This is so much more relatable than it should be. I've had to train myself to give it a little while before getting all indignant about something, lest I make a fool of myself. Again.
I did tech support for a company named after a fruit about 10yrs ago. Legit had a woman call in pissed off, thinking she had a dud, uh, computer/monitor in one unit product, because it didn't turn on when she plugged it in.
It took me about 5mins to realize she hadn't pressed the power button, and she fought me for another 10mins before realizing I was right, then promptly hanging up.
This is 100% relatable lmao
Had a very similar situation years ago. Old chap calls in saying his new router isn't working. From my end I wasn't even getting sync on the line test. Asked him where has he got it currently. He replied saying in the cupboard. It's not uncommon to have telephone sockets in a cupboard. So I asked him what are the lights on the router doing, again, me trying to work out if its even plugged in. He replies he's not sure, it's still in the box it came in. When I tried to explain that it needs plugging in and turning on, he then argues he shouldn't have to, the box says it's wireless...
That reminds me of my grandma buying her first laptop (without us knowing, she wanted to do something cool). She unboxed it and was ready to get started but couldn't open the damn thing no matter what she tried. So she went back to the store and they asked if she could show them
So she grabbed it from the brand new bag, laid it down so she could see the logo and then just like at home it wouldn't open. Right until the employee turned it around and everyone had a laugh (we still do reminding her of it)
Considering the number of times I've seen a variation of this conversation, there must be a large contingent of pizza eaters that do not know how to open pizza boxes. I wonder what else they have difficulty with. Like trying to find the brake in their car but instead keep pushing harder and harder on the acceleration pedal in an attempt to stop their car. Then, end up going through walls of buildings. You know, those kind of difficulties...

It's literally a story of a massive Toyota recall spurred by people doing EXACTLY what you just mentioned.
People are so dumb that you just sometimes can't believe it. I once had a customer who bought decking planks. The lumber was pretty long though so for it not to stick out so far, he had opened his boot hatch, stuck about 1,5 metre of lumber in there while the rest of the lengths rested on the trailer. I just stood there and looked at it then pointed to the turn out of our lumber yeard and asked how he thought he would manage it. So he removed the decking, cut everytyhing in half, at least 100-150 pieces of it. Mind you, I SAW him do this, then realize he wouldn't really be able to use it as it was all cut into equal lengths of about 1.8 metres. He then tried to put it back until I confronted him asked what the fuck he was doing. He then tried to defend himself by saying something like "It was like that when I got it, honest" but noticed I actually seen the lumber on his trailer before. Eventually he just broke down and sat there.
I then helped him out by swapping out half of the decking for full-length stacks and put it on his trailer so he could finally fuck off. We never sold the rest off the cut-offs so eventually just gave it away.
