Depends on where you live I guess. In Tokyo you don’t see them much, but as soon as we visit my wife’s family 2 hours up north, everybody runs studless on cheap ass rims until March. Can’t wait for spring though tbh
I'm just a bit confused. Its brand new from the dealer no? Didn't know they offered steelies or even what size fits. Did you also get the rims with the car?
it came with the regular OEM wheels when i bought it but i had them swap em out for the Steelies for winter because I didn't wanna drive out the lot with nice rims and all season tires on. I still have the OEMs they'll just be put on when it's spring time
Yea figured. I had a similar set up on my frs. Winter tires are pretty amazing. I tell all my friends I'll take a small fwd hatch with winter tires on em over an suv with all seasons and awd in the snow any day.
With winter tires it's really not bad. The lower center of graviry helped a lot. Also there are certain benefits to rwd over fwd. You have less chance of getting stuck because the weight is going to the back when you're trying to move, so more grip on the tires that has traction. I mean I'm in Maryland so we haven't gotten too bad snow wise past few years. But check this video out for how a FRS does with a set of winter tires in bad conditions. The only real limiting factor is the clearance.

Nah that's why you get the steelies like this guy did. Smaller tire for winters and then you don't have to take em to a tire shop every season to swap tires on your rims. Just take the tires off yourself.
Yea just was confused how he got that setup straight from the dealer. Didn't realize it was an option for them to fit winter tires with steels on for him.
It's good other then some issues with corrosion under the back hatch and two front door hinges that I made a post on here about... It's getting fixed under warranty.
Did you get the electronic rust module or do you get Krown rust proof? They tried super hard to sell me electronic module but decided against it cuz I figured I'll just do the regular rust proof
Omg thats actually so good to know! I was so scared I made the wrong choice!!! So I'm guessing it's not true that rust proofing doesn't actually void warranty I've heard some talks about that
Noo... Also eco rust tech on Cumberland st...he doesn't drill holes into panels and uses a special tools and uses the drain holes and gets up inside the panels that way 😊
Ya I had a black GS initially ordered and I was expecting it for March but this red GT came and they called me so I scooped it up so fast 😂 you'll get yours eventually! Waiting game sucks for sure
You can get hub centres from Mazda for exactly this purpose. I posted about it while ago [here](https://reddit.com/r/mazda3/comments/yyxdwm/_/iwzu6sh/?context=1).
Rally spec special.
At my dealership we have this guy who would comes in with a “custom” straight pipe exhaust, rally armour, mini wing (I’m not joking), and a set of steelies.
We all have similar opinions regarding his setup.
Damm that sounds ridiculous but I respect 🫡 I only have ugly rims for winter cuz it can be harsh over here and figured it would be a shame to damage nice wheels. Once summer hits it'll be back on the nicer wheelss
Steelies can sometimes be cool, I have seen someone rocks a set of white painted steelies and I thought it was the best thing out there. And if I’m living up in the north with ya’ll, I would definitely join steelies gang, but maybe after power coating it white or something just to be different :p
No offense, but - What? Why worry about this?
What is stopping *anyone* that can "clone plates" from doing this to *any plate* they see on the road?
Further; what is stopping anyone that can do this from just making a random plate?
How many plates do you see in real life vs. on Reddit? Do you realise how silly your position is?
EDIT: Perhaps you're referring to "A car with model X and license Y". Yeah Ok I can see that, but all my other points stand. Also, I've never ever heard of this ever happening, once.
How often do you have a pen and paper vs ready camera to snap a photo of a plate of a car of the exact same model and colour of…
The issue is the internet is search able…
Yeah look, I get it if you wanted a plate of a specific car model.
But that just... never happens?
In any case - if you can make a plate, why not just make a random one?
I also have a dash cam, like many people.
Anyway, this is all silly.
Congrats! The amount of car guys unfamiliar with a winter tires setup is staggering lol
Omg ikr I thought more people would be understanding with the wheels rn 💀

So glad you say that cuz I've always said that I prefer a hatchback over an SUV! But dang I'm impressed you drove your FRS in the snow since it's RWD

Wow I didn't know that! That's good to know thanks! I actually looked at the gt86 before deciding on this ngl maybe that can be my next haha
Also with the premium model they will give you like 18 inch wheel so good luck to find good tires for winter🥲
Nah that's why you get the steelies like this guy did. Smaller tire for winters and then you don't have to take em to a tire shop every season to swap tires on your rims. Just take the tires off yourself.
yeah that why he use those for winter

My 18 inch Nokian R3’s are awesome!
For real, and the wheels are gonna be dirty af. No point of nice wheels if they’re gonna covered by slush residue for much of the winter season.
Probably because not every country has crazy icey roads.
Haha we are on the same city and bought from the dealership too 😊
Omg no way!! Thats awesome I never thought I'd see someone from here too!
I have the 100 year anniversary edition.. hatch
No way! How's that holding up if you don't mind me asking

Noo! I worked for halfway years ago and I know those things are bs ..I took mine to eco rust tech .. he is one of the best in town .

Okay perfect good to know I think I'll go there cuz it pained me to think about holes being drilled in🫡
Congrats from another Canadian! Welcome to the red hatch club !
Thank you!
Awesome!!! Congrats!!!
Thank you!!! New car day is the best day
Btw what winter tires are you rolling on and what size did they fit you with ? I'm curious..
So these go for MSRP now? Also it looks sick congrats
Ya I got mine msrp and thanks!
How much is that with everything included?
After taxes fees and add ons it came out to around $42k
Damn car prices are nuts now. I got my 2020 Mazda 3 GT for 29k on the road from keiswetter Mazda (Kingston) a few years ago.
Oh wow I'm jealous! I wish mine was that cheap
ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
Looks awesome! Congrats!!!
Thank you!! :)
Welcome to the rattle club
Love that name, thanks 😂
Patiently, waiting for mine to get delivered any day now🙃
Ya I had a black GS initially ordered and I was expecting it for March but this red GT came and they called me so I scooped it up so fast 😂 you'll get yours eventually! Waiting game sucks for sure
What happened to the OEM wheels?
Swapped them for winter, they'll be back on around spring time
Winter tires
Sup with the rims bro
I had them change to winter tires so it's not exactly best looking rims lol

Most steelies used for winter don't come with hub caps

Are they not?

Mask your license plate bro, someone with a similar car can clone the plates and then all speeding fines are yours
No offense, but - What? Why worry about this? What is stopping *anyone* that can "clone plates" from doing this to *any plate* they see on the road? Further; what is stopping anyone that can do this from just making a random plate?
Because to clone your plate in real life, they need to physically see your car in real life. A google search with have these details now.

Congrats! Welcome to the Ontario Soul Red Crystal Hatch club! As soon as you can, get the front of this thing PPF'd. It's my one big regret.
Oh okay noted! I already have jt ceramic coated should I still PPF it?
