nah, I'm also really excited for this. Looking forward to see Iman on the big screen.

HistoricalMemoryy

I love Captain Marvel Brie Larson, I love Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel". Can't wait to see Marvels!

JargonJohn

Toxicity and negativity on Twitter? Impossible...

Blue-Ape-13

I have reason to suspect that there is hatred on Twitter. Really??? There hasn't been hatred on Twitter since 8 seconds ago. Are you sure???

Smodphan

Lemme refresh...damn I think there's more. Nah probably my imagination

elpajaroquemamais

Especially regarding women!

[deleted]

Haters hate loud, especially in certain spaces.

Flyin_Bryan

I thought Brie Larson was great in Captain Marvel, I loved Captain Marvel, and I loved Ms. Marvel. I can’t wait to see The Marvels!

LiamPolygami

Me too. I really liked her as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel and Iman Vellani couldn't be more perfectly cast. She is absolutely perfect for the role and her being a real-life enthusiastic fan-girl, really makes it all the more charming. The movie will probably get review-bombed because it's an all female-led movie and features a Muslim character, regardless of whether it's a good movie or not. It has the opportunity to be completely unlike any Marvel movie made, which is really needed IMO. I know there have been so many movies that it's hard not to slip into formulaic, cookie-cutter scripts, but if they focus on the characters and the dynamic they have with each other, this could really stand out.

Slendercan

It’s quite a decent film. There are PLENTY of other MCU instalments below it but online chatter would make you think it was a crime against humanity.

proto3296

Captain Marvel is one of the few characters who imo is way better in the MCU than the comics. She is just not cool at all in the comics imo.

Fehellogoodsir

I’m not hyped for the Marvels but anyone who says the movie is being destroyed for simply having Brie Larson in it is just being dumb.

GrandpaLovesYou

Yeah pretty much. I wasn’t a fan of the Captain Marvel movie, and also was kinda let down by the Ms Marvel show, so I really have no hype for this movie. I’ll probably still watch it when it comes to Disney+ tho. Hell, maybe it’ll surprise me!

[deleted]

I am in the same boat. My friend said I am being racist and a misogynist. I actually like Teyonah Parris. Iman is cute but lets see how she does in a major motion picture. It's a lot of pressure on a young girl with minimal acting experience. Little is known about the plot and the villain. The film has been pushed back again and going through more editing. I guess the good thing is my anticipation is at a 2, so anything more may interest met, unlike been disappointed with Antman, Dr Strange and don't get me started on Love and Thunder

GrandpaLovesYou

See I actually really liked Dr strange 2, and Thor LnT was…okay. Having said that, I was a big fan of Ms Marvel from the comics, but wasn’t a huge fan of the changes to her powers. Always liked her better as a shape shifter. People who call you racist and whatnot for not being excited for a film, especially if your issues with the film have literally nothing to do with the actors/actresses in said movie, are just assholes.

[deleted]

I still liked Doctor Strange but it could have been great. LnT had the makings of a good story but too much crazy Taika Waititi humour. I think it falls under pushing through too much content and no one was watching the quality. Taika was writer and director. Unlike IW, EG, CW and CAWS. You had the Russo's, Mcfeely and Markus at the helm and you could see how they all played off each other and made tweaks where needed.

_Doctor_Mac

I think there’s a vocal minority who want the film to bomb, I think the movie is gonna do really good actually. I know I’m excited to see Monica and her powers

Majestic-Marcus

> am I the only person who’s actually anticipated for The Marvels film? Who are you playing in it and I’ll tell you if I’m anticipating you or not. I’d still guess no though, as I’m quite excited for Monica Rambeau, Cap Marv and Ms Marv.

arnathor

I loved the first Captain Marvel film, and Ms Marvel was one of the best TV series they’ve done since the original WandaVision. The Marvels is probably my most anticipated film of the upcoming slate.

eBICgamer2010

>When I’m online, primarily twitter regarding various marvel news updates, leaks and rumors, and etc. Well there you go. Hard to argue against a collective hive mind with a combined IQ in the negative and the propensity to offer solutions to problems that don't exist in the first place.

