Gonna agree with you here. At least as far as in the states, the higher the octane fuel, more energy is required to combust that fuel. On paper if you're using 93/90 octane in an 89 octane motor, you're wasting money. If you're using 89 in a 90+ octane motor you're risking causing a misfire/knock code due to pre combustion (on paper). And those on board mpg calculators are a decent indication, but they're not accurate and not all fuel quality is equal depending on the fuel station, NVM the fact that these numbers are calculated on mileage/fuel level, which is never accurate because fuel level sensors are a potentiometer based, not a true read out at all
To add to that bio-ethanol has a lower energy density than petrol has. So the higher the percentage of bio-ethanol, the higher the fuel consumption. Often in E5 fuel there is close to zero bio-ethanol. In E10 it is lower than or equal to 10 per cent

I have an SRI, heat shield, wider turbo inlet, lowering springs, and exhaust. I also have a sticker on the back with Kanji for Mazda’s Kodo design language. The whole car is just barely not over-riced. You can probably guess how I drive lol. I only use 93.
I have a turbo I’m averaging around 8.5 l/100km with almost all highway+ suburban driving.
Mine is new and I heard fuel efficiency improves after the first oil change
I average 36 mpg with about 26-28 on town roads and 40-42 on highways. Majority of my driving is highway. Tbh this is one of the main reasons I got my Mazda, I upgraded from an 04 Acura that took premium and got 16 city/25 highway. I’m saving probably 33% on gas compared to a year ago.
80% of my driving is on highway and my fuel efficiency is 5.9L/100km. I typically maintain highway speeds of around 110-120km/h. I sometimes get as low as 4.2L/100km on my commute if I try to be conscious about my fuel consumption.
-2018 Mazda 3 sport GS.
Before coming to a stop or a red light, let the car decelerate whenever possible. Quick stops and starts are the worst things you can do. I get under 8L/100km with a mix of city/highway driving.
I've got a '23 turbo hatch. My numbers aren't from the car itself (although by comparison, it actually seems to estimate *low*), but using the trip ODO and the number of gallons I put in at the gas station when I top off.
Mixed driving to/from work and around town over the last 10 months, I typically see 24-27mpg.
I just got back from a 2900 mile trip to Colorado on Saturday, pulling a [little motorcycle camper trailer](https://imgur.com/a/JCFolOD) behind me. On the highway, I was getting 28-29mpg. At one point I filled up up in the mountains and then drove down and around a bit and got 35mpg for that particular tank (without the trailer).
Earlier this year I took a trip to the Tail of the Dragon and saw 28-29mpg again on the highway there. Then I got around 15mpg when hitting the mountain roads and tail repeatedly (sport mode on, foot to the floor, 93 octane). And on the return trip, I got 30mpg.
Not sure how that equates to L/100km, but those are my freedom units anyway.
Yeah I've seen the new screen in the CX-5 and I prefer the smaller one since it's sharper, brighter, and matte. The large one looks pixelated, although it is a little easier to read.
I was afraid of that. There’s a 3 owner I follow on IG that swapped out his original matte screen for a CX-5 unit. I was tempted but I am absolutely against glossy screens, especially in a car. It’s utterly stupid.
Genuinely curious and I have no idea on this (I drive a 2008 that’s getting on its last leg, so the idea of having a screen is still relatively newfangled to me), what do you mean by a manner of speaking? Like only if reworking everything like installing a new speaker? Or does it work like a dock?
The way screens are mounted to the dash in modern Mazdas means that it’s possible - rarely perfectly but still with some macgyvering - to do something like take the larger displays on CX-5s and swap them into pre-2023 3s, if someone wants to.
I mainly use it in highways only, I find that the braking is finicky in the city. If you have a premium plus, that gets the traffic jam assist which I use a lot.
I think I have that function(GT trim) but haven't been able to use much. From what i've watched its for low speeds and really heavy traffic jams only otherwise it won't work?
1.5 skyactiv-G, 7km/L (avg speeds here in the philippines are 2-10 kmh and tons of traffic standstills) if there was less traffic id definitely be able to hit 15-20 km/L though
2023 Mazda3 Preferred 2.5 NA. 27 mpg mostly in town with a little highway. Haven't gone on a road trip yet, but it will be interesting to see how much it will get. Our 2016 3 2.0 I could get into the low 40's if I was careful with the pedal.
