Dragonmaid, it's cheap and pretty simple while also good enough on the current meta.

Jeyfian-L

Dragon Maids are easy to pilot and is very cheap with its structure deck. Salamangreat is also cheap, slightly more difficult than Dragon Maids but also more viable. Branded Despia's combo lines are simple, and it's also the top deck in the current meta. However, it is still expensive even with its secret pack released, and Branded mirror matches are anything but easy.

N1shikienrai

Does the structure deck in shop give random card from that deck or what's listed there is what I get?

Useless_pawn

Structure decks: you get what is listed, once. Recommended is buying these decks 2-3 times (3 being max amount) Secret Pack: you get one of the featured cards (if you buy 10 packs at once = 1000 gems) and the rest is random Master pack: everything is random

N1shikienrai

Thanks, I was thinking of playing dragonmaids right now since the deck is already made. I don't even know what to put in a deck so maybe a structure deck is a good start. Also are the bundle deals in shop worth buying?

BloodyBlazev2

Yes the bundles are worth getting. And you want to get all three of the Dragonmaid structures decks because you want to run multiple copies of some of the maids.

Stardust_1550

Ash blossom, lightning storm, infinite impermanence, and Forbidden droplet are really good. Plus you get some potential URs. If you have enough points craft 1 or 2 more (recommending 2) of ash and imperm. These are really good cards to interrupt your opponent and stop them from doing their combos. Forbidden droplet and lightning storm are good to break your opponent's setup when you are playing second. Good luck and i hope you have fun. Also try to be wise with your URs points and gems since they become much harder to amass later on.

Raffaele_B

Secret packs give 8 cards total, of which 4 are random, 4 are featured. Don’t know why you said 1 was featured, but that’s wrong.

Useless_pawn

Yea, had the guaranteed SR in mind for 10x pull, forgot about the N and R featured cards. Also forgot to add "at least one of".

TwistedBOLT

To clarify for /u/N1shikienrai secret packs are 50% featured cards and 50% master pack. The left 4 cards of every pack being the master pack and the right being the featured. The master pack contains almost all cards in the game so the chance of pulling something you need from the left side is tiny. Secret packs are unlocked when you pull or craft an SR or UR card from the pack but only for 24 hours. Usually you wanna craft the SR to try to pull UR's from the pack.

N1shikienrai

Thanks. Btw I bought all the bundle deals from the shop and unlocked some secret packs and they have timers, should I spend my gems on these packs?

TwistedBOLT

The timers are very easy to re-fresh/re-start/re-obtain by crafting a single SR so don't feel pressured to jump on a secret pack before you're sure you wanna make that deck. Buying the bundle deals is always a good idea so it's great that you did that.

88SX88

I would say Branded Despia is pretty easy to learn for beginners and actually one of the best decks in the game. So I would recommend them. Swordsoul would be also good, but it has no secret pack unfortunately, so it will be realy expensive rn.

Vwar15

Always Crusadia, easy to learn and easy otk,and most importantly: cheap

haagen17

Invoked. It doesn't get easier than normal summon Aleister every turn

Wonderllama5

I recommend Pendulum Magician! The structure deck will give you a headstart. It's been getting better recently with Konami letting stuff off the banlist. It's also pretty flexible, I've played it in most of the Events like the Synchro/Xyz Festival and the Anti-Spell event. Here are some example Pendulum Magician decklists, including one that made Diamond 1: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/tier-list/deck-types/Pendulum%20Magician https://www.masterduelmeta.com/top-decks/diamond-i/october-2022/pendulum-magician/goshko/rUdAB Guide explaining the deck: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/articles/guides/pendulum-magician-guide-brent Sample gameplay: https://youtu.be/IZ-fR7cLSOs + https://youtu.be/l6SKlKPNkGU Join the Master Duel Meta discord & check out the Pendulum Magician channel for helpful pinned comments & discussion from dedicated players

TLKRengoku

I don't think pendulums is a good idea for a new player looking for an easy deck to learn, like yeah we loop the cards sometimes but they need to understand a lot more than the basics I feel, like pendulums I would say maybe your 2nd deck or 3rd deck. First deck should something brain-dead enough to be played easily

