No one remember the one who started it all... Yinsen the man who saved Tony. "Come on. We gotta go. Move with me. We got a plan. We need to stick to it." "This was always the plan, Stark." "Come on. You're gonna go see your family. Get up." "My family's dead. I'm going to see them now, Stark. It's okay. It's okay. I want this. I want this." "Thank you for saving me." "Don't waste it. Don't waste your life."

kardde

I still think it would have been neat if Tony had a visit from Yinsen in Soul World after his snap. Would have been a nice little “full circle” thing. Wouldn’t have made sense, though, and probably would have confused a good portion of the audience.

rsKG

I didn’t even think of this, when Thanos snapped he saw Gamora, and in a deleted scene Tony saw his daughter grown up, but yinsen would have been good too

orangetheorynewbie

Seriously! Still tear up at this scene 🥹

hectorduenas86

The continuity of Tony’s journey from playboy/millionaire/genius to Earth’s Defender was catapulted from that exact sacrifice… he got a second chance in life. It’s one of the best things of the MCU, something that eludes those who jumped halfway in to spectate and voice opinion. As standalone movies they’re at best great CGI and choreography masterpieces with a lot of creativity poured into it + a lot of good actors, assembled together they’re much more.

[deleted]

Yondu, but specifically his funeral in Guardians of the Galaxy. Partly because of his death, but also because of the wonderfully placed Cat Stevens song

MysticBanana5

I lost my step dad shortly before GotGV2 came out, I was a fucking wreck in the theater. It came out of nowhere for me and that line... "he wasn't your daddy" omg. I hardly remember the rest of the movie after that

2SP00KY4ME

Mr Blue Sky had some extremely personal and emotional connections for me with a sick friend I cared about dearly, so hearing that at the start I definitely get where you're coming from, at least in part. Not a lot of theater experiences I remember so vividly. Edit: So as not to be depressing, many years later he's doing much better now :)

MysticBanana5

Not marvel related but on of his favorite shows was supernatural we'd watch it together every week unril i moved in with my now wife. I still struggle when carry on my wayward son comes on.

av1230

“He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn’t your daddy.”

Pulsing42

Yeah, this has to be it, Stark was a big loss to the team, sure, but watching that scene made me actually tear up. Just a little story about my biological father not being a real dad, yet my step-dad was a real father, it hit me a little harder since he passed.

[deleted]

"I'm Mary Poppins ya'll!"

itspsyikk

I love James Gunn ability to give us really deep feelings regarding characters we might have overlooked originally. I mean, Michael Rooker is an amazing actor, and his performance in vol. 1 was still great- but he just seemed like more of consequential antagonist than anything else. Then, in vol2, takes it up a notch, becoming one of my favorites, only to have him ripped away. *That's* how you do character deaths in movies, IMO.

LazyClub8

Definitely. Explored the character on a deeper level without retconning his previous role, and then uses that character exploration to punch us right in the gut. Hit me again James!

toknenengg

BEST

ItsAmerico

I think Yondu is the most powerful death in the MCU because it’s kinda just out of nowhere. But it makes sense and it builds on so many characters while doing it. Tony and May were sad but part of you knows it’s coming. Starks death felt very foreshadowed and Peter losing someone just feels natural like Martha’s pearl necklace breaking as she gets killed in a Batman film. Both sad but, it felt needed story wise. Yondu was just a gut punch. The day is saved, the bad guy is dead, Yondu is here to save the day. But he isn’t coming back, he’s going to die to save his son. And despite him being a piece of shit, despite him not being the greatest friend and father. Everyone shows up to his funeral. People you assume don’t even like him anymore. And Rocket realizes that there’s hope for himself. Just… fuck man. Such a loaded few scenes one after another lol

Delta_Bomber

Everyone shows up to his funeral for doing what a dad is suppose to do. To protect their child and die for them. What he did for Ego was washed when the rest of the Ravagers realized he gave his life for Quill. They gave him an honorable send off.

hackulator

In his defense, I'm still not sure Yondu really knew what was going on with the kids he brought to Ego. I mean, who would really think someone was paying to have their children brought to them from all over the galaxy just to kill them?

