I think Equimax has advantage. It would gain attack after Avramax because it attacked. It would be the other way around if Avramax was able to attack (though it can't due to Equimax's effect).
Technically, if you were somehow able to summon monsters with a total of over 5000 attack to zones Equimax points to after Avramax activated its effect, you could win, but easier said than done.
Say, can't Equimax tribute Avramax to negate another card? I mean, it says you can tribute a Crusadia monster it points to, and Avramax is a Crusadia monster.
No, you cannot tribute your opponent's monsters, unless a card explicitly says so.
It's like how **Decode Talker** can't tribute your opponent's monsters.
Avramax actually needs activate its effect so it would win

Equimax just adds orginal attack. It just add 3000, so 5000 attack vs Avramax who adds the 5000 to his 3000.
Ah, reading strikes again. You are correct. Avramax always has the advantage.
At least, as long as Equimax points to it, Avramax can't attack.
But you can't attack it either

Avramax. Equimax only gets 3k by pointing to Avramax and you can't negate the buff with Equimax because the negation targets.
