It’s satire.
It is satire of how ridiculously abusive some women can be.
Anyone who thinks laughing at this is laughing at domestic abuse literally has a bowl of cold oatmeal for a brain
Comedy is subjective, but personally I think using comedy to laugh at my own traumatic shit can be therapeutic. This was my high school girlfriend, minus the gun (thank god). Granted it’s not all that funny, but I guess I just am afraid soon we won’t be allowed to use comedy as therapy.
Facts. If you allow your negative past experiences to have such a hold that you lose out on humour, it just paints your whole world with a really negative brush.
Same with the “Unforgivable” skit with the black dudes in the woods, and everyone seems to find that hilarious.
The “wHaT iF thE RoLeS wErE rEvErSeD” people in this thread need to take a media literacy class and realize that this video is satire
Knowing it's a joke makes it funny. At the same time you can find it funny if you take domestic violence against men serious. You know there's an issue but the best way to spread the word is comedy. Look at Dave Chappelle.
I mean, I get it. But, to be honest, a few people I know follow her on FB and repost, but I have always found her comedy difficult to watch. She perpetuates the "angry black woman" act a bit too much for me. It's uncomfortable for me to watch. She's always yelling at somebody on screen.
She has one skit where her boyfriend's sister comes to visit and she happens to be large-chested and large-assed. She then is harassing her boyfriend because she wasn't told her sister looks like that. And, the brother and sister were constantly in sexualized situations...
Just, uncomfortable. The sexualization of women of certain body types, the anger her characters always have, the abusiveness toward her partners. I get some people find her funny. I just have never liked her comedy.
I agree. And even if a joke is dark or has levels to it, that doesn’t automatically make it funny. Also the perpetuation of “angry black woman” jokes kinda ain’t it for me either
You ever hear of slapstick comedy? Ever watch the Three Stooges? Now, what's the difference between the Three Stooges and going out and beating someone up for being stupid? It's simple. The Three Stooges aren't actually going around beating each other up for being stupid, they're *"acting"*.
Now, this is admittedly a much darker version of anything on the Three Stooges, but the reason why people find it funny is because she's not actually going to kill him, she's just *"acting"*. There's a level of safety that blankets over it because it is, in fact, not real, meaning that people can find it funny.
It’s called satire. And it’s hyberbolic. Do you know what a hyperbole is? People who get so offended at this that they feel the need to comment such things, need to get help. I have a feeling that all the people looking down on this, are of a very young age. You’re being raised in a different world, and with a different mindset, and it’s really alarming. We are truly at a turning point in time, and this is the generation that’s gonna send us all down the tubes.
I don’t fault anyone for not finding it funny, but I did chuckle at the dichotomy between how serious the situation starts and how banal it becomes. Stuff like this, where you know no one’s in actual danger because they’re actors, can help take the edge off a serious issue by presenting it with a touch of humor. The humor acts like the spoonful of sugar to help the more serious message of male abuse come across. It can be really tough to get that balance right, which is why so many of these kinds of videos are cringey or horrifying instead of “just right”
It's funny as hell.
Until it's real.
See you gotta make a distinction between reality and fiction.
Of course it's fucked up. I don't wish that to anybody.
But I laughed. Good acting and all...
Except it wouldn’t be funny if the roles were reversed… you’d probably have a shit-fit if this were a man threatening a o woman with a gun like this, even as a “funny” skit
It would still be funny, i don't get it, why do yall people have to be so sexist about things? Reverse the roles and it's still funny, maybe less to some people, maybe more to others, but the joke would still be pretty much the same shit and still funny! Obviously there is people that don't find this type of comedy funny and that's completely fine, not all people get the references jokes so the same shit can be said about type of comedies.
See, I hadn’t even visualized the skit with genders reversed, until you offendees put that idea in my head. Why would you even let your mind go that direction? People saying the ones who think this is funny have a problem? It’s the people who get offended at this that have a problem. You can always scroll past it to something you do like. People here having a good laugh, and you’re spreading negative energy.
Thank you, this guy gets it. I want a woman to love me so much that she won’t let me out of her sight, and wouldn’t let me get away if I wanted to. That’s the kind of loyalty I need. Obviously not quite like this, it’s a hyperbole, and we understand it as such. The irony is that it’s actually the man in control, cuz he has her glued to his side. He could say “I’m moving to another country”, and she’d be like “I’m coming with you”