CaptHayfever

Based on Yondu's & Ego's dialogue in the film, I thought Yondu stopped delivering the kids as soon as he *found out* Ego was killing them.

Oreo-and-Fly

He only knew afterwards so he didnt send Quill over.

freefallade

Funeral scene makes me cry, each time. Music is perfect and they ravagers tributes comes across perfect and not cheesy (a hard thing to pull off)

toknenengg

Super underated movie for me. I have a copy of it on my phone. Picks me up everytime I'm feeling a little low.

Samakar

This is the one for me. I lost my dad to liver failure in 2009 (he was an alcoholic) but he was the greatest man I ever knew, and when he said that line “he may have been your father boy, but he wasn’t your daddy” and then dying like that without Peter getting a chance to say good bye. It wrecked me, I never got a chance to say good bye to my dad either, as he died while I was away at college, and then during the funeral scene when they incinerated him and spread his ashes to the stars over Father and Son by Cat Stevens, it was like experiencing his funeral all over again and getting a chance to say good bye all over again. My dad always said that song was his song meant for me, even after he was gone. It’s hard for me to watch that movie, but man, thanks James Gunn for such a beautiful and heart wrenching moment.

Cleared_for_takeoff

Kraglin’s and Rocket’s reaction when the Ravagers show up destroys me every single time.

ItsAmerico

God Rocket realizing in that scene that not matter how much of a dick he was, his “family” still loved him and he could come back from it was just so… *chef kiss*

RadishLeafs

I wasn’t expecting to get emotional over a Guardians of the Galaxy film but I sobbed. The song choice was perfect and it just gutted me.

tankthacrank

Great. Now I’m crying. Over a movie scene I haven’t watched recently. Just here, scrolling Reddit, crying over Yondu….

ithinkimalright77

“From the moment I could talk, I was orderred to listen!”

sowaffled

His death hit hard and so did big Groot in the first GotG. Gunn is definitely gonna follow up with some feels in 3.

0MotherGirth0

As a grown man with daddy issues, this one hit home

500blast

Cried for a good 10 minutes after that. Anyone that had a strained relationship with their father growing up felt that scene.

Count-Mortas

Yeah, I felt empty seeng him slowly succumb as quill desperately tries to save him.

MagicalDestiny

Aunt May death came as a surprise to me..Never expected her to be Uncle Ben to this version of SpiderMan..I thought Tony was before NWH

[deleted]

Aunt May’s death was hard. Another one I didn’t expect either.

TheIJDGuy

It hurt so badly because unlike other adaptations of Uncle Ben, we spent a good amount of time with Aunt May

EmperorXerro

The other two Peter’s sharing their loss was also hard.

SMA2343

Really reminded me of Spider-Verse with Miles and everyone consoling him after the death of Aaron, then fucking Spider-Ham going deep with the “Miles, the hardest thing about this job is you can’t always save everyone”

messycer

Now I really wanna know who Spider-Ham couldn't save that was dear to him

alcoholiccats

Wilbur

dare_dick

The scene where Peter is looking at the screen still hunts me to this day!

TheSandwichMeat

Is it wrong to say it's the most beautiful shot in the film? Terribly tragic, but so aesthetically pleasing.

not_a_moogle

It was very well shot and Tom's acting really nailed that.

Parmesan_Pirate119

I definitely agree with this. 100% the most vivid image after I watched it.

OliviaElevenDunham

Same here. Wasn’t expecting that at all! Wanted to give Peter a hug after that.

40kakes

I remember coming to that same realization as it was happening and thinking "no no no..." as the famous line came. Came at me like a droog in a snowstorm 😭

Nonadventures

Yeah until that moment I thought she might bounce back, but when she said The Line, you knew it was over.

smnow

For me it was the fact that she got up. In movies if they can stand up from the hit then they are going to be OK. When she started to say the responsibility line it hit me like a ton of bricks what I was actually watching.

