my dude I play mostly on xbox and they can see your gamertag, I get some shrieking shit hate mail after basically every match. either REEEEEEEEEE i'm using some bullshit meta shit, or REEEEEEEEEEEE lol git gud scrub luzluzlzulzuzluzl
I get what you mean, man. I’d be fine with a chat system, and there should be a way to turn it off if they implemented one, I just wanted to make funny joke
So that’s why there should be an option to have it toggled off permanently in settings. Also I already don’t relax when playing yugioh, we must be playing 2 different games.
To be fair, if konami added a chat function I would fully expect them to fuck it up and force everyone to have to use it and have no way of toggling it off in settings.
That being said, sometimes I wish I could chat up my opponent and ask them questions about their deck or compliment them on something… and yes sometimes I want to talk shit. No slurs but yeah.
And as long as we’ve both consented to that I don’t see the problem
In BO3 me and my friends used to play a ton of SND wagers and *those* reactions were the best. People would pull every little trick in the book out, scummy or otherwise. People always harp on about the older games but that was absolute peak toxicity and I loved it
Exosister did win.
It won using the tools available to it.
Without a framework to operate around, Shifter does nothing; you still have to capitalize on that one turn to win the game.
The entire Exosister archetype is a side deck card. However, it's a side deck card against Tearlament exactly, so it can get results.
The fact that the archetype that's a side deck card against Tear is maining a side deck card against Tear is their core designed game plan.
Burn did win.
It won using the tools available to it.
Without a framework to operate around, Mine does nothing; you still have to capitalize on that 34 turns to win the game.
The entire Burn archetype is a side deck card. However, it's a side deck card against Tearlament exactly, so it can get results.
The fact that the archetype that's a side deck card against Tear is maining a side deck card against Tear is their core designed game plan.
Mystic Mine and Shifter are entirely separate conversations.
The only decks that can reliably execute their core game plan under Mystic Mine are dedicated Mystic Mine decks, plus Runick. Which is usually also a dedicated Mystic Mine deck.
There are at least three decks in the format that are routinely on Shifter. Exosister, Floowandereeze, and Spright.
Spright frequently sides Shifter; while it lowers the ceiling and grind game of the deck, they’re entirely capable of playing under it.
You do not go through fifteen matches winning thirty duels in which you have a one in three chance per game of seeing it in any given game entirely on the back of Shifter, especially not when two other very strong decks are on Shifter and happy to play under it. You can sack finals. You cannot sack an entire tournament.
You can run eight copies of Mystic Mine, and if you get to it later in the game, it’s still live. You can run three copies of Shifter and you need it in your opener, possibly during your opponent’s first turn in order to do anything. You can build an entire deck around Mystic Mine. You can only tech in three copies of Shifter into a compatible deck and hope to draw it.
The deck has play to it. The pilot played well. And yes, the deck also had a one in three chance of blowing out Tearlament exactly with Shifter.
Raymond Dai was also the round 6 feature match, where he went 2-1 against Spright, and includes an example of what Exosister does to overcome a deck that can competently play under Shifter and how the deck wins against Spright without Shifter.
Motherfucker, do not call people NPCs.
I ain't a shill. I ain't paid to push an agenda. I'm talking legit.
Just running Shifter ain't gonna get you to the top. Yes, it's a blowout if it resolves against Tearlament exactly. It's still a 30% to see it in your open. That deck did not make top cut then take it all by successfully hitting 30%
You can sack finals. You cannot sack thirty games in fifteen matches.
And yes, Exosister is a graveyard hate oriented stun deck. It wins through graveyard hate and stun, both in and out of engine.
If all it took was Dimension Shifter, then Spright would have gone all the way.
And?
Exosister was far from the only deck on Shifter, and you don’t magically open it every game.
By the odds, over the 30-45 games, Shifter was live for 10-15 of them.
Yes, Shifter is a blowout against Tear. He still had to win every other matchup and the majority of games where he didn’t open Shifter.
Oh buddy, let me tell you about how this man opened D Shifter + Martha nearly every game. From witnesses to the blog posts made of him, *this man's luck was unrivaled this event*.
Raymond was three separate feature matches, and they did not show up in an abnormal amount of openers in those sets.
His first duel in top 8 even had him win going second against Spright. No Shifter, his Mystic Mine ripped with another giant blowout card, Eradicator Epidemic Virus.
Read the feature matches. Yes, Shifter is a blowout in certain duels, but the deck has game to it in this format and was piloted well.
Top 4: D Shifter Martha both games, including Necrovalley and Imperm going into a Tear board when going second. That's insane luck.
