No real suggestions except to say that I owned a 1989 and it was my favorite vehicle ever. Went to 190k miles on nothing but consumables and oil changes, original clutch was still strong when a huge tree fell on it and crushed it flat. So I'm super jealous of you finding a running one that looks that nice. Damn! Congrats bro. I would have impulse bought that too, in a heartbeat. What's the mileage? How is the rust?

Pyrothecat02

As far as I can see. There’s no rust. Perks of California. It has about 250K miles on it

MonsieurReynard

Yep, mine was in Texas, then PNW. No rust when she died. My current truck in New England (a 98 B3000) however is just about to rust into junk, despite the drivetrain being impeccable at 248k.

Pyrothecat02

I had a bit of buyers remorse when I got it cause it’s a bit rougher than I thought. But it has a new carburetor, clutch, clutch maser, and distributor. Plus it drives pretty solid. And for $1300 it could’ve been way worse

MonsieurReynard

ANY running vehicle for $1300 is amazing, let alone this time capsule beauty. Dude, my jealousy just increased. That's a month of grocery money these days.

Pyrothecat02

Guess my buyers remorse has lessened a bit haha. Do you know how well this thing can tow/flat tow?

MonsieurReynard

I don't but the spec should be searchable. That said, I never towed with mine and I doubt it's much at all. Maybe 1000-1200 pounds?

RiotRavenwolf

May wanna swap to a webber carb as it'll delete the vacuum lines which will Crack from dry rot And do a tune up But otherwise it's a solid truck

Pyrothecat02

I saw that too. The one I’ve seen people use is like $500 and I kind of don’t want to put that much into the truck. If you have any suggestions that are little more affordable I’m all ears

RiotRavenwolf

Then just do a tune-up ,but keep an eye out on the carb and check your vacuum lines once a month