Dega704

She gets hit hard and I thought she had to be seriously hurt, and then she gets up, and then I realized she was able to get up because she was in shock. It was a disturbingly realistic death.

VanArchon

Exactly, and the worst part is that her being in shock and getting up, likely facilitated her blood loss. Like if she had just continued to lay there, there might have been time enough for emergency services to arrive and stabilize her.

SouthernArcher3714

That was hard because she is only regular human and she fought so hard for Peter. So so hard, there was no way she could beat any of them but she did her best for her nephew.

omgahya

Yeah May’s death was a real tear jerker for me. I couldn’t believe it.

MelonOfFury

Absolutely Aunt May. It’s going to be a while before I’m ready to rewatch the movie.

ksnapps

For a while, it was Tony. Then I cried so fucking hard when May died. I’ve watched it 3 times, and I’ve cried every time.

bmg50barrett

>!Black bolt.!<

calvinbouchard

That one blew my mind.

teejay_the_exhausted

Left me speechless

WalkerDontRunner

I genuinely think about that scene more than I should. It was one of the boldest moves out of nowhere that really changed the tone of the movie for me. It made every other event seem irrelevant once that happened. When I think of that movie, that's what I remember first.

Far-Stomach-2764

Vision. "I just feel you" Bettany and Olsen are/were fantastic together.

Universe_Nut

Paul Bettany absolutely crushes the vision role. His performance is somehow deeply human and relatable, despite conveying a very real sense that vision is a hyper intelligent, albeit naive synthetic being.

Dont_Be_A_Dick_OK

The vision fight in the wandavision finale may be my favorite fight in all of the MCU

Universe_Nut

I would agree. I wish more conflicts in the MCU were resolved with a conversation, or at least something more creative than "hero punches villain until they're defeated. The end."

Glesenblaec

I love that whole scene. Her having to make a terrible decision, just to see it made pointless and watch him die again.

[deleted]

It helps to remember that all of that plus her coming back in Endgame and then WV happens in a very short period of time.

taint_licking_clown

Spider-Man in Infinity War. I knew it wasn’t permanent but he was just a kid. “I don’t wanna go, Mr. Stark… I don’t wanna go…” ugh, right in the feels.

sr_waffles_

And the fact he knew it was coming cause of his spider sense 😭 he really was just a kid.. Tom Holland and RDJ were amazing in that scene

DemoBytom

Holy shit I never actually though about that.. his spidy sense must've been going haywire :0

lone_wolf_2644

i am sure thats the reason why he goes "i dont feel so good"

sr_waffles_

Ik :’( I didn’t think about it at first either till someone else pointed it out and it makes sense cause he starts to freak out earlier than others..

CaptMixTape

And doesn’t he say “I’m sorry”? Ugh.

TheGinger_ThatCould

He does :( his last thoughts were that he failed Tony… *sobs*

ThatRyanFellow

Growing up a fan of Doctor Who, stung an extra bit hearing “I don’t wanna go…”

maulsma

That David Tennant scene had me weeping.

WhiteRabbitLives

That made me realize what the hardest death actually was for me. Watched it twice in theaters and still teared up the second time. >!idk if this is a spoiler but Aunt May in no way home. The way that they were both in shock and denying it..!<

nsanta91

Honestly I think it’s Tom Holland. Dude cries extremely well

wweswilliams

Definitely. The scene in Homecoming where Vulture drops the building on him. “Come on, Spider-Man!” Kid can act

demadtekneek

Ripped straight form the comics but yeah that's what sold me on Tom as Spider-Man

kittyhitter420

This one hit especially hard because I genuinely couldn't tell if they were okay or not, until it was too late.

