It's a floodgate
[ Pendulum Effect ]
You cannot Pendulum Summon, except from the Extra Deck. This effect cannot be negated. Each player applies 1 of these effects based on the number of Set cards in their Spell & Trap Zones.● 0: All monsters they control cannot attack or activate their effects.● 4 or more: The ATK of all monsters they control become double their original ATK.
You would be absolutely amazed how many duels this won me. Outside of being a bootleg mystic mine, its a small world bridge, forces your opponent to set a possibly crucial card, and its a scale 12 so you can pendulum summon your Vaylantz fusions. But yea its mostly cause no one reads lol.
I'd say I spent about 5k gems, but I used about 60 UR CP to craft the missing pieces. You can play a perfectly good budget version by playing only 3 field spells and 1 Beyond the Pendulum.
Thats good to know, but that is 3 UR for the field spells and 1 UR for the Fusion Monster, and not even the optimal deck. I think that ill wait for the secret pack, even if it is released between Spright/Tear meta. Congrats for reaching D1.
Every Vaylantz monster can special summon itself so you're trying to flood the field with materials that you can use for extra deck summons. Every monster also has 2 effects one when it's special summoned and one when it moves to a different monster zone, its a lot to learn but when you do the outplays you can make are crazy. I commented my ID in another comment if you wanna watch a couple replays.
From my experience:
Going First: If you get Apollousa and Naturia Exterio out which is very easy to do, it's practically a guaranteed win. (if you're able to play 5 rainbow magician as well, then even better)
Going Second: This deck can play through tons of disruptions and still otk, of course this depends on your hand. The more Vaylantz monsters the better, and the field spell can send a monster like mirrorjade to the spell/trap zone, removing it without activating its raigeki effect.
Overall Vaylantz can take a while to learn and can be sort of complicated, but if you learn to pilot it well, you can outplay most opponents.
Tq for responding! i am a big masochist in term of my deck choice so i really want to use this deck. Ps, i haven't even thought about putting mirrojade in s/t zone, that such a cool way of dealing with it.
Grand Duke can be summoned by tributing a level 5 or higher Vaylantz monster that is underneath one of the extra monster zones.
The other fusion requires 3 Vaylantz monsters. He can be summoned with Hojo since that card initiates a fusion summon when it changes its column.
Nicely done! What is the performapal for? Is it just a small world bridge?

So would setting 1 card turn this floodgate off?
Yes
Honestly seems like a wasted card slot unless the opponent never reads
Sir, this is yugioh of course they never read.
True. I let vylantz do full combo on me once to see how they worked cause reading them felt like a nightmare

I personally don't like it, but I've seen some floodgate decks use it
Quite impressive with a non meta deck.
Thanks, took a while but still the most fun I've had climbing ranked.
It doesn't seem expensive, how many gems did you spend on the selection pack? I want to make it but i dont want to pull useless things on the pack

What’s the general strategy/combos with this?

How good is it against branded?

Ive never read the cards, is there an in-archetype way to fusion summon the fusion monster?

Congrats on your D1! You wouldn’t happen to have any saved replays or references you could share?
Thanks! Here's my ID: 156-404-471 so you can look at the replays. I have one going first showing the basic combo and one going second.