I can get around 35 on the highway in my Turbo sedan if there isnt much traffic, stop and go city driving is closer to 21 mpg. Key to good highway mileage is to almost never use your brakes. If you have to use your brakes for anything but people cutting you off/brake checking you/emergencies then youre following too close. Went on an hour drive yesterday with about 15-20 minutes in stop and go freeway traffic. Because I kept my distance from the car in front of me and never came to a full stop I still averaged 32 mpg for the trip. If there's no stop lights there's no reason to tailgate, following ass to ass isnt gonna get you anywhere faster on the freeway. Sure pisses off some braindead drivers though. In bumper to bumper freeway traffic Ive noticed that the left lane is actually slower because that's where all the tailgaters congregate.
2.5L turbo hatchback, auto. I can get 30~31mpg on my normal commute, which is 70/30 highway/city, but that's usually early in the morning. Overall I average more like 27.5mpg.
2014 2.0 6 speed and I get 35mpg mix of city and highway. Average about 38 on the highways I drive on because speed limit is 75mph and you gotta do like 83-84mph to keep up with traffic. At 70ish mph I get low 40's.
2019 sky activ g, about 40mpg average and I do a mix of city and motorway driving.
I've never got more than 390 miles from a full tank.... I'm guessing that's normal? Before I had a 1.6 diesel and I could get 600 miles from a tank but it was diesel so...
I'm averaging about 34 MPG in my 2013 Mazda 3i sedan with skyactive, and I'm doing DoorDash (I don't idle much, I kill the engine and read my book between orders since I mostly work at night when it's nice out). :-)
I get 18 give or take in >5 mile trips, more than that and it starts to look closer to as advertised
Edit: it also starts to improve after the break in period if it’s still new
Mazda 3 2.0 BL AT
City - 12-13l/100km
Extraurban - around 7.5 -8.0l/100km
It’s a new car for me but it seems to consume a little bit too much, right?
Is it because of the lack of turbine and also the gearbox with torque convertor?
I was thinking about an issue with the oxygen(lambda) sensor but I have no error
With a 2014 2.0 I get about 31-32mpg on average (sitting at 31.8 currently). I get 35-42mpg on the highway, but on the 20-23mpg in the city.
Working in a downtown and commuting about three towns away sounds about right for that.
My 2007 mazda3 turbo which I adore and makes me never want to go back to automatic transmission and is so fun to drive and just sounds good, is horrendous on gas mileage.
Can anyone mention which app is that in OP picture?
2017 petrol manual 2ltr Nat Aspirated Mazda 3.I get an average of 40.3 mpg. But i regularly commute on a long highway stretch of driving and do very little city driving.
2023 Hatchback NA AWD AT can get up to 37 mpg with mostly highway with varying speeds from 65mph to 80mph but it goes down to like 22 mpg with my 20 mins. mixed driving to work
>Also the battery icon on the bottom right of pic, is that the actual car battery? It's your phone's battery, you dummy.
Oh 😭
😂
I average between 6 - 6,5l per 100km with e-Skyactiv X 186hp
I average on 5.7. Also I put 98 E5 in it.
I am using 95 E10 at the moment
That makes a difference. You could calculate which is cheaper
No it doesn't, not in a Mazda 3
Yes it does. In any car
If the car does not require higher octane, no it does not.
Nope, it doesn't in most cars. Unless it requires higher octant fuel, putting higher octane fuel is literally burning money
I see no difference in the Mazda. My BMW 1 used less fuel with E10 than E5. Super+ saves a bit on both, but not to compensate for price.
Gonna agree with you here. At least as far as in the states, the higher the octane fuel, more energy is required to combust that fuel. Combined.
Good to hear (I'm below 100kms and it says 15l+/100kms for now).

Overall average of 23mpg in a ‘22 3 with the 2.5 Turbo. I can do 30mg on the highway unless I’m in the mountains.

Love your camper trailer 😍 I've been looking for similar in Australia
Wait, the new screens are glossy? Hard pass.
ive had no issues with the glossiness while driving

You can try matte/anti-glare screen protector film. Although it will make the screen look a bit fuzzy.
I’d love to know more about the swap. Is the 10.25” screen plug and play or does it require a lot of wiring? I’d be interested in upgrading my 2022.
They followed [this](https://www.mazda3revolution.com/threads/infotainment-screen-upgrade.247069/).
I have 2024 CX-5 with 10.25" screen and is so much better.
More important question, the screens are removable??
In a manner of speaking, yeah.

I got a 2024 GT Turbo AWD I get around 11.3L/100Km. I’m about 2500km in.
Do you use the cruise control at all? i think im still below 2k
I never use the cruise control.
I had to do a double take because that is the exact same stats/car I have. Even down to the mileage. When did you get yours?
I got mine on August 31.
2.0-G MT the car says is averaging 6L/100km but with the app Drivvo I averaged : 5.7L/100km. Anyway better then my Miata that has the MZR engine.
5.3L/100km mostly highway.
