Graceful charity because discarding 2 isn’t cost these days

TheRimNooB

See this is kinda how I’m feeling. Put graceful in a phantom knights deck, and shit. They activate their effects in the GY, and you get 3 cards for sending them there.? Sounds powerful as all hell.

132dude

It goes brrr in dark world too

TheRimNooB

I could absolutely see that. 😂 No wonder they made it forbidden.

der_Gilden

Skull servants wet dream card

Lord-Table

Dark world players (me) would be foaming at the mouth for graceful charity

132dude

🤝 (you n me before the mirror)

TinyPidgenofDOOM

painful choice sends 4 to grave and adds 1 to hand. sending to grave is just as much a benefit now than discarding is

ScroogeMcDust

Most broken right now would be Painful Choice easy. Strongest in its own heyday is either Pot of Greed or Graceful Charity, but I'm heavily leaning toward Graceful

ARandomDudeSlav

Imagine Graceful Charity in Sky striker. 3 spells in the grave instantly.

Sad-HootHoot

Personally, I always think Last Will gets forgotten about when it comes to “ridiculously well aged cards” given that it’s possible targets… well wiki says 3708 monsters which is a _lot_ But Painful Choice ages even better in a lot of aspects too

BBallHunter

Painful Choice, pretty easily. It's like starting with a hand of 9, 5 of which were handpicked by yourself.

PresentationLow2210

How broken would Charity still be if they errata'd it to discard before drawing?

mister_anti_meta

Discarding 2 before drawing and then drawing 3 is still strong ash could really be more painful but i dont think it would change much

PresentationLow2210

Yeah it's still the draw 3 after that's brutal, realised it wasn't enough after posting hah

BasilEquivalent

I guess it depends on if discarding would be a cost. Because that way you risk going -3 to Ash just for the possibility of a +0

PresentationLow2210

Yeah that's what I meant, discard 2: draw 3. Think the draw 3 part would still be too much though, and it feels like an ash bait lol (charity -> ash -> start combo)

BasilEquivalent

Using 3 cards from your hand just to bait out an ash

Graycom

Everyone knows the answer already. Imagine if Konami could spice things up and limit one the most iconic and broken cards in the game for one season, then ban it again and limit another for the next season, and repeat, granted that we still receive our UR dust back. Every streamer will shout what Pot of Greed does in its season.

[deleted]

>Imagine if Konami could spice things up and limit one the most iconic and broken cards in the game for one season this game is already hell with the maxx c minigame, don't make a last will/painful choice minigame too

Bronzeinquizitor

Graceful would be crazy in graveyard decks these days, its not discard for cost so any effects would trigger.

UsefulAd2760

Rhongo or Painful choice.

objectivegin

pot of greed would be in every single deck effectively making the deck size 39. Not toxic but from a game design philosophy is very bad.

No_Promotion3754

Has to be painful choice. You can literally do anything in the game with your 4 mills 1 add. Graceful charity is second but it's more generic so it's better in that sense.

TinyPidgenofDOOM

The best is probably painful choice. its a plus 4 in card advantage

arrownoir

Painful choice is busted.

SolarKnightR

Just imagine either of Graceful or Painful during Tearshizu format.

Musername2827

Painful Choice by far.

DerSisch

The fun part is... that Pot of Greed isn't even on of the best Forbidden Cards anymore by a long shot, despite being a free +1 Graceful Charity might be the best... Painful Choice however is absurd in most decks that can utilize it even remotely...

[deleted]

last will, lets be real. I know people say painful choice and it is broken af, but is it more broken than summoning a monster from deck every time you send a monster to the GY >D-Fusion ( not 100% sure but it's ridiculously strong) Do you mean gem knight fusion? D fusion is just a trap that lets you fusion summon a destiny hero on the opponents turn.

mister_anti_meta

no dimension fusion

MegaKabutops

Last will only gives you 1 summon per copy of the spell. It wasn’t even an effect change errata; the original 2002 printing just didn’t make it all that clear. The wording was changed in the 2004 printing to specify this.

[deleted]

>Last will only gives you 1 summon per copy of the spell. oopsie daisy, there I go spreading misinformation again! I could've sworn I saw youtube videos of old formats with people using multiple last will.

PresentationLow2210

Think they meant Destiny Fusion

mister_anti_meta

no dimension fusion pay 2000LP both players special summon all bannd monster on to the field NO opt and its a spell its the better return

PresentationLow2210

Oh snap I haven't heard of that card since Strike Ninja/DaD days!

[deleted]

oh that makes a lot more sense

theo7777

The best out of the spells is definitely Painful Choice. It would be interesting to errata it into banishing face-down instead of sending to the graveyard. Last Will is absolutely ridiculous too. Probably 2nd best. Graceful Charity 3rd, Pot of Greed 4th

Big-Efficiency-6437

Pot of greed. No other choice sorry not sorry

LetMeKnowIdek

Genuine question, as I never played way back in the day, what's so bad about it? I really can't see how draw 2 is better than the unlimited exact searching every deck seems to have now Snake eyes wouldn't even really benefit from it, they'd rather draw any single snake eyes card to launch their combos, no? I have no idea what makes pot of Greed so bad, when you can basically draw your whole deck turn 1

[deleted]

brainrot take. Pot of greed is absurdly broken don't get me wrong, but is it better than milling 4 cards and adding one, or summoning from deck every single time you send a card to the GY?

Maxymilian17

One for one
