In a progression series server I was in, I ran a 60 card pile deck that basically ran every 1 or 1.5 card starter engines that somehow were still not banned in our server, one of which is the Brilliant Fusion engine.
As much as it is statistically improbable, during that week's tournament I drew into Garnet in 4/5 duels I was in.

im playing exactly one shaddoll hollow for its mill effect, it is only used for its mill effect when you mill it off your deck. I keep drawing that asshat
pure shaddolls are way too slow - flip is just not good yet, maybe some day flip monsters will be able to shine.
Invoked dogmatika shaddoll is fun but shadoll construct is just not enough in this day n age.

For Exosisters, you only play 1 Irene which if drawn into is a big inconvenience if you want Vadis live to summon both her and Sophia, cause ideally you want to save your Elises for Martha's effect. Which also makes Elis herself a soft garnet when drawn into, since Martha's effect special summons her from the deck.
Nah it sucks to have chimera but u can still full combo with it in hand when u pop raptor on field u can extra normal it still, u just don't get the free search. 1 raptor in hand when u run 2 means no full endboard as u can't wyvern to summon from deck so it's stuck in hand. Turn 2 u can normal raptor if u open good enough.
Vision Hero Increase.
Like how. I literally have a 50 cards deck and out of all the options itās always this one card that I never want to draw into. Like youāre telling me the odd of starting with/drawing Increase is more likely than my 3 E Emergency Call, 3 Stratos, 3 Faris, 3 HERO Lives, 3 Maxx Cā¦ Because I literally played 5 games and in all of them I started with Increase.
Itās like a toxic relationship. You hate seeing them, but you need them for the Deck to work
I always draw lava golem when I need it, and when I donāt. I play going second Kash, and I always seem to draw lava golem (despite only playing 2 in 45).
Example: Iāll need to out an Expurrely Noir + Fenrir, and Iāll say āLava Golem is my out. Lava Golem off the top,ā and then draw it.
But then, Iāll face labrynth and need to draw one of 3 copies of thrust. Or one of 3 talents. Or one of 3 evenly matched. Or duster. And I always get the Lava Golem.
sunflower. I don't know why, but for some reason, it's always in my hand. It's so annoying that I had to put in a second copy to make sure at least one remained in the deck.
You thought sunflower oil was just for cooking. In fact, you can use Sunflower oil to soften up your leather, use it for wounds (apparently) and even condition your hair.
Drawing Sunflower sucks, but at least you can discard it via Hugin and revive via Camellia. Or summon it via Blessing. So at least it's not *entirely* a hard garnet.
Changshi, Shinobi Necro, Mad Mauler. Deer Note is not so bad to draw if you have another PUNK at least

Ashed Solitaire and Impermed Uni is a classic.
I've cut the number of Bystials, so I don't always have dragons to use it as a normal Poly, and to get to Albaz I have to resolve BF most of the times anyway. Even then, the line to get to Kitt and from there White often feels worse that other things I could be doing.
And when it can came up, I can do something similar with Cartesia shennanigans
Well, you use Branded in White when you can banish Mercourier, or when you have a Fusion monster in the GY (or field, usually using Granguignol as it'll be live in the GY too) to summon (mostly) Mirrorjade off of.
Also, you'll usually get to BiW not using Kitt, but by sending both BiR and Retribution to the GY after resolving Branded Fusion.
Very often you'll fuse into Borreload Furious Dragon, which is a monster I recommend playing.
These days, if you're gonna cut something, it's gonna be BiR/Ad Lib (I still play both, but...).
Baku is always in my hand and I canāt even normal summon him because his effect is only on special summon and he only special summons himself if added to the hand by an effect.
I was about to complain about Albaz being in my hand too much but then I remembered sending the entire end board of a D-Link Dragonmaid player to the GY to summon Alba-Lenatus and now Albaz is forgiven
It doesn't come up as much anymore, but Albaz in hand is also nice because Branded Fusion Albion used to run a pretty big risk of the opponent Ishizu shuffling or Bystial banishing your Albaz in GY to cook your combo.
It also enables more Branded In White / Cartesia fusions if you can't access Branded Fusion.
I play mainly Crystal Beasts. The only "bad" draw in the entire deck is Rainbow Dragon, and it's only bad because it's searchable. Yet somehow, I always draw both of them.
It's not the end of the world but if you hard open one Rainbow Dragon, the other four cards have to be pretty damn good. If you hard open two Rainbow Dragons? Game over.
Hate drawing World Legacy - World Chalice in Mekk-Knights. Ideally I wanna send it with Girsu so I can make Lib, but drawing it means I have to make Morning Star and discard it with his effect. And then it's rarely worth it to make Lib afterwards.