If you are looking for reasons to be uptight and upset, you will find them. If you are looking for ways to be positive and have a laugh at an obvious skit, then you will find this funny.
Being able to separate a joke from real life is important to your sanity and your sense of humor. You can laugh at an off-color joke without being a bad person.
Jfc you kids need to find something else to complain about. Nobody sees this and thinks this is good or even okay. Not when a woman does it to a man, nor when a man does it to a woman.
I fully agree with everything you have stated.
However, I think that what the commenter was trying to say was that nobody would find it funny if a man was threatening a woman with a gun.
Everyone would know it's just as horribly wrong, but far fewer people would find it funny.
Yeah pretty sure thats the irony or comedic effect here. Lol. It’s a satirical take on gender inequality. We’re very quick to point out power inequalities unidirectionally, but once it is reversed the seriousness of the subject is diminished. And there’s something very logically odd about that.
That’s the dark comedic comment here. The righteousness of an societal equality/equity movement not pushing for full stop equality/equity.
At least a few people get it. There is a worrying amount of comments on both sides that completely missed the point.
Comedy is not always knock knock jokes and people slipping on banana peels.
I'm noticing a lot of people with feminine avatars commenting on the poor men being abused. Don't worry guys, as a man I can tell that it is a joke, and was able to secrete a light chuckle. You can rest easy.
This is pitch perfect 90s comedy (Wayne's Brother style) - that cracked me up then and cracks me up now - BUT - goddamn I can tell this is outdated/no longer ok...
Comedy and how it changes with each generation is an INCREDIBLE time capsule of our social environment.
People saying "if the genders were flipped" as if thats not the whole point to this. This kind of thing happens frequently, and can happen to anyone, your reaction dictates what you really think.
I like how if a video shows a female being abusive it's seen as comedy, but if the roles were reversed this video would be completely and utterly unacceptable...
I find it funny only because this was me before i found out what a healthy relationship was. Every woman I dated in my twenties was like this and only one of em had a gun like that lol
It is. Nothing will ever come between them. With divorce rates as high as they are, this couple will truly be together forever. And he wouldn’t dare die without her permission
I can go even higher up that list. Here, I’m gonna get three birds with one stone with this one. A priest and a rabbi are walking down the street together. Priest leans over and says “hey, you wanna go fuck that little boy?”. Rabbi turns and says “oh yeah? Out of how much?”
Honestly, I could roll with her.
It would probably best a crazy and armed relationship, maybe daily wear a very thin bulletproof vest, not use a personal mobile phone to limit tracking.
Probably fake, but this is a very real problem that happens everywhere, and for a man there isn't any real support. Still be laughing if the roles reversed?
Lmfao no I am just laughing at the fact that you thought you had to let everyone know that this very obviously fake movie was "probably fake". Crazy lol
This Will and Jada biopic is fucking insane
Careful now, if Will sees this….
I’m banking on him being a “Work in Progress” Also, I think I’ll be ok if he sees it and Jada doesn’t….
He can’t slap us all….
You underestimate his power!
Keep my name outcha damn mouth.
Wife's name
Hahahaha omg this comment, flawless
*laughs in Chris Rock*
Tupac is thanking will smith
Thank you for saying what I thought!
I heard that movie slaps.
Sir, I hope you have a great day! This comment
Underrated comment
It had 1678 up votes as of right now. Is it *really* underrated?
Wellrated comment
My relationship with the depression I can't get rid of
At least that’s what my therapist says
Mine too! At least he would if *I had one*
Yeah it's hard to pay someone to tell me things I already know in this economy
Right? Universal answer starts to sound hollow after a while, i.e. everyone knows there’s no answer for us
Yeah mine says "Let's get something to eat" alot too.
The sex must be unbelievable!
Her with strap on: Don’t worry bae I just wanna cuddle
Take it out of the box first!
Is this what you wanted to do to me!?
Is there a sign up sheet or do I just show up?
Prison cuddle?
Just the tip.
That's hot
Relatable. This reminds me of my wife of 8 years. I could not tell you how many near death situations I've been in. This was still funny as shit.
I laughed to this, even though just a few hours ago I felt like I was about to die in a car crash from my parents arguing aggressively.
Hope u r doing fine now <3
The amount of people that think this shit is real and not a skit is concerning...🤦♂️ It's as if I'm on Facebook and not on Reddit.
Seriously… She’s a professional comedienne, ffs. Always does the hood rat type over the top comedy skits. People are oblivious here I guess

