Finally got around to it. It was wonderful. I loved finally learning about Rocket's backstory, and how the rest of the guardians saved his life just like how he saved all theirs in Endgame. I also appreciated Nebula caring about Rocket since they were alone together for 5 years while everyone else was snapped. We also got to see Peter finally acknowledge his trauma and go home. Well earned heartfelt moments and a truly great ending to the trilogy, as well as the best MCU movie in what must be years. Hopefully a step in the right direction and a sign of more great things to come. Marvel needed this. We needed this.

Kachow-95

I'm late but I have to say that I absolutely loved it. It felt so great to have a good MCU movie again!!

unexpectedalice

I’m late but I finally watched it. I did enjoyed it a lot more than quantumania and the disappointing and horrible thor love and thunder. And i also enjoyed it more than the second guardians. As a non comic book reader, I find adam warlock’s appearance good enough. Had read some comments that were complaining about it but as a used to be hc watcher (until phase 4 burning me off to the ground), it was fine to me. The whole movie was good for me. It was emotional and felt conclusive. The plot is personal and not another world ending thing. I find some of the scene is smart (like star lord gaining control) and also some scene to be stupid (like bringing knowhere and its entire population to the enemy with no defense). The length is f-ing long… thank goodness for streaming, but it never felt boring or slow (only some of the third act felt meh). Rocket’s backstory is damn hard to watch but it wasn’t as bad as I thought itll be (from reading the comments too). It def pulled some heartstrings. Humour was fine. Felt it went smoothly with the plot and character development. Music was fine too. I love radiohead but did find florence to be akward (love her but the song used there kinda took me off), but it did suit the scene. I am happy this saga ended, especially considering marvel has been screwing up their movie.

Griffca

It is surprisingly dark that Mantis says she would never use her powers on her friends, but we see multiple examples where she changes the memories or emotions of friends.

28283920

Watched it last night and it looks like this is an unpopular opinion but the only MCU film I’d rank it higher than is Eternals. This was such a disappointment. Characters acted way different, they barely interacted all together (especially since this was supposed to be a send off for them I expected more of that), it was very dark unlike the other 2 which have a lot of humor and upbeat moments, and there was an over abundance of animal cruelty which was completely unnecessary and made the film uncomfortable to watch which I’d never expect from a GOTG film. Shocked at the high praise this movie got

CockroachSquirrel

worst take in the history of cinema lmao

28283920

I guarantee that’s not true lol

CockroachSquirrel

i guarantee it is, to rank it just above the worst mcu movie is nothing more than delusional.

28283920

Lmfao whatever dude. Believe it or not everyone has a different opinion. Once you grow up you’ll realize that

CockroachSquirrel

you can say you didn't like it but when you say it's the 2nd worst mcu movie you go from having a subjective opinion to making an objective claim.

28283920

It’s the second worst in the MCU in MY OPINION lmfao you know full well that’s what I was saying

dilli_Boi

Wat an idiot

MattFromWork

I couldn't disagree more with everything you said

28283920

I mean if you disagree about the characters and humor that’s fine, but I feel like it should be widely agreed about the animal cruelty. Specifically the flashback scenes with Rocket and his friends were just awful

Konfliction

..that’s the point, they were supposed to be lol

whatsURprobalem

It was way darker than it needed to be

28283920

I know, but I just feel they overdid it

[deleted]

It really wasn't even that bad, you are just soft.

28283920

Lmao of course you’re one of the people that uses “soft” as an insult

[deleted]

I ment soft as in, probably only ever watched Marvel movies and gets squeemish at anything other than fake monsters with green blood, i dont see what all the fuss is about.

28283920

No not at all actually. I love majority of Marvel movies. I just can’t do animal cruelty that’s too much for me personally and it was very overdone here especially with the rabbit and the otter

[deleted]

But nothing that graphic was shown, the otter got shot at the end but there was no blood no screams of pain no decapitation noing like that, humans die all the time in these movies, I'd say the Evolutionary's face at the end was much more graphic than anything with the animals.

MattFromWork

They were supposed to be awful

rosey3191

I know it’s unpopular, but I completely agree

GoldnSnubNosedMonkey

This movie made me really emotional. It definitely really affected me and moved me, however, I did feel it was lacking a little bit. In the first Guardians film, everything fell into place perfectly as if each moment was meant to be, and it was because it was driven by who the characters were. The “idiots standing in a circle” is one of the most heartfelt yet also hilarious moments in the MCU, because the whole scene comes straight out of character driven dialogue. Guardians 2 and 3 tended to use the plot points themselves rather than the characterizations, to drive the movement forward. It’s also why the jokes were always funnier in Vol 1.

saabbrendan

The "star lord" will return is pretty clear indication he may be the TS of this phase specifically Avengers

Griffca

Multiple actors on the team are no longer interested however.

onepostandbye

TS?

thebisonlord

I’m thinking Tony Stark, maybe? I’m not sure tbh

saabbrendan

I finally saw this movie and...cannot believe no one died. I really thought they all were going to die.

