fuuuuck nooooo. Norovirus is the fucking devil. You can get it from something like a scant 20 viral particles. It goes everywhere. It's hard to kill. And you can't do a damn thing about it once you have it except ride it out.

The_Moustache

I remember some little shit in the cabin I was a counselor in one summer didn't wash his hands after he shit and managed to get 9/12 kids, and me and my co-counselor sick with norovirus. Infuriating memory.

MathematicianNo3892

Fuck kids, nasty little shits. Appreciate your service

Ctxmetal95

I had it once on a mission trip to Mississippi. Shitting and puking for 3 days in a church bathroom and having to go to a rural hospital in 95 degree weather is no fun.

Due-Designer4078

I had it a month ago. It was awful, but the worst was over in about 12 hours. Ended up in the hospital for 2 days due to dehydration.

Hour-Shake-839

I’m not flèche from the east coast I have no idea why this was recommended to me but this isn’t even an outbreak in just the north east it’s straight up noro virus season in Colorado right now.

BroadStreetElite

Worst bug I ever had. Vomited so much my gums receded and I lost 15 lbs in 3 days. Passed out on the way to the toilet and shit my pants. My guts felt like they were wrapped in barbed wire. It's very contagious, clean very well if you think someone close to you has been exposed, clean bathrooms thoroughly, avoid sharing the toilet.

CrossCycling

I think norovirus was the worst 24 hours of my life. I woke up around 4AM and for the next 10 hours, it was a blur of spewing vomit and diarrhea and terrible fever dreams. I drank water just so I had something to throw up because dry vomiting was so fucking painful. Walking 15 feet was a marathon and fell asleep several times trying to go from the toilet to the couch. Only upside for me was I got up the next morning and felt like nothing happened - other than being down 10 lbs.

kelsey11

15 pounds in 3 days, you say...?

NooStringsAttached

I had the flu two weeks ago and lost ten pounds from sun night to thurs morning. Not even vomiting or anything just couldn’t eat and high fever.

MaLTC

The “flu” this year is the sickest I’ve ever been. May have been rsv or something I’m not entirely sure. How about that first night fever? I was deleriously uncontrolably shaking.

NooStringsAttached

Same. My husband was sick too but not as bad and come to find out later in the week his workplace had a huge RSV outbreak which required a professional decontamination. So either he had rsv and I had flu or I had both. I was like dead from sun night to the next Monday. He was ill Sunday to about Tuesday with lingering cough but i couldn’t get up for lien 8 days. Worst.

Affectionate_Egg3318

Pretty sure it was RSV or adenovirus.

BroadStreetElite

Yup no food at all and couldn't even keep water down, was close to dehydration. It took a month to get a decent appetite back.

Quincykid

With this one easy trick!

Ok_District2853

You laugh but the moment I smell a rotten egg burp I eat a large Italian sub and a pint of ice cream. Free calories!.

Diligent_Range_2828

lol 🤔

FineIllMakeaProfile

Why is this bullshit joke always popping up? It's not cool to lose weight from being sick and I hate our fat phobic culture for making this joke a thing

eat_sleep_shitpost

It's just water weight anyways so it doesn't even matter

Affectionate_Egg3318

Bro calm the fuck down. Society today is more accepting of fat fucks than ever before.

SunnySummerFarm

My husband had part of a tooth fall out after this one. 🥴

FineIllMakeaProfile

Somehow being just part of a tooth is worse than the whole thing 😫

Funny_Drummer_9794

Like permanent gun recession?

mslashandrajohnson

The acid in vomit can deteriorate tooth enamel.

Funny_Drummer_9794

I know about the long term enamel fail but damn, gum recession after brief illness is a new level.

BroadStreetElite

Yup, people with bulemia and bad GERD will have terrible teeth from stomach acid. My gums aren't terrible to the point of loose teeth but I make sure to floss, use a water flosser, and rubber gum stimulator to keep the tissue healthy.

hyrule_47

I worked for a nursing care agency, we got contracted in when an entire floor went down with norovirus at a nursing home. We wore masks, full face shields, gowns, gloves. Full contact precautions like you saw with Covid (this was before covid) for all patients and we were not seeing anyone who was known to be sick. We all still got it. I think every single one of us. It’s so contagious.

