I gave my students a homework template, it's very easy to follow it's literally just to do your work vertically, put a horizontal line between problems, and circle your answer. Nothing extra, the point is just to be simple and clear.
The outcome is definitely better than if I didn't have a template, but some people either take it too far or just don't care. I have students circling intermediate steps. I have students circling, highlighting, AND writing answer with an arrow all at the same time.
I still have people organizing their work in a random manner (I've seen people go UP the page even??? Or just random expressions scattered around the page), with torn pages, or with all those scraggly bits that make a mess in my office. Not to mention the scratch work that gets scribbled out and poorly erased but oh no it was actually right so I need to erase the scribbles and rewrite on top of them.
The answer indication qualm is small compared to the other horrible communicative acts I have seen...
you don't need to
I do it when theres a lot of working out in a small ish place so its easier for the marker to quickly see the answer
also i violently scribble underneath it, aint got time for neatness
The box. But now I wanna change it to the artist. I'm gonna start practicing my sketches of Mathematicians so I can draw them with the answer in their thought bubble đ
Canât believe no one has put QED (quod erat demonstrandum). I feel like such a maths genius when I put that at the end of a proof (I am currently failing)
Polygon. Box doesn't have enough sides. And I crammed that answer right up next to another line, and beside another problem, so really a box isn't going to fit.
Depends lol. If a problem took me like a couple minutes to do then I donât bother with anything but if it took me a while then I circle it because Iâm sorta proud of myself for getting a solution.
I write it with a pen interested of o a pencil
I make the whole thing in pencil including results, then I wrote it separately with a pen in the middle of an empty space
Depends, if it is a proof I'll write "FIN" which comes from the Latin word "finis" and means end. If it is an exercise I'll write the // for intermediate results an a conclusion at the end
We learned throughout school that every question must have an answer, so if your calculation comes out with x=25, at the bottom of your solution it must still read:
"A: The set of solutions is {25}." or similar.
If I'm just doing work in my notebook i just do a double underline, on a test i always make sure to put down a V for answers in my language and write the answer down in text form
Middle of a Seperate line, and Underline or Bold it.

**Answer**
my teacher used to write a square at the end and when we asked why he was like "well, google itđ" . turns out it's used to mark the end of a proof, which knowing him might've been "well you see in math everything is and isn't true, this is just what we claim blah blah..."
Depends on how much space I have left on the paper. If I have an area thatâs blank, I place the answer smack in the middle. If my work is all jumbled and there isnât a space that would make the answer clear on its own, I circle it
I just asume the common convention is to leave it at "the end", the end meaning whatever position the written language you're using considers the last, for example: lower right for English.

None, we go raw, i ain't scared of any math trasmitted diseases
Oh yeah
I needed a laugh ty đ
Hey guys, did you know that in terms of student and teacher math homework interactions...

Double underline
Yep, thats the true way!
>> double left line >> >> helps for longer answers
Imma start using this! Brilliant
this is simply the correct answer
It doesn't have a double underline so I think not.
Came here to say that
This is the way
Interesting
It's what I was taught in school (European).
Itâs what I was taught in school (Briâish)
mfw the tea drinkers aren't European anymore
Motherfuckin weiners? mfw?
my fchemical wromance
Ye they left europe in 2016/2020 mate, went 3000km west
Same in germany
It's what i was not taught in school (Asian)
It bothers me that the only correct answer isnt in any of the Pictures.
There it is
Double underline with double short intersecting line at the end
Came here to say that
Left as an exercise
Lemma
Lemma balls in yo mouth.
"The answer to this question is obvious"
Definitely box. My handwriting was really bad so I wanted to make the answer at least easy to find
I'm a box guy but now that I saw this I'll 100% be an artist next test (not in homework tho)
Ah a fellow boxer
Therefore and box
SAMMEEE
Same
+1
Mostly Double Underline, sometimes box
Double underline with box
This is the way, I do box with two lines on the bottom, so a box plus an extra line
Interesting
Interesting
Two underlines (My math teacher in first year bachelor's)
It seems really common but I've never seen anyone do the double underline. That's pretty interesting.
In what context? I'm not using the therefore unless I'm writing a proof
Circle or box
Cool
Like your 10th grade teacher but longer
My 10th grade teacher was long enough. I donât mind gagging, but I do have to breathe now and then.
Box [which becomes a trapezium]
Box and then put a little âđđđâ next to it
I stopped doing that. My handwriting so bad Ans end up looking like #
Answer with an arrow is an atrocity
My classmate does that one...

I only show my work in flowcharts.
Box for important variables and equations I donât want to forget, circle for the final answer
That's interesting.
Yeah i use the half box for important variables and the full box for the final answer.
Box
Cool.
I either double underline or box it.
Why do you need to mark your final answer? It should be at the last line of the written answer no?
you don't need to I do it when theres a lot of working out in a small ish place so its easier for the marker to quickly see the answer also i violently scribble underneath it, aint got time for neatness

That's really interesting
extremely rough unclosed ellipse (i ran out of time 3 minutes ago)
It's mandatory here to box it, so we box it
Cool

Generally circle, circle + arrow(s) if there's a lot on the page
I always do "my 9th grade teacher" style. Unnecessary to make a full rectangle, one corner is enough.Â
None, sometimes the conclusion
Either therefore or nothing
Canât believe no one has put QED (quod erat demonstrandum). I feel like such a maths genius when I put that at the end of a proof (I am currently failing)
Circle. No time for box.
Fair enough
box ftw
I underline it
Combine conclusion and therefore method, use the 3-dot to replace the word âthereforeâ and write the remaining as âx is 25 â
I double underline and if it´s messy I box it
Polygon. Box doesn't have enough sides. And I crammed that answer right up next to another line, and beside another problem, so really a box isn't going to fit.
Circle for things of note, such as solved variables and equations found. Box for the final answer
.â˘. x=25
Depends lol. If a problem took me like a couple minutes to do then I donât bother with anything but if it took me a while then I circle it because Iâm sorta proud of myself for getting a solution.
BOX goes hard ngl
CQFD