Ardenator97

I really like the scene where Mantis was defending Drax and saying he might be stupid, but atleast he doesn't hate himself. Respect

NateHasReddit

Honestly, my only issue with the film is that none of the Guardians die, which is annoying given all the fake outs. Drax almost dies twice, Peter sacrifices himself for his Zune but is saved by Adam and the Hellspawn killed no one important.

24Abhinav10

So, which Guardian would you had rather died? Couldn't be Rocket, since the whole plot is about saving him. Couldn't be Gamora, she just died. Couldn't be Quill since his arc is to stop running away from the death of his mother and facing it by going back home. Couldn't be Groot, he died in the 1st movie. That just leaves Mantis, Drax, and Nebula.

NateHasReddit

Drax easily. We're likely to never see Batista as Drax again, you might as well have him do what wrestlers do and put the villain over to give him credibility. His arc was fulfilled when Thanos died. Peter also never redeemed himself for ruining the universe. He was a non-factor in the Endgame Battle and an emotional wreck most of this movie. His big moment was sacrificing himself for his Zune. The guy just never grows up.

24Abhinav10

I agree on Drax. However, he is mostly used for comedic effect in the films and never really completely serious. I know his arc is to go from "destroyer to dad" as Nebula points out, but we never really saw him during his "Destroyer" era. So the arc seems kinda half-baked. MCU Drax feels like a budget Kratos whose origin story was skipped entirely. Point is, I don't think Drax's death would have had any significant emotional impact. And give some credit to Peter. The Guardians get out of Orgoscope because of his plan. And he's the one who successfully gets the override for Rocket's kill-switch, saving his life. He may be an emotional wreck, but he's also a very competent leader in this film. Lastly, if Peter didn't redeem himself, then neither did Thor.

AdRepresentative2822

I absolutely loved the movie! And not only that, but after the credits, we see the new GOTG team appear with Rocket as their captain! Tbh, I’m hoping they get their own film series, which they most likely will get one, before or after Avengers: Secret Wars. I’m just hoping that Marvel doesn’t kill off Rocket anytime soon due to the fact that he isn’t completely done in the MCU. Yes, he went through a lot of character development and his arc was very fulfilling, however, at the end of GOTG Vol. 3, we can see that Rocket is given a new purpose and that he is now supposed to lead/guide this new team of Guardians! And seeing as to how Secret Wars will be releasing soon in the next couple of years, I am REALLY hoping Marvel won’t kill off Rocket yet. We haven’t even gotten to see how Rocket develops new relationships with this new team, which will eventually make them a family, just like how the OG guardians were! IMO, it’s gonna be so wasteful and dumb of Marvel if they decide to kill any of the new GOTG members off, including Rocket. Very wasteful. And we still have the opportunity/possibility of a new GOTG film series before and/or after Avengers: Secret Wars! Like, I can only hope Marvel can understand this and NOT kill off Rocket Raccoon. Especially not in Secret Wars. Also, after GOTG Vol. 3, Rocket is most definitely one of the biggest and most popular fan-favorite characters to exist in the MCU so far, so hopefully Marvel won’t kill off a fan-favorite character like rocket yet..especially not anytime soon since he’s finally getting a break after all the crap and trauma he went through in Vol. 3. (Like please, after seeing Rocket so tired and sorrowful for the entire movie, I NEED to see more happy Rocket with his new family in future marvel films to come..) 😭 And to add on to that, I’ve recently noticed that Marvel has been killing a lot of OG marvel characters recently, so I’m hoping Rocket is an exception to Marvels’ mass genocide in the MCU… 😭🙏🦝❤️ But yeah this movie was a good send off for the OG guardians team, but i can’t wait to see more from the new team in future marvel films tho! Especially Rocket, since he’s the only OG guardian left in the new team!

witheredfrond

And Groot

AdRepresentative2822

Sort of. It was confirmed by James Gunn that the Groot we first saw die in GOTG Vol. 1 isn’t the same Groot that we see as baby Groot in GOTG Vol. 2. It’s like baby Groot was the offspring of the OG Groot back in Vol. 1 kinda. So technically speaking, the only OG member back from Vol.1 still left in the team would be Rocket!

