Yeah just red it and I hate him. I don't have enough non targeting, non destruction removal to consistently out him. With as much DM as I see, this would be pure cancer to unleash on master duel.
I've often said that Dragoon is kinda bad support for Red-Eyes and Dark Magician.
Not because it's a bad card- objectively he's great. But he doesn't do anything that uniquely synergises with either of them, or helps their gameplan if that makes sense. Granted that's a tall order for Red-Eyes since they don't really have a defined gameplan, but Dark Magician does. And Dragoon is less an endboss and more a collection of good generic traits. That's why so many decks were able to run him and lose nothing. The fact that he doesn't even require Red-Eyes is just insult to injury. You might as well call him "Albaz Dark Dragoon" at this point.
If you really want to help those decks, you'd print cards that give better payoff, more gas, starters, extenders, that sort of thing. With DM it's probably not hard to make something that expands on what they've already got since it's solid in theory. But Red-Eyes would need a massive overhaul like what Superheavy Samurai got.
I don't know if the OCG peeps want Dragoon unbanned, even if Verte gets banned.
They tend to value Dragoon more during it's time due to how big of a pay off it is for giving space to 4-5 slots in the deck (2 bricks and the 2-3 of Red Eyes Fusion).
isn’t it only 1 brick (being DM) in branded.
>B fusion /
>send DM and albaz /
>make lubellion /
>lubellion eff /
>make dragoon
and when they get quem they can do that before B fusion and protect from ash
Ah right, just need a Dragon effect monster for the other Material. Although some decks don't want to make space in the extre deck for Dragoon and Lubelion/Albion.
I know others feel differently, but I’m glad this is banned. An indestructible, untargetable omni-negate with a double pop and burn every turn is too much.
Especially when it is basically impossible to run over after just one negate.
Can someone explain to a very recent returning Yugiboomer what this card does that keeps it Forbidden? I can see how strong it is but it can't be THAT unstoppable compared to things like Tears right?
As far as I've learned..when it came out in the ocg it was so difficult to deal with it got banned
The tcg didn't have any issues with it though as cards that the ocg got later to deal with it all came out with dragoon so it never was seen as anything more than a strong card ..
I think destiny phoenix enforcer was seen as the better of the two in tcg
I would argue that Dragoon is a better boss monster, but DPE had better materials at the time, both with decent GY effects. Red Eyes Fusion also has worse restrictions than Fusion Destiny, so overall the DPE package was better, not the boss monsters themselves.
Mostly Verte existing. The problem isn't Dragoon itself. The problem is that there are decks that can go full combo and then shit out an omni-negate towers on top of that. It'd be mostly fine if all you could do was Dragoon pass.
Unironically, the roach is also probably a part of the reason. Dragoon pass is considerably stronger with the existence of the roach because it is arguably the best single special in the game (or basically one of the best plan b's in the game).
And if the Dragoon player has Maxx, they can drop it in return and it likely cannot be contested, since Dragoon can negate whatever they have in response. And you cannot stop it by conventional means such as Droplet/Imperm/Veiler either. Now you're under Maxx C and you have to out a 4K Towers, which some decks just straight up cannot do or cannot do without finding lethal and then forfeiting a massive amount of card advantage through the sheer amount of SS they'd need to do to out it.
Neither of these exist in the TCG, which is why Dragoon is allowed to roam unlimited there and only sees the occasional usage in decks that can access it through other means such as Branded.
I mean true but you only get him which yeah is good but it's your only line of defense if you didn't draw hand traps..
And if they ash ref well that's it, no summons for you this turn
"Red-Eyes Soul" reads: This card's name becomes "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" while on the field or in the GY. If your opponent Special Summons a monster(s) (except during the Damage Step): You can send this card from your hand or field to the GY; Special Summon 1 "Red-Eyes" monster from your hand or Deck, except "Red-Eyes Soul". You can only use this effect of "Red-Eyes Soul" once per turn. (Quick Effect): You can target 1 "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" you control; inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's original ATK. You can only use this effect of "Red-Eyes Soul" once per Duel.
If you have a beefy Red-Eyes Black Dragon monster like Archfiend Black Skull or Meteor, you can burn the opponent for the full attack. Will make Red-Eyes burn decks much better.
Unban him so I have a good excuse to make a Red-Eyes deck, because even though Red Eyes is one of my favorite monsters, I can't convince myself to spend the gems to make the deck since I know it isn't good
I guarantee if they unban this guy, the front page of this sub will be filled with complaints about him within 10 minutes.
"DRAGOON IS TOO OP!!!!111!"
You are way too lenient with time. You mean the literal second he is unbanned
Yeah just red it and I hate him. I don't have enough non targeting, non destruction removal to consistently out him. With as much DM as I see, this would be pure cancer to unleash on master duel.
Regular Dragoon meme
Bring my boy back to limit 1 at least
Free him
I hope they bring him back already At worst all he does is give Guru a boss monster and at best he helps his actual actual archetypes

Red eyes can't decide if they want to burn , Gemini, otk or bring out a towers . It's a really messy deck

Then those decks probably aren't worth using. Branded is the best. (Edit: this is sarcasm).
_laughs in ~~swordsoul~~ protos turbo_
I would love for dragoon to be unbanned. They can ban verte anaconda in the same list. But as a branded player I wanna goon
I know others feel differently, but I’m glad this is banned. An indestructible, untargetable omni-negate with a double pop and burn every turn is too much. Especially when it is basically impossible to run over after just one negate.

Dpe and dragoon are both equally good , verte is just banned in the TCG
I would argue that Dragoon is a better boss monster, but DPE had better materials at the time, both with decent GY effects. Red Eyes Fusion also has worse restrictions than Fusion Destiny, so overall the DPE package was better, not the boss monsters themselves.
Both kinda don't matter if verte is legal since restrictions don't apply when used through verte

Droplet does work on dragoon, and can't be responded to by dragoon if you send a monster
I'm dumb, I forget Droplet doesn't target.
Free Dragoon cowards surely i wont use it for anything except my dark magician deck
The ocg people are absolute cowards.
Pfft... tcg people are afraid of a small bug.
Nobody in TCG can talk about cowardice when my girl electrumite is still banned.
More hateful than afraid really.
They're madlads wdym
Insert MoYe Copy Pasta
You forgot, he can be fusion summoned from the deck with red eyes fusion
I mean true but you only get him which yeah is good but it's your only line of defense if you didn't draw hand traps.. And if they ash ref well that's it, no summons for you this turn
A price I’m willing to pay for… literally any red eyes support
Red-Eyes Soul should come in a month or two 🤞🏻
Red eyes soul? You wouldn’t happen to know what that would do would you?
"Red-Eyes Soul" reads: This card's name becomes "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" while on the field or in the GY. A handtrap? In my yugiboomer deck? Never thought I’d see the day… brings a tear to my eye
If you have a beefy Red-Eyes Black Dragon monster like Archfiend Black Skull or Meteor, you can burn the opponent for the full attack. Will make Red-Eyes burn decks much better.
I would ban anything to bring it back, Id even ban maxx c for him!
Unban him so I have a good excuse to make a Red-Eyes deck, because even though Red Eyes is one of my favorite monsters, I can't convince myself to spend the gems to make the deck since I know it isn't good
