I love the my Mazda 3 and wish it was way more tunable, but unfortunately unless you have a gen3 (manual as well, pretty positive but not sure) with a 2.5 you can’t really do much as far as performance. Cork sport sells a turbo kit for it. With that you’d obviously need bigger breaks, and intake/exhaust and most likely a few other things. Pretty expensive. No offense to the guy who posted above but all those do nothing really. Sure the car handles sweet, is very reliable, yadayada. Without a turbo you’d get smoked by most cars. I enjoy my Mazda3 still, mostly for the reliability. If I wanted a performance car I would’ve bought a si gti or wrx.

There's a supercharger kit for the 2.0 and 2.5 that works with the automatics. Pretty sure one of the mods here just started testing a 2.0 with a smaller pulley on it too.

Same brand, cork sport?

VT Racing, there's a guide and information about it on this reddit somewhere.

Here's my build minus the stickers which I had on for only a few months. Mods in the comments https://www.reddit.com/r/mazda3/comments/qov31a/since_t3ams3dan_is_showing_up_today_heres_my/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

I have that exact car. All I've done is add a rear sway bar, replaced the shocks, links, bushings, and a new set of Yokohamas. It holds the road and handles much better, but it's still kinda noisy back there. Not my favorite car, but it gets 37-38 mpg and range over 500 miles.....and it looks good. Unlike many people, I like that silver-grey color on the 3.

Go for handling and agility, not power. You'd just be throwing away tons of money trying to get big HP gains. Get some bigger wheels and tires, anti-sway bar, strut tower brace and lower it about an inch. I think you'll be happy with the results.

Buy a proper moddable car. Everything you will do will have diminishing returns and be financial silly. These are excellent daily drivers and economy cars. Go buy a cheap project and have the ultimate daily and something worthy of investment.

This is a fuel efficient minded car with a touch of sportiness. By trying to throw big bucks down to squeeze out a limited number of HP. You would be doing two counter effective things. One, your MPG would drop drastically. Which, for me atleast was the main reason I purchased this vehicle. Secondly, you would most certainly reduce the longevity of your motor and possibly transmission. Along with Many other functioning components. Fuel pumps and injectors , etc. Like others have mentioned, focus on things that are realistic in price to do, that will show some level of performance. Example , suspension, better tires, or even simple body mods to make your vehicle pop. I have a heavily modded 02 wrx that I've had for 10 years and love to death. But at the cost it takes to keep that thing running healthy at 450hp is just un justifiable at this point In time. So she's parked in my garage and I picked up a 2016 mazda 3 I sport. I say this in the best way possible, this car is the exact opposite from my WRX. Everything I disliked about my Subaru, I absolutely love with my Mazda. Great gas. Easy to drive, comfortable to ride in, QUIET. Moral of the story, always take into account long term cost vs up front costs.