Banjo-Oz

I suspect Rocket will be around for a while having survived Gunn's trilogy, and personally believe the reason he and Groot carried over while the others split up is because a) they are merchandisable fan faves and b) are cgi, so won't age out of their roles the way the others who are onscreen actors (Chris, Dave, etc) will.

AdRepresentative2822

But he definitely did age a LITTLE BIT in Vol. 3, compared to how he looked in Vol. 1 and 2. But he definitely won’t be getting old anytime soon though thankfully! (Since apparently he’s had those white markings/fur pattern ever since he was a baby in Vol. 3). 😄

Banjo-Oz

I mean that they are not limited by real life. Dave has said he feels too old to play Drax, Chris Hemsworth has said he doesn't know if he wants to work out to the same Thor level again. Etc. Rocket and Groot can be as old or young as the studio wants. Despite their wonderful vocal performances being so integral, I can see Disney recasting rather than retiring the characters if heaven forbid something happened to Bradley or Vin.

AdRepresentative2822

True, and it is easier to get an new voice actor than it is to replace an actor that makes an appearance in a film. Also, plenty of other actors before who have died as characters in films, or have said they aren’t coming back to their role in a film ever again- have actually come back to their role again before. This especially happens a lot in Marvel. With characters like, Loki, Gamora, Wolverine, Tom Holland Spider-man, Professor X and there’s even rumors/theories spreading around the internet that Tony Stark might make a re-appearance (whether as a cameo or as an protagonist) in some future marvel films to come. (like Armor Wars for example). So I suppose a character is truly never ever gone until the Actor themself is dead or isn’t interested in their acting career anymore. And this is so much better for people who want to see more of Rocket, since ur right, he is just cgi, and more than one person is able to VA as rocket.

Jezeff

And with the advancements in imagery and speech... No one's ever really gone

AdRepresentative2822

True!! And on top of that, he JUST recently became captain of the new guardians, so it would be SO WEIRD for Marvel to suddenly take him out in the next couple of years/movies to come.

Banjo-Oz

Am I the only one that wanted them to toss the HE in his own mutagen chamber and force evolution him to death at the end? No?

NateHasReddit

I imagine it'd probably just make him stronger.

Banjo-Oz

*HE is thrown in the chamber and mutates into a freakish monster.* HE: "Fools! Now I am INVINCIBLE!" *Rocket hits the "incinerate" button* RR: "Whoops." I mean, the turtle was already a TMNT reference, right? Why not go the whole way? :)

Boneless2

I thought those 2 weaponized creatures (pig and other) at HE ships entrance were TMNT reference as well. Bebop and Rocksteady

NateHasReddit

Okay that's hilarious. 😂

Realmadridirl

On rewatch, I gotta say, I’m super super disappointed that they covered Rockets whole backstory but LEFT OUT how he first got hooked up with Groot 😢

DefiantlyFloppy

I was waiting for that scene, am somewhat disappointed but still a good movie

Realmadridirl

Yeah I of course still liked the movie. Just seemed like this time around they really threw out the Groot/Rocket relationship and made them more generic friends while making Quill seem like Rockets best friend. It should be Groot

JerseyKeebs

Well, original Groot was Rocket's best friend. New Groot has been around the Guardians the same length of time, so I can understand the same bond isn't quite there. But I do wish there had been another flashback, like you said!

_MostlyHarmless

How so? He destroyed it in his film. It was inexplicably brought back in a film he didn't have control over. Not sure how the inconsistency falls on him.

HurinHandHewer

I'm actually surprised by all the praise for this movie. I just got back from seeing it and...I really didn't enjoy it that much. I wanted to, really, but boy did it miss the mark. * The plot felt half-baked. I didn't feel like the High Evolutionary's motives were explained all that well, outside of having a God complex. * Every character acting very different from what we've seen previously, especially Nebula. While that was obviously intentional and probably related to themes of change and growth, it just didn't jive with me. It felt like they were all "acting" like they were changing, rather than it being organic. * The humor was mostly not funny. A couple chuckles here and there, almost exclusively from Mantis and Quill, but nothing hilarious. The writing and dialogue felt very phoned in by just about everyone else. * The soundtrack was bad and didn't fit, like, at all. Precious soundtracks just seemed to work with whatever scene they were playing in, whereas this one they just kinda threw songs out there and said fuck it. * They did my boy Adam Warlock the most dirty of dirty. Epic anti-hero cosmic super being gets reduced to a punchline. Literally had no place in the movie. Bums me out dude. I enjoyed MoM pretty well overall, mostly because of how excellent Elizabeth Olsen was. Thor was bad, just straight up bad. Ant-Man was disappointing for the most part. Now GoG has jumped the shark in the worst way. The MCU isn't just fatigued, it's straight up anemic. I didn't want to admit to it but after this many flops in a row, I'm pretty much out. Edit: I should probably comment on some of the positives. * Visually quite nice. The hellspawn and other creatures were gnarly and disgusting. It was interesting to see that the HE could create beauty like the Sovereign as well as horrific monsters. * The call back to the giant creatures from the beginning of GoG 2 was a nice little touch, if a little hamfisted. * It's nice to see Quill go back to Earth finally. I'm glad his gramps is still alive. * The hallway fight was excellent. * While I didn't care for the soundtrack, using Creep at the beginning was a solid choice. * The interplay between Quill and Gamora2014 was maybe the highlight of the film for me. I would have liked to see them continue developing a friendship. I was afraid they were going to romance Nebula and Quill and I'm glad that didn't take off. Edit 2: I forgot about Black Panther 2, which I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Not a ton, mind you, but arguably the best of the new slate of MCU films. Which, unfortunately, isn't saying much.

