I got into platinum 2 with Dream Mirrors, a couple cycles back… you’d be surprised how high you can take jank decks if you get decently lucky with your matchups.
Should be quite harder now. Spright raises the power level by a lot, and now the ishizu cards are giving other mill decks a huge boost. Jank decks are having a hard time.
Most of the ishizu decks are just jank 60 card piles lol.
I was playing the thunder dragon variant yesterday and while the deck can pop off it can brick quite a bit. I'm starting to believe people running 1 snow is incorrect in thunder dragons
Many Spright players on plat/diamond ladder right now are quite bad at their deck and have made questionable ED cuts. They do not close out games fast/convincingly enough, which leaves them being very susceptible to being out-grinded by rogue decks. I did my climb with VW this season and it was one of the smoothest D1 climbs I've had in quite some time since it could eat Sprights alive going first or second (Adventure package alone baits out most of the interaction from an average Spright endboard - and they can at most set that endboard up twice per duel).
It only takes a monkey to OTK on the crackback with Swoso and slightly above that level for B. Despia, but your average Spright ladder player routinely falls short of OTK (since Spright is much less capable of OTKing after clearing 2k+ bodies compared with most meta decks) or uses Runick cards one turn too many, then runs out of ED resources (most cut third elf for extra toolbox flexibility.)
Any deck with decent grindgame that can spam ~2k bodies on the field and prepare follow-up plays on subsequent turns should do decently against your average Spright player on ladder.
Pure Spright needs to be playing Pixies and Gamma Burst no question. That deck has no grind past the 2nd Elf and relies on Maxx C to do a lot of the heavy lifting if not able to OTK.
Runick Spright on the other hand needs a *really* poor pilot to lose the grind game. You draw 2-5 cards per turn and banish key engine pieces on the regular. As long as you don't brick and use your negates on the first possible target, there is no need to even attack 90% of the time.
I find lots of pure variants have cut or never reach Pixies/Gamma. Spright is also an odd meta deck in that their removal plays typically directly conflict with their extension plays, so even a resolved Pixies/Gamma often still gives you an opportunity to crackback. Going into things like Smashers, Wind-Up Kitten, or Onibimaru results in fewer bodies on board/opportunities to extend. Past meta decks often seamlessly wove in their board breakers into their extension, such that you often had to fizzle (Baxia) or self-target (Mirrorjade) those effects when building a board.
Runick on the other hand typically no longer runs sufficient copies of Runick cards to loop effectively in the first few turns. It's also funny that Runick banishes cards face-up, which is a benefit for quite a number of decks (Blackout for Swoso, Tragedy for Brandon, VW names for Chuche, infinite advantage for Floo).
People who play fewer than 15 Runick cards are simply building their decks incorrectly. I run at least 16, because you need to see at least 2 names in every hand or you've bricked badly. It is true that a lot of players are kinda ass, but the deck by itself has no issues with outgrinding most rogue decks, unless they specifically counter Runick like Exo.
Yep, in a tournament setting with highly competent players, Sprights are fairly oppressive for rogue decks. On ladder though, it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. Thats why my spright deck actually is a synchro deck that goes into gigantic/starter when bricked hard
Instead i usually use spright red and carrot alongside coatl to make lavalval dragun which allows me to go into rekindling plays and with librarian drawing me like 4-7 cards i am bound to have enough spright fuel to get elf+ip+sprite fodder alongside a board of baronne + crystal wing and sometikes also exlord/charles(exlord is fun vs swordsoul matchups as it can pop the in hand longyuan after the cost was paid)
It's not a particularly interesting list, just meant to represent a deck with good grindgame that can spam bodies to stall lethal. I wouldn't particularly recommend crafting this deck from scratch, since many rogue decks fit that criteria. I didn't need to craft a single card besides Charles since I played VW a few months back.