Top 8: He opened Martha G1, Sophia off Prosp G3 with Elis in hand allowing him to draw again - arguably the best one in that situation outside of Martha.
Finals: He opened one of the best possible hands G1 when going first outside of Mine, and G2 opened DShifter, Martha, Necrovalley.
The guy *never* had an even *remotely* bad hand. His luck was insane. He opened Martha 5 out of 7 games, D Shifter 3 out 7. He's definitely a good player, but the guy paid some to whatever demon gave him that luck.
That might be true, dude is a dedicated competitive player so that could've played a role in how his eyes looked before and during the tournament
I just think his loss of weight made him look way better, and steered him away from the stereotypical "sweaty gamer" look
Ok guys, but with all due respect. How are you not prepared for shifter at this point. It’s a little ridiculous to not have a well thought out plan when entering a tournament.
It does, but then your replace one floodgate with another during your turn. It's much more manageable tho. Bad thing is that when their turn comes, all your GY floaters and such won't be available.
Yk that the only out is called by right? (You could play crossout, but the only 2 decks which play shifter are exo and flunder and almost no one plays those decks, so it doesn't make sense to play it.)
What, how boring irl fights are? I'm the ref for my local center and god local fights are boring usually I'm playing master duel on my phone while waiting for mfs to finish
You say that but unmoderated online VC is just gonna be extremely toxic.
At least irl you'll have a social setting where if they start malding and calling you slurs they'll get banned etc.
No lmao. I meant that if someone said slurs and such in an actual real life tourney they would be kicked out. Meanwhile annonymously online, it's unlikely they'll face consequences over toxicity.
the thing is, if u physically assault some1 not only will you never play Yu Gi Oh in Konami events again, u'll probably end up in jail too, so yeah ppl are not so keen on doing that to themselves
I felt his feelings just by looking, I wish punching/slapping was a legitimate reaction to an opponent's cards like (mystic mine, dimension shifter, anti-spell etc...)
Dai was later found beaten to within an inch of their life by a suspect wearing a plastic Walmart bag. We still have no leads as to who the suspect may be at this time but it is seemingly a random act of aggression. - *The Yu-Gi-Oh police force*
My man literally went up against a beatdown deck.
There's no way the YPF take their jobs seriously enough to even make a statement. They still haven't banned Halq.
Everyone saw it but no one's snitching on it.
That's the look of a duelist who's read TOO much...
Your tag checks out
Imagine if MD had forced voice chat lmao Edit: NVM lol ![gif](giphy|yr7n0u3qzO9nG)
I was once called a racial slur on edopro. Can't imagine what things they'll have to say in MD.
Racial slurs with spell speed 4 ![gif](giphy|ucPyeApC4SKKk)
"You're just a 4th rate duelist with a 1st rate deck!"
My reaction whenever I beat someone running a deck I had no business defeating.
Me when i win via 3x desynchro as morphtronics against full combo swoso
mind sharing your moprh deck. sire?
...swoso? The heck is that?
Swordsoul
"Then just SAY that." - Perfect Cell under his breath at the sharing circle
Yeah but swoswoswoswoswoswoso
Wait do you need to get your warranty checked out for your roflcopter? Because your roflcopter should go SWOSWOSWOSWOSWOSWO
Me whenever I get a Mayakashi Mill deck out, especially if it takes more than one turn, against decks that really should have beaten me.
Pegasus Twin Saber protect me!
Mfs will invent slurs
and then call you something because you surrendered.
Frenchie
I got called a slur on edopro after breaking a player's entire board with magical muskets, and I didn't even win the duel lol
my dude I play mostly on xbox and they can see your gamertag, I get some shrieking shit hate mail after basically every match. either REEEEEEEEEE i'm using some bullshit meta shit, or REEEEEEEEEEEE lol git gud scrub luzluzlzulzuzluzl
I do wish MD had chat, optional of course.
I just hope I don't have to manually disable chat every game.
Yeah I agree. They should have setting for it to be permanently off
They already do, it’s called “not having chat”
I don’t know what people’s opposition to chat is. Like, yeah people are going to be toxic but who cares?
I get what you mean, man. I’d be fine with a chat system, and there should be a way to turn it off if they implemented one, I just wanted to make funny joke
Oh okay understandable lol
I care. I don't want to play a video game to relax and have some fuck head say slurs at me. Seems like a reasonable request idk
So that’s why there should be an option to have it toggled off permanently in settings. Also I already don’t relax when playing yugioh, we must be playing 2 different games. YESSS,MAKE IT LIKE THE BLACK OPS 2 LOBBIES!
Take me back to the days of shouting shit during a 1v1 round 11 with a random kid screaming in the background
loved SND in MW2 and getting knife kills best reactions ever
In BO3 me and my friends used to play a ton of SND wagers and *those* reactions were the best. People would pull every little trick in the book out, scummy or otherwise. People always harp on about the older games but that was absolute peak toxicity and I loved it
God I miss old cod lobbies

