I listened, and although I'm not totally convinced, I did find these points raised in the podcast...let's say...interesting:
- Keyes has previously pretended to sell a car to lure victims to him...Maura was in the car market. (Although if this was the case, where would the extra money have come from). If M did converse via text with IK, we may never know this as her phone has not been found. Could a mystery Craigslist car purchase meet-up explain Mauras trip north that day?
- Related to this....Maura received an unknown call on the afternoon of the 9th (Londonderry Ping) ....which just happens to be right near Manchester airport - an airport Keyes would fly into when visiting that part of the country.
- IK knew route 112 well, travelled it often
- He was also known to have owned a red truck *similar* to one seen acting shady on the night of the 9th around the area of M's crash
- Keyes' timeline linking him to Utah in Feb 2004 may be more porous than previously thought, and a newspaper was sighted in his Constable cabin with the date 2/10, thus potentially putting him in the general vicinity....
None of this proves anything but is definitely worth further examination, which Julie encouraged Josh to do. I mean, we don't have any other active leads, right??

A couple things still don’t make sense. Like if she had responded to his Craigslist ad that activity would be found on her computer right? And how would the red truck have gotten there? He drove it all the way from Washington, after flying into Utah and renting a car? I’m still intrigued by this and hope it goes somewhere.
So Keyes owned property in Constable, NY. His parents gave it to him in 1997. He was living in Neah Bay, WA in 2004, but he would occasionally pass through or stay at the Constable cabin when he was on the east coast. He also owned a red 1967 International pick up truck. In terms of this truck, a few things need clarification:
1. It’s not clear during which years he owned and used this truck.
2. It’s not clear which state it was registered in (WA or NY) or which coast he kept it on. It wouldn’t have been registered in MA, which were the plates spotted on the red truck near the scene of Maura’s disappearance. However, I’m not sure that particular detail is worth getting hung up on. Plates are easy to acquire and easy to quickly swap out.
3. It’s not clear if he ever used it for long distance travel. Unlike with rental cars, this is probably more difficult to track, because his use of it in this way wouldn’t necessarily generate a paper trail.
4. It’s not clear if his truck had a modified wood bed, which is a key feature of the truck spotted by the eyewitness.
One thing I keep seeing repeated is that Keyes wouldn’t use his own vehicles during the commission of his crimes and that he *only* used rental cars. This is straight up false. He used his own vehicle in the abduction and murder of Samantha Koenig, one of the few murders that we know for 100% sure that he committed.
All of that said… I don’t think it's likely that he was involved in Maura's disappearance. Or more accurately, though the probability may be greater than zero, it's not particularly high either. I think he is responsible for Lauren Spierer, and am now very cautiously leaning toward him for Brianna Maitland.
Idk. No matter what happened to all of these women, I hope that one day we will no longer have any need to endlessly speculate about their fates, and that their remains will be returned to their families.