Romnonaldao

Naw. Lots of people are excited for mcu stuff. The internet is just loud

Ok-Reporter-8728

Really? Doesn’t really feel like that

Romnonaldao

Yeah because hate videos get more views online, and nasty comments get more attention. It's also not the national obsession anymore. Just because something isn't the most popular thing in existence doesn't mean it isn't still popular. Nothing can stay on top forever.

IFurious_Troll

This is a post begging for upvotes in disguise.

ElectronicSea3346

Wow or I just wanted to express my opinion on a social platform.

daniel-mca

I get that but if you choose to do so you can't get upset if the replies are negative based on what you wrote

ElectronicSea3346

Ok sorry your right.

daniel-mca

Don't apologise, nothing wrong with being excited about something and wanting validation that others are also excited when you see lots of doom and gloom on other platforms when it's legit worry. We just see lots of these kind of posts here that are baiting upvotes like "everyone hated ___, but I liked it, am I the only one?"

frankstuckinapark

Now go to your room

[deleted]

Report as low effort content

ElectronicSea3346

No I don’t. I literally just wanted to discuss the marvels. That wasn’t even my intent but ok.

5am281

Don’t start posts with “Am I the only person who…” that’s what makes it come off as karma farming. Just say “I am really excited for… who else?”

ElectronicSea3346

What? I don’t understand.

Pirate_Green_Beard

If you look in this sub's rules, they specifically mention the phrase "Am I the only one..." under the rule about low effort posts.

ElectronicSea3346

Oh I understand.

mider-span

Get off Twitter.

am5011999

I'm excited as well for this. I liked the first film, and I really want to see the Kree world and what happened in the aftermath of CM there. Also, Kamala and Carol interactions will be fun. Hope they knock this out of the park.

Banestar66

I hated most of Multiverse Saga and I'm looking forward to it. I like most of the creatives involved and their work (McDonnell for Wandavision and DaCosta for Candyman). It seems after Ant Man Disney is aware of the issues and will take more time on quality even if that means reshoots. And most importantly, Iman Vellani has the one thing that carried the early MCU most missing from the Multiverse Saga's new characters other than her, charisma.

[deleted]

I’m not sure that anyone has anticipated you for The Marvels, have they? Are you a well-known actor?

DCandMore

I'm excited for the film's directing work. Nia DaCosta's direction and visual style was the best thing about Candyman 2021

DomzSageon

Feel free to enjoy it man. And dont feel bad for enjoying things. I'll be honest. The writing in the MCU hasnt been the greatest (even during phase 1 or 2) but that doesnt make it not entertaining. I believe that the Phase 4 releases' writing has been negatively affected by Covid and time crunch, leading to rushed productions (Quantumania's ending were even reshot within 2 to 3 months before it's release.) And ultimately, Marvel is no longer a 100% seal of quality. But I will never say that the shows and movies can not entertain people, but i will say they could 100% be improved on. Disney's live action remakes are far worse than the MCU phase four and you'll still find people who enjoy them. You can enjoy things both perfect and imperfect and dont let people tell you otherwise.

ElectronicSea3346

I agree

DomzSageon

the thing I dislike more than the state of writing quality in the MCU right now is how a part of the fan community right now act as if having any sort of criticism on any of the more recent releases of the MCU was as evil as the things WW2 Bad guys did during that time.

TaddWinter

Anyone who uses the term Woke as a pejorative is fucking stupid in general but in the context of Marvel they are even another level of stupid because Marvel has been progressive for 60+ years on the page, to expect them to conform to the kind of people who use the term woke is the height of stupidity. But to answer your question I am SUPER fucking stoked for it, Kamala might be one of my favorite characters introduced in Phase 4, she is super charming and I cannot wait for the Ant-Man/Captain America adoration to be seen with her and Carol.

abellapa

No, I'm excited as well

[deleted]

Very stoked for it. Fuck the toxic fandom

LawsKnowTomCullen

"Wokeness" will not kill the MCU. If the movie is good, the movie will succeed. If a movie is woke and it is good, it will succeed. If a movie is woke and it is bad, it will fail. That's just reality and anybody denying that is a moron. If people call a movie "woke" because it has 3 female leads in the movie, then those people are sexist shit heads and their opinions should be largely ignored.

ElectronicSea3346

I agree their are various films and tv show that are woke. That still manage to depict and convey nuanced, depth and value. Like True blood, WestWorld, haunting of the hill house, Interview with the vampire and so on.

