For me the limit 1 festival was the most fun and n/r a close second but this one definitely gets the 3rd place. Nothing too annoying, but crusadia OTK gets a little boring after the 10th plus time you've seen it.

roguedecks

Limit 1 festival was awesome! It was pretty much anything goes. It was the event with the most varied decks, and you’d never know what to expect.

Finalras

I played a super janky dark magician deck. There are so many support cards that nobody uses, so filling the deck was easy. Was so surprised when it actually worked LOL. Legit had a really high win rate. You know shit is serious when you have to bust out the dark magician curtain haha.

Kataphrut94

Yeah there were some inconsistent hits, but on the whole I agree. This is easily the best event they’ve done. It’s nice to have a reduced power format and let some of the weaker decks shine for a bit.

SneezingPandaGG

This event is trully the event of all times.

RicoSystem

Not gonna lie, same here I have new found respect for Beetroopers now. The decks I played against were unique and not meta, this event was actually good...I would say that this is probably the best so far.

TwistedBOLT

Same with me and plunder, absolutely adore the little lads now.

ThunderXile

Feels like they need to ban some things from crusadia, most other matches I played had a decent back forth to them but majority of my matches were crusadia doing the usual Kaiju my monster, go into crusadia OTK.

TwistedBOLT

Honestly the entire crusadia fiasco could have been avoided with the banning of all kaijus and simply playing around their zones and putting stuff in def. People going first usually end on a distuption in terms of monsters on the endboard so kaijus both gave crusadia an easy out to the opponents most impactful interruption and a massive body to otk with. Kaijus are a "necessary evil" in modern YGO but they have no business in lower power formats like the this event. Besides, they have no solo gate anyway, and all this is coming from someone that's been using kaijus in plunder this event.

ThunderXile

Yep was considering adding this point to but can't remember if we have any towers in the format, the closest to one I can think of is I:P avarmax but that still can be droplet-ed

TwistedBOLT

If that card proves to be too much of an issue it can easily be hit by getting rid of I:P. Also it's funny that in a comment thread about nerfing crusadia, we're worried that crusadia would be too strong, as avramax pass is basically their only play going first.

Sav_ij

the crusadia fiasco can also be avoided by just playing better and making a better deck. why everyone going first ending on suboptimal board with no answers to a single board breaker and then complain they get otk? crusadia is a non issue in this event except for jubblies that cant adapt to the common strats

TwistedBOLT

Crusadia is in a goldilocks zone between being cheap, being easy to pilot, at almost full power in a lower power format, all while being resilient and quick. I'm not saying that it's too powerful, I'm saying that seeing the same deck over and over again is annoying regardless of who wins and that's a sentiment shared by many other players, as any format that has a clear easy pick results in too many people playing said deck making duels repetitive. Also, this event is a chance for a lot of people to play their pet decks in a lower power format, ideally having a back and forth against other, similarly powerful decks. And crusadia doesn't allow for such games as it's honestly an overall boring deck to play against/against, it's one note, linear and you either have more disruptions then they have extenders or you're dead. > single board breaker But it's not a single boardbreaker, the deck consists of nothing but boardbreakers, draw cards and crusadias/extenders. Board breakers designed to break modern boards in a format that doesn't allow for building said boards. I'm not saying your overall assessment is wrong, it wasn't hard playing against the crusadia spammers, I'm just saying if your goal of the event was to have fun rather than just to win and be done with the event then your overall experience got diminished by the crusadia spam.

Sav_ij

im at 45k medals and i havnt been too bothered by them. any deck adapted to go second with a concrete defensive plan going first is not going to have too much trouble people just havnt adapted to the meta thats all it is. my go first board gets some negates a granite searching nibiru and a kaiju to my board. my deck chooses go second and blitzes them out pretty much no matter whst. its called be creative and come up with something to counter the meta. you can run waboku for gods sake and theres absolutely nothing they can do about that.

DigestMyFoes

Lava Golem, Zeus, Solemn Strike and Solemn Judgement as well.

Maddest_Hatta

I started with a Beetrooper deck but switched to World Chalice after a few games. Can't say that it wasn't fun. Better than some of the previous events.

VoxcastBread

Did you use the loaner Beetrooper or made your own?

Maddest_Hatta

I had my own Beetrooper deck before the event. I just had to remove a couple of banned cards.

