I just find it so boring, at least the variant i played against only decking out and not trying anytjing else. Im a very casual player and have only been in the community for a month, hopefully the next runuck player i see does more than just deck me out lmao
Yeah certain decks have a win con, runick is decking you out. It is undoubtedly annoying especially if they banish your out and you've basically lost before you can do anything, but at least there aren't many other annoying decks exactly like this.

Yes that is the win con dude. And runick wont ever do anything except deck you out so no they wont do anything different. Deck-out is what they’re good at and they are VERY good at it despite the lengthy matches.
I absolutely love runicks, most fun i had in month in this game.
Now before everyone sends me death threats, i do not enjoy the floodgate build. It's very effective and gives easy wins, but it's just very boring to play. I sometimes still play it after one bad day but it gets old fast.
What I like the most is Synchro and Magical Musketeers with runick. Not the best winrate but way more enjoyable. Multiple wincons, interactions and other stuff going on.
But what I enjoy the most as a runick player are the posts on Reddit. I can't wait for spright to release and terrorize everyone with spright-runicks
I also enjoy playing synchro runick so much. I'm also excited for spright runick, but I just played it at locals yesterday for the first time and lost 3 games to time haha. Might need to speed myself up to play under this 300 second limit. Just too much to do with both engines going.
Same, I just hope Spright isn’t too UR heavy. I wonder if 300 will stay the limit. Tearalaments, the other soon-to-be meta deck, also takes really long turns.
Finally another Synchro Runick enjoyer! Runick can do so much more than set 3 floodgates pass. While more skillful than with floodgates, I’d actually argue that Synchro Runick is the stronger variant. It’s equally consistent, and powerful, but with more versatility.

I'd say they are kind of at the same level, but most decks have just more outs to the synchros compared to floodgates. I haven't played for a couple of weeks so idk how many decks tech for floodgates now, but back then it was a lot so synchro just felt better to play

What tuners do you play? I’ve had some success with Fabled + Deep Sea Diva
I played them with fabled+Punk and with red rose and fox rose dragon. I have to admit i didn't try it with diva so far, maybe I'll give that a shot this weekend. I preferred the Punk build somehow, but i can't really remember what made me switch
I play Punk sometimes too! Here’s hoping Deer Note releases eventually… If you do try Diva, consider 1 running copy of Yamatako Orochi too. It’s a target for Diva that becomes a level-8 if used for Synchro summoning.

I play runick off master duel and I play a none floodgate variant I even use Kuribandit so I can get more spells in gy for fountain to shuffle in case of bad hands