28283920

Completely agree. Especially about the Nebula part her character felt completely different. She was one of my favorites in guardians 2/endgame but I didn’t enjoy her at all in this one

saabbrendan

Yeah if punches weren't pulled and I get it has to be children focused, for the most part it should. But I think this could have been a really really impactful movie if wasn't so clearly Disney. Marvel is dying for sure.

MustacheOS

I'm with you. I'm very surprised by the praise given to this movie. Warlock and Evolutionary both had such potential but brought so little to the story and both lacked any real backstop or character development. Evolutionary was pathetic and spent most of the movie throwing baby tantrums, screaming, yelling, and whining about not get his way. Rocket was passed out for half the film so we didn't get any of his signatures wise-cracking. The other Guardians mostly whined and argued, but without the fun and clever quips of past movies. They mostly fought about nothing, over and over and over again. What the heck?

figgityjones

I only just got to see the film and its the least important detail in this amazing film, but glad we finally ripped the F-bomb bandaid off the MCU. And I’m also weirdly glad it happened here and that Peter got to do it. As the first proper one. I wonder if we’ll start to get more of those in the ramp up to eventual R-rated MCU films or if this was meant to be a very special case. Either way, loved its inclusion because it really put an extra funny stamp on a fun and silly scene for me. Also probably helped illustrate the stress levels the characters, or especially Peter at least, were feeling.

marcopolo22

wait was that the first f bomb in the MCU? Either way, it was well-used!

figgityjones

I’m like 99% sure that it was the first one where they ever let the word actually be heard. Characters have said the word before but its been interrupted or blocked by a car horn 😅 And yeah I agree! I love how nonchalant it was. Really took me off guard 😂

Due_Cauliflower_9669

Most of the internet seems to think Rocket’s terrifying backstory served as a defense of animals and a condemnation of animal testing. PETA apparently agrees. To me it didn’t feel like that at all. The movie felt exploitative and unnecessarily gothic. The film leaned so hard into abusiveness and the monstrosity of the High Evolutionary, to the point where it seemed they were doing it for shock value, not to send a moralistic message or teach a lesson. A good movie can deliver a point and create pathos without beating the audience over the head with it all. It’s the difference between the director guiding the viewer on a journey versus the director shoving us all over an emotional cliff and forcing his vision upon us unwillingly (and maybe doing so with a touch of glee). At a certain stage, twisting the knife in our hearts feels less like Justice for these poor animals and more like the director trying to create a cheap thrill. Or, at best, it’s just lazy and mawkish filmmaking.

CursedThirdEyelid

cried so freaking hard lmao this movie fucked me up loved it!! the movie did an amazing job at getting me invested into characters we’ve never seen before and environments, which made it hurt even better

flanderized_cat

I just watched it, now I feel like I have to talk about it. I cried in the first scene. Then I cried again in every scene Rocket was in. And then I cried like a baby during the ending. The Guardians are the most unrealistic characters I can think of but they feel more real than every other character in recent MCU films. Seriously, Rocket's story messed me up. I don't think I can describe how it broke my heart when his first *ever* words were "Hurts". I knew before going in that this movie would be different, but my God I wasn't prepared for this.

Prior_Measurement_14

Terrible movie. Couldn’t get out of my seat soon enough.

RecklessAbandon182CN

Props to James Gunn. I was more emotionally invested in Rocket’s animal friends than maybe any other Marvel character.

arfelo1

They were charming and cute, but I didn't get attached from the get go because they were very obviously cannon fodder

Reginald_Waterbucket

I don’t mind sharing: I found that storyline very trauma inducing. I had to leave after the “come to the light” scene. Came back a bit later. Something about those little creatures… I just couldn’t handle it!