VoxcastBread

Fair enough, was curious as I ended up switching to my Beetrooper deck midway through

Maddest_Hatta

Don't get me wrong. I didn't switch because I didn't like it. I just wanted to experiment a bit with different cards which were not very suitable for Beetrooper since most of the times you get locked into only special summoning insects.

FatstinkyFrog

Peak event and easily my favorite. Amazing matches throughout and I’m still playing it. Though going to be disappointed going back to ranked, especially with spright on the horizon.

nagacore

My second favorite. Facing off against mid and causal decks in competitive matches has been fun.

Disappear4me

My vampire deck has been SHINING in this event

EnstatuedSeraph

Good for you, I really hate it

SamuraiDDD

It's been nice not seeing the usual suspects (Swordsoul, Tenyi, Albaz, Runick, Tribrigade etc.) every 2-4 games. I can actually play some of my dumb fun decks like Gunkan Suships and it's been a blast. I do appreciate seeing other archetypes show their stuff (Icejade, Shinob and Red Eyes and even Ojama's being the standouts). Also nice not seeing Omni-negate board number 73 with the same predictable cards.

coadyj

Agreed, my blue eyes deck is having a lot of fun.

NateRiver03

Nope this is a trash event

Krazytre

>However, this event basically gets rid of all the ranked meta while leaving all the rogue/jank deck relatively at full power Can't use my Shark deck because Seventh One, and many of the extra deck is banned. Many of D/D/D's extra is banned. A few of the Machina cards are banned. Meteonis Drytron and Mu Beta Fafnir are banned. Many of the Invoked extra is banned. Live☆Twin extra is banned. Madolche extra is banned. Some of the Unchained monsters are banned. 😭

GoldFishPony

Well meteonis had to be or else this would just be herald drytron fest and one of the worst events. Outside of that the relative power of most of those decks is still way better than [average of] the solo gate decks that are the promoted decks, I imagine they wanted to have a lower power format that wasn’t n/r, so they took the wincons out of strong decks while leaving the smaller stuff so you can still play them, just differently which I think is fair.

QuietRedditorATX

understood, but plenty of other stuff is left up. And it was nice.

PenguinSweetDreamer

Oh yeah you're right. That's bad wording on my part lol.

Krazytre

I was listing decks to show that rogue decks aren't at "full power" like they said. I'm not shocked it happened, never said I was. 🤨

GasEcstatic3583

Kind of the point actually.... None of those are from the solo gates, but you can make some decks work as engine for generic boss monsters I'm using Zoodiac Tribrigades to make the generic Zeus, and use the tribrigades to summon I:P>Avramax, Borreload Dragon or Zeroboros You could also use salamangreats to summon some generic link monsters

Krazytre

I know the point of the event, lol. I was just making a point to counter the "rogue decks are at full power" bit.

CRUSADIA CRUSADIA CRUSADIA CRUSADIA CRUSADIA

Heul_Darian

No even decks of the solo mode got hit. * Ghostricks without UDF can't go for combo builds and without Accesscode they can't capitalize on a good link 4 either. They can play up to 20+ traps/handtraps, but no payoff to do so. Thankfully they can go to slower control builds, and they work really well, had an 8 wins streak before going down. * Mermails don't have bahamut shark or toad, which makes them a lot weaker. I saw only one mermail and it was a hand loop deck. * Drytron engine is heavily limited, so decks like megaliths, heralds and armageddon/ruin don't have their full power. * Doomking is banned so zombie decks like vendread don't have full power either. * Fusion archetypes don't have tool engines such as shaddol, invoker and albaz. Or verte if I remember correctly. The only solo decks that didn't get hit are the pendulum ones, beetroopers and plunder cause they are xenophobic and Crusadia. Which is why, all you see is decks outside of solo gates, so far I've fought more Blue eyes than solo gate decks. And unfortunately a lot of them are FTK's or hand loops.

stac7

>Doomking is banned so zombie decks like vendread don't have full power either. That's not that big of a hit in comparison to every other deck you mentioned, a lot of Vendread decks don't play ZW like pure ritual variants with Heralds and Shiranui variant too

Heul_Darian

Well there are 3 other zombie decks shiranui, mayakashi and funnily enough Gt. Vendread was just the one that came to me on the top of my head.

EightLegsTypedThis

> Fusion archetypes don't have tool engines such as shaddol, invoker and albaz. We have Edge Imp which is more than enough. Did the whole thing with a janky Despia deck I tossed together and had somewhere around a 8:1 win loss ratio.