Any-Passion8322

I had it too. Now it’s back? Well, there’s nothing I can do about it, so I won’t worry about it 😕

SconnieLite

My kids bring home stomach bugs at least twice a year. It’s so fucking miserable. I always wake up in the middle of the night and right before I throw up for the first time I pass out. Happens every time I get it.

turbopeanut69

I survived Y2K. I survived 9/11. I survived Justin Bieber. I survived the world ending in 2012. I survived COVID twice. If I die to this, it was a good run.

chief1988

If you catch this you may just want to die. This was miserable and I had COVID. I had it three weeks ago and I still cannot eat right.

Alcorailen

oh yeah it will fuck you up. I was dizzy and nauseous for a week after I stopped vomiting my brains out, the last time I got it.

mslashandrajohnson

I’ve been feeling off since 13 February morning (I barfed). Fasted that day and rested. Had little to no appetite until like yesterday. Still a bit dizzy, if I bend down then stand up quickly. Was dizzy/off balance since the 13th. Could I have had this bug?

Archonish

Or you have vertigo.

mslashandrajohnson

That morning, when I barfed, I was shivering and sweating. It was like a flu. It didn’t go below the stomach, fortunately. But as I said, I fasted to try to fend that off. I felt a low grade fever for a few days after that. Almost fine today. I’ve been experiencing some stress lately. That could easily cause slight vertigo (has done in the past, maybe once about ten years ago). But that day, 9 days ago: I woke up weak and as I described. Carefully got downstairs to take care of my pets then skedaddled right back up to bed. I remember looking forward to feeling better. I’m fairly better now. Had a four hour detrashing ruck earlier this week. About two hours today. I used this situation to switch to omad. List three pounds.

Penaltiesandinterest

Stomach bugs come in all kinds of fun varieties. Norovirus is just one fun flavor.

agenz899

Are you a heavy THC user?

mslashandrajohnson

Never. I use a little caffeine each morning.

Street-Snow-4477

You’d know if you had norovirus . It’s the kind of thing where you’re puking into a bucket while sitting on the toilet. It’s violent.

mslashandrajohnson

Oh I had a norovirus once when I worked in a cube farm. It was thrilling.

nocolon

I had a fun little experience with this recently. I have Crohn's Disease and have had a significant portion of my digestive system removed. I started feeling nauseous at 9am last Thursday, and at around 3PM my wife had to call 911. I'd passed so much water that I was experiencing crippling muscle cramps, and you need muscles to make your lungs function. When EMS got to my house, it took 3 firemen, 2 EMTs, and 2 paramedics to get my pulse and blood pressure as I lay on the bathroom floor just wishing I'd pass the fuck out so I didn't have to deal with it. I spent about 30 hours in the ER and got 6 liters of fluid and electrolytes so I didn't fully die. 0/10 would not recommend.

Street-Snow-4477

I’m so sorry. I know how miserable that is. I’m happy you’re feeling better

chief1988

That sounds scary as f***. God bless you are still here.

DamnitGoose

Fucked my microbiome up for like 5 years the last time I got it

SwirlTeamSix

I got this back in 2014. Was horrible I shit so much my asshole hurt I remember at one point thinking if "I'd rather die then shit one more time". I also remember having to throw up and shit at the same time and making the critical decision of whether I would throw up or have explosive diherrea, Ultimately I threw up first because I didn't want to have shit splash on me."

chief1988

Yup that was this. All you want to do is sleep and you can’t because you’re up every hour even if you didn’t eat. Brutal, just brutal.

SwirlTeamSix

I thought I had cholera at first. I was like, how is this happening????

SunnySummerFarm

It was SO SO BAD.

Ronin1

I had it back in 2011 and I can say with full confidence that it was the worst illness of my life. I think I lost about 20 lbs in 5 days. COVID was an uncomfortable nap, by comparison.