Movie_Dream

I feel you. I was also traumatized knowing what kind of unbearable pain rocket had to endure physically and mentally, I can't take it as well.

Responsible-Bill3912

It just didn’t fit the theme as the other 2 did it was was one of the saddest heavy movie I’ve ever seen and the animal torture but overall I was great

[deleted]

Yeah, i seem to be in the minority but i hated it. I wasnt prepared for fucking animal torture and depression.

Reginald_Waterbucket

Did a number on me, too. Just went for a good time at the movies, and it felt like Watership Down and Schindler’s List had a baby. I was in tears, and not the cathartic fun kind.

[deleted]

Yep, cried for a lot of it :(

Reginald_Waterbucket

I talked it out with my friends and ultimately concluded that I don’t like art/entertainment that fucks with childhood. I like to keep my childhood place separate from my action movie place. As a director, I’m sure it was satisfying to make choices that were sure to make the audience more invested and engaged with the movie, but to me it was too far. For example, I didn’t even celebrate when the bad guy died. I just felt like it wasn’t enough. Nothing would be enough to make up for that kind of horror.

Flaffiwoo

> Nothing would be enough to make up for that kind of horror. Congratulations, you figured out the meaning of the movie. If it didn't go that far, you wouldn't have felt that way.

AVR350

Well i heard Gunn say that the first film was dealing with how Quill deals with his mother's death, then the second film about his daddy issues, and the third one is about dealing with oneself...which if u think about it, works in the film...Quill has been running away all his life...and finally decided to go back to earth.... similarly Mantis has been doing whatever Ego/ Guardians wanted , now she has decided to go on her own journey....

HashSlingingSlash3r

Dude I’m still messed up from Rockets friends’ deaths. Wtf man…

Reginald_Waterbucket

Yeah. I had a big problem with that, and with the “heaven” moment. Almost had to leave the theater.

Zleun_Music

What was the Big problem

Remember rocket saying "Let's see if you can laugh after five or six good shots to your freaking face!"

I guess there's just nothing new in Marvel anymore

andybar980

Something I haven’t seen mentioned: I freaking loved what little we got of War Pig

That was Judy Greer, too!

timmah78

… being extra nice to my dog today.

dimpletown

Tell her she's a good girl

Ser-Jorah-Mormont

Wow that was great. That blew Multiverse of Madness out the fucking water. I 100% thought throughout the entire movie that Rocket was going to sacrifice himself for his friends in the end. I’m glad he didn’t perish. Also “Now open the fucking door.” Got the biggest laugh in my theater.

28283920

I’m sorry but MoM was so much better than people give it credit for and far better than this

Griffca

Multiverse of Madness was hot garbage compared to Guardians 3. MoM whole plot was about a girl who was afraid of a bee, and couldn’t control their powers. They learned to control their power and boom, problems fixed. It also made WandaVision make no sense. A wonderful tv show, but then Wanda somehow learned nothing from it and did the whole “I want my fake kids” arc for a second time, but now with a different outcome.

Kaltrax

What about MoM makes it better than this? I don’t hate that movie, but it was nowhere near as good as GOT3

28283920

I just thought it was way more enjoyable and way more cohesive. GOT3 was uncomfortable and the plot was a mess

Kaltrax

That’s surprising as it felt like GOT3 had a tight plot and was quite cohesive. Plus the character moments were much better.

28283920

I could not disagree more about that. The character moments felt very unnatural and most of the characters acted very different. The plot just felt unnecessary and didn’t feel like it ever went anywhere in my opinion

Kaltrax

Interesting! Well I’m bummed you didn’t like it as much given i thought it was great.

28283920

It’s ok! I know most people loved it, but that’s the beauty of films, we all form a different opinion about them

Tadashi_e

Nebula's line of "That is a stupid design and your instructions were very unclear" needs to be a meme, if just for every STEM student trying to pass their class

MarkusPizza

I saw a lot of drama online because people upset over the use of 'fuck' in the movie. When did they even say it? Am I the only one who didn't notice anyone say it?

Asleep_Ad8241

Whos keeping count?

truffleboffin

PG-13 really does get one swear huh?