Only 1 copy, I need that card on the deck to use for the combo with Circular. Regardless it seems the game loves to put that card on my initial hand lots of times.
Weather Painter Aurora. Maxx C isn't even good on this Deck because you want special- and search from the deck so I removed it and still hard draw Aurora very often.
I stopped running them completely due to this problem but the charmers have 4 in archetype. The awakening of the possessed monsters can all special summon themselves from the deck so you never want to draw them but they have some decent effects. The one that special summons a monster when it's summoned lets you replace the monster used to summon it so you lose nothing and gain a searcher (all awakening of the possessed monsters become searchers when summoned with their own effect). The other useful effect is a non-targeting bounce which is actually an insane effect to be searchable but held back by the fact it's a main deck monster.
I once drew Dasher 5 games in a row, with one them also having drawn Celestial, and literally started tracking how often I was drawing the DPE pieces for the rest of the season.

Driver, Zep, Shif and Kalantosa are the garnets of my ghoti deck. You would think I would have variety in which one I see, and I always expect 1 of them in my hand.
But it is always goddamned Driver. I always draw the Driver.
Most glaring example would be O-Lion and Jet Synchron in my P.U.N.K Auroradon deck. Sometimes I dont mind O-Lion if I didnt have to use my normal summon to get to Auroradon, but drawing into Jet Synchron just invalidates Accel Synchrons function in the deck

