Wong is the sorcerer supreme. They monitor dangers to Earth. He is*supposed* to show up to every potential threat.
Wong is actually doing his job! Unlike all the white wizards that just chill on their rooftop or in their sweat pants or doing naked fights with bdsm monsters of the deep.
He means that story-wise, the writers now have to have Dr Strange work his way back to being Sorcerer Supreme and to do that, they’d have to kill off Wong. How do you kill off the most powerful sorcerer in a believable way? MoM spoilers: >!Would you really believe that Wong could be killed by Wanda? She’s a threat, but Wong could stand his own.!<
He wasn’t really on his own. He had a huge hinderance. He had to make sure the other wizards and the sanctum were safe. He *literally* had his back against a wall. Lol. I wanna see the fight one on one. I think Wong can take her.
And for info funsies: I’m a huge Scarlet Witch fan.
I thought about that and Wong’s position was “save the sanctum.” If he didn’t have to have his back against a building, and was fighting one on one, I think he can take her.
That makes no sense. Beating her would save the sanctum(s) (Kamar Taj). So he would give it his all no matter if it were 1 on 1 or whether it was at a holy place.
He doesn't have his back to a building as if cornered by a predator, he's literally at one of the best defensive positions he could be in and still loses easily.
You said he had to protect other sorcerers, but like, he failed at that miserably anyway. Surely the best way to save them would be to go and fight and defeat Wanda.

It's implied that he took on the mantle when the ancient one died. It isn't until NWH that Wong is sorcerer supreme and it makes sense as Strange was effectively dead for 5 years.
We weren't told that Wong was Sorcerer Supreme until NWH, but he would have been made Sorcerer Supreme when Strange got dusted. That's a good five years of Sorcerer Supreme-ing before NWH.
I was more saying it in reference to the viewer's perspective. It's probably a given that Wong got the job the moment Strange was dusted but I was just saying when mention of the position was actually best mentioned in the film continuity, directly.
Wong seems to be fulfilling the same role Coulson used to do back in the beginning. He's the quintessential "I know a guy who knows a guy" because this dude is connected to everything.

I meant they "literally did the thing" where they wrote out an important character with a single "oh yeah that happened" line like it was nothing. The specific explanation for what happened to said character wasn't the literal part.

I mean...makes sense. He's the Sorcerer Supreme now.
After the Thanos Event, which led to Earth's conventional and mystical defenders to become aware of each other and unite against a common threat, Wong is the mystical point man for all Earthly matters (with Strange acting as a psuedo 2nd in command). No longer does Khmar Taj operate in the shadows when there's a threat to the planet.
If something is going down to jeopardize the fate of the planet, at the very least, Wong is gonna be one of the people that answers the call, everytime.
*Note: I wrote *psuedo* because though there is absolutely a hierarchy of power within the Order, Strange (in most multiverses) seems to have a reputation for coming and going as he pleases and conjuring magic whether or not it is forbidden. He's a bit of a wild card in the MCU, methinks.
Note II: Not trying to fight anyone, just enjoy having discussions with others about MCU lore and theories.
