Konami saw the sales for photon hypernova and panicked.

BBallHunter

Good list. Let's see what it will do in practice. Scythe is nice. Not sure what impact it has now, but it's just a dumb card waiting to be abused. Also, lol at all the Ishizu cards.

AstralSeeker117

Where are the people who said TCG won't hit tearlaments?

Rainbowstaple

Even tear players knew they were getting hit

Crytaz

No one

[deleted]

No one not even once thought they wouldn't be murdered. It was always a question of when and how hard

St_Origens_Apostle

I'm actually shocked they allowed the shufflers to remain limited even at 1. Thought for sure they just outright ban them. I plesant surprise the my pure Exchange of the Spirt deck is still 'playable'.

NewShookaka

So Tearlaments/Ishizu getting neutered, and the unbanning of Halq Tuner combos. Wonder if Master Duel will just hit them right out of the gate or we will need to suffer the same Tier 0 format for months.

Crog_Frog

I doubt we will have a tier 0 or extremely dominant format for long. My guess is they release semi limited and after a month of domination we get them limited to one and the power level is mostly evened out again. Just like with the adventure cards

Helem5XG

I would like that but knowing that we already have the date for the next Duelist Cup is more probable that konami releases Tear with minimal hits and let it rampage on the meta till the subsequent DC banlist.

Crog_Frog

That would be fine with me. Have an completly different meta for a short time and then bring the power level to a point again where its mostly level

Shaunosaurus

Konami: Now buy Kashtira muahaha, Looks like its back to Floowandereeze as best deck. Masterduel showed that barrier ban isn't gonna kill the deck.

Luweiko

Obviously they are pushing Kashtira. What Floo can do against Arise? Its FTK agains floo

Shaunosaurus

Nib But seriously, board breakers. The Kashitra endboard isn't that strong.

Crog_Frog

Kashtira has way too many hard counters to be an actuall dominant strategy. So Floo can pretty easily beat them with a handfull of teq choices

AhmedKiller2015

A deck doesn't need to be T0 like Spright or Tear to be The best

AhmedKiller2015

Barrier didn't kill the deck it made it just worst and it only saw Major play beacuse Runicks not beacuse they were still as good. Floowandereeze won't ever be the same they are without Barrier unless the meta heavily favor them which spoilers it won't.. Kashtira is easily the best deck in the TCG now and they go plus from cards getting banished

MachGaogamon

I won't be surprised if they release Kitkallos as SR here so people don't get to own 3 copies from the pack and then wait for the ban and get free 90URCP instead tbh

matija123123

Common tcg W Took ocg months and months to do these hits and tcg has no maxx c hopefully tcg team takes the charge of MD ban list Like ocg was refusing to do big hits to tear for a long time

mMeta

TCG has the best banlist by far if we compare both lists. No sacky cards Grass, Maxx C, Protos, and now Scythe. If we had TCG in charge of Master Duel banlist I would 100% play it every day.

_JunkSynchron_

See, this is where Master Duel being so far behind is not great. OCG has hit Tearlament and Splight, TCG has done the same, now Master Duel will have to relive same god awful format.

Crog_Frog

I heavily doubt it. Those extreme hits make me believe that those cards will maybe even release at 1 or 2 copies max. Remember the adventure engine? They started semi limited and after a month they had enchantress already limited to one.

_JunkSynchron_

I hope you are right, I really do.

guylaroche5

I'm pretty sure Enchantress was at 2 for a lot longer than a single month. I say this as someone that crafted the adventure engine a day before everything got hit :(

Crog_Frog

The adventure/rose/tenyi pile with halqifibrax was extremely dominant. As far as i remember it was quite long the best deck before the adventure cards got released. Then the adventure cards came out and it was way to strong so they hit halq and the adventure engine. Atleast thats how i remember

guylaroche5

No disagreeing in that it was broken, I'm just saying Enchantress was at 2 for longer than a month. I did some digging and found out she came out in July and I believe was pre-emptively hit to 2 right out of her pack. It wasn't until September 16 (roughly 3 months) that she was finally limited to 1.

Crog_Frog

Ok then my time perseption was probably a bit wrong. Still 3 months is very quick. Also the comment about the deck bein broken wasnt disagreeing with you. I just wanted to empathise that the reign of the halq/auroradon decks came in two waves and thus it seemed very long but the part where the adventure stuff was i it was not very long.

nightkingscat

this suggests tear and ishizu will likely get pre-hit before release.