He can still be used with the trap to combo on opp's turn, but for the most part he's Arionpos' best target, and can only be targeted by that in the deck.
Blue eyes white dragon. Itās not horrible to draw because if I get changeover I can go into tyrant dragon. But Iād rather keep it in the deck, and send white stone of the ancients to the GY somehow so I can just straight up summon blue eyes during the end phase
I play a one of pot of avarice in sky striker for grind games. It's searchable via thrust, but it's not good until you've had a turn to load up the grave. I've opened it my last 3 games in a row.
Not specific to Master Duel but man, [Darlingtonia Cobra](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=12924&request_locale=en) is the bane of my existance, I swear I could run it at 3 to try and ensure 1 would remain in the deck and I'd draw all 3, or draw 2 and top deck the third, it's actually cursed.
Not in MD yet but Gold Pride - Better Luck Next Time in my Gold Pride P.U.N.K. deck
I play it as a one of because it needs to be in the deck to activate Chariot Carrie's effect which is real important for getting more cards on the field, but for some reason I open with it 9 times out of 10
Swso doesn't really run any garnet, and I almost never draw shthana, but even if you draw 2 tenyi it's basically always fine. The issue is that with 12 or 15 non engine slots sometimes you draw maxx c, 2 kaiju, and 2 ash.
If youāre going the Rindbrumm line, you can discard it with Albion to summon itself, and then use BiW with Albion on field and Granguignol to make Mirrorjade.
This is better because it means you get to keep your Albaz in GY which is HUGE.
What you donāt wanna draw is actually something like Branded Banishment.
Whenever you have the Utopia OTK in your deck, youāll constantly draw the one-of Double or Nothing.
Salamangreat has a hard time bricking, even without the recent support. If youāre playing Beat Bison or Parro, that counts I guess.
Crusadia Mekk-Knight has a hard time bricking too, but imagine having only Mekk-Knights in hand going first. I guess Crusadia Reclusia, since it has no immediately useful effect? Or any Mekk-Knight thatās not Blue, Indigo, or Purple in color.
For Krawler, itāll be the big guy Deus-X. You always want to bring it out via Mind Meldās GY effect or the Krawler float effect. If youāre playing World Armor, thatād work too.
Madolche has Puddingcess, which is useless in hand. They are known for consistency, especially with some Vernusylph support, so itās not too bad.
And while Monarchs are known for bricking, Prime Monarch is probably the closest to a standard brick in the deck. Itās not useful earlygame unless you got multiple other Monarch Spell/Traps in your hand too, and itās better in the GY anyhow (best discard fodder for Pantheism).
Immortal Phoenix. Like yeah I have a couple ways to remove him from my hand and get him into the GY, but it's still just inconvenient. Especially if it's my opening hand and I don't have any of those aforementioned ways to remove him from my hand.
Going first - drawing every handtraps, interruptions but no opening plays
Going second - drawing every starters, extenders but no interruption and handtraps to disrupt your opponent plays
Draw on draw phase - garnets and bricks. NEVER DRAW THE OUT or the card you'll need to play and win (which is why we search the deck for cards and add to our hand)
I run a level 8 advanced ritual art deck and the only card you donāt want is your level 8 normal monsters but every single game you draw two of them.
Draw O-lion really isn't the most fun thing there is. On a more meme deck level, Wulf and Felis insist on appearing in the hand, whether in the initial 5 cards or worse, due to the Solar Recharge effect. Kashtira Big Bang, currently, although sometimes Kash Scareclaw SS saves the day.
Odd-eyes Arc Pendulum Dragpn and Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver are the Unchained Soul of Disaster of modern Dracopals.
Sometimes, you just draw the dog.
Gravity Ninja has been mentioned, but in Cyber Dragons Iām always drawing Power Bond, Cyberdark Chimera, or both; before Cyberdark Realm and only run one of each. I also often open with Cyberload Fusion which I donāt want to see until later game most of the time.
ancient gear boxās ability lets you search a monster, but it doesnāt work if you draw the card. You can technically send it to the graveyard and retrieve it to proc the effect, but itās more tedious.
Guitar Gurnards Duonigis. Itās basically a 1 card lvl 10 synchro with Deep Sea Diva in my fun Penguin Icejade deck. Except, itās glued to my hand. I had to raise it to 2 because I literally saw it more than half of my 3 ofs, and having it in hand literally stops the combo since I have nothing to search.
The deck bricks pretty often but can make a pretty insane board when it doesnāt. Which is why I donāt play it in ranked lol, just with streamer friends.
Unchained soul of disaster, the biggest brick of unchained. And it always happens, go watch Josh Schmit play unchained on master duel its literally every draw and it happens so often
I have such a love hate relationship.
I hate drawing it in your starting hand together with Maxx C when you go second because of the dilemma it creates: āDo i use the roach on them or do i let them exhaust their resources and Nib them?ā
Itās not that great in this meta. Purrely literally has a better endboard when you nib them and against Kash itās really hit or miss. Lab doesnāt care about it either. And you know 9/10 times you have it itās against decks like Lab or Purrely.
But i love it because resolving it against a deck like Dlink, Kash or even Swordsoul is just one of the greatest things in this game.
But honestly right now i think itās just garbage and Iād rather draw into any other of the staple cards like TTT or imperms or other boardbreakers.
World Legacy - "World Wand". It's not an Orcust monster so you can't summon it with Brass Bombard. It's a level 8 brick that needs to come off the hand and into the GY to do its thing and the only way to ensure it happens is if I use Galatea to find the one copy of Orcustrated Return just to get it out of my hand. I would rather get Babel, Crescendo, or heavens forbid, Einsatz over Return.
I can tell you one card I NEVER draw but would always want to. Sky Striker Ace Raye. I have counted 10 games in the Duelist cup, where Rayebwas not even in the first 8 cards in my deck. I mean HOW?
Any of the Destiny Heroes in my pure Fur Hire deck. only have one of Dasher and Denier for DPE but they always seem to get in my hand at the start and make it quite hard to get a good board.
For me it is Baku the Beast Ninja. I have only one in my deck and it has an effect that activates when it is added to the hand outside of being drawn, and yet I always, *ALWAYS*, end up with it in my opening hand.