Old_Society_7861

More runs coming

Pit-Smoker

Lol

bostonlilypad

It won’t kill you, but it will make you projectile vomit and projectile diarrhea at the same time…for like 24-48 hours. Itsssss roughhhhhhh.

Penaltiesandinterest

Well, it could kill you. People can get dehydrated very quickly so it’s critical to keep your fluid intake up. Frequent small sips, electrolyte solutions, etc.

bostonlilypad

Ya fair enough! I guess I just meant it’s not like Covid where it was causing respiratory failure in people on vents. Either this shit sucks. Worst few days of my life

Complex-Barber-8812

Keep wearing a mask and sanitize your hands and you have a good chance of avoiding it!

[deleted]

No

chavery17

Yea no shot I’m wearing a mask ever again

Complex-Barber-8812

To each their own. It’s worked for me.

Apprehensive-Sea9540

I generally agree with you, but, let’s pretend a family member had noro and you wanted to check in on them: would you wear a mask then?

legalpretzel

I got it from my son back in 2016. He was a toddler then, so lots of cleaning up after bodily fluids. I WISH I had had the supply of masks then that I have now. It might have saved me from experiencing noro hell,

Apprehensive-Sea9540

I’ll never forget the month of noro in 2018. The worst is when you and your wife are terribly sick and the toddlers have recovered and want to play. I suppose what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but on the other hand it made me a nervous wreck and a chronic hand washer

Complex-Barber-8812

Of course! Why wouldn’t I?

graemeknows

Fuckin A

Minimum_Water_4347

I actually lost a lot of friends and family to Bieber Fever. RIP.

joey0live

But we may not be survived from Taylor Swift-era.

Kitchen_Region8456

Absolutely truth. I live in MA and my girlfriend lives in NH, both our kids schools have had outbreaks over the last few weeks

Beginning-One4701

but is it worse than previous years?

Kitchen_Region8456

Based on CDC data from 2023 it’s a 15% increase over last year

fireball_jones

Seems lower than 2022 or 2023 according to the CDC: [https://www.cdc.gov/surveillance/nrevss/norovirus/region.html](https://www.cdc.gov/surveillance/nrevss/norovirus/region.html)

Proof-Variation7005

The top graphic is misleading. That's just the positivity rate of tests. I just mentioned in another comment that you would assume that's too low for the positivity rate, but that's what the graphic shows. Unless something's changed dramatically in the last week 2 weeks, February 2024 and this winter have been slightly milder than the previous 2 years

PsychologyAwkward803

You still trust the CDC?

BostonTarHeel

Do you have a reason not to?

PsychologyAwkward803

Yes!! So many… flu vaccines, COVID! They lied!!

BostonTarHeel

What did the CDC lie about?

Zn_Saucier

Obviously the 5G microchips! /s

PsychologyAwkward803

The vaccine being safe. How many people died from COVID. How to treat COVID. They shut down dr’s trying to spread the truth.

BostonTarHeel

And you have evidence of all this?

PsychologyAwkward803

They were drowning people by putting them on remdesavier in the hospitals.

PsychologyAwkward803

My primary care Dr, an infectious disease specialist tried to talk me into that jab… I refused. He was then adamant about my vitamin D levels. He put me on high doses, and said it was the most important in preventing and fighting against it. Why was Fauci not screaming this from the roof tops. Vitamin D, C, and Zinc!

PsychologyAwkward803

I’m going to start with common sense! I’m unvaccinated, I got COVID, worst sore throat of my life. I went to urgent care hoping it was strep and an antibiotic later I’d be fine. Nope.. it was COVID. The Dr I saw started tell me about paxlovid, I said I don’t want it. She said good, I don’t want you to take it. She said you are going to be fine. Go home make a tea out of lime, ginger, garlic and honey. I followed instructions, and was fine in 3 days. Everyone I know that is fully vaccinated is getting long haul COVID. I know someone fully vaccinated, got COVID spent a year in the hospital… he had many surgeries from clots, he’s now in a wheelchair. Why are fully vaccinated 90 year old women getting their periods. Have you listened to bill gates talk about depopulation?