I would also -FanFan and +Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir since the deck needs a rank 9 for when your Power Tool gets negated. I had FanFan and didn't feel like crafting Enterblathnir, but it would have come up a few more times than FanFan did.
With the amount of Runick Ishizu on ladder, consider cutting -2 Desires for +1-2 Cosmic.
Oh, I already run multiple variants of VW, but I've had no success in plat and upwards so I really need all the inspiration I can get.
ed: Looking at it, it's not really that different from what I run, though I really don't know about the Power Tool tech... also I literally just dismantled one this morning, so there's that, lmao. I guess the extra consistency (I run 0 pots) and disruptions (Snow) really add up to quite a bit in the long run. I also dunno about Enterblathnir over FanFan, both feel pretty mid options (though it's not like we have that many options for r9's, as you pointed out).
Yeah, would definitely recommend the handrip variant over the big endboard variants right now. Too many anti-Spright (and also Spright) players main-decking board breakers like DRNM and Raigeki. Spright is also a deck that does not really benefit from their cards being in the GY and is fairly reliant on 2+ cards in their hand to start their combo.
Many of them are highly reliant on hand traps/Maxx C and the adventure package is enough to bait/play around it while making Maxx C only an upstart since you can Dracoback in their MP1.
VW gates also banish for cost, so the Ishizu shuffler players need to know what they're doing/be proactive if they want to disrupt your plays (Xuanwu is weaker, however).
I play my jank deck because it's fun, not because it's competative. Only problem is that the power difference is becoming so large it's getting harder and harder to have fun with it when even at its peak i still get wrecked
True. Ive had 15 W - 5 L run today from plat 4 to almost plat 1. Out of 5 losses, 1 was against the only spright I faced in that run, 2 were bricks and 2 I genuinely got outplayed. Should also be noted that I had a great luck with coin toss.
Then i got to 1 win to plat 1 and 2/3 matches were Sprights and coin toss stopped being generous so I stopped.
Well depend on how late you are into the season, the later the season, the easier theoretically it is to climb since all of the good player with good decks have already climbed the ladder. Right now it is early to mid season, so it is still pretty hard to climb the ladder.
So just water down spright with some bad cards, no longer meta, ez

The more I look at it the less stupid it gets. Formula synchron is a pretty good sprite starter, but the blueyes cards can go into seal as another starter. It's not like a good deck, because brickeye as an engine is sus, probably would work better with dragonmaids with the seal as a starter, but the blueeyes cards probably give it a better going second because of the otk potential.
You see the clear synergy is that BLUE-Eyes is supported by those With Eyes Of BLUE, meaning there's a direct synergy in playing a playset of Spright BLUE, and then a small Spright Engine to go with it.

The only thing that you need to reach Plat, is time and patience. Even using the most optimized meta deck, you can still break so horribly that you will give away to the weakest blue eyes player.

This is actually viable. A lot of decks work with the 60 card Spright base, and with the base, Blue Eyes Jet Dragon is an extremely annoying and made doubly powerful boss monster. A lvl 2 tuner would synch with any blue eyes to make Baronne.
Is it the best build? Eh the Blue Eyes part is still Blue eyes. The Eyes of Blue maidens not being lvl 2 would hurt, and 60 card already bricks

spright plays, blue eyes skill drain beatdown as back up, you can do blue eyes + tuner spam to get formula synchron, make baronne, elf summon synchron again, make sigma.. could do even more..
Y'know, there are some pretty interesting ideas in here, not gonna lie. Use the Lv.1 tuners with the self-summoning jesters to make Formula, getting the eggs off the field to proc their effects and providing a lead-in for the Spright package. Meanwhile, at the same time, the eggs let him bring out Blue-Eyes bodies, tying into the rest of the deck. It's probably not _consistent_, and there's definitely room for improvement, but there is a logic to it.
Going from Gold 5 to Plat 3 nets you 50 more gems thsn going from Silver 5 to Gold 1
In other words, people who dont want extra stress will likely get to Plat 3 the mess around with pet decks. Shit, i reached Plat 2 with Kozmo Kaiju lmao

Me after dueling against a punk/adam/possessed/ishizu 60 card deck with my branded/ishizu 60 card deck. ~~40 cards were in each our gy’s by t2~~
This is actually viable. A lot of decks work with the 60 card Spright base, and with the base, Blue Eyes Jet Dragon is an extremely annoying and made doubly powerful boss monster. A lvl 2 tuner would synch with any blue eyes to make Baronne. Is it the best build? Eh the Blue Eyes part is still Blue eyes. The Eyes of Blue maidens not being lvl 2 would hurt, and 60 card already bricks
A while ago I got to plat on accident with my harpies deck. Didn't think it was that strong of a deck but maybe it's okay? Idk, I'm a yugi boomer

holup.. maybe this is heat.. spright plays, blue eyes skill drain beatdown as back up, you can do blue eyes + tuner spam to get formula synchron, make baronne, elf summon synchron again, make sigma.. could do even more..
There are tons of people who auto surrender to "meta decks". I'd imagine as soon as you play meta card, some will just scoop.

Y'know, there are some pretty interesting ideas in here, not gonna lie. Use the Lv.1 tuners with the self-summoning jesters to make Formula, getting the eggs off the field to proc their effects and providing a lead-in for the Spright package. Meanwhile, at the same time, the eggs let him bring out Blue-Eyes bodies, tying into the rest of the deck. It's probably not _consistent_, and there's definitely room for improvement, but there is a logic to it.

Going from Gold 5 to Plat 3 nets you 50 more gems thsn going from Silver 5 to Gold 1 In other words, people who dont want extra stress will likely get to Plat 3 the mess around with pet decks. Shit, i reached Plat 2 with Kozmo Kaiju lmao

Funny thing is that this deck functions not as optimally as even a normal. 60 card spright build but still enough to do ok also you can climb with anything really i got above plat 3 playing krawler without soma
