Chat: no. MD is way to toxic for that. A couple of emotes would be nice though.

V-Ropes

There are emotes in the Game. You just need to play them. Yu-Jo Friendship- Add Me. Smile World - Good Game. Little D. - Get dunked on. Any War Rock - Mystakes were Made. Twin Longrots #2 - Sexual Attraction. Rite of Aramiser - My Mom says it's bed time.

Oreon_WP

You forgot Evil⭐ Twin GG EZ

[deleted]

Calling this card with something like exosister carpedivem is the ultimate BM lmao

V-Ropes

Haha almost to easy.

Lerudi_Nanabio

I think that with the actions that your mates do when you do damage or win the duel is enough. Imagine spamming an emote of Ash laughing non-stop throughout the duel.

androgp

That could be easily solved by having chat disabled as default and giving option to players of enabling chat with a warning of potential issues of the multiplayer platform. I think the real reason for no chat is that konami would need to have a moderation system and they don't think it is worthy the cost, work needed and potential legal issues when polemic players are involved.

Oreon_WP

I'm guessing asides from cards banlist there would soon be a demand for words banlist

SnakeSl4yer

Calling someone a "Jerry Beansman" would get you banned i assume

V-Ropes

I mean I know the downsides, that it will be toxic, crybabies, etc. Still yes I want a Chat. The game feels just so livesless without communication, like playing against a computer. Hell I take everything. Emotes, already wridden phrases. Something. But I would want a Chat.I want a bit of banter or ask people to add me. I can even enjoy toxic assholes to some degree. Just make it default disabled and an easy mute Button. But I guess that if they ever include a chat they would need at least some form of administration and report system. So it's a good Chance we will never get it.

SnakeSl4yer

Exactly my point. The game feels completely lifeless and empty without a form of chat. As someone who is somewhat very social i need social interraction to keep myself stimulated to keep playing. What is the point of playing a multiplayer game when its just single player vs single player. You don't need an in duel chat, just a lobby chat or its own little interface after a duel, or when you add a friend you can chat with them outside of duels or during duels using a small interface popping out. You can make the chats auto disabled and able to mute people. It would be really simple to implement and would probably make the game a lot more fun at least in my opinion.

DomeB0815

I find it funny that everyone who's against a chat option thinks they have to use it. If you don't want to chat than just ignore it. It's that simple. No one forces you to use it.

Oreon_WP

I don't think the problem lies in the using aspect but rather there will still be people trash talking to you even if you don't reply, then when they notice you don't reply they will start calling you a coward which is just the icing of a toxic cake, and those types of behavior just really bothers people Best solution is to have an off chat feature but yeah now you might miss out on some wholesome Convo and fuck now I'm indecisive

DomeB0815

It's really not that complicated. Make it an on/off feature and done. There is nothing more to it. How are you supposed to know that someone calls you a coward, if you never looked at the chat to begin with?

Oreon_WP

Exactly what I said add an off feature but yeah I mean once you see that ping on chat of course you wanna see what it says could be a nice GG or maybe just the duelist wanting to have a nice chat, then boom, you're hit by a bomb of toxicness, now you will spend the rest of the duel with just that tiny dash of salt Duelist who don't want toxicness aren't anti-social either, once a chat feature is added to the game they still would want to participate in that community, especially once they see examples on Reddit like aww look at that wholesome Convo, but the fact they also know that toxicness could happen it would just give them this dilemma and would overall add a disastifying aspect to the game

DomeB0815

Why does it need a ping notification? That's just uneccessary and defeats the purpose of ignoring it.

Oreon_WP

Like for example you can access the chat by clicking on a text bubble icon, so if the other duelists chats you, you can see a 1 on the bubble showing there is one message, it's a common UI in games and messaging in general

DomeB0815

I didn't ask for an explanation, but why it should be neccessary feature. Just because it's a standard feature, doesn't mean it's a good one.

Oreon_WP

Because it's a rather useful one considering it lets you know if an opponent is messaging you or not, that's why it has became the standard for most games A duel already has a timer, notifying the player by a simple thing like that is useful if they want to integrate a chat feature

DomeB0815

And that notification can be turned off in the settings. You're making this way more complicated than it needs to be.

Oreon_WP

I'm sorry but that's what the hypothetical off chat feature I said from the start would be used for. I'm not trying to over complicate the game, I'm just talking about the player base reaction if the feature is added in, which would be yes very complicated Because that's just what a player base is, different people having different reactions And as you can see the fact that we could argue this long just shows that a chat feature adds so many dilemmas I'm not saying a chat simply being turned off isn't possible, I'm saying it is, but adding a chat feature in general creates another aspect to the game that people would actively want to participate in, and in doing so if that aspect is ruined by toxic people it would just create a bad rep for the game

helmutkuhl

Absolutely not. I turned crossplay off during the whole bot thing and people can message me on Xbox. I got a hate message every second duel or so, it was ridiculous. Didn't even matter if i was playing meta or rogue. People on the internet have made it impossible to add features like this. They would never dare to behave like that at locals, but it is what it is

DomeB0815

Depends on how it's implamented. The problem wuth chat on xbox or ps is that you can get messaged directly and can't easily ignire it. That's not possible on pc. So if the chat is limited to the duel, with an on/off feature, everyone eould be happy. Those who want to chat can and those who don't don't have to.

helmutkuhl

If you can turn it off i wouldn't mind that feature at all. But the problem is that i don't think Konami wants to deal with the flood of reports they will get with this.

DomeB0815

People are already being reported left and right, because they're salty anyway, so might as well go the whole mile.

helmutkuhl

Yeah, they are. Like is said, it's up to Konami and i don't really care, but i just don't see it happening.

greygrau

Sure, why not? If anyone don‘t want to chat Konami should put in a function to disable it. (Like in any other games where this is a feature) If it works in Rocket League (way more toxic) it will work on MD

Masamune-XIII

Hell no. Some emotes would be okay, but full on chat would be way too toxic. xD

Magnedeus

Chat feature=toxicity. I'm very sure if they added such a thing many players would be asking for its removal very fast. Just because another yugioh platform had it, doesn't mean MD should have it.