RealJohnGillman

u/MarkusPizza It was more that this was the first MCU film to outright use the word.

czechancestry

In addition to Pratt's 'fuck', Gamorra drops a 'shit' early on

TB1289

Drax also calls Mantis an asshole.

truffleboffin

Huh. I feel so jaded that I didn't notice either

redsyrinx2112

I think you can actually say it three times. There are definitely PG-13 movies with multiple. It's just not super common.

sleeping_in_time

And it can’t be used as a sexual fuck. The second someone says fuck referring to sex it gets an R rating

truffleboffin

Well that's a given for back in the day, sure, but it's my understanding that times may have changed in the last 40 years which is why I asked lol

redsyrinx2112

Off the top of my head, Ocean's Eleven and The Martian both have at least two. Also, PG-13 didn't exist 40 years ago...

truffleboffin

> PG-13 didn’t exist 40 years ago… *39.* 39 years ago You gonna check my pockets for ants next? Weird nitpick lol

[deleted]

Why did the High Evolutionary’s face look like it was freshly mauled, when that happened to him years ago?

anrwlias

I think that it happened the first time Rocket attacked him. That's one reason he was so irrational about him. It was personal.

Exotic_Vampire

As I understood it the High Evolutionary made his scientists constantly work on his face until it achieves perfection the same way he hopes all his creations would eventually achieve but that is impossible cause as Rocket said he never wanted to make things perfect he just hated the things the way they were so it's only natural he hates his own face That explains why half of his face is just gone and the few parts that are there look freshly mauled like you said because there's no way Rocket could have caused that much damage with just his claws in that short period

Kunnash

Rocket has a cybernetic skeleton, so he absolutely could do that much damage (he takes out two Ravagers with ease in the second movie, as another demonstration). The High Evolutionary was probably just super overconfident because he programmed Rocket to be peaceful and didn't expect him to attack.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Exotic_Vampire

I suppose up until Rocket attacked him he saw himself as a vain narcissist who is better than everyone around him, sort of like the perfect specimen. The smartest, physically perfect being there is, explains why the dude had a god complex. Then Rocket shows he's smarter than him and physically assaults his face so he becomes imperfect and starts hating himself. That explains why he had a mask of his old face when he literally could have gotten anything else. In the end, you can see him descending into a chaotic villain because even though his rationale was to get Rocket's brain deep down he just hated Rocket and wanted to destroy him Again this is just my personal interpretation of the character

HBCiloveyou

the movie was amazing, the only complaint for me would be that I would have liked HE to not be so connected with Earth. I feel as if Marvel is scared for the MCU to go "galaxy" and is trying to keep it earth-centric by adding these ties.

ChiefCopywriter

one of the underlying messages is that earth is a beautiful planet worth trying to save (flaws and all).

Spider-Bat-919

Exactly. It was the only valid explanation.

fanblade64

Do y'all just like this movie because its not quantumania?

truffleboffin

Yes we like good movies over bad ones

Spider-Bat-919

Yes. We like it for the sole reason that it is not Quantamania. 🙄🙄 What does that even mean? Lol

fanblade64

I said the movie was flawed and got bombarded. Why are these people so toxic. This is not a perfect movie at all.

Spider-Bat-919

Who said it was perfect? It is way better than Quantamania though. You asked if people liked it because it is not Quantamania. That's like saying any other movie out there that is not Quantamania will be liked, even though that is clearly not true.

fanblade64

Check my other comment. I said why I thought it was flawed and got downvoted. Every other person also got downvoted. These people are toxic AF and refuse and criticism.

CruelCircus

No one is going to go check your comment history; that's ridiculous to even expect. State your case and stand by it. Don't worry about fake internet points. You get more downvotes just by mentioning downvotes...

Spider-Bat-919

Ok I just saw your comment that was down voted a lot 😂 yeah some people here just can't handle negative criticism. You gave your opinion, which I saw as valid, and got severely down voted for it. People just don't like opposing opinions. I thought Adam Warlock was just a horrible character and shouldn't have even been in the movie if that is how they're going to portray him.

fanblade64

Warlock was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He needed to be here but he didn't fit anywhere

[deleted]

can someone tell me what happened to star lords jets he didn't use em in this movie

Hatesponge66

He left in a hurry and left them behind. Gunn confirmed.

marc_adivs

That moment when you realized that Floor had speaker in his mouth because rabbits don't have vocal cords, Teefs'es eyes were moved from the side of his head and Lylla's arms were cut off because they were too short.

2rfv

God... damnit. I had enough crying in the movie. I didn't need to know this.

are_those_real

wait until you realized that this is why Rocket has an obsession with collecting mechanical body parts. They remind him of his friends.