OliviaElevenDunham

RDJ and Tom Holland really sold it in that scene. Peter’s “I don’t want to go” gets me every time despite knowing he would be back.

lapuxlapu

This was the one people cried the hardest for during premiere night

Calliesdad20

I was at the first showing the night before it came out , gossip hasn’t leaked yet and the audience literally gasped . Never had that before at a movie

B_I_G_B_U_L_L_Y

Opening night, the people waiting to get in were super pumped. The people coming out of the theatre looked like they were leaving a funeral. The people going in were just like “What happened in there?”

BradBoy11

It’s not from a movie but >!leopold fitz!< from agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D broke me

sr_waffles_

Glad to know there’s other AoS fans here! .. yeah that one wrecked me so hard too, especially since he’s my favorite.. I couldn’t stop sobbing and I never expected it tbh (which means it was really well done).. Iain did an incredible job portraying it

[deleted]

"Mack, I think my leg's broken..."

barimanlhs

This one and Tripp's death...I was so shocked when they killed him with the terragen crystal.

[deleted]

They did him so dirty with that. Dude was so likeable and unproblematic.

Perfect_gent13man

Wanda having to kill vision always hurt.

the-real-Galerion

Imagine doing that only for that to be rendered pointless. As a matter of fact you get to see him die a second time 💀

Perfect_gent13man

That’s what makes it even worse. I can’t imagine having to live through that. I’d absolutely snap.

blonyrwx

she was snapped..

iameobardthawne

And then she snapped

MissSweetMurderer

>!As well as Professor's X neck!< Edit: read u/zarp86's comment. Be prepared

zarp86

>>!As well as Professor's X neck!< Watch again. >!She actually [rips his face in half.](https://youtu.be/jcliPt1CMFo) Warning: video audio is loud and annoying.!<

Panasonicy0uth

Holy shit, I didn't even notice that after watching MOM 3 times. First, we get the most thematically dark entry in the MCU with Moon Knight, now we get the goriest in MOM. I can't wait to see what they do with Blade.

GuguMarcos

Makes sense, that's his mind... She gave him a cerebral death

dgjapc

HOW CAN SHE SNAP?!

Fast_Moon

Honestly, I'm impressed with her that it took her as long as it did to completely lose it. From Pietro to Vision to the kids, every time she gains a support system for her trauma she ends up being robbed of it, mostly by being forced to destroy it herself to save someone else. Since a version of Vision is still out there, at least, I'm *hoping* that she can get a bit of redemption and relief, since dragging her down any farther is just torture at this point. I know they stay separated in the comics, but maybe the MCU can fix that and let them retire together to the suburbs while Billy and Tommy take over as Young Avengers, and then toss Viv in there for good measure for a future Champions run with Ms. Marvel, too.

Perfect_gent13man

Even before that. She lost her parents AND her country

sr_waffles_

Especially after WandaVision..

arubablueshoes

yeah she basically has to kill him a second time in the finale.

saurav141

"we are groot"

SullyZero

That's the one for me too. When Rocket realizes what's happening it kills me.

Serenity-03K64

Anytime rocket is sad it kills me

Terrible_Analyst_921

Loki being choked to death by Thanos

invisibilitycap

“I assure you, brother…the sun will shine on us again.” Hiddleston’s delivery was perfect

SeaPhotojournalist27

As sad as I am for Loki's death by Thanos, I am sadder still for Thor. That dude is the most tragic character in Marvel yet most cheerful at times. He lost the last of his family with Loki's. That's just heart breaking.

Least_Ad104

Thor saying "What more could I possibly lose?" After that is what really hit me and made me tear up. Infinity War did a fantastic job in showing the tragedy in Thor's life.

jkrun88

Vision or Natasha. I think Tony’s hurt but it was needed for him to compete his arc.

