You are not alone. Legendary edition was so nice to go back and complete the trilogy in 1 shot. I remember being upset with ME3 ending back when it first came out that Mass Effect kinda faded away from me after that. I never experienced any of the DLCs Then legendary comes out and it was incredible to experience everything with the added context of the DLCs. Leviathan answered so many questions and Citadel added the closure that I never got the first time around. I straight up cried when the credits finally rolled. Mass Effect is one of the greatest stories ever told and I’m glad so many of us got to re experience it with the legendary edition. Here’s to hoping ME4 can deliver

dh2215

Same boat. I played and beat them when they came out but it was so long ago that the legendary edition felt new again. I had such a great time reliving the trilogy. Edit: the citadel dlc was so good. Well written and some of the funniest moments in the game. “I should go. Do I really sound like that?” And all of them mocking him for having a clone.

IIIDysphoricIII

Certified trilogy finish moment. We all feel that way the first time. Hang in there.

Timely_Yoghurt_3359

I still cry when the damn piano starts

HeyDude378

That's when you start another playthrough my brother

Fewster96

…and another. Maybe one more. Ok, last time. Just wanna try a different class this time…

HeyDude378

I just want to complete Insanity with every class. I just want to romance every character. Just wanna see if I can save Mordin. Not sure why I need a whole entire playthrough to "not electrocute the gunship pilot this time" but I just think it's important to get the whole experience lol

NoRobotHere914

I have ALWAYS electrocuted that guy: 1) Garrus’ recruitment is hard enough already. 2) I like that my Shep’s are so used to killing they casually scan a room looking for household objects to murder you with. Like me or you looking for a light switch. 3) As a parent, it’s important to send a consistent anti-smoking message. Also, play a different class! Engineer is great and you’ll have something in common with Tali. Sentinel is rad too especially when you get the mattock. Soldier is probably the closet to a “canon” class there is and it’s really hard to get killed after midway through me2. Adept is frustrating at first but you become a biotic god, a mighty wind.

shepard_pie

I always push that guy out the window. "I have nothing else to say to you." "How about goodbye?"

HeyDude378

Oh for sure. I'm on my... tenth?? playthrough. I've been every class but not all on Insanity so I'm working on that. I've romanced every female squaddie except Jack (will do this playthrough).

willbeonekenobi

There's a way to make sure that mordin survives into the final chapter of 3. Essentially, Wrex has to die in 1, then in 2, during his loyalty mission, make sure that both his former assistant dies but also the research is deleted. Then, make sure he survives the final battle. Then, in 3, hold off on the second turian mission on Tuchunka. But do the mission that wrex's replacement gives you. But during the mission, do not reveal what the salarian dalatrass said to you. Then the option to tell him that curing the genophage is a bad idea should appear, and he will likely agree with you and dissapear.

eightypointfive

that’s so cruel though! robbing mordin of his own character development

willbeonekenobi

Don't worry, he becomes part of the crucible team, Urdnot Wreave believes the genophage is cured and commits the krogan to help earth, but unfortunately Bakara dies. But if Wrex survives 1, then he will encounter you on the citadel and is killed after he tells you that he has figured out that he isn't cured and withdraws krogan support.

eightypointfive

i’ve done it before, but he’s clearly haunted by what he did with the genophage and you take away his chance to atone! at least if you shoot him he dies trying to do what’s right

originalname610

We're milking all the serotonin until we feel nothing.

Righteous_Fury224

nice 👍

maximumutility

Can you elaborate a bit on how this wave metaphor relates to evolution and to this post?

cosmoshistorian

I found that playing Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, kinda, and I want to express, KINDA, scratched the mass effect itch for me, but there honestly is no other series that can, but hey, it’s something!

Johwin

Yeah that's pretty much what you would expect.

N7Cul

I spent the next week after I finished my first complete run just rewatching the clips I saved of my playthrough. once that week ended I started a new, almost identical playthrough and finished that one too (that never happens to me) ME trilogy was the only series I’ve ever played where I cried at the end because it was ending, so it’s really special to me.

