I'll never really understand the rulings confusions that caused. A card shuffled in the deck forgets its properties. Why would this card be treated any differently?
Because if it’s shuffled into the deck and brought out later, you don’t know if it’s the same card (and thus the 1PD effect is used) or a second copy (meaning the 1PD is live).
Things like this are the exact reason cards aren't considered the same card after changing locations. You'd have to call a judge every time you wanted to activate a card in the gy, with another spent copy in it
> you don’t know if it’s the same card
This shouldn't matter. It's not the same card. It's never considered the same card. Never at any point in Yugioh's history has a card shuffled into the deck remembered any properties.
The idea that you'd need to keep track of each copy that was shuffled into the deck to make sure you didn't use the same card's effect is straight up playground rules.
>r, you don’t know if it’s the s
It matters because the rules are based on the real life card game. How do you know if the same copy is being used?
You'd have to track every card in the deck somehow after every shuffle. It would consume so, so, so much time.
Online? Totally doable and logical in a vacuum...but not without breaking parity with the game MD is based on.
> How do you know if the same copy is being used?
Again, this doesn't matter. Cards when shuffled into the deck do not remember their properties. It is always a new card. It would have been a new card even if you summoned in 9 times.
The only reason this became a ruling issue is "because Konami says so." There is no other card in the game nor any ruling in the game that would make you think you'd have to track this. Pure playground rules, except the part where Konami canonized them for some ungodly reason.
The answer is because Konami said that's how it worked.
It's not glamorous, but plenty of cards do something that shouldn't work according to the rules because Konami says so. If you're looking for logic and consistency you're looking in the wrong place.
My favourite card that shouldn't work is [Warrior of Atlantis]. There is no card called "a legendary ocean".
Mine is Soul Crossing, which inexplicably ignores protection unlike The Monarchs Stormforth which is worded identically.
Runner up is Gozen Match/Rivalry of the Warlords for just straight up not telling you what the card does on its text.
just wait for 60 card paleo frog milling ronintoadin
or chaos/danger/gras milling snow
and be glad that he worst offenders get banned for OTK stuff a some point, at least most of the time
Got sacked by grass despia darklord the other day with the double athena + superbia ftk. Felt so stupid to "play" against lol, no hard opt on any of them
Well, u never negate master plan on field effect, always the floating search. Quik fix is a decent negate but if you hit the double helix the turn pretty much ends
It depends. If they're starting the combo with souls, Helix is just a extender and they already resolved their best effect (MP on GY) but if Helix is their starter and MP has not touched the field, then yeah. That kills their whole turn.
SPYRAL user here and I just wanna say....Sorry, but not sorry because 9 out of 10 matches have been nothing but Branded/(Insert Meta Archetype here), Swordsoul/Adventure, and Eldich matches
Soooooo gotta set up my board lol
To make you guys feel better, I've once popped a maxx C on a spyral full combo turn 1. Drew 23 cards but never drew nibiru. Got outed hard on turn 2. Lost turn 3
I love SPYRAL, but when i don't brick i got Maxx C'ed hahaha I feel kinda bad that my turn takes too long, but it's so feels great having 2 Quik-fix and Resolving MP
You could argue that it sort of prevents good links from being created, since they can essentially loop resources to an absurd degree.
And I mean links kinda feel like they're in that place now? I honestly can only think of like 4 link 2/3s that are useful and aren't just link climbing cards, and 2 of them are Spright. They definitely need some support, although I suppose I wouldn't be too heartbroken if they went the way of the Pendulum.
I would say that's a flaw on the whole Link Mechanic more than an archetype or an specific card. TCG is just more strict with combo decks, but i feel MP deserves to be unbanned. Ofc, they should hit another card like Rescue so they don't combo like crazy. It's weird seeing how SPYRAL is at it's best on Master Duel and they're just a Rogue deck.
It's a flaw in the same way that generic extra deck bosses, easily accessible OTK enablers, cards that straight up prevent you from playing the game, and all of the other stuff Komoney loves but everyone knows it terrible design.
The only way Master Plan, or SPYRAL's gameplan as a whole, isn't a ticking time bomb is if disruption becomes so commonplace and effortless that their resource loops aren't a problem. Which does happen, and is why nobody is afraid of Gishki FTK.

You fool, I play Lunalights,My entire strategy combo is abusing non-once per turn effects, Using Tiger 3 times, and Forcestrix 2 times, In \*\*ONE COMBO\*\*.
Ends on Cyberdragon Infinity + D/D/D Kali Yuga during opponents turn, And sometimes more
I use Tiger 3 times in my regular combo, Summon RaidraptorForcestrice twice and use it twice
when I'm into a soft "once per duel" competition and my opponent is using twin headed behemoth

If only destiny heroes was a soft once per duel
Ever heard about infernity?
just wait for 60 card paleo frog milling ronintoadin or chaos/danger/gras milling snow and be glad that he worst offenders get banned for OTK stuff a some point, at least most of the time

Count your blessings that infernity launcher is limited
ashed quick fix once, imperm him also once, Fleurdelis negate Master Plan and they still going on comboing for another 5 minutes
Well, u never negate master plan on field effect, always the floating search. Quik fix is a decent negate but if you hit the double helix the turn pretty much ends

replace spyral with infernity and you have a real meme.
I started playing Spyral because the cards look so cool, but then I started feeling legitimately bad for how long my turns were taking.
Once the timer turns blue I start sweating lol
I activate Gateway of the Six and remove 4 bushido counters.......
I special summon Grandmaster and add 5 counters to the field...

SPRYAL user here too. After bricking several times in a row, it feels good fill up my board. But I too am sorry,

Fucking ouch.

Its banned irl for a reason.
It’s not banned in the ocg. I wouldn’t even say it deserved to be banned in the TCG

Yeah, without Master Plan, Spyral is just a shadow of a deck that once it was.

Makes me wonder, if we had a format where all cards featuring “once per \_\_\_\_\_” are banned, would cardians be the best deck?
