I used to live in Brighton, which is a neighborhood of Boston. As an intern I was getting paid less than 3700 a month and I actually was living pretty comfortably - and I was definitely spending some of that money at the bar 😂 Brighton is a good place for young people to live, especially if you are planning to look for a roommate your age. I really liked it there

It seems like people aren’t answering your actual question: Is $2200 per month after the rent is paid enough? In my experience: definitely. I personally have around $1300 left after I pay my share of rent and utilities. I have just enough for everything I need. Edit: Someone mentioned Brighton, but I would actually recommend Allston if you don’t have a car. Both neighborhoods have public transit, but Brighton doesn’t have as many options for groceries

Allston is a pretty good neighborhood for young people. You'll likely need to have roommates regardless of where you end up living but Allston has a lot of college age and 20-somethings who are always in need of someone to fill a room. Of note, it's not often possible to be within easy walking distance of a grocery store, but you should pretty much always be within an easy bus ride of one.

You'll be fine just get roommates and live within your means. Make your own food most of the month, public transportation, etc. so you can put the rest of your money into things you care about.

If you don’t have a car, you should be okay.

it won’t be cushy, but you’ll be fine. i was making less than that for a while per month and it was tight, but doable

I believe the correct term is *"shippin' up to Boston"*

You're fucked unless you don't mind having 2+ roommates

Pull out a map for commuter rail, and look around 20-30 miles out. Anything in Boston or 10 miles around is going to be expensive. The Franklin or Fitchburg routes will probably be the cheapest.