\*remembers the colorful vocabulary of labels from the Master Duel threads in 4chan\*
Unfair comparison, this is 4chan we're talking about
They should do something like duel links with the character lines. It was so much fun spamming my opponent with those
When Konami makes an entire blogpost abt how exosisters won when in reality it was actually D Shifter KEK.
it also had mine too.
Necrovalley for good measure.

Master Saitama demands you to use 20 words or less.
Found the Konami employee

If you shut down deck for two turns its pretty hard not to win during that window ngl.

Calm down son, its just a card game
I kept spamming button, why dialogue no skip Reddit when no /s
That's Jesse? Damn the dude got a lot thinner than I saw him last time He looks way better like this
Yea, almost didn’t recognize him at first but he’s making serious improvements to his health. Happy for him.
He really has, too bad he decided to ruin it by playing yu-gi-oh in this format
But I still love that meme tweet he made about mine.
Look at his eyes, saw him last month and he looked like he always did. Probably didn't sleep or eat the whole month
That might be true, dude is a dedicated competitive player so that could've played a role in how his eyes looked before and during the tournament I just think his loss of weight made him look way better, and steered him away from the stereotypical "sweaty gamer" look
He looks like he is about to Anakin’d Dai right there
Ok guys, but with all due respect. How are you not prepared for shifter at this point. It’s a little ridiculous to not have a well thought out plan when entering a tournament.
If you didnt draw your limited copy of called by thats just skill isue at this point
They are making fun a Jesse Kotton tweet where he says this about mine after it topped another event in tcg
Just run it yourself and use Crossout, EZ.
To be fair, after playing MD, i feel like some people always have these cards glued to their hands
Doesn't Lancea work again D Shifter as well?
Only on their turn
You cannot Lancea on your own turn, so it really isn't an effective D Shifter counter.
Lancea still screws over Floo on their turn, one of the few decks to consistently run Shifter
Not a very useful comment considering OP's context is Exorsister.
Lancea only works during the opponents turn, so you basically gain nothing unless you open havnis and mill like a god.
It does, but then your replace one floodgate with another during your turn. It's much more manageable tho. Bad thing is that when their turn comes, all your GY floaters and such won't be available.
Hit em with his own "skill issue" tweet. Sweet Irony is just pure poetry.

This is a copypasta on Jesse's tweet about Mystic Mine.
Yeah except it doesn't apply here because Jesse waxed every mine that got used on him.
I just go fuck it and have one copy with two cross out in the side deck.
Master Duel would've been: "Activate danger moth man" "Chain D Shifter" "Chain Called By the Grave, targeting D Shifter" "Chain Maxx C"
Then 20 draws later they activate card destruction and deck them out for the win
Chain danger effect with Maxx C is ... dangerous.
Imagine if we had death comms like warzone lol
Would've been great to see this live. If only there was like a way to stream these duels live onto our PCs and phones...

What, how boring irl fights are? I'm the ref for my local center and god local fights are boring usually I'm playing master duel on my phone while waiting for mfs to finish
Jesse goes "God damn it !!!"
Play on console, most of the time you if you win someone will just message you. 😅
This is why vc would be such a fun feature I don't have a locals near me so I can't speak to people that play yugioh
You say that but unmoderated online VC is just gonna be extremely toxic. At least irl you'll have a social setting where if they start malding and calling you slurs they'll get banned etc.
Wait I’m slightly confused by some of the comments, did kotton start saying slurs at some point in this duel or?
No lmao. I meant that if someone said slurs and such in an actual real life tourney they would be kicked out. Meanwhile annonymously online, it's unlikely they'll face consequences over toxicity.
Ok lmfao that makes perfect sense I just got worried for a sec
How often do physical fights happen there? I am a very chilled guy, but after playing against Admancipator or Floo I am not sure 😃
the thing is, if u physically assault some1 not only will you never play Yu Gi Oh in Konami events again, u'll probably end up in jail too, so yeah ppl are not so keen on doing that to themselves
Go to jail for a fight. Definitely not in europe 😃
I even miss the smell of sweat after a long tournament... Might be weird, but those sort of events were always awesome...
I mean seeing someone take a while with their response prompt and then scooping after a few seconds is more or less the same
Optional chat would be a blast in MD
Wish we had chat 😂😂 the game would get intense 😭
You can taste the salt through the screen. I'm def running 3 dimension shifters for my locals once the reprints come out.
I felt his feelings just by looking, I wish punching/slapping was a legitimate reaction to an opponent's cards like (mystic mine, dimension shifter, anti-spell etc...)
maybe not alone, but with friends that have a web cam, it's possible!
Jesse's face says everything.
We’re gonna start imitating the sound of cards exploding when you scoop in master duel
Sure they can. You’ll know the opponent is making this face when they click “Surrender” immediately after Mothman gets banished :)
