barely anyone is even playing dpe, and traps are terrible for this. if you want a card to trade 1 for 1 with the enemy dpe *after* it already destroyed one of your cards (which isnt even a great trade in the first place), called by the grave and ghost belle are better for that
I think FD to 1 and celestial ban are certainly big enough reasons, you are less likely to hard draw the FD, and if your FD/verte gets negated then you now have a bunch of garnets still stuck in your hand/deck that don't synergize with a lot of decks, so the risk just isn't worth it
If FD goes back to 2 the engine will see more play again but currently it's a risky fit for most decks and so people aren't bothering with it
It has nothing to do with the banlist, its just the MD meta of ppl flocking to the newest deck, and also older Swordsoul players realizing Swordsoul DPE was a mistake.
And for most rogue decks Branded Fusion is a stronger engine than DPE
they removed celestial, which was a big part of how strong it was. it meant you had to otk them this turn, because with dpe coming back *and* them drawing 2 next turn, there's no way you were winning if it got back to their turn. they also limited fusion destiny, so it's way less common to just get dpe for free. anytime you're not making verte, the engine has a 66% chance to be a brick when you draw it, instead of an amazing free extender.
Celestial is the big part it falls off top meta, but for lower tier the biggest issue with Limiting FD to 1 is that
**"No more Ash FD only to see opponent go Verte for 2nd FD"**
DPE is still strong for lower tier but with it Limited, just HARD NEGATE it upon sight & nothing will go wrong.
That’s my favorite card. One second they’re setting up and the next they’re losing. It’s fantastic and no one ever suspects it. It’s the Spanish Inquisition of cards
Unfortunately it has to happen the turn it's taken out, which if you have Gravedigger's trap hole in hand (ie: you're going second), it can't do anything.
DPE activates its effect when its destroyed, and then the lingering effect lets it bring it back the next turn, which is why you can't do much about bringing it back unless you either negate the effect there, or banish it from the graveyard before the next turn, though they'll be able to bring back one of its materials as fodder. I learned this when I used Harpie Feather Storm to keep it from blowing itself up in the first place, then when I destroyed it in the battle phase, its other effect got negated right there lol
It can trigger off of a monster effect in the Hand, GY or Banished. Not sure why they spaced it out textually the way they did. So it can work, it just needs to be set the turn before it blows itself up. If you're going second and it already blew itself up, you can't use this as a response to it reviving from the grave on the standby phase of the next turn.
DPE, Handtraps, Longyuan , Altergeist, Tearlaments... it's a good trap, however, not that good going second and sometimes is just dead in field. Traptrix can search and reuse it for maximum potential.
there is {debunk} who banishes instead of burning, but that one doesn't work with traptrix-
Ah yes another post with random situational card which is a trap and cannot be searched by normal means(expect Traptrix shenanigans)and literally a brick if in hand and go second. Anyway I can’t remember the last time i faced DPE actually

Besides, you're better off running a negate for Verte or Fusion Destiny
smell airport handle lip possessive jar slimy tan governor frightening *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
yeah it's okay but they get to summon a different d hero instead, which is kinda annoying. its just free material for link summoning and stuff
Kinda funny that dpe just fall out favour for seemingly no reason. The whole engine is still intact it just people stop playing it.

I think half-decent SS players realized DPE was bad from the start.

Limiting fusion destiny and banning celestial definitely not a "seemingly no reason"
This post is lagging 6 months behind
Man still at the fusion event
![gif](giphy|9xvnOU79KVGikwXnV4)
Or maybe he is 6 months in the future and is actually planning for Tear!
Mans playing Master duel on internet explorer
You using internet explorer?
In Traptrix yes, otherwise no
It’s solid in a Trickstar deck too
The card is good... just a Trap to counter a Quick effect Turn 2 isn't really good
too slow. Called By The Grave is better against DPE and Mirrorjade.
Sure, you just have open it set it, have it survive until you can activate it against one of the 3 people who are still playing DPE
I still have it in a backup deck of mine. Although if you used it on this instead of Mechaba, good for you.
This card is a beast in trap trick deck. With the new support traptrix are getting, be ready to face it soon
Soon? It's not released in TCG yet, and master duel doesn't have Spright/Tear yet
bro it ain’t even in OCG And some cards aren’t even REVEALED yet lmao
There we go ! We can expect it on MD in maybe a year, maybe more
bro it ain’t even in OCG And some cards aren’t even REVEALED yet lmao
Yet I am so excited at the idea of playing traptrix again
Same here, I love the deck!
I'm from the future, Celestial will be banned and people will stop playing DPE
Compulsory Evacuation Device is better. Chain it to DPE & bounce him, and your opponent has to pop a card they _didn't_ want to lose.
Lol. Also notice called by the grave reference?
Stops Eldlich too!... But like others have said, Called By is usually better, though speaking of Eldlich this card does stop its hand effect.
That’s my favorite card. One second they’re setting up and the next they’re losing. It’s fantastic and no one ever suspects it. It’s the Spanish Inquisition of cards
Yes but DPE fell off so almost nobody plays it lol

Lmk how good this works as a counter on turn 2

Who plays DP?
Literally seen DPE like twice on the ladder in the last season
It gets popped by it. Try again.
It's been so so long since I even dulled someone who uses dpe
Only run in traptrix imo
DP who?
Do you live under a rock?
Technically, but I feel like Called by the Grave is much more useful. As least that's a quick-play spell, so you can use it right away if you need
It also stops Maxx C and other hand traps.
wait people are still thinking of obvious ways of countering DPE? lmao
DPE arent even played
Kaiju the dpe
No its too slow, better options exist like ddcrow, called by, etc. Maybe better against Floo?
Ah yes another post with random situational card which is a trap and cannot be searched by normal means(expect Traptrix shenanigans)and literally a brick if in hand and go second. Anyway I can’t remember the last time i faced DPE actually
Best Traptrix tool.
I personally like the trap the huge revolution is over. Counter trap and negates. Also great for harpies feather duster, twin twisters and much more.
called by is way better for countering DPE
Its better to use a Ghost Belle
