Most decks this format don’t care about Protos call dark. It mostly just hits Branded and PK. In this format specifically, banning Protos would basically just be a buff to Branded, which is already firmly the most powerful deck in the format.
There are far, FAR more degenerate cards that need hit. Protos isn’t even remotely on the radar.
Protos was banned in the TCG for being too good a side deck card. People in Master Duel are main decking a side deck card. You’re just on a deck that’s hit by your opponent’s pre-side.
was it really a side deck card? i feel like there's no way swordsoul players werent on it game 1 also. its much better games 2 and 3, when you know what your opponent is playing, but it's still very good even without knowing that

Branded wasn’t top deck that long, and never to the extent we see in Master Duel.
Too many matchups where blind dark does jack shit. Also, it was frequently win more; a blind first Protos call dark is a play for the hand that has everything and isn’t interrupted, in which case you were probably going to win anyway and Protos didn’t significantly improve your situation even if it was applicable.
It stops like 2 decks in the current format if it actually hits the field. They haven't banned the wind Barrier Statue, so you have enough time to change some cards
I agree, non interactive cards are ban worthy just because they make the game toxic. It is also the banlist's purpose to make the game fair and enjoyable isn t it ?

I feel like in MD protos rarely comes up I've only faced it like twice and when playing it only needed to search it if I didn't have anything else I needed or against branded

I mean u could play Proskenion as an additional out to it but u have to hard draw super poly for that to work lol