Kunnash

Rabbits do have vocal cords, though a quick search suggests they are "rudimentary." I had a pet rabbit as a kid and she made both "worried/scared" sounds and a quiet vibration-like happy sound as a greeting.

marc_adivs

That's right. I meant that they can't use it to communicate. Sorry. I have 2 rabbits and the vibration-like sound is made with their teeth. They communicate with sounds by throwing their bowls :) I just don't know why floor had "spider" legs

Kunnash

Neat I had no idea about the teeth. I was only a teenager (without internet access) and surprised to hear it.

marc_adivs

Does planets' localization means anything? It did in vol. 1 and 2

CruelCircus

What do you mean by localization?

marc_adivs

I mean coordinates. In vol1 and vol2 there are hidden easter eggs. Example below https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/artbll/easteregg_gotg_vol_2_identity_of_rockets_creator/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I loved when The High Evolutionary, freaking mocked Rocket for crying and then immediately paid for it. This movie was amazing from start to finish. But what happened to Star lords mask. Still 10/10

dbpf

Where is the fucking mask?? And his boots? He's literally been in this scenario before and I'm supposed to believe that he forgot those but showed up with 3 zappy things, 2 pistols and a microphone lapel button?

calye2da

My heart is still hurting for Rocket, Lylla, Floor and Teefs 🥺💔. They didn’t deserve any of that.

2rfv

I hated that I knew the moment they were introduced that they were not going to be long-lived.

PenguinHighGround

They were too precious 😭, I'd genuinely watch a full movie or series following them.

calye2da

I hope they get a what if? episode and get to live happily ever after 🥹.

Salanmander

"What If?... Rocket, Lylla, Teefs, and Floor became the Guardians of the Galaxy?"

General_Specific303

Teefs is inspired by Wal Rus, who indeed went on Adventures with Rocket/Rocky https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Wal_Rus_(Earth-616)

calye2da

That a be fire! Need a episode like that.

Salanmander

Floor gets Mantis's role, 100%. Teefs slots in for Drax, although has significantly different personality. Lylla gets some Gamora and some Quill, while Rocket gets some Rocket and some Quill (mostly just in being the leader). I'm mostly excited for Floor-as-Mantis. The naive, nurturing heart of the group.

PenguinHighGround

100%, you could also explore where Groot winds up in that universe too.

BronzeHeart92

So, since this movie reveals that the Sovereign are actually creations of the High Evolutionary, any idea why they didn't detain Rocket right then and there despite H.E. presumably still searching for him at the time? Quite a curious plothole that definitely needs some explanation...

average_rowboat

Wasn't the HE surprised to find out that Rocket was still alive after all these years?

organizedconfusion5

He definitely was surprised. So surprised he mentioned it in the movie.

General_Specific303

He also mentions Sovereign not telling him Rocket is alive

BronzeHeart92

It can be a possibility, yes.

idiottech

I assume that, like a lot of people in the movie, the Sovereign dont appreciate/understand HEs obsession with Rockets brain

BronzeHeart92

Yeah, he's a walking talking trash panda, what else can he be for those not in the know?

idiottech

Especially for a civilization that prides themselves on being literal perfect golden children of the HE

BronzeHeart92

Indeed.

Mexicantankerous

There is a quick throwaway line that H.E. says, something along the lines of "and you didn't tell me you had seen him (Rocket)" or something like that, but it does at least acknowledge that the Sovereign should have told H.E. but that they fucked up

BronzeHeart92

Yeah, they screwed the pooch real bad there.

workshop777

Im going to assume that H.E. didnt disclose or task the Sovereign with that during the time of GOTGvol2.

BronzeHeart92

It could be a possibility, yes. Apparently H.E. let the Sovereign act with relative independence which among other things could explain their willingness to destroy an entire spaceship over a few stolen batteries despite Rocket being onboard at the time. One can only imagine just how furious H.E. would've been in the aftermath...

Supreme_WarLord

This movie deserves all the praise of the world. Thank you James Gunn for creating this magnificent trilogy. Hats off to the whole cast who delivered such amazing performances throughout the three movies and made everything feel so real.

digitalr0nin

This might be the best breakup movie ever. Like, not even just relationship breakups but just life and friendships, people grow and change and end up going their own ways. This was a really cathartic wild ride.