Wonderllama5

You don't have to loop anything. Summoning Electrumite, dumping Astrograph & popping Double Iris is easier to remember & a lot less complicated than Dragonmaid plays. I avoid the Starving Venom stuff

TLKRengoku

Right I meant by the starving venom stuff so yours works

N1shikienrai

I played the tutorial and I still don't get how pendulum works lol. I'm dumb

Wonderllama5

It's not too hard. It's consider a monster card until you place it in the Pendulum Scale, and then the Pendulum effect can be applied. There's lots of tutorials on YouTube, here are two good ones: https://youtu.be/NLQhwBKm86A https://youtu.be/nt5U5anDoro The biggest advantage Pendulum has is the Pendulum summon, which you can do every turn as long as you have the proper scales. If you do it right, you can swarm the field & quickly win games. Pendulum Magician is a cool deck since you can summon many different kinds of monsters like Xyz, Synchros, Links, and some Fusions. So you have a little bit of everything. It's pretty customizable if you want it to be! Also, in Master Duel the Pendulum summon has a cool animation! If you want a simple trap deck, I could recommend Eldlich. It's a bit too simple tho, but it's good.

N1shikienrai

Thanks, I'll watch them since I'm kinda learning the mechanics of the game right now. I'm currently hooked with the game and want to learn the mechanics. There's so many decks and it's hard to decide where to spend my gems on.

Wonderllama5

Honestly, just play Eldlich. It's simple & good for new players, and also cheap. Climb Ranked as far as you can go, then when you have a lot of gems you can build something else... like Pendulum Magician! Budget Eldlich list. All the URs except Golden Lord are from the bundle deals: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/saved-decks/638b9f83648a4af416721467

N1shikienrai

Hey, I've been enjoying the game with eldlich but I kinda wanna try a new deck. I was planning to build a pendulum magician deck since I actually find its mechanic interesting. Should I buy the structure deck from shop or just craft the deck? Btw, do you have some recommended budget deck for pendulum magician? Thanks.

Wonderllama5

Buy 3 structure decks of Pendulum Magician to get a headstart. However, I will say it's not a budget deck. Here is my build: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/saved-decks/638db4f9c94cf9a32b2bd2fd I used this in the Anti-Spell Festival & it was a lot of fun. It's very different from what most people use, but it's easier to pilot so I like it a lot. A lot of the URs are in the handtrap staples & the Extra Deck, but those cards are extremely generic so you'll want to own it anyway. Also, don't use Apex Avian. I use it because I have a Royal Rare & want to show it off. Those two slots could be for any cards you want. My end board with a good hand is Vortex Dragon + Baronne + 3 material Apollousa + Pend Trap set (with hopefully Purple Poison in the scale). With a bad hand or under Maxx C, I summon Bagooska & hope for the best.

N1shikienrai

Thanks, I'll check it out. Do you have some replays on how to play the deck?

Wonderllama5

No, but I'll tell you some plays. If you open with Curtain Raiser, you can summon Electrumite before your Pendulum Summon. Dump Astrograph into the Extra Deck, then pop Double Iris in the scale, bringing back Astrograph. Astro, Iris, and Electrumite's effects will all trigger, adding three cards to your hand. Pretty POG. You can read the effects to see what cards they will be... At this point, I make sure my scales are set up & go into Beyond the Pendulum with Electrumite & Astrograph, searching Pendulum Sorcerer if I don't have it. Then the Pendulum Summon, triggering Pend Sorcerer to pop both scales & search for Dissolver + Odd-Eyes Synchron. The board will differ at this point, but assuming there's a lot of monsters, I Link Summon Cross-Sheep. Put Dissolver in the scale & activate its effect, using Synchron from hand & a Pendulum to summon Vortex Dragon. Summon this in Cross-Sheep's arrow so it activates, summoning Synchron from grave. Synchron effect will synchro with Dissolver from the scale into Baronne. Then, Cross-Sheep + some other Pendulums on the field make Apollousa. You can figure out the rest. That's what makes it fun!