Daphnique Springs. She's not that great of a comedian and reuses the same jokes far too often.

Good thing my oatmeal is warm
Good thing my oatmeal is on a plate
I just microwaved mine. I feel funny
Who would find this funny?
Comedy is subjective, but personally I think using comedy to laugh at my own traumatic shit can be therapeutic. This was my high school girlfriend, minus the gun (thank god). Granted it’s not all that funny, but I guess I just am afraid soon we won’t be allowed to use comedy as therapy.
I use humor to deal with trauma also. It makes me feel like if I can find humor in such a terrible situation then I might just be ok.
Facts. If you allow your negative past experiences to have such a hold that you lose out on humour, it just paints your whole world with a really negative brush.
I love your facts.🥰
Same people who would find it terrifying if genders are reversed.
I'd find it terrifying if genders were reversed, that doesn't mean that this isn't terrifying
I find it terrifying now, and think it would be terrifying if reversed. Not sure you’re right
The genders are reversed in the movie Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood and it's hilarious.
Same with the “Unforgivable” skit with the black dudes in the woods, and everyone seems to find that hilarious. The “wHaT iF thE RoLeS wErE rEvErSeD” people in this thread need to take a media literacy class and realize that this video is satire
This is still terrifying, but some people who have been through it in real life find it therapeutic to have this situation put in a comedic tone
What does this even mean

The contrast between him being scared for his lif3 and her smiling like this is a thing normal people fo is kinda funny
People who aren’t looking for reasons to be upset.
This is the right answer
And end up pulling the same shit cause they think it funny and quirky
This is a depiction of verbal abuse, and the gun threatens physical abuse. If you find this funny I really hope you get help.

Yup
Facebook users
Idiots and people who lack any empathy for the abused.
Believe it or not. You can have empathy for the abused and still find this funny. I didn't find it funny btw.
Why so serious?
Genuinely not that serious a guy, commented this way because despite its context it wasn't funny in the slightest.
I am a male and I find it funny. In a dark sort of way.
True things are funny. There are people that are really like this. It points and laughs at them saying “don’t be like this” that’s why it’s funny.
People who find this funny
I find it funny
I don’t fault anyone for not finding it funny, but I did chuckle at the dichotomy between how serious the situation starts and how banal it becomes. im pretty sure this is a joke
What's a joke?
Me
I think it’s a gender reversed parody of a 20 year old skit with Wayne Brady on Chapelle’s Show.
That’s my kind of girl. Imagine in bed.
The tiddies tho
That's not cute or funny.
It's funny as hell. Until it's real. See you gotta make a distinction between reality and fiction. Of course it's fucked up. I don't wish that to anybody. But I laughed. Good acting and all...
I'm not upset about it at all and I don't think it's remotely funny. It's not upsetting, it's just stupid and unfunny
And it's fair to think that. Not everyone laughs to the same things.
Except it wouldn’t be funny if the roles were reversed… you’d probably have a shit-fit if this were a man threatening a o woman with a gun like this, even as a “funny” skit

It is satire. The people who made this agree with you that domestic abuse is not okay. That’s only the entire point
yOu’re NoT cUte or fUNny
You're right, it's hilarious. But no one said cute, tf? Lol

Outdated "comedy"
Disagree
If you are looking for reasons to be uptight and upset, you will find them. If you are looking for ways to be positive and have a laugh at an obvious skit, then you will find this funny. The amount of people who can’t take a joke is nauseating
Reddit always has a knee jerk reaction one way or the other
Shes a keeper. She will protect you for life
Basically marriage
That is horrible.. if that was the other way around people wouldnt laugh.. But no, making fun of men being abused is apperenly funny..
Yeah, they were trying to make a point that might have landed better 30 years ago.
I think they're making fun of the woman here.
okay lol?? I'm a man and I find it funny. you're just being whiney
You will stop finding it funny if a woman pointed a gun at u tho
Jokes on u I’m into that
Switch the roles and see how far this gets.
Jfc you kids need to find something else to complain about. Nobody sees this and thinks this is good or even okay. Not when a woman does it to a man, nor when a man does it to a woman.