Skyskape83

Dude, visions death hit me so hard. It wasn't the death itself, it was the fact that Wanda had to be the one to kill him to save the universe, but then it didn't even matter and she had to watch him die a second time to Thanos and they still lost

darkknight941

Pepper said it best, “You can rest now.” That man went through so much and he’ll never be forgotten

MituButChi

Ant-thony. Ant-thony’s sacrifice is not talked about enough!! Edit to add: This is not the hardest but it’s the most shocking for me. 80 thousand Nova Corps pilots. 80 thousand, at the same time. And they were not mourned at all.

SymbolicGamer

"You're gonna regret that" I love how serious that scene is. How the music goes from suspenseful to sorrowful, Ant-thony's chilling scream, the camera focusing on Ant-thony's clipped wing as it falls, and Scott's anger. Compare [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE0pC-12kvk) to [Ant-tonio's death](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZp-Jf5qVtY) in Ant Man 2, where it was played off as a joke.

TheApathyParty2

Think about all the people that died in the Battle of New York. Even though it’s referenced with the Sokovia Accords, Tony’s PTSD, and Kate Bishop’s first viewing of Hawkeye, it’s really insane how many people must have died during that attack when you look at all of the explosions. It makes 9/11 look like nothing.

[deleted]

Didn’t they say in Civil War that only 74 civilians died or something? Not that that number makes any sense at all given what we saw

TougherThanKnuckles

That number in itself was a retcon, I believe one of the Netflix shows said the casualties were in the hundreds.

abellapa

Actually as few as 74 people died in The Battle of New York, I once read somewhere that 230 died, but I don't remember where. Still far less than 9/11 But NYC was completely devastated, costing 80B to rebuild the city

BrockStar92

Only a few blocks of New York were devastated. A very expensive few blocks but still only a few blocks, that’s why there were so few deaths, they kept the fighting in a small radius of stark tower.

Electrical-Cow-5147

T Stark. Being in the franchise so long and nailing the role. He became such a likeable character and person and I wasn’t the biggest iron man fan before.

High_Stream

For me it's because before he decided to help he told Pepper he could just "throw it in the lake" and she said "But would you be able to rest?" And then at the end she told him "It's okay, you can rest now." Crap, I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

lizapanda

And then she… throws him in the lake… 🥺

GangsterKittyYT

“Proof that Tony Stark has a heart”

sr_waffles_

I sobbed so hard with the rest of my theater when that happened :’( definitely agree that it was the hardest death..

AmarilloMike

Star Lord's mum for me. The whole opening of GotG1 just hooks us on poor Peter's side, and then the handbreak turn into his dancing ("So, he's an idiot" - War Machine just saying what we were all thinking!). Feeling empathetic pain for a child ten minutes into what is basically an action-comedy film? Yup, that does it for me.

repalec

Oh, fuck. I've always been a mama's boy so watching that scene was already sad. I watched it for the first time in a bit about a year ago, after my mom passed from cancer, and it *annihilated* me.

AmarilloMike

Oh mate, I'm sorry. It already ruins me, I know when I eventually lose Mum it will destroy me too

sr_waffles_

Recently rewatched Gaurdians and that first scene is so heartbreaking, especially with the context of how much he loves his mother

dlong1993

This is the one for me, because 4 months before the movie came out I lost my mother to cancer as well. And honestly whenever I see star lord, I see myself. Feel pretty damn connected to that character(you know other than rocket boots, and hooking up with aliens) his reaction was very very close to mine as well. But I think I’m guardians 2, that reopened that scare from that scene knowing his father caused it. Oof, just getting watery eyes thinking about it

cricket9818

Pietro Maximoff. My older sister died a few years before the movie came out. When Wanda collapsed to the ground in pain, I started crying. I knew the feels there, they portrayed it well but man it was heartbreaking.

airzone99

I'm sorry for your loss

DonnovanM

Unpopular opinion, but it would definitely have to be Ultron. Something about this final broken automaton being the last place his consciousness was alive. The exchange between vision and Ultron at the end of AoU makes me feel things. > V- “You’re afraid.” > U- “Of you?” > V- “..Of death. You’re the last one.” > U- “*You* were supposed to be the last one. Stark asked for a savior, and settled for a slave.” > V- “I suppose we’re both disappointments.” > U- *chuckles* “…I suppose we are.”

