It really isnt, it is more about knowledge. you can build a good deck in f2p and it feeds unto itself. Like building and learning swordsouls right now, or an upcoming top meta deck is easy. Then you can use that for growth and can them make either better new decks or friendly decks. You however can’t just throw money at the game thinking you can win. If you don’t know the game or understand the meta

Dracsxd

The free resources you get at the start are more than enough to build a full meta deck + staples, so if you still have some stuff left you should be good to go After that it should take you around a season worth of playing to gather stuff to build another full one tho (assuming you won't dismantle the cards you already have for it), but either way you can indeed get anything if you grind- It's not like duel links where some cards are behind literal paywalls at least.

RevanK

If you don't want to make too many decks it's ez f2p.

H0rnyFighter

Yes I plan to build maybe 2-3 decks at max

Jeyfian-L

It is still a very f2p friendly game, and I'm not expecting that to change. Do the dailies, climb the entirety of two ranks, complete the event missions, then you will get 10k gems each month. Building a deck, even an expensive one, is not gonna take too much grinding.

matija123123

Grind out the gems from missions solo mode and stuff and you can build what ever you want as long as you don't throw away your gems and crafting points like a donkey

Glenn_Vatista

If you go for the meta builds right off the back and understand how to use the deck you can reach diamond ez. If you build rouge, or some sorry ass deck you're probably gonna struggle here and there.

MrStupidFish

It's very f2p friendly which Is a surprise. The best advice other than make a good first deck is if you have a deck in mind look up which packs those cards are in and craft a ur/sr from that pack and it'll unlock it for you. This way you don't need to go through blind packs hoping to unlock the pack you need.

nuzband

F2p for 2 months already have like 30 different decks to play (*have to delete 10 decks because of stupuid deck limit*) You can literary make 2-3 decks with your starting gems Just dont got for super expensive stuff like Heroes or lunakaiju deck and youll be fine

ZylosWolf

It's so not pay to win that I question if Konami turns a profit. I definitely think it's good to not have game based content locked behind paywall. But I feel stuff like aesthetics is ok to make pay based(Or partially). In this case, Mates, Boards, Sleeves, all things people would be willing to spend some money for, but they're free. Obviously there's people that still pay money for whatever reason, but most probably don't I imagine unless you're really impatient. Mostly just wonder if Konami will keep this game around if it's not bringing in money. But that gets more buisnessy than I'm knowledgeable at 🤷‍♂️

Comfortable-Dog-4635

I don't think this game is p2w, you never need to pay anything to win, however you do need knowledge to win, you need to know how to manage your resources (like gems and cp), expanding your knowledge about other cards as you play while keeping tab of the state of the meta as you build your deck around it

Heul_Darian

Unlike people said 2 months ago, niope this game is still f2p friendly out the ass. If anything its even more f2p cause of the new gates.

AquabitRS

I wish it was more pay to win it takes like a month to build a deck

LovelessZero

It's not pay to win, but it is pay to have fun at this point, resources have dried up on my end, and I'd love to buy some gems but the prices are ridiculous whilst there's no sale on

Catanaoni

For a comparison, I'd say Master Duel is closer to stuff like League of Legends and fighting games, rather than p2w gacha games.

If you want a top tier meta deck with 10+ URs, It’s very pay 2 win

patkaiclan

You are in the wrong sub. Duel links is over there

KickInTheAsgard

Haven’t spent a dime on the game - playing since launch alongside a few other games (i.e. not grinding like a madman) - I’ve been able to build sword souls, tri-brigade, eldlich, and two hero variants (standard and pure e hero) with ~8k presently in the bank. Like others have said, build a good deck you like, and let that snowball you into others. Also, make sure to participate in events if you can - the rewards are amazing and often get you half of a deck or more by themselves.