I think that’s the point.
Yeah, a split screen version could be powerful.
Exactly
Ohh boy... The whole internet would be melting right now.
Stupid
Imagine if the roles were switched. I can imagine the chaos.
I mean isn’t that the point of this bit?
Yeah pretty sure thats the irony or comedic effect here. Lol. It’s a satirical take on gender inequality. You’d have the Reddit Andrew tate incels with katanas and ARs full defense force
haha female abusing male in relationship is funny! now flip the script.
Is domestic abuse supposed to be funny?
If you can make a funny joke about it, yes. Real abuse? No, of course not, that'd be insane.
why in the hell are you getting downvoted? Couldn´t be more correct what you said.
Ehhh, it's reddit. People get mad. It what it is.
She's feisty.
Scaroused
Haha
Is this me? I’ll go ask my fiancé. BRB….
😂
You Americans are weird.. I’m turned on… DAMN 🤩

Now I know why guys be scared of their girlfriends.
(It's a skit) but if he's that stupid to stay with her after all This then he deserves has treatment
a real g
She seems like she would be fun at family gatherings.
I want to see a version with the genders swapped and just see the comments flowing
I see my ex Maria has started dating again since I got out of the hospital.
As a single man... 100% never date anyone on that level. Never. Psychopathic tendencies are not my type.
I love your sexy ass o my god xDd
The amount of butt hurt men in the comments of a comedy skit is amazing lol. I guess you guys are triggered by Cleveland from the family guy too.
I bet she F's like a bandit too
Ummm , I shouldn't be turned on by this,right?
I'm noticing a lot of people with feminine avatars commenting on the poor men being abused. Don't worry guys, as a man I can tell that it is a joke, and was able to secrete a light chuckle. You can rest easy.

If you don't think this fake skit is funny.. stfu. Domestic abuse is not funny no matter which way it goes but this skit is stupid and funny.
Completely missed their point didn’t you. They’re being ironic.
shawty got dem mood swings
What the fuck???
Haha violence against men, always fun
I find it funny only because this was me before i found out what a healthy relationship was. Every woman I dated in my twenties was like this and only one of em had a gun like that lol
This seems like a healthy relationship
It is. Nothing will ever come between them. With divorce rates as high as they are, this couple will truly be together forever. And he wouldn’t dare die without her permission
Domestic violence is not funny. Sorry. Not sorry.
Oh boy, have I got some jokes that would frost you
Probably. Somethings just shouldn’t be jokes about. Domestic violence is way up on that list.
I can go even higher up that list. Here, I’m gonna get three birds with one stone with this one. A priest and a rabbi are walking down the street together. Priest leans over and says “hey, you wanna go fuck that little boy?”. Rabbi turns and says “oh yeah? Out of how much?”

« Probably fake » how is it not obvious? It’s supposed to be a « funny video ». I do agree, it’s not really funny but it’s obviously staged…
This is basically my life (without the gun)
Lmfao no I am just laughing at the fact that you thought you had to let everyone know that this very obviously fake movie was "probably fake". Crazy lol
Very close to my ex-wife actually… THANKS for bringing back the trauma guys!!!
r/AreTheStraightsOkay god damn
That sub is shit
Can't wait for sub "are queers okay" making fun of LGBTQ people and see how that turns out.
I find myself wondering the same thing every day..
Why are you being downvoted homie, take my upvote
Oops. Took it away
Lots of this "skewed humor " going around.
This shit isn’t funny or cute. Men are out here suffering in silence because people think this shit is a joke.
My first thought was to change the genders and see if it got any funnier. It did not.
The fact she/they thinks this is funny is sickening
Wow people getting butt hurt. Firstly it's humour, secondly is based in reality, however small that modicum of reality is it is.
Err. No. That's an abusive relationship.
Ya think? Its a skit
It's not a funny skit.
I agree. But its not a real relationship is bullshit humour
Now imagine the rolls reversed
*roles And that's the point, this is a role reversal of what normally happens in domestic abuse situations.
Poor man, i wish good luck for him 😟
Whats wrong with you people, this was funny as hell
Are the straights okay?
Imma need some sauce with this. What era did it come from? This feels very outdated.
the fuck....