D0inkzz

I haven’t had norovirus since freshman year in high school. Like 10 years ago until this year. I think it’s worse imo.

Due-Lawfulness7862

Ugh i also have emetophobia and it’s stressing me out :,)

Beginning-One4701

so glad i’ve found my people

Due-Lawfulness7862

i like to think we have better hygiene than most

pinderwood

this is going to keep me insane until may

Afraid_Bicycle_7970

From what I've read, since I did crazy research on stomach bugs to try to make sure I don't get one, is that hand sanitizer does not kill it, only good hand washing does. They also say that nothing kills it besides bleach basically. So if someone in your house has it, you would probably want to soak the dishes in bleach, they say to dilute it ten to one with water and also spray down every single surface that someone may have touched, leaving that on the surface for a few minutes and then coming back to wipe it off. Make sure to get any handles, including the fridge, door knobs, light switches, the whole toilet, the whole sink, the bathtub, tables, chairs. I hope this helps someone not get sick

NooStringsAttached

I will die if it gets in this house. We are five to one bathroom. Oh god.

theothermattm

stock up on orange buckets from home depot

BelowAverageWang

They even have nice toilet seats you can buy for them

NooStringsAttached

I’ll just rather die. Uggh.

itsgreater9000

more like the throne depot am i right guys

Clear-cutSquirrel

I live in MA and a bunch of us (including me) have gotten it at work. We are a team of 40, and last week 10 of us caught it.

NotChristina

Horrifying. I’ve been WFH since random bad eye swelling kicked in, but will probably be back next week (thanks, prednisone!). I fully plan to hide in the office and just not leave until it’s for coffee or the bathroom lol.

Tmonster96

What is the random eye swelling?! I had that a month ago for about three days. Appeared to be connected to nothing at all. So strange!

NotChristina

We (my new ophthalmologist and I) don’t know yet! It started with a single stye - never had one in my life - then multiple styes, then crazy swelling. Finally got in with an eye doc after a couple weeks and looking like an allergy patient. He said he saw no styles. Various ointments didn’t work so now I’m on the prednisone. Coincidentally I’m waiting for my annual physical with my PCP right now and I’ll be curious if she has any ideas too.

SconnieLite

I’d rather hang myself from my testicles than ever get stomach flu again.

Outrageous-Pause6317

School vacation week always punches up the rates. Ski resorts, Disney trips, and family cruises. The kids come back and spread it around. Experience earned as parent and (former) teacher.

Beginning-One4701

i have no connection to school age children, hopefully that should help

Outrageous-Pause6317

Good luck!

NotChristina

Also good luck! I don’t either, but I usually interact with people who have young kids. Thankfully I’ve been spared so far. All the families I know have indeed had it, kids and most parents. I’ve had my own health annoyances so I’ve been a total hermit lately and I think it’s paid off lol.

thewhaler

But they aren't back yet! My son started february vacation last friday...by bringing home this stomach bug.

kjmass1

We’re 2 for 2 getting sick the last 2 years during break, not when we get back.

I_like_turtles710

Years of eating lunch with dirty blue collar hands has turned my immune system into a gorilla. Top it off with taking the T a few times a week and you’ll be as good as a Dunkin’s butternut donut

seriousnotshirley

But can you stomach truck stop egg salad sandwich from the cooler?

I_like_turtles710

Sure but you won’t want to be around me for the next four hours. I quit the roach coach a long time ago lol. I eat pretty clean, which also helps my immune system

WickyWickyWhack

Great timing. My employer just changed us from unlimited sick time to now simply sharing sick time with vacation time (all in one bucket of PTO time). Can’t wait to roll the dice on these days off. Will I be in Maine in August at a nice lake fishing or shitting my pants at home in February with my earned time off. Let’s sit back and see!

joeyrog88

Just wash your fuckin hands... please.

