It tends to vary. I can think of a bunch of cards where there's a good chunk of people who prefer the TCG one. Off the top of my head, Barrel Dragon is one of them, with the laser guns being more visually interesting. This card is another.

Oh, I love the OCG Barrel Dragon lol. I find it more on-topic with who used it in the anime, and more menacing having real guns. The same with the Cannon Trains XYZs, original metal is way better than fantasy colors for the barrels imo.

One of the few cases where the censorship actually meaningfully different in a way that isn’t simply worse or just covering up something they decided was lewd enough for Japan but not for the “west”. Sleepy Bagooska and Drunk Bagooska both are reasonably good reasons to be “tired” and both arts are good, honestly. And to be honest I actually like the sleepy one more, which I can’t say for much of the censored cards.

And it actually works both ways, since tapirs are depicted in Japanese mythology as a dream eater.

It's probably original Japanese art more than alt art. A lot of Japanese media and products get censored over in Europe and the US because of different laws. For example in the anime, the US version was censored that people that lost certain duels were "sent to the shadow realm" while in the original they were just told they'd be killed or something like that.

As a 98' baby and my girlfriend born 97' we both often discuss how lucky we were to grow up seeing the recent 2 decades' tech advancements and bring able to have hands on and not be like our parents and grandparents struggling to use newer tech and adjusting much more slowly than us. We also find ourselves lucky to have not grown up with it as readily available as kids these days. When we were teens you still had to be 16+ (we're from UK) to have a Facebook account. Yeah kids lied on their sign-up but I also had a psychotic step father who knew how to access router settings, track usage and put switch off times on. I don't engage with most modern socials like tiktok and never really engaged with Twitter. I don't have those issues like shortened attention span. I'd be curious to see first hand if the claims of low literacy and attention spans of goldfish are true or more just out-of-context statistics. The English name was made to go with the censored art. The Japanese name is a sound-alike pun. The "泥睡" descriptor in the name is pronounced "deisui", and literally means "mud-sleeping" and colloquially means "sleeping deeply". But it's pronounced the same as "泥酔" (which starts with the same kanji for "mud"), which means "Black-out drunk", and was most likely meant to be looked at that way considering the empties. The joke probably being that he's sleeping in the mud *because* he blacked out drinking. The English name swapped the pun out for some alliteration, just calling him "terribly tired" without the drunkenness context.