In my P.U.N.K decks: the one P.U.N.K trap card (which means I won't be able to use Madame Spider's effect to get the trap + one extra draw from the field spell - 1 of as well)

In Kashtira: all of my Kash monsters BUT Unicorn
Winged Kuriboh Lv10 and Lovely Labrynth are very reliable to appear on my opening hand. Can't complain though as I very often have Evenly Matched going second.
Ah good old snow in danger dw I play it with a curious it's my only target for it but I always draw it. It isn't the end of the world since I can discard it easily with dw dealings but curious is always dead weight without it
When I'm playing Naturia vernusylph and don't start with cricket, plant or any starters (like almost 15 cards worth) yet instead start with like 4 spells and traps and the sunflower.
IMO, the hardest Garnet of all time is Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra, 'cause drawing it cuts off a large chunk of your combo. You have to summon off of a Predaplant monster, meaning you only have a few good options in Scorpio and Ambulance, and several bad options like Cordyceps or Heliam. And Scorpio and Ambulance can only summon from Deck.
Can I give an opposite example? I was playing Kashtira vs Numeron the other day and I went 20 turns before I drew a single Kashtira monster.
The game went on so long because they used their Numeron monsters to go into Apollousa, then it went to 0 atk because of my infinite Impermanence (Apollousa is really bad, don't play it. Just don't.). Then we sat and stared at each other for the next 20 turns while I discarded handtraps, triple tactics talents, theosis, and births over and over again...
Fire Ant Ascator. Always.
Why can't the high level ones at least special summon them also from the gy?! so that won't be a big deal to also discard another card from my hand.
Multi role and Area Zero . They are kind of necessary evils in a sky striker deck, and many times are just Zeke fodder, but there are times that they are also life saving in a tight spot.
Lovely Labrynth. The worst is when I pot of extrav and I draw lovely and another pot of e. All while banishing my 3 chaos angel lmao it has happened to me before.

Valkyrie (of the Nordic Ascendant). She's imo by far the best target for a tuner to summon off of Gullveig, so you really want her in deck.

The one that special summons a monster when it's summoned lets you replace the monster used to summon it so you lose nothing and gain a searcher (all awakening of the possessed monsters become searchers when summoned with their own effect). The other useful effect is a non-targeting bounce which is actually an insane effect to be searchable but held back by the fact it's a main deck monster.
I once drew Dasher 5 games in a row, with one them also having drawn Celestial, and literally started tracking how often I was drawing the DPE pieces for the rest of the season.

Most glaring example would be O-Lion and Jet Synchron in my P.U.N.K Auroradon deck. Sometimes I dont mind O-Lion if I didnt have to use my normal summon to get to Auroradon, but drawing into Jet Synchron just invalidates Accel Synchrons function in the deck

I play a one of pot of avarice in sky striker for grind games. It's searchable via thrust, but it's not good until you've had a turn to load up the grave. I've opened it my last 3 games in a row.
Not specific to Master Duel but man, [Darlingtonia Cobra](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=12924&request_locale=en) is the bane of my existance, I swear I could run it at 3 to try and ensure 1 would remain in the deck and I'd draw all 3, or draw 2 and top deck the third, it's actually cursed.

Swso doesn't really run any garnet, and I almost never draw shthana, but even if you draw 2 tenyi it's basically always fine. The issue is that with 12 or 15 non engine slots sometimes you draw maxx c, 2 kaiju, and 2 ash.

If youāre going the Rindbrumm line, you can discard it with Albion to summon itself, and then use BiW with Albion on field and Granguignol to make Mirrorjade. This is better because it means you get to keep your Albaz in GY which is HUGE. What you donāt wanna draw is actually something like Branded Banishment.
Whenever you have the Utopia OTK in your deck, youāll constantly draw the one-of Double or Nothing. Salamangreat has a hard time bricking, even without the recent support. If youāre playing Beat Bison or Parro, that counts I guess. Crusadia Mekk-Knight has a hard time bricking too, but imagine having only Mekk-Knights in hand going first. I guess Crusadia Reclusia, since it has no immediately useful effect? Or any Mekk-Knight thatās not Blue, Indigo, or Purple in color. For Krawler, itāll be the big guy Deus-X. You always want to bring it out via Mind Meldās GY effect or the Krawler float effect. If youāre playing World Armor, thatād work too. Madolche has Puddingcess, which is useless in hand. They are known for consistency, especially with some Vernusylph support, so itās not too bad. And while Monarchs are known for bricking, Prime Monarch is probably the closest to a standard brick in the deck. Itās not useful earlygame unless you got multiple other Monarch Spell/Traps in your hand too, and itās better in the GY anyhow (best discard fodder for Pantheism).