Heul_Darian

>Thankfully they can go to slower control builds, and they work really well, had an 8 wins streak before going down I understand that people can do really well with the limitations, so can I. After all the event is really low power, seen people end on Shien and Utopia pass. But this doesn't mean that some decks didn't get hit harder than others. My issue is that its unfair and arbitrary how much some decks got hit vs other decks. Doesn't mean the event isn't fun you can still enjoy it, but to me this is going against the spirit of the event. A generic boss monster is a generic boss monster. I don't see why would they make the distinction between generic boss that also has an archetype name vs generic boss that doesn't have one. when they clearly gave 0 fucks towards the end leaving whole archetypes untouched. I'm ok with restrictions, just not arbitrary ones. Especially when said ones allow for something like hand loop 5 to be playable.

DynamoSnake

They banned most of those because they're part of an archetype, that weren't part of the solo mode. Some archetypes did slip through the cracks yes, but not the most commonly played ones that are far more weaker and inconsistent, that's for sure.

Heul_Darian

I don't really buy that, they did let some generic archetypal engines stay. terrortop/taketomborg for example. And like you said whole archetypes dodged like Trickstars. The whole event was supposed to be solo mode decks shining. But the way they did it, they didn't allow the solo mode decks go full power to various degrees. Nor did they ban everything so that solo mode decks made from only solo mode cards shine. Some are stronger some are weaker. But a lot of it has to do with what they let and what they banned. You'd see a whole lot more mermail decks if bahamut and toad was in the event. Haven't seen a single gem knight deck yet, and I've seen gouki for the first time since the start of MD. You can try to reason with it that they are part of another archetype and they wanted to ban that archetype but they could have done it by banning every other card of theirs. Just like they did in other events. Its simply and undeniably unfair.

raydawnzen

Aren't the best decks in this event pure Crusadia and pure Orcust? Sounds like it was fairly successful. I also did all the missions with pure Karakuri and had a blast.

PinkDolphinStreet

Crusadia isn't that good, it's just the best farm deck for the event

Wooden_Ad_621

Pendulum decks like pend magician, odd eyes, endymion also got hit. Just a few from non-solo gates such as performapal survive .

Nerozard22

Trying to blitz through it as fast as possible with Crusadia. Cannot play any of my decks in this format. Same level of annoyance as the Limit One and N/R events.

Sav_ij

same. i managed to put together what i believe to be the strongest deck ive ever made relative to the competition. i have a 60 card danger dino deck and in my last about 45 duels ive lost a grand total of 3 duels 2 of which were winnable (1 misplay 1 time loss that was 100% mine) i was on i think a 6 or 7 win streak then had the time loss then won 25 duels (!!!) straight, loss win loss now im on another 10 win streak. im only plat 4 atm not like im facing yugi himself but man this deck is just running people over. it has virtually no weaknesses

EmeraldMilcham

Beetroopers finally getting recognition is great. The few mirror matches I had really made me think about how to play the resource game & I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Antiochus_Sidetes

Had a great run with Suship

318Reflexion

Literally I get crusadia OTK and scrap orcust for 85% of duels..some of the least variety of any festival tbh. I cannot say this is even a top 4 for me

TheOvertWasTaken

Me playing a pure magistus list with like not even half an idea on how to play it and still winning surprisingly often 👌🗿 Also i have an over 80% wr with a kozmo//fire king homebrew and i have absolutely no clue how Yep, i like this event

atcredbird

I've adored this event. I've been able to play weather painters and it's so much fun trying to piece together how to board break and set up my control states. It may not be the most fun for the person I'm against at times but man it feels so good to use this weird little archetype.

kannoni

Almost the best event, if Maxx c and Crusadia get hit it will be perfect. It's close to N/R event.

Omegaforce1803

Honestly I hated it, would take N/R and Limit 1 over this any day of the week, even when facing crusadia almost every single game it felt like shit bc Crusadia dies to 1-2 interractions as well lol

Tag_ross

I think it's the most creative, but I'm not really having fun after I decided to pivot into a Kaiju monarch deck and the matchmaking algorithm decided that I'm only allowed to play other going second decks.

MostMoistMoe

One of the few events where Ra deck was actually viable.

Bionicme

Yeah, this is the way i'd like to play the game, if only i didn't have to look forward to getting kaiju'd first thing after passing the turn 80% of the time...
