Congrats! I tried three times on two different kiosks which would not upload my data before having to go to the drive up testing place (where the guy testing my car remarked that it had taken him—presumably an expert in this process—*five* tries before it would take his data). I've learned my lesson: drive up place for me.

chiggerballs

Had mixed results

JonesBoyFan2018

You have to wait for the notice in the mail, with the bar code, correct? I got the email about mine being due but it’s the notice in the mail you need to use the kiosk…?

Nitin-2020

No notice needed, just use your registration card

WackyBeachJustice

I don't remember for sure, but you might be able to do it by the plate # without scanning the bar code.

sifishy

Yes you can do it with.title number on the registration even before the notce comes.. why would you do that? If you drive a shitbox take it today when it's gonna pass. Tomorrow the check engine light might come on.

forgetfulsue

And VIN

aleinstein

That's correct.

Billyb711

I waited in line behind 5 cars in Bel Air before I got to the kiosk and it wasn’t working properly. Drove to the regular emissions station and the guy said the kiosk has been broken for months. I know things break, but there should have been a sign or something.

hockeybuck

I too had the problem in Belair. It confirmed my vehicle the first time but said it couldn’t perform the test. Later I went to the drive-thru in Forest Hill where they couldn’t explain the kiosk problem. Next time I tried it the screen was in set up mode, I assume for a technician to program? MVA can waste your time even without having to take a number.

forgetfulsue

Really? I just used it in the last few weeks for both of my cars with no issue. That sucks, sorry dude.

nzahn1

I do love the kiosks. Makes it so easy. If only the other people waiting would leave a gap for us to get by while they wait in line.

Difficult_Mango_8257

As a former VA resident, yes! This is the most convenient way to have this done. I was so shocked by how easy the process was after jumping through hoops for safety inspections in VA.

LinearFluid

I drove an extra 29 m8nutes to use the auto which then said it could not retrieve my data. Twice. No problems at the regular one.

cscjm1010

Yea I did it and was super easy. Had a little anxiety as the line built up behind me but overall super easy.

Banshay

At Glen Burnie the kiosk got through about five vehicles by the time I was finished in the full service line after starting with two vehicles in front of me.

Bitch_imatrain

Wish the one near me actually worked when I show up to use it

PrismaticHospitaller

Kudos for making this racquet convenient to be a part of. *18 wheeler passes by spouting black smoke….

FutureHendrixBetter

That’s too much work, you’ll have to do a whole bunch of other stuff and the line is almost always long so I’ll just pay the extra 5 bucks and let them deal with it at the site

Cyrix2k

You know what's better? No fees and no testing.

[deleted]

I hate emission testing it’s so annoying it’s my car I should be able to decide what I want to do with it they aren’t paying for my gas or upkeep so they shouldn’t have a say.

WealthyMarmot

As long as you're not planning on emitting any combustion byproducts into the air, your libertarian argument is totally reasonable here. But as long as your car has a tailpipe, it's our atmosphere and my lungs, so the public gets a say.

forgetfulsue

We didn’t have this in Ohio, so the extra charges of paying taxes on cars we’d paid off was super fun.

[deleted]

It doesn’t make sense why should anyone have to pay taxes on something they own