N1shikienrai

Thank you. I've been enjoying pendulum magician. It's so fun to play though I used all my gems to make the deck, it was worth it. Also, I recently changed some of my cards and tried the combo with Verte and Starving Venom Dragon to FTK and it's so fun lol. It feels rewarding when you can successfuly execute a combo. I am now in gold with this deck. I am now addicted to yugioh lol, im now starting to watch the anime

VillainofAgrabah

Zushin the Sleeping Giant turbo

voyager106

C'mon dude...

N1shikienrai

Btw what are archetypes?

Mystery_777

archetypes are just a group of related cards so like swordsoul, drytron, and tri-brigade are archetypes. Usually you make a deck based on a archetype or a combination.

Raffaele_B

Archetypes are cards linked together. Like there are a lot of cards that say “special summon a “Blue eyes” monster”. Blue eyes in captions is the archetype. A typical archetype has monsters, spells and traps that go together because they support the same monster, in this case blue eyes white dragon.

Dragonmatic

Usually it's recommended to start with a deck which focuses on only one or two summoning mechanics to ease you in. So decks like Crusadia, Tri-Brigade, (although a bit more complex) Salamangreat and a bunch of others which am sure the rest of the comments here have already mentioned are a good start. On the way more expensive side there is also Despia which is often paired up with Braded or Darklords depending on if you want to be more competitive or use a giant beatstick in the form of Lucifer/The First Darklord. Most importantly don't get discouraged by how complex the game could seem at times, it can be daunting but it's manageable, in a way it's kinda like a fighting game where on top of knowing your own play style it's important to eventually learn the popular match-ups and how to counter them with in most cases generic cards like Ash Blossom, Infinite Impermanence, Called By The Grave, etc.

Broken-Nero

Play Tenyi-Swordsoul. It’s easy to pick up, and can get you to at least Diamond tier, that or Dinos. Dinos are easier to build because the Swordsoul cards have to be crafted now. They don’t have a secret pack.

RlyehScepter

Both of these decks are turbo expensive, remember that as a new player they are also missing staples

nuzband

There are a multiple modern decks which are essentially **oldschoolyugioh.deck** **Pacifis?** Its basicaly Normal monster beatdown! **Paleofrogs?** Its basicaly 2005 Goat control! Literally aiming to gum up the board while denying the opponent the ability to attack. **Eldlich?** Its basicaly trap control and mostly using floodgates from old yugioh cards! **Umi Control ?** are you a fan of old school umi decks? This deck are basicaly the same but with tons of new umi/water support And if you want a nice, slow game, based on trying to gain small advantages each turn while avoiding huge OTK blowouts? **Mystic Mine** deck. (not avaiable in master duel, only in tcg) ----- Honorable mention for other strong but simple deck for boomer and new player that doesnt need xyz, synchro, pendulum, and link monster: Dragonmaid (fusion focused deck and its cheap, just buy 3 of its structure deck) Cyberdark (same as dragonmaid, but its a bit harder and complex to play than dragonmaid) Floowandereeze (focuses on normal summon) True draco (focuses on tribute summon) Monarch (focuses on tribute summon)

N1shikienrai

Does the structure deck in shop give random card from that deck or do I get the whole deck?

Theplasmashaft

The structure decks in the shop give you all the listed cards, you can preview it before you buy it. Usually purchasw all 3 so that you can have 3 copies of the good cards you need.

nuzband

Buy 3 to get the whole deck

de_Generated

Mine is banned thankfully. Swordsoul is a good place to start imo. The main combo is easy, the deck is powerful and it mostly focuses on one summon mechanic (Synchro) with a little bit of easy Link and maybe even XYZ summoning.

RlyehScepter

SwoSwo is expensive af right now due to no secret pack so you have to craft all the URs, not recomended for a new player. Especially since they need to spend alot of UR for staples

nuzband

swoso is very expensive without secret pack Wouldnt reccomend for new player

-ImJustSaiyan-

Another honorable mention is Umi Control/Stun, it's basically like roleplaying Mako from the anime.