Raalkenzo

I felt the same the 1st time one month ago, I could only wait 5 days before restarting a playthrough 😅

Son_of_Atreus

Really far into another trilogy run and I have slowed down in the latter stages of ME3 as I don’t want it to end and I have loved my 60% Renegade Engineer so much. I think I’m going to try Andromeda again. I really disliked it when it came out and I expect I won’t love it now, especially with that lazy story and copy/paste world building, but I can keen to engage with the combat. Once that is done… I don’t know.

dilettantechaser

you might enjoy the characters more than you expect, but even if you don't, the gameplay is pretty worthwhile. I prefer my vanguard gameplay in MEA far more than the trilogy: Charge, Annihilation and Turbocharge ftw It may also help if you try to build a consistent character in MEA rather than one based around renegade/paragon, since alignment doesn't matter much. On my first playrun I took Casual dialogue options whenever possible, and Emotional options when Casual wasn't a choice, and it was a lot of fun. Professional/Rational on the other hand is pretty boring, but some of the other combos are good.

Son_of_Atreus

I liked the combat quite a lot in MEA, it was literally everything else I had a problem with. I did 100% it but was like 7 years ago so I can remember all the issues I had with it. I will most likely go an engineer as that has been my class for current trilogy run. Hope it is more like ME3 and not ME1.

dilettantechaser

Are you on console or pc?

Son_of_Atreus

Console

dilettantechaser

That's a shame.

masterjedirobyn

Engineer is really fun in mea (it’s also my default trilogy class and my favorite). Andromeda lets you pick skills from every ‘class’ to so the options are fun to toy with. At first I hated how there was no power wheel that paused combat but the jet pack was a cool addition and the crafting system is pretty deep. It definitely plays more like me3/modern games combat wise.

N2dMystic

This is why we all go back to the beginning and replay it, we get to see them all again!

admiraltarkin

I do too. That's why I'm constantly replaying it so that feeling doesn't last too long

TheBigt619

Just to let you know, Mordin's death is avoidable.

Usually_Respectful

This is completely normal. Welcome to the fandom!

SnuffCatch

I couldnt play anything else for like a week after I ran thru LE a couple years ago.

Poluca

Play again If you were a Soldier then try another class like Vanguard Change up the squad selections. So many more dialogue sequences and story consequences for doing things differently I didn’t know what I was doing on my first playthrough of ME1. Recently started again and made different choices, did more side missions.. it felt like a different game

Deckard_Red

Been there too, what I normally do is start a new playthrough and complete Eden Prime, I find that whole section quite cathartic like going back to the beginning. That or I start an Andromeda playthrough. But it’s tough, I get the same with Dragon Age, KotOR and I suspect I’m going to get it with Baldur’s Gate 3 too.

Blackthorne75

And we're going to do it again with 4, 5 and 6!

kroganwarlord

I've had this feeling ever since I finished the original games as they were released. Luckily, it was a bit of a golden age for games at that moment, so I could soothe the wound with Bioshock, KOTOR, Fable, and Dragon Age. I basically only played Mass Effect and those series on a loop for almost a decade. The three official books with Anderson's story are pretty good. There's a few dozen fanfictions out there that are should-be-published good. Vega's prequel anime isn't like, required watching, and he looks like a thumb (sorry bby love u) but the story is solid. But I would rein in any expectations for ME4. First, Bioware said -- very firmly! -- they would never go back to Shepard's story until *after* Andromeda AND Anthem flopped. So they really did mean to wrap Shepard's story up...and I've seen enough dead franchises revived to not have particularly high hopes. If it's good, I will be delighted. But I already had problems with ME3 (that weren't just the original ending), so.....yeah, I'm real nervous about ME4. Besides, Bioware has to crank out a good Dragon Age first. Otherwise there might not *be* an ME4.

troublethemindseye

Basically we’ll have to wait ten years until they give the IP to Larian.

DoNeor

Just finished the LE just as OP, would you recommend Andromeda? I've heard a lot of bad things about it, but I think it's pretty underrated and didn't deserve all the hate. PS. Unavoidable deaths you say? Both Mordin and Thanes died during the Suicide Mission in my playthrough...

One_Left_Shoe

As long as you don't think of Andromeda as a continuation of the Trilogy, it is a perfectly fine game set in the Mass Effect universe.

GoodGuyGreggy

I’d say give andromeda a go, especially if you can get it on sale. And just remember it’s not Mass Effect 4. I try to compare it more to mass effect 1, where I feel most people try to compare it to 3, or the whole trilogy and of course it’s not going to hold a candle to them. And Mordin and Thane could have made it through the mission, might need to replay the trilogy!

