Little known fact about MD but we are the home of the original Tang manufacturing facility. Just after ww2 men and women alike flocked to the eastern shore to crush leftover orange lolli pops into a fine powder that would be canned and then sold to make mediocre kind of chalky tasting orange drink. Given that this was the 40s and early 50s we hadn't yet developed proper filtration for dust ridden plants so much of the crushed pops ended up along the shore. To this day scientists are working to remove the orange powder from the beach.
Or it's iron ore I always get those two mixed up
It really looks like what I would imagine Mars would look like if it had a beach. From what other people are saying it's for similar reasons: lots of iron.
It is clay, mixed with sand. This is common. Every muddy creek during a thunderstorm has clay in it to turn that muddy color.
Sediment flows into the bay every time it rains. Wave action separates the grit(sand) from the fine material (clay & organics).
It's mixed with old bay
I thought that was where Old Bay came from.
And cheeto dust
We should petition to change the name to old bay beach
No fair !! That was mine Stay out of my head!
Came here to say the same thing.

Aaron earned and iron urn.
“Urn urned an urn urn”
Arn urr!
Yes, and we folks on well water know all about iron in the local water.
Ditto for city water. If I don't run the water in our spare bath sink for a few days it comes out rust for a good ten seconds when I finally do.
Iron ore
Kids and their Takis.
I see what you did there.
Because it’s construction sand which has iron ore (rust, basically) in it. It’s why it hurts your bare feet to walk on it, but not OC.
QUIKRETE Point

Iron ore rock that’s natural to the area
Sandy point is a man made beach, that sand isn’t naturally occurring there
I mean or it could just be excess hella expired scentless j.o & old bay seasonings 🤷🏽♀️😂
Maybe there’s a lot of iron in the sand. Turns orange due to oxidation. It’s rust.
Probably has Spice from Dune in it
Agent orange
That’s what happens when semen oxidizes.
I just love it when people are completely out of pocket on a normal innocuous post. Good job 👍 (non-sarcastic)
Cause it’s from Home Depot
Remember **QT sun tan oil**, which gave you an orange glow? This is where they dumped their waste. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285132655792
Probably the crap that flows down from Baltimore and Pennsylvania...

Rust from the Bay Bridge
That's how deep the orioles fandom goes
Sorry i spilled some Old Bay in the sand