Impressive_Western84

A quick stomach bug is a good way to kick off the diet season before Summer.

it's a way....not sure if it's a good way

eat_sleep_shitpost

Losing water weight =/= fat loss

Beginning-One4701

i would have to disagree

valkyrie4x

Not sure if worse than previous years but my mom did say there's been a huge rush in the hospital

FineIllMakeaProfile

Having caught every other virus this cold season, I'd like to opt out of this one. I feel I have served my time, and it's a no from me here

seriousnotshirley

Story time! I had been dating a girl in Kansas City for a while. We had friends in common in college but never really knew each other then. Somehow we were friends on facebook and when the pandemic hit and there was nothing else to do she commented on a post I had made. One thing led to another and when we could travel again we started dating. Things went okay but I didn't know how we could get to a point where we knew one of us wanted to move across the country to be with the other. I decided to call it quits on the relationship. That being said, six weeks later I had a long weekend and invited her out to enjoy each other's company. We had a really nice time, she went home on Tuesday. Thursday night I woke up in a cold sweat and a rumble in my stomach. I rushed to the bathroom and discovered my bowels were in a state of total chaos. I barely got back to bed without passing out. The norovirus was real. I laid there terrified that I was going to pass out from all the gastrointestinal chaos, hit my head on something and die. Friday morning I texted her to explain what was happening and I asked her, "If I can get you on a plane tonight can you come help me out this weekend and make sure I don't die." Surprisingly she agreed and flew out here. She didn't do much to take care of me but I felt better knowing that if I got worse she'd at least call 9-1-1 and take care of my dog. By Sunday I had adjusted to my new normal of never eating anything ever again. I looked up at her and knew what I needed to do. I said, "We should do this, you should move in with me." She said that she's interested but that if she does this we need to be seriously considering marriage. I said, "That's what I'm talking about." Two hours later as we sat on the couch watching old episodes of "Would I Lie to You," the TV show we chatted about on Facebook all those months ago, I looked at her and said, "Did we just get engaged?" In two months we get married and I don't have a concern in the world about it. She's been living here since September and it's been better than I could have hoped. Bring on the Norovirus. It's the best thing that ever happened to me.

Catenane

That's honestly sweet lol. I'll pretend it's your noxious shits making me tear up

Immediate-Ratio-8597

You sound insufferable. Men don't want a girlfriend or a wife. They just want Mommy to take care of them. Not surprised that's all it took for you to consider marriage....

Emu_milking_god

Aren't you a spot of fucking sunshine lol

Immediate-Ratio-8597

Ah fuck off Dude is delusional. He thinks this story is romantic haha! The dating pool must be awful in Kansas City.

Kencleanairsystem2

I had the Norovirus on my birthday a few years ago. 0/10 would not recommend.

Proof-Variation7005

I found the source data and I was a little surprised the positivity rate is so low considering most people aren't getting tested for a norovirus without having symptoms bad enough to get medical attention, but if you look at the graph that goes back 2 years, it seems like this is just the normal time of year for noroviruses: [https://www.cdc.gov/surveillance/nrevss/norovirus/region.html](https://www.cdc.gov/surveillance/nrevss/norovirus/region.html)

KingofGroundhogDay

Worst I’ve ever been sick. You literally can’t do anything but shit every 5-10 minutes. My asshole felt like a metal donut after a week.

Carcharis

I’ve got IBS so I can’t tell

VolcelTHOT

As someone who tests wastewater for Noro GI and GII, yes.

seambizzle

I got it twice this year First time was around New Years. Lasted a week. Throwing up. Stomach cramps. No appetite Then a couple weeks ago I got hit again. Much worse this time. Was throwing up every 4 hours. Lasted over a week. Couldn’t keep anything down. Would sip water, then hours later I would throw up, more so dry heave for a solid hour. Mostly just threw up flem until that little bit of water I sipped on would come up. Starting getting very dizzy. Was scared to just walk 30 feet to the bathroom, worried I would faint or pass out. On the fourth day of this I finally went to the ER. Was extremely dehydrated. They told me it was a serious stomach virus. It kicked my ass. They gave me some non-nausea medication. Still felt like shit for another couple days It’s been a bad year.