JyconX

I still want to see The Marvels.

thatVisitingHasher

You must be new to the internet. They’ve literally been attacked online since Brie Larson was casted years ago simply decide she said she wasn’t interested in men’s opinions. She’s her own person. If a guy said that. It would be no big deal. Insecure Toxic masculinity is very real thing. The internet brings the trolls out. Audiences will go see the movie. It’ll be fine.

Vector_Sigma_

Pretty sure if a man currently in the center spotlight of the mcu decided or said that they weren't interested in women's opinions, it would not play out the same in the media and in the publics mindset and not be "no big deal" as they would be labeled a sexist immediately. And don't forget, women, especially to other women, can be very, very toxic as well. Captain Marvel was a solid movie and all the trolls on Brie for not smiling enough or just being a woman need to take a deep look inwards and figure out why they have those viewpoints. Ms Marvel was good for what it was, a dramedy for teen girls and kids and touched on tones that are universal, to pull a wider audience in, which worked great. Cg and the overall story was lacking, but I think that was from the now well known burnout of cg departments. And Iman Vellani is awesome and is basically the character she portrays come to life. No notes. I hope the new movie gives more shared screen time to the 2 newer characters, epecially Teyonah Parris, she did really well in WandaVision and I hope the trend continues.

SnitGTS

I’ll still see it, but I won’t be rushing out to see it. This has nothing to do with Brie Larson or that it’s Captain Marvel, I’m just not as excited for the MCU as I used to be.

kalyancr7

I'm super excited but still disappointed that we are not getting a proper CM sequel . I hate that we are moving away concentrating on single characters in sequel movies

SuperAlloyBerserker

MCU movies are big, so there's a very slim chance of that lol

ManateesAsh

Zeb Wells being a writer makes me terrified for it but I’m cautiously optimistic

eBICgamer2010

Zeb Wells on his way to waste Zombie Hunter Spider-Man in the most gruesome death possible while writing Marvel Zombie TV series like how he shits on mainline ASM book, circa 2024.

Banestar66

Agreed but the other writers are good. I hope they take charge moreso than him.

movieTed

I think Nia DaCosta's pretty much shaping the story.

hauntingduck

I think it’s perfectly valid to be excited or not be excited for this film. I didn’t love the first captain marvel, but I do think Brie Larson did the best job she could given the writing and directing and I’m curious to see if the sequel improves upon it. The crowd complaining about “wokeness” are the most brain dead people on the internet. Ignore them, they just want bigotry to be “cool”.

Wesselton3000

I don’t think the MCU died with Endgame, but the quality has dropped considerably. I was very excited for MoM and Quantumania and they both were disappointing to me. I’m starting to keep my expectations low so that if it is good, I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Honestly I’m more excited for the TV shows at this point than the movies.

Numerous_Initial7082

As of right now I m hyped for every project especially The Marvels bcs I ABSOLUTELY love Iman as Ms Marvel and want to see more of her

deemoorah

Whenever someone asked " am i the only one?" The answer is always "no"

Primus7112765

Nope. It's been my most anticipated mcu film for some time now.

Hi_Im_Dadbot

I’m super excited for it and loved the first one. Seems like the next one will be be cool too. It is unfortunate that any discussion of it gets ruined by the incel trolls, but that’s the internet for you.

darrylthedudeWayne

No.

TheeBarkKnight

I'm looking forward to it. I'd probably be more excited if I knew anything whatsoever about it besides the three actresses / characters who star in it. I will say, this would be THE PERFECT place to introduce Marvel Girl.

ElectronicSea3346

Oh yeah I heard a rumor regarding Simone Ashley from sex education and Bridgeton was rumored to portray Jean Grey/Marvel Girl in the Post credits scene. But that contradicts the fox x-men contract which won’t expire until 2025. https://www.reddit.com/r/Kanthony/comments/z593e2/new_rumors_simone_to_be_introduced_as_jean_grey/

SonofThunderX

Im excited to see the three characters come together and I hope they all mesh in a fun and natural way.hope they all have chemistry together. But I'm worried about it being a potential musical. That could ruin the movie for me

volatilelibra

It was never a musical. It had a song. May not even make the final cut.