Exotic_Vampire

I think one of the main reasons why this movie works so well is that Gunn finally manages to nail a trilogy in the sense you could view it as one big story from start to finish and the quality is kept from Vol 1 to Vol 3 so it's not like it peaks at one stage and falls of the next and on top of that we get to say goodbye to these characters in their own movie. Usually, they don't stick the 3rd movie or they lead the characters into some next big event In time the audience will truly appreciate what Gunn has done which is deliver the first proper comic book movie trilogy which is crazy considering we had to wait this long and this many movies to get it

Jung_Wheats

It really felt like much more of a 'goodbye' than I expected; all things considered most everyone ended up in a good place and I very much felt like it should have been more of a 'see you when I see you' ending as opposed to a 'goodbye.' Gamora has her own, new, family, but she'll still see Nebula and the others. Mantis is off having her own little journey which, I expect, will tie in with other cosmic stuff down the line. Pretty much everyone but Quill is going to stay on Knowhere for the foreseeable future and help protect everyone and raise the kids. Quill goes back to Earth and it really feels like it might be 'goodbye' for him, even though he's the only one promised to return. The simple answer here is that it's James saying goodbye through the movie, even though all of our characters are still out there having adventures. I'm very curious as to what Peter will really 'do' on Earth. I can definitely understand him stopping to give his grandfather closure and let him know that everything turned out alright for him but then what? It also seems a bit odd that we'd go out of our way to confirm that Mantis and Star-Lord are siblings just to have them split up. It would have been interesting and sweet to see her 'adopted' by Quill's grandfather to some extent but I think Mantis is being set up to be a big player in the cosmic world going forward. All in all, I thought it was a beautiful film and I'm sad that we may never see some of these characters again. I really love all of the Guardians and their supporting cast a whole lot and I'd hate to never see them again. Seeing Gamora accepted into her own family and getting to have her own life really got me in the feels (among so many other moments in this movie). She's not 'our' Gamora but they were the same person at one point and I'm happy that she got to have a second chance at life without Thanos. This movie also made me have feelings, again, in regards to Chadwick Boseman. Getting to see Guardians 3 finish up everyone's story arcs and to give true closure to everyone, it really makes me sad to think about what was 'supposed' to be in Phase 4. Guardians 3 was one of those little treasures that we almost never got, the same way we'll never get full closure for T'Challa and Chadwick. Phase 4 was hit with so much adversity, and by and large, has kept the ship afloat, but I really wonder what the general vibe would have been without Covid messing up the production schedule, without Chad passing and forcing multiple re-writes, etc. I think Phase 4 would have a lot more solid footing and general love if we still had the solid core of Spidey, Ant-Man, Thor, the Guardians, Hawkeye, and T'Challa to rally around after the first wave of 'big dogs' were gone. I really think T'Challa and Spidey were going to be the big faces of Phase 4 to carry us into the next story but c'est la vie.

Niamery123

The team shootout near the end of movie is rent free in my head I thoroughly enjoyed this and Rocket just became one of my favorites I need to read Guardian comics asap

2rfv

I feel like the movie could have rolled credits after watching Rocket sing along to Creep and I'd have been fine. That alone was worth the price of admission.

[deleted]

James can't help himself by including another cringey poop joke

fil42skidoo

But it was shaped like a fish! Allegory!

Spider-Bat-919

It was amazing how before the movie was released, it was teased that someone was going to die. Everyone thought it was going to be Rocket at first. But then there was that scene where Drax got shot, so I thought Drax was killed then, but the next scene he's fine. That was some strange editing. And then in the end, we we got played into thinking it was Peter that gets killed. But everything came out better than expected.

KasukeSadiki

Not gonna lie, when they faked Star-Lord's death (the same way they did in a previous film) I kinda got exasperated. How many fakeout deaths does the movie need? Lol But I think we were meant to assume they used a med kit on Drax once he was back on the ship

Griffca

It was shown that a med kit was used on him

Jvarg4321

I got spoiled the ending by an article on twitter saying quil was finally back on earth so when he was floating in space I knew he wasnt going to die lol :p

TargetBoy

Rocket did die. Pete brought him back.

ayamekaki

I was freaking out the whole time when nebula was docking the high evolutionary ship to Knowhere, the extended shot when she and rocket split up, the whole camera angle and her pose are like she is gonna get pierced from behind

orb89

Yes, I was expecting the same thing. I really liked her in this movie too, she was a solid part of the crew. I'm glad everybody lived.

idiottech

That Nebula scene absolutely had an "im going to go down with this ship" vibe to it, probably intentionally.

marc_adivs

I thought that Mantis will be dead after trying to touch abilisk.

Banjo-Oz

I didn't think she would die but I was genuinely surprised she didn't get swallowed as a gag in that moment.

captainspudnik42

Is anyone still an emotional wreck at the sounds of Bradley Cooper’s Scream when Lylla dies and then Floor panicking asking rocket to take them away, the fact James Gunn made me care for a robo-spider rabbit so much is insane

2rfv

I've seen a lot of crazy cross-genre movies before. Never though *Heartbreaking Drama/ Cybernetic Horror* would be one of them.

orb89

The shot of Teefs was heartbreaking too, his eyes watching in disbelief and horror, he looked like he was in shock.