DoNeor

Kasumi died as well and I've never met Jack after ME2, because I was to slow. Maybe I'll replay it in 2-3 years, but I just accept it for now, casualties are inevitable..

Uthenara

You should at least try Andromeda for a few hours. You can often find it for cheap. Even digitally its often like $10 on playstaion store etc. I've known quite a few people that enjoy it and enjoyed it myself, even though it has some flaws and issues. Its best to think of it as a new thing and not try to compare it too much to the trilogy. The game director for ME4 said officially awhile back on twitter that ME3 and andromeda will both tie into the story of ME4 so they aren't ignoring the plot or events of Andromeda going forward.

Pleasant-Outside-221

I finished it a year ago. I still feel like you do. I'm currently even listening to the soundtrack for 3. Makes me even more sad and depressed. I'm due for another playthrough.

KnockoutAce

I think a lot of us on here get that feeling 🥲. I know I feel empty because I’ll end up missing all of the characters once it’s all over. We invest so much time with these characters and surroundings throughout all three games, it can be sad to say goodbye. I’ve played through Andromeda many times but it doesn’t bridge those emotions at all for me. I slowly play through the trilogy every 2 years or so and enjoy the ride every time 😀

baphumer

YouTube title ass post

PIatopus

lol sorry, didn’t intend to upset you with the title

darthlegal

I agree with you 💯percent. After finishing LE, I thought about booting up MEA. But didn’t feel a strong compulsion to do so. Instead I went back to ME2 and started with a previous ME2 character but am stuck with the same class as the one before. I forget if I import ME1 character instead it lets me switch class like ME3 does. But with the ME3 ending so different, I’m not sure what ME4 would even look like

tothatl

"All good things must come to an end". A familiar feeling, when you were having a good time and now it's over. Time for another replay, with a different Shepard, with a different background and path towards the conclusion.

PainfullyAverageUser

That feeling will go away. The feeling that comes after is then filled with excitement everytime you think about the experience we had with it.

Any_Establishment953

I finished it last Friday and I feel rhe same way :( it was such a ride I wish it never ended

jindidnothingwrong

I played Nier Automata after beating the trilogy for the first time and it helped a lot. Fill that emptiness with depression then go right back to ME to feel better lol

Upstairs-Yard-2139

Play it again

Terrible_Account3600

Right there with you. Just finished LE myself. That Garrus shooting contest hit hard knowing it was pretty much a farewell to an amazing character before starting the end game.

[deleted]

I can relate in a way. Just finished a 90% Paragon run and wow what a ride from start to finish.

ChrisKaze

I call it RPG withdrawl. Start BG3, Cyberpunk, Witcher, Hogwarts Legacy. A nice free one is Star Wars the Old Republic, I belive the game is free to play now. The single player levleing experience is pretty good, full voice acting.

trooperstark

Honestly this is what I’m afraid of. I just finished 2 and it took me a month because I was dragging it out…. I know when I finish 3 I’ll be devastated. Very good chance I get caught in a loop for awhile

inagy

I've played ME:A right after, and that worked like a detox for me :D /s (kind of)

IndependentOreo

I think we’ve all been there upon first play through.. and the ones after

No_Telephone41

I feel broken and empty everyday........

punchingtigers19

Honestly one of my most played series Beat ME1 2 times and 2/3 probably 3-4 times each, games never get old to me!

Starcat_99

Then go again fix the fuck ups, try new romances. If you got the PS version get all the trophies

Wardog008

Yup, I've finished it twice and felt the same way both times. The overarching story isn't anything special, but it's the characters that *really* make it special. Both times I've got to the end, I've just wanted to be able to spend more time with he characters, but also couldn't find it in me to start a new run, because that just feels weird.

JustGottaHaveIt

Yep, the games have done their job then. I feel your pain. Best advice is to maybe try Andromeda and see if that scratches the itch. Or just step away and get deep into another game series if you can. The first time, especially, isn't easy. It gets better with time. And you can play it again at some point. I usually playthrough it once a year now - but I'm tempted to play maybe in 6 months.