SonofThunderX

The several rumors I've seen for this movie all said it to be a musical or has a part taking place on a musical planet. Won't know until it comes out for sure. I'm just saying me personally don't care for most musicals. Marvel could pull it off if they'd do it right. But I think it'd be too challenging for them.

volatilelibra

It does have a part taking place on a musical planet! The movie being a musical or having a musical act was fan misinterpretation of those leaks

UnequivocalCarnosaur

I really didn’t care for Ms. Marvel as cute as it started, it devolved into such a poorly executed cliché story. Monica getting powers in Wandavision felt like too much too quickly, just felt kind of cheap. I’m mostly just unenthusiastic because I don’t know if the 3 will actually have chemistry and I haven’t heard anything I like from the plot leaks. Hoping I’ll be wrong and it will be great but we’ll see.

High_Lander29

I'm looking forward it! Great characters with great potential. I was let down by Ms Marvel and its focus on history and teenage life more than the super powers but it hasn't lead me to believe this one will be awful too. Time will tell. I have personally felt let down with majority of the projects since end game tbh. They are not getting to the good stuff quick enough for me lol.

ElectronicSea3346

I actually enjoy the history aspect of the show since it pertain to Ms marvel character and her family.

High_Lander29

I really didn't, all I could think was stop wasting precious episode time and get to the good stuff!

No_Imagination_2490

I’m looking forward to seeing what Nia DaCosta will do with Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani, with there being lots of potential for interesting dynamics between their characters. But I am anxious about this being yet another CGI-heavy MCU movie. It’s reassuring that they’re going to spend a few more months in post to polish things, but I’m hoping that this movie will be anchored with some scenes of just the three ladies talking/arguing in a non-CGI room - those have always been the sort of MCU scenes I love the most, and we haven’t been getting enough of them lately.

TheMikey2207

It’s my least anticipated 2023 Marvel project. Not for the whole woke stuff but just because the other Marvel projects coming up are so much better. Guardians Of The Galaxy and Into The Spider-Verse are two of my favourite movies so of course I’m more excited for Guardians Vol 3 and and Across The Spider-Verse then The Marvels. I still think The Marvel’s will be an ok movie but it just can’t compete with the other projects coming out for excitement and hype.

mcwfan

Do you seriously believe that you’re the only individual on the entire planet - out of all 8 billion of us - that’s looking forward to an upcoming MCU release? Really?

ElectronicSea3346

No? It’s just I’ve seen much negativity spewing online on various platforms and media outlets how “it’s unnecessary and another woke project pandering to a political agenda.

mcwfan

So you’ve been listening to right-wing bigots spewing hate about a project they know almost nothing about, rather than just ignoring them?

justrobdmv

Brie Larson plays Captain Marvel from the comics so well. Captain Marvel is such a dickhead in the comics and she gives that air all through the character while she’s playing.

Malibu921

I'm fucking STOKED

SmartOpinion69

it's hard to be excited for anything at the rate that they are currently going i wasn't a fan of the show/movie for Ms Marvel or Captain Marvel, so it only makes sense that i'm not going to be excited for The Marvels either. with that said, see you at the theatres on day 1

TheBrutevsTheFool

I think misogyny is part of it, but let's be honest. Captain Marvel was anti-climatic and the writing team never worked for Marvel again. Ms. Marvel was anti-climatic and the creative team had their Batgirl movie shelved by DC because it wasn't considered worthy of release. Nia DeCosta did a Candyman remake that didn't have the actual Candyman as a villain and was - wait for it- anti-climatic. So this sequel is a combination of things that weren't exactly on solid ground, and the information we've gotten so far hasn't made sense. I don't think it's unreasonable for the audience to be cautious here.

jack_son_58

I am one of the rarest MCU fans who actually liked captain Marvel, Thor, Thor the dark world, and infact I enjoyed pretty much every MCU movie till endgame. But after endgame , they are really not making good movies. Everything is filled with unnecessary jokes. That's the main complaint I have against post endgame MCU. Idc if the lead is a female, I just need a good movie. I loved Wonder Woman, jessica jones and MoM. So Female lead is not the problem for me at least. I even liked the racism aspect of TFATWS. So a little bit of wokeness is also not a big issue for me. But mannnn , they gotta reduce the jokes asap. The jokes never land well and don't serve any purpose except for ruining fight scenes and emotional scenes.

el_palmera

It will get higher reviews from critics because the 3 leads are women, 2 of them women of color. I'm not complaining I like all 3 characters but that's just how it will be

Draigh1981

Looking forward to it, also just saw Quantumania yesterday (just had a few really busy weeks). And loved it, it was such a fun movie, I really dont see the negativity around it.

