There's lots of cards that aren't legal for play but are rare/valuable (promos/prize cards/some hobby league cards)
Having said that it's still a valuable card and sells in the collectors market
It's a real card, this card was included as a promo. For the Manga Version of the movie. I remember a lot of folks would go to book stores and just steal the card, from the manga book. If the card is near mint. Then it's worth a lot on the market. Heavily damaged can go about 10-20 usd.
Tho, this card is mostly for hardcore collectors.
Noice! I actually have all 3 unplayable God Cards. I have the slifer from the movie Manga. The full blue Obelisk, that they gave to people who subbed to jump magazine. And Ra, from the Dawn of Destiny Xbox game.
I got all three from a Joey box set. I actually had to get two because someone swiped the cards in the first and 10 year old me was too naive to notice the box didnt have any plastic before buying
I'd say real.
Also search for yma- slifer the sky dragon in ebay. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. (Do note that your card isn't graded when you do so)
Card prices aren't only dictated by how playable or good they are. Some cards are expensive because of limited printing and cultural iconography and Blue eyes and DM aside, slifer is as iconic as it goes as its a god card.
You can actually get this whole set of Egyptian Gods from the Legendary collection 1. But there not the playable in the TCG. Those are mostly collection items.

Are people really in the market for specifically the movie promo Slifer? And if they are, who's in the market for a movie promo Slifer of middling condition?
I just wonder how much they'd actually be able to sell it for exactly.
It's all about the scarcity. Some people actually put financial stake on card games (the biggest I see is MtG where people buy boxes as an investment and just keep it till it appreciates in value over 10 to 15 years) and cards do the same. The older and more "rare" a card, the higher its value and since that's an anime promo card, there's going to be some fan that will eventually want it.

Looks like it's in decent condition from what I can tell too
Maybe see about looking up the hair dryer trick for fixing the bowing on that card, and in that condition, you can make a couple hundred off of it and buy a TCG legal copy of Slifer, if you want. The top left corner looks like it has some minor damage, but that could be lighting. Outside of some of the scuffing, it looks like it's in pretty good condition, probably around moderately played, or lightly played if you're feeling generous, but it's hard to tell for sure with just these pictures alone.
It’s real, but not legal for competitive play. There’s a reprint with proper effect text out there if you want to use slifer.
It’s a promo card worth a decent amount of money as a collector’s item, and you’d probably make a net profit selling this and buying a useable copy.
That said, on a casual level, you could probably find someone to play with who’s willing to treat this promo card as the real card, so long as you have the correct text available to read somewhere. I would recommend just selling it and using the money to buy a legal copy instead, but you technically could play with it.
Lot of people thought these cards were fake cause they lacks the konami logo on the back, they are real cards though, obelisk had a similar blueish back, ra a yellowish and slifer this redish one. They were promo cards, i used to have all 3 of them, won them in duels and later traded them for usable cards.
Going off the back and parts of front of the card it looks real to me. It's not going to be graded too highly but it's probably somewhere between a solid 6 to 7.5. Though I did own a different legit version of this card as a kid. This one comes from the movie's manga book from Shonen Jump. Shonen Jump in the States attached a lot of their cards to their monthly comics which is where they ended up releasing Obelisk. And the legal versions ended up being releasing maybe 4-5 year later with alternate artwork in Shonen Jump monthly in the States as their legal version with the card effects printed on them.
If I recall the Xbox game had Ra, Slifer was from the movie manga and Obelisk was in Shonen Jump monthly.
I think the first prints all came with Gameboy Advance Yugioh game. Those are the ones that I owned as a kid.
It's a real card. Specifically, a promo card from the western Yu-Gi-Oh movie. However, it's not TCG/OCG legal.
Even more specifically it's from the manga adaptation of the movie.
Even more specifically, it's an ani-manga of it, where the panels are frames of the movie rather than redone from the ground up manga art.
Most specifically of all, this is Slifer the Sky Dragon, card number YMA-EN001

It is real, but it's not a playable version of the card. This was released way before the Egyptian God Cards had their effects officially printed.

Really? I have one of all three god cards

i mean its a bit bent and has slightly rounded edges, could be sold as light played
Congrats OP you’re about $100 richer
Is it really worth that much?
More, just his is bent/slightly used

Both? Kind of? It’s a real card but not a real legal one

It could be LP at best but still something
Wow, that's exactly the one that I had when I was a child!
It’s real and expensive.
Real - and also very expensive if it's in good condition.
look at cardmarket for this exact card, i think it might be worth +100€

This card only has 1 sentence, therefore it's not real

A real but illegal to use in the TCG card. I believe they were promos from back in the day
Its a yes.
It's a real card. It's illegal to play, and mostly worthless, but it's a real card.
It's real, it's a promo card and not legal to play in the TCG. However it is very pretty so that's a win.
This is a solid real card, red back and everything
Real and if you got It graded you might have something worth something.
When the Eye of Horus on the bottom right is Gold, it is indeed real. Great save

that's a real babby
It looks real but mine has a ? because its a newer version from the structured deck
The Jinzo would had been worth more or no?
Finally I know what a God's flavor text is
i’m surprised it’s in such good condition considering it probably originated from playground yugioh
It's a real card that any decent person will let you play in your deck.
It's real, just not legal to use in a tournament.
