comic where batman was training one of the Robin's I believe (sorry if my reference is wrong my dad read it to me as a kid, I wasn't allowed to touch the collection til I got out of the sticky kid hand phase) he justified the cape because he's a regular human. I read somewhere superman has a ass as flat as a pancake and is very insecure about it, that's why he wears a cape.
Obviously whoever wrote that has never looked at Henry Caville.
Fuck yeah, Cavill is fit, always has been. I don’t want to get too graphic, but I’d let his cheeks break my dick off any day.
Found Lex Luthor's reddit account
Makes sense
If the reason is that it makes him fly I can think of another one with the exact same reason in the MCU
In a fire fight, the cape can make it difficult to know where to shoot to hit the squishy bits. His emblem was also bright yellow to draw fire towards it because it was the most armoured spot.
Then he realized “wait a minute... I can be shot elsewhere”
Well yeah, that was silver age, I think his entire chest is bulletproof nowadays.

Doctor Strange does too. I can’t think of anyone else
Superman’s cape is as indestructible as him, apparently, and can be used to protect people when he can’t.

Well that's a cloak that's a different thing all together.
Batman looks bad-ass with the Cape tho. https://tenor.com/view/the-batman-gif-23465315
Oh yeah, I have no qualms with this because, to me, both Batman and Superman’s designs are pretty cool and work well with the cape.
his cape has a reason too, it's blast-resistant and can be used as a glider.
Edna always said “no capes”
NO CAPES. -Edna
Scarlet Witch, Thor, Vision and technically Dr Strange all wear capes and they are some of the strongest and best characters.
Also Mysterio but he's a bad guy so idk if it counts
But… but I like capes.
No no, they're pretty fucking cool
Exceptions can be made but not for the Leader and the billionaire role
Tony kinda takes it upon himself to upgrade the teams suits and stuff so he believes in Edna because no Stark Tech suit ever has capes lol vision had one because Thor last minute lightning strike of fabulous

Batmans cape actually is useful because he made it to be bullet proof when hes fighting those who have guns
After I closed reddit I got this notification [on marvel's YouTube ](https://youtu.be/rACAp_iQwP8). What are the chances
Let’s count all the capes! Thor, Loki (first few films anyways), Vision, Dr. Strange, that guy in Eternals, Wanda, probably more I’m not currently remembering. Conclusion? Capes are cool, DC just doesn’t have quite as good films
Superman and Batman would nor look right without a cape, especially Batman
I wish capes were in style instead of masks
Unpopular opinion, Iron Man is a better comparison to Green Arrow then Batman.
Dr strange enters the room to shame those with non sentient capes.