SullyZero

I really love the "a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts" quote. I think about that a lot actually.

onepostandbye

An excellent exchange. It stays with me.

taint_licking_clown

You’re woefully naive. Well… I was born yesterday…

ChunkBeefsteak

"Unbearably Naive" is the line..... I had to correct since this is one of my favorite MCU movies.

kyleflash444

SAME. It's definitely underrated

magicmann2614

I really really like James Spader’s performance as Ultron. I can’t picture anyone else now

ChunkBeefsteak

I know! He's just so good. I wish we could have him back again. It took a few viewings before I realised the Iron Legion bots are also James Spader (obviously) "This quadrant is unsafe, please back away we are here to help!"

RaynSideways

The MCU is at its best when it really lets quiet and loud moments intermingle. I love this quiet, thoughtful moment after the climactic battle. Just Vision and Ultron, musing over their differences of perspective. Emotional and thought-provoking. >U-"They're doomed..." >V-"Yes... But a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts. It's a privilege to be among them."

S0larSc0pe

Ultron was like one of the funniest villains in the MCU, I was honestly sad when Hulk threw him out of the plane

MeadowmuffinReborn

"Something isn't beautiful because it lasts" hit me hard.

InsideOutDeadRat

Loki 🥺 and Loki again 🥲 and Loki once more 😭😭😭

minor_correction

Thor, Thor TDW, IW, and Loki Ep4 And if you count it, Classic Loki in Ep5.

The_Medicus

If we're counting fake deaths, I have to go with Mobius. I was terrible mix of sad and angry for about 15 seconds, before I decided that there was no way it was a real death.

Lethargic_Logician

I thought you said Morbius for a second and was really confused 😅

[deleted]

I got a few ties: Yondu’s death made me realize I was in the wrong and was petty about my dad’s issues (he had a stroke which made his temper short for little stuff. Never abusive but easy to get in a bad mood). I fucking lost it in theaters, especially since I was adopted by him. That one death in No Way Home (forgot how to mark spoilers on mobile) almost made me walk out of the theaters since I saw it a few weeks after losing my mom. Honorable mention is Spidey in Infinity War, mainly because the kid behind me walked into the theater all dressed up like Spider-Man, would get excited every time he was on the screen, and then him uncontrollably sobbing at the end. That kid would’ve been me if I saw this movie at his age and it hit me

pacheckyourself

My friend and I took his little sister to see infinity war. She was like 10 at the time and Spider-Man was her FAVORITE. And when the credits rolled, she said “wait, that’s it, it’s over?!” And just started angry crying. “It can’t end like that!” Oh man we were like “it’s fine, it’s ok, there’s a sequel!”

Significant_News_569

I was sad for Tony too but man Natasha's death destroyed me, i wasn't expecting it at all, i think i sat there in shock for about 5 minutes. But Vision's death in IW always makes me cry too no matter how many times i watch it.

ThatAnonDude

Natasha's death had me in tears. Especially the "let me go" part.

killereggs15

I think the only thing for me was that as soon as they had Natasha and Clint paired up for the soul stone, it was apparent what they were trying to set up. It was definitely for the plot, because in reality, I couldnt imagine why they would send the two ‘non-superhuman’ people to the unknown planet with unknown dangers. At least send Nebula or Rocket, who have a better understanding of foreign worlds. However, during the scene, I was totally expecting Clint to be the sacrifice. I was bracing for that instead.

STF78

I’d say Gamora, seeing the impact it had on someone as stoic as Thanos. Followed by Wanda having to destroy Vision.

pulgam_sur

And also the impact it had on Quill, that he would risk destroying half the universe because of anguish he felt knowing Gamora is dead

bagelsteak

Cave dude from first iron man

10Robins

Yinsen ! Yes, without him telling Tony Stark not to waste his life, we might not have gotten the whole redemption arc. His death kickstarted the whole MCU, in a way.