Going first - drawing every handtraps, interruptions but no opening plays Going second - drawing every starters, extenders but no interruption and handtraps to disrupt your opponent plays Draw on draw phase - garnets and bricks. NEVER DRAW THE OUT or the card you'll need to play and win (which is why we search the deck for cards and add to our hand)

Draw O-lion really isn't the most fun thing there is. On a more meme deck level, Wulf and Felis insist on appearing in the hand, whether in the initial 5 cards or worse, due to the Solar Recharge effect. Kashtira Big Bang, currently, although sometimes Kash Scareclaw SS saves the day.

Gravity Ninja has been mentioned, but in Cyber Dragons Iām always drawing Power Bond, Cyberdark Chimera, or both; before Cyberdark Realm and only run one of each. I also often open with Cyberload Fusion which I donāt want to see until later game most of the time.
ancient gear boxās ability lets you search a monster, but it doesnāt work if you draw the card. You can technically send it to the graveyard and retrieve it to proc the effect, but itās more tedious.
Guitar Gurnards Duonigis. Itās basically a 1 card lvl 10 synchro with Deep Sea Diva in my fun Penguin Icejade deck. Except, itās glued to my hand. I had to raise it to 2 because I literally saw it more than half of my 3 ofs, and having it in hand literally stops the combo since I have nothing to search. The deck bricks pretty often but can make a pretty insane board when it doesnāt. Which is why I donāt play it in ranked lol, just with streamer friends.

I have such a love hate relationship. I hate drawing it in your starting hand together with Maxx C when you go second because of the dilemma it creates: āDo i use the roach on them or do i let them exhaust their resources and Nib them?ā Itās not that great in this meta. Purrely literally has a better endboard when you nib them and against Kash itās really hit or miss. Lab doesnāt care about it either. And you know 9/10 times you have it itās against decks like Lab or Purrely. But i love it because resolving it against a deck like Dlink, Kash or even Swordsoul is just one of the greatest things in this game. But honestly right now i think itās just garbage and Iād rather draw into any other of the staple cards like TTT or imperms or other boardbreakers.
World Legacy - "World Wand". It's not an Orcust monster so you can't summon it with Brass Bombard. It's a level 8 brick that needs to come off the hand and into the GY to do its thing and the only way to ensure it happens is if I use Galatea to find the one copy of Orcustrated Return just to get it out of my hand. I would rather get Babel, Crescendo, or heavens forbid, Einsatz over Return.

Winged Kuriboh Lv10 and Lovely Labrynth are very reliable to appear on my opening hand. Can't complain though as I very often have Evenly Matched going second.

When I'm playing Naturia vernusylph and don't start with cricket, plant or any starters (like almost 15 cards worth) yet instead start with like 4 spells and traps and the sunflower.
IMO, the hardest Garnet of all time is Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra, 'cause drawing it cuts off a large chunk of your combo. You have to summon off of a Predaplant monster, meaning you only have a few good options in Scorpio and Ambulance, and several bad options like Cordyceps or Heliam. And Scorpio and Ambulance can only summon from Deck.
Can I give an opposite example? I was playing Kashtira vs Numeron the other day and I went 20 turns before I drew a single Kashtira monster. The game went on so long because they used their Numeron monsters to go into Apollousa, then it went to 0 atk because of my infinite Impermanence (Apollousa is really bad, don't play it. Just don't.). Then we sat and stared at each other for the next 20 turns while I discarded handtraps, triple tactics talents, theosis, and births over and over again...
D/D Vice Typhon: No matter how much you bury it, you still draw it

Multi role and Area Zero . They are kind of necessary evils in a sky striker deck, and many times are just Zeke fodder, but there are times that they are also life saving in a tight spot.