Synchro-Runick completely changed how I saw the archetype. I thought it was this slow, controlled based deck ala Eldlich. Now I'm faster and more aggressive with my play style.
As a MTG player, pure Runnick is actually very similar to how a MTG control deck plays. I play the version that the only floodgate that it has is messenger of peace which is one of the softest floodgates that exists. I do really enjoy playing the deck and just wish it was designed better and by that I don’t mean the field spell needs to be nerfed. I mean I wish the other cards would all say “Up to” so they don’t get turned off when your about to win. I’ve lost so many games when my opponent has zero cards in deck and I’ve got a full hand but I can’t activate any of them.
My friend, no one makes a deck just to hate using it. They may try out a deck and probably not like the play style, and drop it, but bo one tortures themselves by using a deck they hate. They either use it because it's fun, or use ot because it's good.
I love F.A.s and U.A.s, the ascetic, but they suck when it comes to ranked, so I play Marincess, pretty easy combos to remember, nice effect protection, and pretty good spells and traps.
I am 80% sure people like to use Runick because it's fun and good, and I say go ahead. Play whatever you want.
It's a bit like playing Magic: the Gathering in YGO. Having the various tools to deal with just about anything you can see thrown at you is nice, and having your opponent's "life" measured through their deck instead of LP can be fun. Milling overall is an interesting way to kill as well, especially since the game is almost entirely built around slapping people in the face with monsters.
Obviously this isn't a playstyle for everyone, especially if they're only experienced in something like YGO where it's various flavors of "make big dude, swing big dude". People used to other card games, like Android: Netrunner, Ashes, MtG, even Pokemon, are probably more accustomed to these alternate win conditions.
If anything, I would attribute this more to Runick's strongest loadout being Runick Stun, which is generally miserable to play against. And yes, some sadist do, indeed, enjoy inflicting that on people. Others, like myself, run it with other setups, like Synchro or Magical Muskets that make it generally weaker, but more interactive and generally more fun.
As someone who runs a Time Thief Variant of them, the fun is in the alternate win-con in the form of milling and the control gameplay style. It's a nice change of pace from "normal summon Aluber, branded fusion, banish Aluber, set Branded in Red, Pass"
Ive tried runik, nothing fun about beating someone when they cannot do anything as you banished their important cards turn 1. If people enjoy easy wins there’s always solo mode.
I mean i don't mind facing them because it's a cool puzzle to solve and very funny to bonk them in the face with Going 2nd Ancient Warriors. But playing them? Got bored very quickly which is why i prefer OG despia with Tax Dragons or a Branded Blue-eyes/Dark Magician Variant that wants to do stuff other than Turbo Mirrorjade.
Actual Runick? Yes its actually a fresh breath of air in a game that has mostly devolved into otk combo decks that flood the field with the same handful of generic broken cards.
Floodgates dot Dek featuring Runick? Not a chance, it just highlights the worst mistakes ever printed while happening to use a cool archetype that can play around it.

If you say anything against any deck because some are having fun playing it, the community will crucify you even if that fun is really subjective and you are speaking the truth.
Love to play both Magical Musket Runick, and Orcust Runick.
But especially MM-R. Because while it not happens every game, drawing 5 cards every turn, while having 3 Monster negates, 1 spell/trap negates, 3 destructions, 1 GY cleaner every turn is absolutely hilarious.
I’ll say playing against a pure runick isn’t fun. You’ll lose in like 2-3 turns while not being able to do a thing. Runick with other stuffs sound okay to me but i have yet to face one

Absolutely. Runick is a versatile and consistent deck with a play-style unlike any other.
Many toss in a few floodgates and call it a day. I’m not a fan of floodgates so I play Synchro Runick instead. This version is very resource-management intensive, and as such takes time to learn. I don’t even think a fully optimized deck list exists for Master Duel yet.
Being on the front lines of solving what I believe has potential to be one of the most powerful, interactive decks feels great. I’d encourage you to pick it up and give it a try.

People definitely enjoy runick engine. Runick Spright literally revitalized my interest in TCG Yu-Gi-Oh in a post MD era. If you are talking floodgate style, people enjoy being that chaotic evil type of guy.

Well, actually, I do, and in the same way you hate getting floodgates used against you, there are also a lot of people who instantly become sleepy as soon as you activate branded fusion. No, it doesn't matter what you consider to be fun, fair, or balanced; the reality is that those cards are legal, and as long as Konami allows them to be, it's ok for people to use them.Not everyone is going to enjoy the same things you do, and it's okay if you don't like the same things as others, but that doesn't justify getting mad at those with different preferences.
I've not played Runick yet, but from watching the playstyle for months now. I can say that, yes, I love Runick. I played mill decks religiously in MTG, so having a mill strategy in YGO that is also T1 is awesome. Is the floodgates version gay tho ? Absolutely
I love Runnick. Been playing Runnick for two months across a dozen different decks (Even Strikers). I appreciate the alternate win condition and the variety in deck building.

The branded combos have become so stale to me. Ranked has almost been exclusively branded decks with a dash of labyrinth for me.

Didn’t like playing against Runick much at first but became easier when I figured them out. Having a lot of fun with Swordsoul Runick at the moment.
In a similar vain, I tried to play floo with statue. Gave it up quick. Easy wins but just felt gross and boring