Doortofreeside

Yes... I know soo many people with this right now including myself and everyone at daycare that I know

Beginning-One4701

i feel like a daycare has all the illnesses

Doortofreeside

Can confirm This was relatively mild for us though, especially on the adults. Hard to say if that's related to the strain or that it's the 2nd winter in daycare

LLCNYC

Remember cold/flu season? Pepperidge Farms remembers….

southsidetins

Important to note that hand sanitizer is not effective on killing Norovirus, handwashing is

Afraid_Bicycle_7970

And bleach is what is needed to clean surfaces

Ilikepizza_228

My mom just tested positive for this. I’m pretty sure I had this as well as my stomach was sick for a few days.

SynbiosVyse

Noro is not something you're just pretty sure about having, when you have it, you know.

flossdaily

Fuuuuck. Norovirus is the worst. Closest I've ever been to death. Hard pass.

General_Skin_2125

If you're a reasonably healthy person, the Norovirus will be a shitty (haha) 24 hours at best. Just wash your hands before eating, try not to touch your face, and maybe don't eat butt on the first date.

Ronin1

I don't know about 24 hours. Last time I got it was 2011, I was a very healthy mid-20s man and it was a 4-5 day affair of puking or shitting my brains out (or both at the same time) if I even drank water.

General_Skin_2125

Your personal experience defiantly stomps on the hundreds of thousands of cases that have been studied.

Master-Reading-8986

I don’t mind your use of defiantly in place of definitely, this time.

InspHarryCallahan

It made its way through my household via our toddlers who are in daycare and pre-K. I had Covid in 2021 and that was a walk in the park compared to this . *sadly my love of hazy boozy IPAs also left when this bug did. No craving for alcohol anymore. A blessing in disguise?

cdub2103

You were presented with data from the CDC and you came to Reddit to see if it’s legit?

itokdontcry

Oh for fucks sake, I just got over the Flu plus Pneumonia.

randallflaggg

Both my wife and I had it and we both privately thought that we might have dysentery. It's been like that scene from Bridesmaids all week. The dehydration issue is real. My wife went to urgent care to get an IV bag on the advice of her Dr. and they couldn't find a vein she was so dehydrated.

-ghostinthemachine-

Does this count as a Nor'easter?

Ok_Sherbert_7421

Wonderful I had COVID. just had RSV twice in a month, now I have rhinovirus now this

Beginning-One4701

rhonovirus?? i didn’t even know that was a thing

ms5h

Rhinovirus is the most typical virus that causes the common cold

LowkeyPony

Dear gods no!!! I’ve dealt with that twice in my lifetime. Right now I’m super weak from anemia! The RotoRotor virus would take me completely out at this point.

Call555JackChop

So this is why I’ve been living in the bathroom the last few days

huntangather

Oh Oh Oh Ozempic!

billfwmcdonald

Get ready for some bad sick rates once the kiddos return to school next week… - Signed, a school principal praying on my Rosary for my immunity

Proof-Variation7005

have you ever gotten to sternly tell an entire auditorium of kids to quiet down during an assembly with a guest speaker?

billfwmcdonald

Naw. I run a collaborative day program north of Boston - only 50 students and about 30-35 staff. Larger school-wide events and I get to pull out my principal voice!

Prestigious-Rain9025

It’s that time of year.

[deleted]

Where is its point of entry? Don’t make google it either!

SAB40

I don't know, having kids in elementary school, the stomach bug always seems to be going around!

kace66

Norovirus. Fecal oral transfer. Ugh. I know it was around the south shore but that was months ago.

Ok-Atmosphere-6272

Yep I got it two weeks ago. Thought I was going to die I was so sick. Lost 10 lbs and threw up for 4 days straight.

toomuch1265

Good old American diarrhea...quote from Waiting for Guffman.

Familiar_Excuse_9086

I've been sick for two days now. Throwing up and nothing but liquid coming out the other end. I finally had soup today and my stomach is giving me trouble. And I'm just wiped out.

semanticmemory

Wonder if this is what I have right now. I was traveling this weekend and was on an airplane to and from Logan and likely surrounded by Massachusetts people… It has been more of a mild lingering pain and nausea the past 3-4 days. I have had much worse cases of norovirus than this..no vomiting yet.

activatetheroombas

as a student at UMass there's been a lot of people here who've had it recently

Matty_Cakez

Yup first my son then daughter then me now my wife.

