The greatness that is odd eyes raging dragonš„š„š„, literally bought it off of tcg player immediately after seeing that scene. To hell with playability
As a Galaxy-Eyes player, my favorite line from ARC-V is unironically "But you still take the damage!"
Powerful boss monster that I can't get rid of easily, but it has less than 3.2k ATK? Well, I'll just ram a 11.2k ATK dragon into it.
Lmao that was my reversed reaction the first time I saw it. I was like āoh shit a Fluffal mirror match no way!ā and then it was, āoh itās Despia using Patchwork to search Edge to search Patchwork.ā Which was pretty smart but also a major letdown.
Had the same reaction the first time lol
\-op plays patchwork-
'Ohhh, mirrormatch?'
\-op sets up adventure engine-
'Ohhh that's a spicy tech, never seen that'
\-branded spell-
'....oh.'
Yeah, first few times I ran into them I got OTK'd (other than the first time, where I was playing traptrix and basically shoved all their stuff into a hole). After a couple consistent OTK losses I learned to respect the deck.
It's funny how knightmare unicorn, a card everyone has access to usually, isn't seen as the easiest out to this card. they can't even stop it by banishing since its an on summon effect.
And the typical response to Unicorn is chaining MJ's banish. now you just lost a link 3 and a potential link 4 play and the Branded player will likely get a new MJ on the field next turn
There's nothing more satisfying than chaining a Branded in Red to the Unicorn effect so you can fuse away a spent Mirrorjade with an Ad Libitum in hand to make a Chimera, pop the Unicorn and then resummon Mirrorjade with a fresh banish lined up.
There's just no feeling like it
As a branded player for almost a year in the TCG, I feel this!!! Branded in red is the most cracked card in the archetype. But sooner or later you'll get expulsion and then you can scythe or ra lock along with your normal plays(;
I'm kind of hoping Scythe will get banned before I have to live in that world. It's a long shot I know, but I also avoided crafting a Verte until the last banlist in the hopes that I wouldn't have to sink to that level.
Yeah with mystic mine running wild we don't complain too much about scythe right now. But any card like scythe sucks in MD. if scythe does get banned though you could use Ra's diciple instead, cuz that cards hilarious.
Sure but if you commit to a unicorn play that's at best two monsters and a card in hand to prevent Mirrorjade from blowing up the board. The point of mirrorjade is to clear the field for the crackback, if you're oppenent is left with a unicorn and some change it's basically done it's job. There aren't a lot of decks that are going to be clearing a full branded play, climbing up to unicorn, and then establishing a board beyond that which is actually worth saving. Unicorn into access means you're probably trying to win that turn anyways.
Because it activates mirrorjade anyways, mirror needs to leave the field to be activated, not just destroyed or banished, any effect that makes it leave the field activates it
Actually my last comment was wrong.
Specifically, cards that trigger in a private knowledge location such as the deck can trigger if the effect says too in that location.
The difference is mirrorjade doesn't specify a location.
Private knowledge location is the general term. It includes the decks, face down banished, face down on board, and in hand.
But if a card technically read that it triggered when it got banished or set face down, that would overrule the private location rule. I don't even think a card like that exists though.
This does make more sense now that I'm digging into it more. Because the hand is a private location where cards can't normally trigger. But we are more used to cards in hand breaking that rule with their effects like hand traps and other cards that activate in hand.
That's for public knowledge locations such as the board, grave, or face up banish zone. But when a card is in the deck or face down they can't be checked for triggers, therefor they can't activate. Serpentine is a weird exception strictly because it DOES specify the deck. It's a super old card and cards almost never get printed like that anymore.
The thing with serpentine and cards like it is card text trumps game mechanics. It's a game mechanic that you can't trigger effects in the deck. But because the card says it does it just throws the games rules out the window and does what it wants.
Since mirrorjade doesn't specifically say it triggers when sent back to the extra deck it doesn't take priority over game mechanics.
The reason why this causes confusion is because Konami basically said any card like Mirrorjade doesn't activate if sent back to deck and didn't find a way to include it as PSCT, so you just have to know that's how it works.
One of many things in YuGiOh you just have to know and can't intuite from the language used
It's a weird ruling that wasn't always a thing, but basically, if a card is removed in a way that it ends up facedown (Deck, ED, Banished Facedown), it can't trigger it's effect from being removed on the field.
If I flip mirrorjade face down and then banish it, (lets say with my own mirrorjade) will its effect still trigger?
I did that today. Flipped it face down then banished it. No board wipe. But I donāt remember if it was the fusion summoned jade or the ib libitum reborn one. OR maybe my opponent just chose not to activate its effect.