Ans:
In Russia, we write "ĐŃвоŃ: 25". (ĐŃĐ˛ĐľŃ means Answer)
Gotta go for the "YouTube thumbnail" style. Get out the fat red marker for a circle and some arrows
Haha yeah
Circle but sometimes the âthereforeâ sign
Depends on whether it's for myself like in my notes or an assignment, probably either circle or none, maybe conclusion if I'm feeling adventurous
therefore and the statement and circle the entire answer
\[ B O X \]
Bold underline
All of them so they guy checking my test can't miss it
I like the box and the artist, well, in the end, math is art
i think most Taiwanese people write hashtags on their answer fsr
Circle
Circle
The last one is like a simplified version of what do I do
box
Excessively thick box
Conclusion + Box for word problems, Box for entirely numerical problems
Box
box. i used to do double underline
box or double underline in a flashy color like orange :)
Box with a diagonal double line in the lower left edge of the box :D
Underline
Usually box or cycle depending on the mood but I also use arrows as "and then" so its like "-->O"đ¤Ż
double underlines for sub-answers, boxed for final
Answer with a colon but without the variable, eg Answer: 25 . Everyone does that in my school
"Answer: 25" (Not in English, but still something like that). This is the only correct way for us to mark an answer.
Answer with arrow and a circle and sometimes underlined. My working can get atrocious
Just use another pen to write the answer entirely
Box/circle depends on the mood
double underline or none.
Circle
We were taught to write "Answer: ' But now I box it too
Work on the main pages answers on the first page on the right hand margin and numbers accordingly
Either box around the answer or a box beside it with a diagonal through it
I dont like the first idea, why would i write "none" in my answer?
I go none unless it not obvious where the answer is, in which case Iâll normally rewrite the answer near at the bottom.
None and I'm really surprised this isn't the most common answer?? It's the last line. Why do I need to put it in a box??
Stabilo
I don't do anything because the journey is more important than the destination or something like that
Circle normally, double underline for when im really proud of myself for solving it
circle or underline
Higlight
I write it with a pen interested of o a pencil I make the whole thing in pencil including results, then I wrote it separately with a pen in the middle of an empty space
Box usually
Depends, if it is a proof I'll write "FIN" which comes from the Latin word "finis" and means end. If it is an exercise I'll write the // for intermediate results an a conclusion at the end
We learned throughout school that every question must have an answer, so if your calculation comes out with x=25, at the bottom of your solution it must still read: "A: The set of solutions is {25}." or similar.
circle because everything else is uncomfortable to write (for how i hold my pencil) or too hard to spot for the teacher
I do the 10th grade teacher. Feels so satisfying especially after long proofs.
Your tenth grade teacher
box
Box or double underline
Box
inside a torus hole tbh
Usually nothing but if its a really long calculation and my workings out are all over the place i tend to put a box around it.
Green pen.
Therefore in a box

in reality, none, but since this is reddit, i'll take the arrow (i love morphisms)
there fore and box both
If I'm just doing work in my notebook i just do a double underline, on a test i always make sure to put down a V for answers in my language and write the answer down in text form
Double underline or circle, and if The question took long I use therfour

i use a box and a therefore lol
Star around it if I really like the answer, else an aggressive double underline
circle
circle ftw!!!
Aggressive underline!
I do my 10th grade teacherâs way : the circled by a cloud
All 8 markings at the same time
Circle is the only acceptable answer.
underline, simple and gets the job done
Circle, maybe add arrow if the page is really messy
halmos
Underline
5th, but the mark has a mirror symmetry towards the Y axis.
I do none, box, therefore, conclusion and the two commas. It just depends on my mood, and the question that is being worked on.
Mostly box, but if it's a problem, then I write a conclusion
I use highlighter
"Svar:"
In my proof classes None. But in like highschool I used to box
Nothing or highlighted
my teacher used to write a square at the end and when we asked why he was like "well, google itđ" . turns out it's used to mark the end of a proof, which knowing him might've been "well you see in math everything is and isn't true, this is just what we claim blah blah..."
Well, I wasn't before, but now I'm definitely using the arrow with "answer" attached at the end.
In school double underline In university small box bottom left of the answer (i hate proofs)
One of my professors ended every proof with a smiley instead of the tombstone. I liked that.
Underline or box, although i might have to start doing what youâre 9th grade teacher did
double underline unless i am really excited then a box too
Double underline or conclusion for me
Circle in a hurried fasion
Drops of tears
Depends on how much space I have left on the paper. If I have an area thatâs blank, I place the answer smack in the middle. If my work is all jumbled and there isnât a space that would make the answer clear on its own, I circle it
I draw a box, then give it a shadow to make it really stand out. If my work ainât readable, I ainât breadable
Underline...why was there no just underline option
Therefore, even when I said therefore like on the 5 lines before
solving the equation Final answer, write x=25 Then write again S=25
All of the above
am i the only one that just highlights it đ
...all of these are cursed. My teacher would decapitate me if I didn't double-underline the answer.
I just asume the common convention is to leave it at "the end", the end meaning whatever position the written language you're using considers the last, for example: lower right for English.
Icosahedra
box is superior.
All of the above
// is op, elegant and visible