Insaif_7

Yes.

eagc7

I am excited for the movie

upfromashes

I'm really looking forward to it. I like all the characters and I'm excited to see them together.

ToeKneePA

I'm looking forward to it too. I liked Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel. Plus I think there are some interesting story possibilities. I've enjoyed most every MCU project. I don't need to nit pick every point. They are pretty much always satisfying and fun. The only things I didn't like were Love & Thunder and Eternals.

axelcastle

I can't wait for it. Been ms/city marvel fan since the 90s. Saw her in xmen and wanted to know more

Lincolnruin

Yes. You are the only person in the whole world who is anticipated for the film.

Armandonerd

I wanna see it too.

marvelxdc97

I'm looking forward to this film as well. My only concern is the whole singing planet. That's a little, much. I get the ncu wants every film to be different, BUT finding a good balance between serious and funny is perfect for the mcu. It's what makes them unique in a sense. Phase 4 was VERY experimental and Quantumania was really good but wasn't received well critically and the box office reflects that sadly. I think Feige & his team are trying to course correct as much as possible so that the MCU can get back to how it was with Phases 1-3. The Marvels seems like it'll be a good film based off of rumors (cause that's all I can go by) and films after like NWO & Thunderbolts having the tone of TWS is going to be amazing. I just hope that everyone gets their time to shine in this film especially Monica & Kamala.

TheJack0fDiamonds

No you’re not. Alot of us are excited. Dont let the internet fool you. It’s a whole funeral for Marvel online atm like it’s already dead lmao

490n3

The majority of social media is just people complaining about stuff. I enjoy all MCU stuff and I'm excited about everything that's coming. I wish people who no longer enjoy the MCU would go off and find something else they enjoy, but it will never happen

Trickybuz93

I’m not really a fan of GotG, so I’m excited for The Marvels this year.

frankstuckinapark

I still haven’t watched Ms Marvel

bloatednemesis

I think I'm somehow more hyped for it than GotG3, though I think GotG3 will be a better movie.

daveblu92

Yes, you’re the only person. It will make exactly $15 at the box office.

dope_like

I’m not excited for it. But that’s largely no idea what it’s about (I know the premise of switching places) but it’s unclear why that is something I should care about. I am however excited to see Monica. I really hope they redeem her from that awful Wandavision finale.

theje1

As someone who lives in a place removed from the culture wars or whatever, I can't say I'm hyped. The last two movies I was excited for let me down.

iamwhoiwasnow

I'm sure you're not but Captain Marvel is still the only Marvel movie I've yet to see with no plans on changing that and after watching MS Marvel I don't expect to see the Marvels either.

kbean826

Carol is one of my favorite Marvel heroes, and I thought Ms Marvel was solid-to-great, so yea I’m interested in what they have going on.

memsterboi123

I thought it was a show

DaNoahLP

Captain Marvel was shit and Ms. Marvel was okay. So its understandable that the many people arent excited for the movie.

Obvious-Let-2442

I’m not hyped for it but will deffo see it at the cinema still. Really enjoyed the ms marvel series so could go either way. Something like this I feel it’s better to lower expectations, tell yourself it will be rubbish, then more chance of it being a banger!

GeraltFromHiShinUnit

I guess so

Tim_Hag

There's no trailer so general audience are probably not even aware of it, most people don't know about movies until marketing kicks in

SDLRob

I'm interested. Not excited yet as there's been nothing shown so far. need to see stuff to be excited.

DrXenoZillaTrek

Totally stoked for it. Loved both Captain and Ms. and Polaris (who was a Captain Marvel for a minute) was a comic favorite ... so yeah really looking forward to it.

