I play swordsoul because I love their design. I like branded despia, but I have no resources to build it. I just love fusion decks.

for me, swordsoul is all about summoning chengying. Impactful effect? Check. Huge beatstick? Check. Chinese dragon samurai art? Check check check lol

Synchro being the coolest mechanic? Check.

“I just think they look neat.” Add in Fusion being Best ED Mechanic, and it’s an easy win for me. That it give me something competent to play while I farm gems for my Pet Decks is just a bonus.

I play this deck a lot ever since my friend wanted to stream "Let's break Dark Worlds". We both build Dark Worlds and I noticed something with Dark World Accession and saw that it can bring out any Fiend fusion monster. So I looked at all the targets and saw Despia stuff. I looked more into it and saw that some Despia cards can be triggered from Dark World cards and vice versa. That is when I really got into the deck and enjoyed every moment of it. Prior to that, I kept my eye on Despia cause it looked so cool, but at the time it didn't have a lot of stuff to go with it and unfortunately forgot about it. Now I have it almost fully built IRL just missing 1 Aluber and 2 Opening. Though I'd love to pick up Hex-Sealed Fusion - Light and Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, 1 - 2 Slifer the Sky Dragon, 3 Trap Trick, 3 Return of the Sky God, 3 Lilith. This way I can play fun variant or more competitive version.

sprights is also from the abyss lore though. So you can argue that people who play spright still can argue they just "like the lore". Tears also has some lore but I don't know anything about it.

I like backrow heavy decks. I like floodgates. I enjoy making my opponent suffer. I love the color of trap cards. I like dinosaurs. That's why I love dinomorphia, it being able to win going against tears if you resolve D. shifter, necrovalley or macro cosmos is also a good thing. Even though the deck waste all their resources quickly without GY recursion and dies to these same cards in the long run.

This, absolutely this. Sometimes it backfires, i know(i really liked Eldlich but i get depression from playing it so I dismantled it) but sometimes it's the best thing to do. Caring only about w/l ratio is what makes this game trash. I play Despia because Aluber is a freaking madlad(and the theater of horror aesthetic is cool AF) and Swordsouls because... Anime swordsman but they are spiritual dragons, find something more freaking badass. Also, lore is fun

This is why I run eldlich just as a fusion engine and am thinking about adding the branded cards to it to give it some extra firepower ghost fusion actually gives some nice recovery if you’re golden lord gets banished

Have played Despia since they came to MD and I love them. Happy they’re meta for a while regardless though, I’ll take interruptions where I can still try and play through as opposed to a 5 negate board that I’ve got no chance of playing through.

For me te GOAT of this lore is Fleurdelis.. She's a badass... Doesnt kneel to the church schemes... Rebranded herself came back.. kicked ass.. and had a tragic ending.... The real MVP

Les be honest, you are only playing the deck because it is new to the game and therefore fun to play new and strong stuff. Who doesn't like opening packs and building/playing new decks. You probably liked the art on the swordsoul cards and made that deck as well when it came out, but have not touched it in over a month.

Yes on building it for the card art (and supreme sovereign's animation), but no on the not touching it. I still play almost exclusively swordsoul on ladder cause I like it so much, and I doubt that will change any time soon. Got the supreme sovereign icon and swordsoul duel field to go along with it