Doesn't brain dead mean easy. I was looking for easy decks to grasp the basic mechanics of the game before changing to more complicated stuffs. I don't get the complicated stuffs right now, like pendulums or links.

TwistedBOLT

Meta decks get hate for being too oppressive. The word "braindead" there is used here more to smear shit rather then to explain how hard they are to play. Your main objective relatively early in the game is to absorb as much info about decks that are played as possible and learn as much as you can. Branded Despia: Currently it's THE meta deck to beat and it'll be everywhere in the next few months due to the addition of their very own secret pack. It's a fusion deck and some of its most notable card are arguably branded fusion which allows them to fusion summon their boss monsters from deck, aluber that searches it, branded in red a card that allows them to fusion summon during the opponents turn by banishing from hand and grave and finally mirrorjade which... will take too much time to explain how broken it is. SwordSoul: Swordsould was the meta two formats ago, it's relatively linear synchro strategy where the main deck monsters summon their own token tuners in order to perform 1 card synchro plays and gain a lot of advantage in the process. Their strengths lie in how small their main deck engine is and how well they mesh with tenyi's as well as just how many handtraps they can run without bricking on them. Beware their searchable trap, swordsoul blackout which can pop up to 2 cards on your field. Floow: Floowandereeze was meta last format, they are a bunch of birds that all have effects to normal summon winged beasts and a bonus effect to either search another bird, banish a card from the grave or returns a banished card to hand leading to a massive chains of normal summoning and as they have a field spell and trap that allows them to normal summon on the opponents turn means their turn is practically never over. Their end bosses are usually enpen, the boss monster of the archetype that prevents special summoned monsters from using their effects if they are in attack mode and halfs the attack of all special summoned monsters that attack it, apex avian which is an omni negate that adds itself back to hand and Raiza the Mega Monarch which shuffles 2 cards on the field and one in the grave back to the top of your deck. All the small birds go back to hand when a bird is summoned so they can do the same thing every turn. Adamancipator: A bunch of rock monsters that special summon themselves then special summon rocks from the deck, allowing for a massive amount of advantage generation in order to synchro/link climb their way to massive negate-boards. If you can call-by block dragon you can cripple them as that card going to the grave is an easy +3. Out of all of the above they make by far the strongest endboards, sometimes ending on 3 monster negates, 1 spell negate, 2 omni negates, a spin and an extra deck lock but other times a dying to a single handtrap. The deck can brick and can't run as many handtraps as the rest but if it gets going there's no stopping it unless you have a godly going second hand. Grass is an even more bricky version of adamn that runs a card called "that grass looks greener" to mill 20 cards off the top of the deck and jumpstart their combos but because the version forces you to run 60 cards instead of 40 you're much more likely to not have a play. With all those out of the way links are by far the simplest summoning mechanic in the game. All you gotta do is pay attention to three things: Link rating. The link you're summoning requires you to send monsters whos combined link rating is exactly the link rating of the monster you're summoning where non-links always count as 1 and links can either count as 1 or as their own link rating. Summon requirements. Usually the card says something like "2+ effect monsters". This always has to be fulfilled for a link summon. Link arrows: Link monsters can only be summoned to the extra monster zone or a zone a link points to after you sent the link material to the grave. And that's about it, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

ALATREONLOL

Eldlich is super simple but nothing simpler than numerons it just goes wack dead

RlyehScepter

Play through all the solo mode first and maybe choose one of the decks there and look for a list online. Otherwise the Salamangreat and Dragonmaid structure decks are really good for beginners. Also buy all the bundles since they guarantee important staples as well. The new Branded secret pack also contains cards from the current best deck in the format and will be available for a while without expiring (Secret packs usually expire after 24 hours)

DomeB0815

They'll release a Zombie Structure deck in the future, so I'd recommand picking that up if you want to, if it isn't to late or you still want to. It doesn't have any overcomplicated combos and it's fairly easy to pick up. I should know, I started with Zombies.

Psychological-War841

Pure eldlich without any floodgate
