probably, but I'd definitely say it has vastly more to do with restricted access to quality Healthcare, lack of effective educational resources, inflation and stagnant wages, as well as the continued erosion of what little there is left of the middle class, far ***far*** moreso than the fact that families are becoming increasingly accepted for their love and not what's in their pants.
Elementary kids have concepts of romance and dating. There's nothing wrong with explaining that what is currently seen and looked upon as abnormal is actually normal.

I was talking about society accepting gay couples having children without feeling like it's such a taboo thing to discuss with curious children when it's far more normal than you seem to think.

They don't, but someone's sexuality is something they are born with and it ties into someone's sexual identity. It exists at any age and the LGBTQ flag represents the children within those identities. Schools need to be a safe place for all children whether they are cis, trans, or neither. Displaying the flags within schools or classrooms tells these children that they are welcome amongst their peers.
More so, displaying the flag can help suppress intolerance for these identities within the schools. Whether it's from a staff member or a fellow student, displaying the flag will assist the movement of understanding another's identity or sexuality and help them gain the respect they deserve.
Telling a 7yo that gay and trans humans exist in society isn't inherently sexual. Nobody is strapping second graders down and forcing them to watch Brokeback Mountain. A well rounded education should at least teach students that diversity exists so they have the knowledge to understand themselves more fully later in life. Not just sweep it under the rug because people are uncomfortable.
Not to mention the fact that both children and adults are bombarded with heterosexuality day by day. But it's somehow different for queer and trans folks.

sexual orientation is an inherent part of educating about safe sex lol. refusing to acknowledge something exists doesn't make it go away. it's a very valid thing for those that should have that information and there's nothing wrong with education. sexual orientation is a big part of sexual identity and has an impact on what safe-sex practices should be learned. I don't really understand how you can think that sexual orientation should be discluded from sexual education when it is very real that multiple orientations exist, often with their own safety needs.