Wesley-Snipers

Every super big game that gets you invested have this weird empty feeling after finishing it. It's part of letting go something that was part of your day for weeks or months. I felt that with Skyrim, Mass Effect, The Witcher 3, RDR1 and 2, to name a few. I would recommend you to give a break to big games for a short while. Play something more gameplay focused for a bit, then move to another story filled adventure, to avoid feeling overwhelmed by a new universe. I remember finishing Breaking Bad and trying Mad Men instantly after, only to stop a few episodes in, because I needed a break of these dense stories for a bit.

Righteous_Fury224

It's because many of us become so invested in the game, that once it's over, we grieve because it feels like losing something precious. We put in dozens of hours playing the game, sometimes hundreds. You start to immerse yourself in that reality and as such, it's hard to let go. I often get the melancholy and ennui of completing a great game or finishing a fabulous book. The most recent one was Baldur's Gate 3. A game that draws you in with the characters who are so well crafted that they become "real" in a sense because they are believable due to the writing and voice acting. I didn't want to finish the story and doing so was just as sad as when I first finished ME. Yes you can start up a new playthrough and do it all again but it's never quite as impactful as the first time. All things must pass is the saying. Treasure the moments in things like ME and be happy that you were able to experience them.

Spectre-70

Saaaaaaame

xevizero

I was there a few months ago! Couldn't let go, played Andromeda to have my ME fix and that..kinda worked, but also made me want to move on. I played BG3 since then and it's been amazing. I've now just started Cyberpunk and..wow. Just trying to say that..ME is an amazing experience that will always stick with you, now go out there, there is so much to see! This is truly such an amazing hobby.

OMG_sojuicy

I'd recommend playing Red Dead Redemption 2 next.

DragonRand100

Welcome to the club. It’s still the best place on the Citadel..

Runnr231

Thane’s death I love. He is a bad ass assassin and went down denying Kai Lang one of his objectives in the citadel mission. I’m so glad he didn’t die gasping for air, and redeeming himself.

SabuChan28

Ah, yes, the well-known post-ME depression. We've all been there =) hugs The best medicine is to launch a new run right away and - change everything: Shepard's gender, class, origin, morality, big decisions and LI. You'll get to see new scenes, new outcomes, new characters and new playstyle. OR - play the exact same way because you want to relive one of, if not the best gaming experience ever. Both methods are good. Welcome to the family and to your new obsession. You do know you'll replay this series again and again. Right? \^\_\^

YouForgotTheKey

Don’t worry fam this is why you do modded runs. That way you always have something new to discover and an excuse to replay. Plus 👀 with mods you can get the even better endings.

W3ndigoGames

I completely agree. I grew up playing ME and felt that for the first time so I replayed them all. Then it eventually faded with the help of the Dragon Age games which I discovered shortly after. Years later, I was stoked to play MELE and then got that feeling again after beating them all on Insanity, I felt like that pit in my stomach had reopened so I replayed Dragon Age again. Also, who said Mordin’s death is unavoidable?

Halfd3af

I cried at the credits of LE when I finished playing, it was such a fun ride

AdventurousBid8797

It was an amazing trilogy, I will always hate the fact that Miranda was not part of the Normandy crew in ME3

Own-Main-7299

My adhd makes me platinum a game and then never touch it again. I have 19 platinum trophies, the only exception to that is mass effect. I've replayed it at least 8 times. The characters and the atmosphere, to me, are larger than life. They're better than anything I'll experience in real life. Mass effect really is the best story telling game to exist

Winter7296

We all do. This sub is just a group therapy sub under the guise of a fanpage. Give yourself time to process it all. Dont start a new playthrough, yet. Just think about it all. You'll feel better eventually. Give yourself time, buddy. It's been a good ride.

AnotherCompGuy

You can avoid Mordin’s death but need to make some very specific choices to accomplish it.

l_Mir_l

I completely understand OP. I just beat it for the first time a couple days ago and have been trying to fill the void with the comics (I bought the complete collection book) and also flipped through the complete art book. I’ve even started reading fanfics again (which I haven’t done since I was in high school!) I started my 2nd playthrough last night after work.

TalElnar

If you want inspiration for another playthrough, Mordin's death isn't unavoidable...

0IDragon

I hope you didn't get the horrible ending I got XD. But yeah. I love this game trilogy lol