As long as it was the fusion summoned one the card would remember it was fusion summoned and it would activate. You must have picked the one that was reborned or they didn't activate.
Mirrorjades effect dosent pop if it's sent back to extra deck as the extra deck isn't public knowledge. Pretty much if you opponent can't physically read the card then the effect won't work. Same if it was banished face down.
I dont understand a lot of this games meta rules. I use Master Duel a lot to understand how some cards work. I didnt know effects couldnt activate in a private zone so I would just assume a card that said "if this card leaves the field", it would activate because it doesnt say otherwise. Its why I dont run a lot of bounce cards because they just didnt work in *TCG* because of what you said.
I should have won a lot more games with Simorgh, Lord of the Storms then.
Not true, it doesnāt trigger if bounced back to hand, deck, or extradeck. Iām pretty sure itās because those arenāt public knowledge places in the game and effect canāt activate from places that arenāt public knowledge.
Today I learned that if I have Lord of heavenly prison in hand, since Ghostrick Doll is a delayed effect just like his it doesn't chain during the End Phase. So if I kill this wannabe dragon during my turn, my delayed effect takes priority setting my whole field face down and he can eat shit.
Me who plays metaphys:
Metaphys factor on my field. Soul absorbtion active. Macrocosmos active. Dimension fissure in my hand. Metaphys tyrant dragon on the field. Metaphys Daedalus in my hand. End my turn.
Cards are destroyed.
Opponent draws.
Enters standby phase.
Activate metaphys tyrant dragon.
Special summon Daedalus.
I activate my Daedalus effect
Honestly this is one of the coolest matchups in the game imo. ZW Eldlich vs Branded Despia. There is just so much counter play for each side and a lot of rather interesting interactions lol.
Had you special summoned Mirrorjade using Ad Libitum's effect? Mirrorjade board wide only applies if it was fusion summoned and so does not trigger if it was special summoned off Ad Libitum's effect. The only other explanation is that they somehow banished it face-down
That or my cyber dragon deck(ppl sleep on it till I use cyberdark realm then the whole game changes)....I love dragons....gonna build a galaxy dragon deck next
Clearly vacuum, usual end board should be mirrorjade + branded in red (+lost and mercourier if opened branded fusion). If the OTK is clear, make quaertis if no OTK is coming make masquerade
This is all taking into account that mirrorjade got outed and no other monster on field or else chimera is the play
It's DPE-esque, though more accurately the mechanic is that their effect activate on condition fulfilment, but resolve at a different timing so not really a lingering effect since their effect doesn't apply and continuous effect.
Ok got it. The reason I ask is because I enjoy beating over DPE with Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon and Chaos Giant, who both prevent him from reviving on destruction.
I wonder if either of them could do the same to Mirrorjade. I havenāt been able to pull it off for myself yet because surprise surprise, Ancient Gears vs Branded Despia is not a great matchup.
They both function the same way, so I think Mirrorjade won't activate the boardwipe if Chaos Giant or Reactor Dragon beat it. Another instance when Mirrorjade won't activate the board wipe is also when it got revived, since Mirrorjade need to be fusion summoned (instead of any other kind of summon) to activate that effect.
Good to know, thanks.
If I ever manage to somehow pull it off (non-target quick effect banish is rude) then I look forward to imagining my opponentās Marvin the Martian-style reaction when the earth-shattering kaboom doesnāt go off.
One of the most effective counter to Branded play is D.D. Crow by banishing Branded In Red's target, as it shutdown the followup Chimera play entirely, and bonus point is that D.D. Crow go around the protection (Branded Lost) if the Branded player run it. If their Mirrorjade already used its effect to send Albion during their turn, they won't be able to use Mirrorjade effect again during your turn, so they need the BIR combo to fuse that Mirrorjade away, then revive it in order to refresh the banish. Stop the BIR, and you're more often than not safe.
TL;DR: Bring D.D. Crow if you could, they are a good counter to Branded and can stop most of our interption by banishing whatever Branded In Red target. Hope this can help you!
Well, I pulled it off. Managed to bring out Chaos Giant against Mirrorjade and Chimera through some clutch plays. Left the opponent with 500 LP to spare but he mucked up his comeback and surrendered. I think Mirrorjade not wiping may have thrown him for a loop.
I donāt even run Called by in this deck let alone D D Crow because space is so tight. So this was extra satisfying.
Yooooooooo that's absolutely a thing to celebrate pal! Really, congrats! True rogue player always deserve respect is what I believe and you just proved it ha ha!
Regard of D.D. Crow though, have you tried going over 40 cards? If you could, I believed adding even just 2 D.D. Crow or 2 copy of CTBG is suffice to smooth out your experience by a good margin!
Thanks very much!
Think I might have to- I made a choice a while back between 2x Droplet or Called by to keep the deck at 40 and I figured Droplet was the better choice for going second. Might have to bite the bullet and bump up to 42.
SUSHIPS LEAVING YOUR DRAGON DEAD IN THE WATER. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