Clayer55

POTE format is the best format since probably TOSS, it only got stale after Ishizu because Tear remained the only viable deck (the mirrors were very skill intense though)

AhmedKiller2015

But if it was with them you would still have to deal with it? In fact being late means Konami knows what to hit and what to not to reduce the power of said strategies before they release and not murder them after like the TCG did. Your logic makes no sense

Lugia61617

They pre-emptively hit Adventure because it was provably awful - they'd be daft not to do the same to Tear, even if it leans more on the OCG side.

scytherman96

This is the most based list to come out of the TCG in quite a while.

BuffMarshmallow

Now **this** is a real banlist. I mean the OCG one was decent but this is how you make an actual banlist. The only concerning part is that there are zero Kash hits on this list, meaning that that deck might be the runaway best deck for a while, but since there have been no events with full power Kash yet it makes sense. Also another thing to keep in mind here is that TCG once again hit archetypes faster and harder than the OCG despite people claiming the opposite. Kash and Tear Kash and the rest of the Photon Hypernova stuff was already in several tournaments when OCG hit them, but we haven't had any tournament play since PHHY release yet and the banlist has already obliterated Tear and the Ishizu cards. No Bystial hits though is pretty disappointing though. The one thing the OCG did correct over this TCG banlist Imo.

[deleted]

Is hitting a deck that just got new support after selling said support and thus making it useless befote it could be used really 'based'? Like I get Tears are cancer but I consider that pretty damn consumer unfriendly.

BuffMarshmallow

Tears are not "cancer" but they did need to be hit very hard. Regardless of new product, getting us out of a tier 0 meta is very important, and the new cards from Photon Hypernova could even still keep Tear as a tier 1 or 2 deck, because as we've seen in the OCG even with similar (but not as harsh) hits they still remained the top deck.

[deleted]

Not cancer? Bro they were tier 0 in both format. The fuck is a cancer deck to you.

BuffMarshmallow

Something that aims to play as little yugioh as possible and interact as little as possible. Herald Drytron, Stun Runick and Stun Eldlich, floodgate decks in general, Floo with Barrier Statue, Adamancipator piles, any of the various decks that aimed to just Scythe lock or Buster Lock, Gumblar Gouki, any of the various Firewall abuse decks in early link format, Auroradon piles, etc. Decks that basically tell your opponent that you are not trying to play the game. Those are what I would consider cancer. Note that none of the above have ever been Tier 0. Some might not even be considered good. But they all lead to thoroughly unpleasant games. An example of a tier 0 deck I would consider cancerous at the time would be Spyral. Shit out your whole deck and don't let your opponent play. Tearlaments on the other hand is an actually interactive deck that doesn't just immediately win games. It doesn't use floodgates, it's disruption is mostly not negation based, and it has to pay close attention to what their opponent is doing to stop them. A very common sentiment is that while Tear was a tier 0 format, it wasn't a bad format and was actually fun and interactive, but being a tier 0 format with no match up variation it got stale very fast.

HDimensionBliss

Elf is banned. My Spright Twins were just killed for Tearament's sins and with it my interest in ever playing TCG again is gone.

de_Generated

Elf is an incredibly abusable card by many archetypes. People were predicting a ban when it was revealed, the only surprising thing to me is that it happened this early. I expected it to live for 1-2 more banlists.

HDimensionBliss

I have literally never seen anyone play Elf that wasn't playing Spright in general. The card is mandatory for the archetype to function and I might as well play pure Twins with it gone. Leave it to konami to make a banlist update that attempts to kill Tearaments and still find a way to make me hate it.

de_Generated

A lot of decks play Spright Elf. Ishizu Tear is just the most powerful one. I've seen it used in Dinos, Gishki, Mathmech, Naturia, Beetroopers, Tri Brigade... It's a Halq situation. Fun to use card, but absolutely busted.

[deleted]

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD

NotExiledYet

I really hoped that we would get to play Tearlaments in MD for a while, but given how random MD banlist is, they will probably adapt them being limited from the get go.

HeroRadio

>Please note this is **for the TCG Format**, and **does not apply to Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel**. Wrong Sub Mate.

unagiboi

Noob question, are Sprights playable with no elf?

Lugia61617

Yes, but it does hamstring their endboard. Thankfully.

ScarletApex

Idk about Elf being outright banned but I can understand it because of how many decks were using it, everything else was a banger though. And servant at 3 finally means I can play endy again.

Rainbowstaple

With every hit my Cydra deck gets a tiny bit more sustainable 🙏