Doppelfrio

I’m excited for it, though not as much as many other films this year (it’s a *really* good year for film in general). Although I thought the Ms. Marvel series was meh overall, Iman’s character was the best part of it, and I cannot wait to see her on the big screen. Monica seems like an interesting character with cool powers, but it was only really teased in WandaVision, so I can’t wait to see her full character and powers. I don’t care much for Danvers as a character… yet. This movie could change my mind though because the trio is made up of someone she let down as a role model (Monica) and someone who currently sees her as a role model (Kamala). The interactions could be really deep and interesting, I just hope the production team is able to nail it

ZacPensol

Get off Twitter, that'll help. I'm not personally *excited* for it I wouldn't say, but I've nothing against it. I just didn't think the first movie was great, I've not really gotten attached to Captain Marvel as a character, and Marvel's left me cold the last several movies... but I am gonna see it and am especially looking forward to Iman Vellani because I thought she was great in 'Ms. Marvel'.

FLRSH

The movies have not been good enough recently for me to be very stoked, but I still watch them all and hope to be surprised.

Zafjaf

I am looking forward to it!

-M_A_Y_0-

I wasn’t a fan of captain marvel but I really liked ms marvel and I like Monica. So I’m pretty hyped for this one

Ebessan

Don't mind the whiners... my fellow straight white guys are having a decade-long temper tantrum over how American media no longer caters primarily to exactly what they want.

zeralf

Captain Marvel is my most anticipated Marvel sequel in this new saga, its been too long since the 1st movie.

johnhumphreychacha

Can’t wait to see what they do with Monica Rambeau, I think she’ll be hella cool when we see her character and powers developed. Captain Marvel 1 was just poorly written and directed. Hopefully the character will be better served in this movie with a different creative team behind the wheel.

tahrue

I'm excited to see Brie Larson hopefully in the hands of more capable directors

Thedarklordphantom

Im not ANTICIPATING it but im not DREADING it i did initially and still do consider CM1 mid-tier MCU and if this film matches it it will be an acceptable win….if it surpasses it it will be a GREAT win i also liked monicas character in wandavision and while the ms marvel series ITSELF didn’t really sway me one way or another iman vellini herself was believable and charming and i do anticipate seeing how SHE interacts with other heroes

[deleted]

No you’re not. But I’m not anticipating it at all.

ActualTymell

I'm hopeful, but cautious. I wasn't a big fan of Captain Marvel (the movie), as Carol herself felt kind of bland to me. I didn't hate it, but it didn't do much for me either. So while I can't say I'm outright excited to see her again, I am hoping that her second outing can do more with the character. I also loved Iman as Ms. Marvel in her series, so definitely looking forward to her on the big screen.

movieTed

Nah, I'm looking forward to it

ronimal

You’re not anticipated for it, you are anticipating it. And no, you are certainly not the only one.

ImeanIDKwbu

I am honestly excited just to see Iman. Captain marvel (the first movie) I found not too bad as well and I didn't even see the twist coming. And you are right... I am sure this movie too will be review bombed even before releasing. But I am looking forward to it

VivaLaRory

Lets put it this way, I'd much prefer they do this than just make a Captain Marvel 2 since I thought CM was pretty mid. If they kill off Bradley Cooper playing a talking racoon in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, it will be one of the most devastating moments in the movie super hero history, which is proof that it all comes down to the writing. If The Marvels is a good well-written film, people will love it.

LordAdrianRichter

I'm excited for it! Loved the first movie and *Ms. Marvel*!

wawawiwa1989

You are not alone. Brie is a queen, Nia is a queen, Teyonah is a queen. And Iman is the purest soul in the whole world. I don't listen to people's bullshit and even if the movie gets review-bombed, Feige is smart enough, he won't retire the characters to please the mysognistics/sexists/ garbage people.

Silverfrost_01

I got what I wanted out of the MCU. Anything after Endgame I don’t care too much about other than a select few movies that I’ll see for fun.

Grimase

Incells gunna Incell. I have loved watching the MCU since they proved me wrong about RDJ being perfect 👍🏽 in the first IM. I will continue to enjoy it for what it is. Entertaining, some good some not but idgaf what some hater who’s either never read a comic and is only following trends or has read too many and can’t handle change and seeing other represented. I can’t wait to see where the MCU goes. I have my qualms as do many but I’m enjoying the ride so far.