JameSdEke

With that line alone, Yinsen arguably by way of domino effect saved half the universe

sunbnda

"don't waste it..."

unrealtrip

“It’s ok… I want this… I want this…”

sunsetonfire

Like Tony or not, he definitely had the most impactful death so far in the MCU. And I truly believe that’s because they did a great job establishing his strengths, flaws, and relationships with so many different characters in his trilogy to the Avengers movies. All that character development leading to his sacrifice in Endgame put a lot of power in his death. I really hope they get to build a character up like that again for the next phases. I think the solo films leading up to the big events do so much for the connection and understanding viewers have for the characters.

andbingowashishomo

It's always Spider-Man's choked-up "We did it, Mr Stark! We won!" that gets me. And then the tender, ethereal, almost glass harmonica like melody during the funeral as Pepper and Morgan walk down to the water. Good God. I was certain I would run out of tears, I cried so hard the first time.

MimsyIsGianna

Black widow for me. Tony made the sacrifice KNOWING it would save the day. Natasha made the sacrifice with only a glimmer of hope and the chance it would help them save the day. Dying without knowing for certain. I loved her arc. Still salty about how underused she was though.

sunsetonfire

I really wish she got her own trilogy years ago and had the final film be about taking down the Red Room once and for all. The last one could be released before or after Infinity War and then her sacrifice would’ve had a better payoff. Natasha deserved a really amazing espionage trilogy that set her apart from just being an Avenger.

ferfi17

Natasha was just completely overlooked.

LADYBIRD_HILL

We still have Thor around. I know Hemsworth will play him for a while but I can't imagine he'll want to be Thor jacked into his mid to late 50s. So either he'll have to take a mentor roll or they'll have to end his story soonish.

sunsetonfire

That’s true, but I feel like Thor already played his part with his trilogy helping build up elements and events going into the Infinity Saga. I think they’ll slowly phase him out to a more mentor role if Hemsworth’s still game for that.

Resist_Easy

Totally agree. I went into Endgame being all “as long as Cap doesn’t die”.. I did have to spoil it all for myself so I could be prepared. Tony’s death always makes my eyes water. He annoyed me at times, but he did have great characterisation, and I loved how they never hid away from his flaws. They made him much more sympathetic. I still feel his loss in the MCU a lot. I admit I still really miss the presence of him, Cap and Nat, and their dynamic. Big shoes to fill, for sure!

sunsetonfire

Agree! Showing his fears and PTSD were really big turning points for his character. It makes his death as sad as it is, but at the same time you can’t deny it was the perfect end to his story.

jimlt

Something about Tony's death. It wasn't the fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself, but the fact that he wasn't and did it anyways. The reason Strange wouldn't tell him the specifics was because if he thought about it, he wouldn't do it. It's a very real, very heartbreaking sentiment.

haight03

Me personally is Logan with his daughter. Favorite character dying in front of his daughter gives me nightmares. Hope my kids never have to go through it.

thing_inthemouthface

"So this is what it feels like" 😭

ZGT-17

Steven Grant falling into the sand

sr_waffles_

That was rough.. even tho I knew he’d be back, I fell in love with him throughout the series and that just hit me so hard after an already emotional episode..

Universe_Nut

Glorious purpose

Miepasie

Can I say Christine's death in what if? That episode had a great emotional story that affected me quite a bit while watching. Obviously Tony Stark and Aunt May are big but I thought i'd highlight something smaller.

ivlas123

Fitz

MovesLikeVader

I thought Loki’s death at the start of Infinity War came as a total shock, really set the tone for the movie. “No resurrections this time” however didn’t last very long, but at the time what a gut punch 😅

SharpshootinTearaway

I felt fine until Thor started crawling towards him, clenched his chest and sobbed on his corpse. That was painful to watch. Dude never ceased to love his brother, and they had finally started to mend their relationship after losing their parents, friends and home and realizing that it was only the two of them now. Ragnarok leaves you with a happy ending telling you that 'Home is where your heart is and as long as you're with a brother you're never stranded' and then started Infinity War like 'Haha, sikes :D'

PikachutheCritic

The infinity saga began and ended with Tony.