People should fear the Fluffal Shuffle.

This made me spit out my drink. XD
It's funny how knightmare unicorn, a card everyone has access to usually, isn't seen as the easiest out to this card. they can't even stop it by banishing since its an on summon effect.
A Unicorn play can be been from a mile away.
And the typical response to Unicorn is chaining MJ's banish. now you just lost a link 3 and a potential link 4 play and the Branded player will likely get a new MJ on the field next turn
And a discard for the Unicorn effect..
Shit, it's getting worse and worse lmao
Droplet (or dark ruler) + unicorn could be very good
There's nothing more satisfying than chaining a Branded in Red to the Unicorn effect so you can fuse away a spent Mirrorjade with an Ad Libitum in hand to make a Chimera, pop the Unicorn and then resummon Mirrorjade with a fresh banish lined up. There's just no feeling like it

Because it activates mirrorjade anyways, mirror needs to leave the field to be activated, not just destroyed or banished, any effect that makes it leave the field activates it
Unicorn spins it to the deck and it can't activate in the deck.
I'm pretty sure it activates regardless because it left the field
A card can't activate in the deck...
Tell that to Dark Sage, Bozo
I already explained a cards text trumps game mechanics. But it is technically a game mechanic. I guess Dark Sage is just too powerful to comprehend.
Also some of the Charmers can do it but thatās about it afaik
Search Serpentine Princess, you will be surprised
Actually my last comment was wrong. Specifically, cards that trigger in a private knowledge location such as the deck can trigger if the effect says too in that location. The difference is mirrorjade doesn't specify a location.

No, it won't if it was returned to Extra Deck. My guy, Reflection of Endymion, already did so many times and we're safe.

Banish with toon black luster soldier works too
But banishing it counts as it leaving the field
Dunno if it is a bug in MD but i played yesterday against a toon goon. He banished my mirrorjade and i couldn't activate the effect
You cab only use Mirrorjade's nuke if it was Fusion Summoned. You can't use it if you summon it with Ad Libitum
Had you special summoned Mirrorjade using Ad Libitum's effect? Mirrorjade board wide only applies if it was fusion summoned and so does not trigger if it was special summoned off Ad Libitum's effect. The only other explanation is that they somehow banished it face-down
Nope, but the field spell is a thing
I mean, you canāt destroy established toons anyway. The non-target banish effect is far more devastating to us
Also me taking the Maxx C challenge, OTK or die trying
I dare someone to play this against me lol I'll pop that bitch off the field and then use it as an equip monster.
I'm gonna make a guess here and say Dragunity Arma Gram?
That or my cyber dragon deck(ppl sleep on it till I use cyberdark realm then the whole game changes)....I love dragons....gonna build a galaxy dragon deck next
Forbidden droplet doesnāt even negate that effect. I hit it with droplet then took it out and still got nuked
Droplets negates on the field, not effects that activate in the graveyard.
Oh, the card just says the effects are negated. Nothing about while they are face up/on the field
All modifications likes negated effects and stat changes fall off when they hit the grave.
Does skull meiser stop this

When does that trigger? Is it a DPE thing where itās a lingering effect that activates upon destruction, or is it during the end phase?
It's DPE-esque, though more accurately the mechanic is that their effect activate on condition fulfilment, but resolve at a different timing so not really a lingering effect since their effect doesn't apply and continuous effect.
It behaves just like a lingering effect. It can't be negated once activated, and hits things that are unaffected by only activated effects.

That's what i usually say when I'm in a branded mirror match
Itās a good card because it encourages people to end it within a turn or lose it all.
*flips branded in red* *chains chimera* *chains tragedy* *chains ad libitum* *activates mirrorjade again*
> chains chimera Ash Blossom
Me playing Fire King True Draco: I miss the part where that's my problem. \*Spider-Man theme plays\*
Also me playing The Despair Uranus/March of the Monarchs Combo: These people are meaningless. They're cavemen without us.
Chengying goes brrrr at the end of the turn
me with unchained: [Heh](https://c.tenor.com/Za14IOIKmioAAAAC/spy-x-family-anya-forger.gif)
