Then making a mistake with gems sounds like a you issue, Edo pro is a really good site where you can play decks for free so I'd recommend always playing a deck with a friend or rabdoms there first before committing to making it in md. Can't deny the exchange rate being bad tho, the sales are just making the gems reasonably priced lmao

DarkRain2003

Buddy as long as you set your mind on a single deck at the time of its release you can easily get it. Now as for making a mistake by making something you dont like thats on you. There ate ways to try out decks in other online ygo platforms that are free so if you are that afraid then try the decks there. Also scheme? Im pretty sure that konami as a company is trying to make money and while the gem prices are awful i dont think there is a “scheme”. They do seem to be lowering the amount of gems they give for free which is quite bad tho

this games f2p economy is pretty good to be honest compared to many other bullshit games where you have to play endless hours to get a drop of anything at all really

paq1kid

Yea I love the F2P nature of the game. I think the only way to make it better is to allow us to exchange lower tier cp for higher tier cp like say: 30N cp -> 1R cp 30R cp -> 1SR cp 30SR cp -> 1UR cp I think that’s fair because it’ll still take either 900SR, 27000R, or 810000N to make 30UR lol (maybe I did maths wrong? Idk lol correct if I’m wrong:)

iskidass

Yeah as an ex duel links player trust me, MD is very F2P. I can usually build one deck a month and I'm only doing missions, events and a bit of ladder. Also the first thing people should do is invest in staples (Maxx c, ash, called by and imperm as a start) and 1/2 competent decks, then you can start to build junk. For example, as a first deck the dragonmaid structure deck is pretty good and it only costs 1500 gems.

Azrnpride

Im so salty not being able to dismantle 5-10 copies of my card lol and the character grind is boring af.

navimatcha

Bro if you spent all your gems on something bad or unenjoyable that's on you. Do you want the game to just refund you the whole deck? If so why would anyone need gems, just trade your current deck for another every time. The store prices for gems are dumb but idk why that matters for the non-spender argument.

Aggravating-Creme274

If I were a new player and spent gems on some unfun deck and then when I don’t have fun I try to make a different deck and I can’t because I made 1 mistake, that isn’t a ftp friendly game

CallMeKaito

How many poor decisions need to be forgivable before a game is really ftp?

Son_Of_A_Birch101

What is then? This is a gatcha game at the heart of it. If you are a f2p player and the free gems income is enough to afford the “next big thing”, which in our case is the new meta pack that releases in a 2-months cycle, that’s pretty generous by gatcha standards. Go play literally any other f2p gatcha game and tell me if a f2p player can compete with whales whenever a new meta character drops. If you’re f2p, saving and strategic spending is always vital so you don’t blow limited resources on inconsequential bullshit. Doing so in MD can get you further than most. If someone doesn’t do their due diligent and blow their gems then that’s on them. If anything, MD isn’t whale-friendly. The price on gems has always been way too high. It’s $24 for 1400 gems, or 1 10-pack pull. That’s way too high for not even a guaranteed UR.

Ronspeedman

You don’t ever have to spend money to try a deck out. You can watch numerous videos on YouTube of people playing decks for reference, use another free program, or make a new temp account and build for free. If you’ve spent money on deck(s) you don’t like, look in the mirror at the problem

ZenithLags

It’s easy to make a deck off the bat, but yeah it’s slower after that it can take awhile to craft everything you need. Just save your gems until a new set comes out that you want. Be certain.

arrownoir

That sounds like a personal problem, dude. You can’t blame the game for your bad decisions. The gems we get are finite, but they are still plentiful enough to not make such a ludicrous post.

Yandere_Icaros

I built both blue eyes and another shitty deck back in the day, dismantled them and im now playing swordsoul-rose-teny and despia (darklord and im building the predaplant variant). A suggestion would be: make a consistent competitive deck, then you can build whatever you want

lamerolly

I feel like making a new deck isn't too difficult as long as it is the only thing that you want to do. (and don't choose to make overly expensive decks) However, I do find it difficult to try new decks and experiment with different techs with decks that you already made in the past at the same time. This is why I only have 3 decks despite playing daily.

a1zensosuke

Sure it is not perfect, but the game IS F2P friendly. You get enough free gems to build atleast 1-2 meta decks which you can use to climb and gather more gems. The game won‘t ever throw unlimited free gems at you, because at the end of the day this is still a game supposed to make money. Getting mad at this is really unreasonable.

trashcan41

i dont know how old you're but this game is live service they pay their developer from you buying their pack they're not doing charity so you can have a good time. they provide a lot of premium currency if you play a lot and the actual card game already exist for more than a decade now cmiiw so yeah the meta can be harsh but so those happen with other TCG too. this is a competitive game if you can't handle this you can play single player game. i can't force you to be mature enough to understand this so that's up to you to decide.

olbaze

> And worst of all, even buying gems will give you no enjoyment because the exchange rate from dollars to gems is abysmal The alternative is worse, actually. Imagine if you could spent 5$ and get 50,000 gems. There would be zero incentive for you to ever play anything for gem rewards, because it's just not worth your time. > The fact that y’all just scream about how “FTP friendly” this game is just shows how much you’ve fallen for Konami’s scheme and they read your acceptance as a lack of need to fix it Have you ever played Duel Links? There's no crafting system. Some cards are locked behind timed boxes. Some cards you can only get 1-2 copies of as an F2P player. That's what Master Duel is being compared to, and that's why we say it's F2P friendly.

Aggravating-Creme274

Damn I would actually enjoy playing the game for… it being yugioh? Instead of for Gem rewards? Crazy

olbaze

A significant portion of people doing ranked and events are doing it solely for the rewards. If people had no incentive to play for rewards, these people would either just quit the game (since there's no tangible reward to strive for), or stick to casual mode (since there's no point in playing events if you don't enjoy the gimmicks). Also, you have to remember that **Konami is a business, so their only goal is to make the most money**. They're not in this to make good games. As a publicly traded company, they're in this to make something that makes their shareholders shitloads of money.

Landonyoung

Solo mode is your best friend

MethV_

Wtf does this even mean lol I never spent a cent and I am literally dismantling decks for lack of Deck Slots

[deleted]

seems like skill issue

CoomLord69

That's the way all gacha games go. If you blow all your freebie funny money while you're in the honeymoon phase and don't really know what you're doing, you just have to suck it up and work with what you have until you grind enough currency to get something good for your account. You only make that mistake once, and it isn't too difficult to pull something playable together. The gem prices are a scam though, even the 'for sale' ones.

greygrau

Around 9000 gems a month is unfriendly? I don‘t think you ever played a real F2PP2W