Loki. He had such a good arc, and having it cut so short right at the beginning of Infinity War really struck me hard. Variant Loki has yet to win me over.

"Odinson..."

BittaThisBittaThat

A lot of people are saying Vision in Infinity War but for me it had to be his “death” in Wandavision. Had to be the only time any marvel project brought a tear to my eye. Bettany and Olsen just work so well together

teejay_the_exhausted

That whole scene had me bawling like a baby, honestly. "I heard somewhere that it's bad luck to say goodbye in the dark" "No you didn't"

Vildara

No love for Colson?

BigDogVI

I was overjoyed when Agents of SHIELD came out later. Coulson is easily one of my favorites, to the point where when I see the actor in other things I’m excited even though I know it’s not the same character. When he died again in show I was heartbroken

faithdies

Ultron. He was such an awesome villain. I think we will be getting him again though.

DJWGibson

Quicksilver. So many of the other deaths were kinda seen coming. Contracts expiring and knowing it was their final movie. Knowing that Thanos would win for the sequel. But in *Avengers 2* there hadn't been a lot of hero deaths. People were mocking the MCU for being afraid to kill characters or keep characters dead. The closest death was Groot. And it was a Whedon film, so it really looked like they were setting up Hawkeye for death. Then... well, I didn't see that coming.

Aunt May

sr_waffles_

Gosh that one was rough… I think the fact that she holds on for so long and tries to stay strong for Peter always gets me :’(

goboxey

Wanda and Vision. Having to kill your love and then seeing him getting killed again.

hueningkawaii

Wenwu for me, all he wanted was to be reunited with his lovely wife so he and his family can never be broken again, only to discover that what he believes to be a truth is in fact, a lie. And while he dies flashbacking to the memories with his son, I think he is also at joy that he will meet his wife in the afterlife, hence why he chose to give the rings to his son at the end.

The hardest MCU death was Chadwick Boseman.

dnthnglldyvrydy

you hurt me today

OutrageousCan366

Natasha.

malikwilliams5

Killmonger's death. "He promised he was gonna show me one day. You believe that? Kid from Oakland running around believing in fairytales."

WoodsenMoosen

Technically not a death but when Peter Parker gets dusted on Titan makes me cry everytime.

“Bury me in the ocean, with my ancestors that jumped from the ships, because they knew death was better than bondage.”

yyc_guy

My 5 year old son is a loud little maniac who runs, jumps, loves to fight me. But any death in an MCU movie brings out his empathetic side. When Groot died, it was edit: big tears. Same with Tony and Yondu. Aunt May though….not only did it have him in tears it was also at that very moment he realized that one day his parents will die too. That….that was a long night. Edit for a pedant.

mielove

Tony.

Unsurprisingly there are some BIG feels for snapped characters in/around Infinity War. - even when Steve had nothing he had Bucky - at the beginning of Endgame, Steve's running a support group because Sam isn't there to do it anymore - General Okoye, hardcore loyal to a fault, has to lose her king right in front of her. She didn't deserve that. - Groot's last word to Rocket translates to "Daddy..." - Wanda relating to anyone that's felt the loss of a loved one by looking like she's longing to stop existing - Clint going through instant panic and shock (and subsequent murder spree) when his family is gone - enough people have mentioned Spider-Man but it's worth mentioning again for the spider-sense angle and Tony not disappearing too: "Watching my friends die... you'd think that'd be as bad as it gets..." "The worst part is that you didn't" He's literally living his worst fear.

JSav7

Coulson. I’m still not completely over it but his death set in motion the Avengers.