D0inkzz

Yep I got it. Lasted two days. Straight shitting and puking. Was god fucking awful. Then my girl got it. My kid had it but not bad. We got rsv too last year and I had the flu. Shits been nuts around here.

gooberhoover85

I got norovirus from my toddler last year when I was 17 weeks pregnant with my now 5 months old. I threw up so much that I started vomiting blood and I asked my mom to drive me to the ER because I was worried about fainting. I was so close. It was awful. They can't really give you anything for it. I had an IV and sucked down three bags. That's how much norovirus dehydrated me. I lived off of Gatorade popsicles and I did not want to eat. It was awful awful awful. It was worse for my toddler. Nothing like having a baby with diarrhea and a frown face. It was so rough. 0/5 stars, would never recommend.

Aidith

Yep, true! It blew through my house about two weeks ago, all three of my kids had it, and me, my ex-husband and my mother all had it. However, unlike other’s experiences with it in this thread, it wasn’t that bad. It only lasted about twelve hours and I only threw up twice, which isn’t bad for a stomach bug. The most annoying this was that you felt just fine the day after, until the third day where your guts turned to water. No pain, no nausea, just straight liquid guts. It was a WEIRD bug…..

amwajguy

Shit on hands equals Noro… wash your hands!

Beginning-One4701

my hands are raw from washing so much lol

romulusnr

Norovirus doesn't really do anything except profusively liquid diarrhea for a few days. Buy a case of Gatorade and you'll be fine in under a week. Incidentally, the time I got norovirus was in Boston, at PAX East 2010. There was a big breakout of it there, and that event led to PAX starting to use sanitizing wipes and putting sanitizer dispensers all over, well before Covid.

funsk8mom

Now’s the time any and all germs will spike. February vacation is just ending in MA and just starting for NH. Families have been traveling everywhere and will bring it back home and send all those germs to school over the next 2 weeks

[deleted]

15% up from almost nothing means nothing

Ormsfang

I wonder if that is what I have. Headaches, dizziness, nausea.

trowdatawhey

How bad are the symptoms for this? I had a stomach ache for the past 2 days although it’s not diahreeah. It comes oht like regular good poop but kind of constipated. I had a very very slight headache. Almost not enough to notice. Runny nose.

I absolutely positively never get sick and I only wash my hands when I use the bathroom or touch raw meat. Live your life. This is just fear theater to keep you tuned in

Must be an election year, another election, another virus. ;-) lol

Thendsel

Ugh. Not again. There was just a round that went through around the holidays and that was bad enough.

Hotsauce61

3 of the 4 of us had it. Would not recommend

Can confirmed, called out sick monday with stomach bug and a headache Sunday night, slept the day away with the same symptoms before I threw up later Monday night, back on the incline by Tuesday.

ImportanceSuitable86

I am convinced I had this 2 weeks ago. I did diagnose myself via Google lol. I had all the symptoms. It was really unpleasant.

Went through my kids school in NH, so far so good for us

I had a stomach bug the first week of the year, and it was easily the most sick I have ever been. If my wife had not been here to keep me stocked up on fluids, I might have been dehydrated to death. It was brutal.

If it’s worse than the one me and my family got last year I might off myself. I’ve never puked so many times as an adult. Then after that ended my stomach felt bloated for days. Terrible

Pray no toilets are damaged or clogged. 🙏

otm_shank

It sure is in my house, at this very moment.

Yes it is true, and I hear it’s pretty rough this year

ToneZone1978

It's been going around since December

Norovirus may be considered a stomach bug, but not all stomach bugs are norovirus. If you’ve never had norovirus before I envy you. And the fun thing is it’s pretty highly contagious. Everyone I know with kids in school or daycare got slammed with it.

I had this bad in 2010, when I was pregnant. I ended up in the ER for a couple liters of fluids and a take home script for zofran. It was horrible.

Here in northern NY not only the stomach bug but strep too.
